We are still taking applications...and probably will for a good while. New or old player - does not matter, we will still consider you. We can't promise you'll get in, but we will look over your app for sure and if we connect, we will find a way to smoothly integrate you.

We have two major continents, Madurin and Tavlyria, as well as small island space in the middle that we sort of consider the 'third continent' - The Middle Waters, in the way that Oceania is considered a continent in some circles. We also have a sister region called Wishtonia, that IC borders the southern portion of Teremara. Wishtonia is where some of us maintain tropical island puppets. However, you don't have to have a nation in Teremara to join Wishtonia.

We have quite a bit of lore built up, but there's always room for more and we can be quite flexible to fit someone in, both canon, and map request-wise. We do expect some activity and communication, so please be aware that your obligation doesn't end with just getting into the region and placement on the map. For more info and links, visit our WFE.

Also be aware that we are one of the few RP regions that are NOT closed - by that we mean that we maintain links with other RP regions and consider ourselves to be on a greater globe with all of them. The society is similar to the Polish and Czech ones. Bricnia is a presidential Republic, where the Chancellor detains the major part of the Power, with the Prime Minister leading the government. The Parliament its Bicameral, the Senate and the Assembly, and it has 300 deputies. The principal parties are the Centre Party, the Conservative Party and the Liberal Party. For climate and Geography, same of the Polish and Czech Ones

IC Portion of the Application

1. What is the official name of your nation? The Community of Newplym

2. What type of government currently runs your nation? Government decisions are made by a hierarchy of councils. Each of the six sectors is governed by a council whose twelve members each serve a single ten-year term, with elections every five years. Within each sector, each 10-year age cohort from 20-30 to 70+ is represented by a pair of council members, one junior and one senior. Each council votes every 5 years to choose a junior chairman, who serves as a junior chairman for 5 years, then 5 years as chairman. Each council is represented on the high council by their chairmen and junior chairman. High chairman and junior high chairman are rotating positions by sector. Chairmen end up serving a total of 15 years, 5 as junior councilor, 5 as junior chairman, and 5 as full chairman. A High Chairman who has served hus 5 years as head of government is usually approved by the High Council to become High Chairman Emeritus, head of state, for 5 years, but in case of scandal or corruption the High Council may deny him this and vote for the previous HCE to continue for another 5 years. Councilors and chairmen are required to also have day jobs in their sectors.
Each individual gets one vote for simply being an adult, but it is possible to get more than one vote in each election. Additional votes are granted for activities and commitments that promote social good. One vote is granted for each of the following:
-Serving in the military or having been honorably discharged.
-Being married.
-Caring for one or more dependents, whether children, elderly or disabled relatives, or even taking an acquaintance as a dependent.
-Working full-time at least 8 of the 12 months prior to the election.
In each of these cases, the individual is committed to doing something for the benefit of someone else.
Each sector chooses how to hold elections, and caucuses, first-past-the-post, and runoff elections between the top two candidates are all currently practiced, but all of these incorporate different numbers of votes based on social responsibility. Felons are not allowed to vote while serving their sentences, but the right to vote is restored afterwards.

6. What type of economy operates your nation? Still working that out. Government revenues come primarily from a flat sales tax on imports, exports, and domestic sales, and excess electricity sales to other nations

7. Give us a brief description of your nation (culture, society, spirituality, politics, climate, geography, etc.) Newplym is an island nation similar to Orkney, except that it has a large forest basin on the northern half of the island, a forested region surrounded by a tall horseshoe shaped ridge that blocks the high winds that comes from the sea. The main island is about 25 miles from north to south and 20 miles from east to west, including the peninsula tgat the airport is on which used to be connected only by a low tide spit, but which has been improved into a permanent causeway. We aspire to live quiet lives, and a national slogan is "Newer is not always better." We are not Luddites, opposed to all technology, but closer to Amish, exercising discernment when it comes to new technologies and cultural influences. We recently rid our island of internet connections because we saw how it fostered social conflict, poor mental health, and even decreased ability to think clearly. We also have no broadcast media apart from weather reports, yet we have a robust publishing industry in books and newspapers. We just think that if an idea is not significant to commit to print, it's not worth spreading widely. We even have technical aspirations, as we are glad to have an international-class airport and even a burgeoning rocket industry, making use of our island geography as a good launch site. We hope to one day build and launch our own space telescope. We would be willing to occasionally use our rocket technology to launch ballistic missiles in support of joint military operations, but our military is primarily concerned with local fighter plane defenses and missile batteries for coastal defense. The missile battery system is known as "The Girdle of Melian."
Most people have very tangible, concrete jobs, whether in agriculture growing rye, barley, oats, and livestock, or in manufacturing, especially in aerospace and publishing. There are computers used in engineering, but home computers are unknown. Cellular telephones are not uncommon, but have no capability beyond voice calls and texting, both of which are provided to all as a public service. Taxes are generally taken as a flat sales tax on the seller.
We have a strong Christian faith, we would say that there are some social changes that we do not even consider. Extramarital sex is severely discouraged, abortion is illegal except to preserve the mother's life, and men who impregnate women they are not married to face severe financial penalties that go to benefit the woman and her child. LGBT+ priorities are things that are not even worth considering on our island. We will not pressure others to change their social policies, but we would strongly resist attempts to make us change ours. We would rather lose trade and diplomatic opportunities than be coerced to change our policies.

I'm in middle age, career and family have stabilized, and so I am looking for good outlets for creativity. I've explored a lot of what tv, movies, and the web have to offer, and seen that they don't live up to their promises, so this started as a thought experiment of people who turned aside from mainstream Western media culture and chose physical and spiritual good instead, without reverting to an idealized pre-industrial, pre-modern state.

I joined The Commonwealth Society yesterday because I was looking for an RP region, and they were one of the first that looked like it might fit. but I haven't engaged there yet, and Teremara looks like a better fit. Before that I was in The Amarinthine Isles, chosen for "safety" as a newbie, to be somewhere that wouldn't be raided, but raiding/defending is not my playstyle, and I was never at ease with joining the WA in order to endorse their leaders, as much as I liked what their leaders were trying to do. It's against Newplym's nature to choose a situation where they can be coerced by the decisions of other nations, to follow foreign laws or have their own laws overturned.

Lotha Demokratische-Republique (or the Lothique Democratic Republic in English)

2. What type of government currently runs your nation?
Dual Republic; decentralized network of workers councils delegating to each other sharing power with a parliamentary system. All councils which operate nationally delegate to the Supreme Soviet, which elects a President. The parliamentary body, the Senate, elects its Premier. The President and Premier share executive power, though the President is considered more senior than the Premier and reserves the right to dissolve the Senate. The Supreme Soviet acts as the lower house of legislature and the Senate acts as the upper house.

Cultural mishmosh of French and German culture filtered through the avant-garde "proletarian" culture promoted by the communist regime. Historically a Lutheran country, although the regime discourages religion and often suppresses politically dissenting pastors. Parties do not operate in the soviets, though party members may be delegates. The senate is primarily dominated by the Conservateurs, the pro-senate side of the split in the communist party. Minority parties include the Abstentionnistes, the abstentionist anti-senate side of the communist party split, as well as the Free Lotha Party, the legal opposition party made up of social democrats and neoliberals. The republic considers itself a "dictatorship of the proletariat in a state of Dual Power", awaiting the next wave of international revolution to continue its socialist transformation. The state has no standing army or professional police force, though a workers militia called Red Guard can be called by a Soviet to preform these functions. The judiciary is entirely subject to the local soviet, which appoints and dismisses judges as it sees fit.

So, if you were looking to make a small island puppet and put it somewhere, that might be a good fit. Wishtonia does not take nations bigger than the RL island of Hispaniola, or 50 million population.

Just to add to this, and posting with permission from Teremara Caretaker - If you have a tropical island nation, or thought about creating one, Wishtonia is your region. You don't have to also have a nation in Teremara, as they said, but you do have to accept that Teremara has a big influence on our canon, and that we work closely with them. Generally, we tend to gravitate towards Asian and Polynesian cultural influences, but if you have another idea, such as an original culture not RL based, I'm willing to hear it. Human only and mainly MT, I should add. And as said, smaller islands and no greater than 50 million pop, but hopefully much smaller than that.

We'd like to see some activity, but we are a bit slower paced than Teremara, other than some isolated RPs. Island time. Pressure is low to participate, but we'd still like to connect some canon. Contact me via TG to get more details if you're interested.

Give us a brief description of your nation (culture, society, spirituality, politics, climate, geography, etc.): The culture of Kiddian States is based on modern Northern American/Canadian culture. The Republic is home to a diverse collection of people. However, they tend to skew liberal in political matters. The political focus of the nation and its people is to put its people’s interests first, more so than other nations that claim to do so. The official religious stance of Kiddian States is one of agnosticism: if a god/gods exist, evidence is required to accept them as a being that exists. The climate is based on Rhode Island (70s-80s F in the summer, 20s-40s F in the winter). Most major cities are situated on the coast, and the nation’s main tourist attractions are beaches. Kiddian States is also known for its prevalent film and literature.

Based on Monaco, its culture being influence by its neighbours. It is considered a tax haven and often regarded as one of the most expensive and wealthiest countries in the world. A city-state with an area of just above 2.1 km2, it is one of the smallest and most densely-populated states in the world. Through ongoing land reclamation, Mendorra's small land mass has expanded by 20 per cent and counting. Foreign residents greatly outnumber citizens and there are loads of different nationalities residing there. The principality is governed under a form of constitutional monarchy, with the Prince who wields immense political power despite his constitutional status. The prime minister (minister of state), who is the head of government, can be either a Mendorran or a Gaulish citizen; the monarch consults with the Government of Gaul before an appointment. Key members of the judiciary in Mendorra are detached Gaulish magistrates. Since the state religion is Catholicism, the population tends to be quite Conservative, which explains why certain quirky laws are in place. For example, no one is allowed to walk bare-chested, bare-foot or wearing only a swimming costume outside the beach area, and campervans are forbidden to drive through or park there.

The Territory of New Beaufort, commonly called New Beaufort, is a Dependent Overseas Territory in Southeastern Madurin. It is bordered on the east by Middle Waters and Madurin Seas. New Beaufort has has an estimated population of over 21.57 million. New Beaufort remains an overseas possession of the Commonwealth of Beaufort

New Beaufort was first inhabited by indigenous peoples of the Vasbos Region, before the arrival of the Mercurial and Tulsedown in April 1791 under the command of Captain Riley Halstead, who established a port on the coast, and became the first Governor of New Beaufort. Later, the colony expanded westwards towards the San Cristóbal Valley. Overtime, the Colony developed into an economically self sufficient colony, relying mainly on a strong agricultural ranching sector to sustain itself whilst resupply with Beaufort remained difficult.

By the late 1800's, the colony had industrialized, and with it a strong labour movement, which quickly led into armed strikes and strikebreaking. Social divisions hardned between the existing Beaufortian settler class, the Indigenous lower class, and the growing wave of new generation Beaufortian migrants. By 1923, a strong pro-independence communist movement had broken out, leading to La primera emergencia roja (The 1st Red Emergency), and a rural guerilla campaign by militants forced thed deployment of Beaufortian Soldiers to put the situation under control, finally quashing the emergency in 1926.

The main struggle would be, even among moderates, for a reformed democracy, with full sufferage, and competitive districts. As the territory began to modernize throughout the 30's, and into the 50's a more centrist civil rights movement started gaining traction called the Sociedad de reforma y derechos de todos los ciudadanos (All-Citizens Rights and Reform Society), which faced middling levels of opposition from the colonial government, and as dissatisfaction with unresponsiveness grew, many radicals split off to both reform marxist guerilla movements in La segunda emergencia roja (The 2nd Red Emergency), as well as a hard-line Catholic milita called the El Ejército de Jesucristo para la Liberación de los Vasbos (EJLV) (The Army of Jesus Christ for the Liberation of the Vasbos), and forced another costly military intervention, made rather more difficult by the interference of Madurinte States and overall regional geopolitics.

By 1968, the exauhsted Beaufortian Government finally introduced a new commission to examine proposals to bring the Territory in line with Beaufortian Chartist Democracy, and the subsequent Dulley-Hale Report suggested a local law, not too dissimilar from a Provinical Charter, to be made, and a Convention was called with universal sufferage to draft a charter. The first draft (known as the Cartes Plan) would envision a seperated republic, with a seperate Government and Parliament, only for this to be rejected by the Beaufortian Legislature before it even went to referendum. The second proposal (Hatch Plan) would envsion a Beaufortian Style democracy, and would be approved as the Basic Law.

The Last 60 years have mainly been low-key, and some of the most prosperous years. Despite this, inequality remains rampant, drug smuggling has become a major problem in the territory, and the Beaufortian Government still refuse an independence referendum.

New Beaufort has both strong Hispanic and Anglo cultural influences. While English remains the predominant language and the official business language, spanish is used in the rural regions. Catholicism remains dominant in the region, despite mainly urban settlements on the coast following the Beaufortian Protestant Church.

Ancient Waffalyans were nomadic traders, and all emprenzetans retain some of that heritage, although some have strayed away from it and established more permanent settlements. A bartering-based economy is an important part of Waffalyan culture, stretching back to when their ancestors had to trade with people before exchange rates were a thing. Generally, international trade is expected to be bartering-based, although some emprenzetans are a little more lenient.The political landscape is ever-changing, as emprenzetans and their leader vie for control. The political landscape within emprenzetans is similarly complex, especially because each emprenzetan has a distinct culture and political structure. The climate of Waffalya is generally warm, averaging from 85-90 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer, and about 40-50 degrees in the winter. Historically, Waffalya hasn’t been very religious—attempting to trade with religious zealots is often difficult, which gradually led Waffalyans to drift away from their beliefs. However, some Waffalyans believe in an ambiguous spirit, pushing them to fulfill their ancestral tradition of nomadic adventuring.

In practice, however, the central government cannot exert full control over many of the nation's administrative divisions, leaving most regions outside of the capital with an extremely high degree of autonomy.

6. What type of economy operates your nation?In Ainavuel, the largest and capital city, the government maintains enough control to run the country under a neoliberal capitalist structure. In the more isolated rural regions, royal authority is significantly diminished, so economic policy is inconsistent. Some villages have chosen to unite themselves under feudal or guild socialist models in the struggle for survival while other areas are de facto controlled by local warlords or even foreign corporations.

The Vektranans are descended from a tribe of Aubauna people in what is now Asucki. As more of the governments of the Asuckian Isles converted to Christianity, non-Christians become increasingly isolated and persecuted. Aanau the Great, chieftan of the Vektranans, formed a grand coalition made up of his kinsmen, as well dissidents from other backgrounds, to counteract Christian influence, announcing a full anti-Christian crusade in 847. Though the coalition's strength was significant, the Christian states, supported by superpowers Novaera and Aurinnen, utterly crushed its efforts. The survivors either reintegrated into Asuckian Isle society or, as was the case with Aanau and the people who would go on to found modern Vektrana, left entirely, leaning on designs for long-range boats handed down from their Polynesian forefathers.

Utilizing this technology, the Vektranans made their way back to Wishtonia, where they settled near what is now Hutanjia, somewhat near the area where those ancestors themselves hailed from. Over time, the doctrines of ancestor veneration and ascending to godhood as a human present in Asuckian Séaiilic practice solidified into the belief that the Vektranan rulers were not only demigods, but the only demigods existent on earth at a given time. The royal family secured their position and is still afforded absolute power over the country in the modern day.

Culturally, Vektranans are a fairly humble people, but as a whole they do have a reputation for being cunning and willing to go to extreme lengths to accomplish their goals. This stereotype is largely due to seemingly unending power struggles within the royal family and other influential political figures but is not especially reflective of the overall populace. The common folk are highly conservative socially but generally totally detatched from the politics of the capital, instead focusing on family and religious life. Those living in Ainavuel largely make up the nation's intelligentsia class.

As Vektranan Séaiil is the state-enforced religion, attendance at religious rituals and ceremonies is high. The population, however, increasingly doubts the claims of the king's divinity made by the government. Despite being having a unified belief structure, Vektranan Séaiil varies based on geographical region. Priests usually spend most of their time in the large temples of Ainavuel, leaving the position largely empty in rural regions, to be filled either by wandering monks or by the laymen themselves. As such, rural practice tends to be susceptible to syncretism and deviations from official beliefs. Beyond this, there are also underground groups of members from other religions which practice in secret away from the prying eyes of the central government.

Vektrana consists of an island just off of the coast of Hutanjia, as well as a contested ethnic enclave directly bordering Hutanjia. The environment is tropical, with long, warm summers and brief and mild winters. Most of the country is blanketed with forests and hills, contributing to the isolation of communities existing outside of the developed coastal regions. Ainavuel is situated on a stretch of flat, clear land on the southern coast. Cocoa and tropical fruits are major exports. Forestry as an industry has expanded in recent decades as the central government seeks ways to increase their access to the center of the country while also creating jobs and exports.
