What gives your leader their power to rule? Some nations have constitutions that say so, others have a rite of combat, still others claim power by being the only person in the entire country!

In Yžubjö, Empress Zagusam's claim to power is the same one that the Imperial Government has used since the founding of the Empire. It comes from the legend that the imperial family is made of decedents/incarnations of the Polean Goddess of Luck, Risež. Legends also say that Risež formed the empire and was the first Empress of it. The citizens listen to everything the Imperial Family has to say, on account of them being seen as demigods. The Imperial Family also likes to point out that Yžubjö has never lost a war (despite that being a blatant lie, but the losses were many years ago and were minimal so no one really remembers them, but those that do usually don't last long if they try to spread it).

The power of our nation is held by one person, our Founder and Prime Executive, Sy Zeus Orion. He appoints his Board of Directorates and leaders of our Military. He does grant a semblance of "Freedom" by allowing the populace to elect a President and Prime Minister, although they are members of puppet political parties of the only political party allowed known as U.P.S.C.A.L.E.

The laws and customs of the realm confirm the Emperor's power, such traditions manifest through inheritance and by the grace of the Gods, and they are upheld in coronation ceremonies, typically the Hungarian coronation stands in for other ones since Hungary requires the ceremony for their king or queen.

The Royal Family of Pampersburg are descendants of the founder of the kingdom- the dreaded Pirate King Jack Softbottom. They have held claim to the Kingdom for 190 years, and are granted the power to rule the country as the Monarch by two documents in particular: the Establishment of the Kingdom (1827) and the Constitution of Pampersburg (1956). The Royal family serves a largely ceremonial purpose in most matters of law since the ratification of the kingdom's constitution, but they continue to own the majority of public lands in the country and retain full control over their uses.

The Prime Minister is granted his power to govern by the Constitution of Pampersburg. They are elected directly by the people as the senior minister of the executive branch and are given powers very similar to that of a president. They are accountable to the Monarch and the Pampersburg Senate, but under the law they have the right to make many decisions independent of both.

It is Karamiko's Constitution that grants Prime Minister Mayweather her power, as she is the head of Karamiko's Liberal Party, currently the largest party in Parliament. The Constitution grants the office and duties of Prime Minister to the head of Parliament's largest party. It also lays out a system of proportional representation which determines the number of seats each party gets after the yearly elections. Each party wins 1 seat for each 0.1 percent of the vote it gets in the election (rounded to the nearest whole). In this way, the party that wins the most votes obtains the most seats, and the head of that party becomes Prime Minister.

This confirms he still has the peoples support and his parties support. It also serves as a way to tell Patricians "yea.. your special powers and law exemptions will be worth nothing to the average citizen when I'm done with my emergency dictator powers".

Of course he still retains emergency unelected powers when losing the election, but he will lose half his power to whoever the people elected. He'd becme a powerful bureaucrat over a dictator.

He is also limited by the Emergency Dictator section of the Alexandrian Constitution.

The Emperor's power is confirmed by centuries of Imperial convention and the Sole Book of The Benx, which provides that the people shall have a leader to protect them from mortal dangers and another to defend them from spiritual dangers.

As a simple answer, our constitution establishes the Prime Minister's position as head of government and head of state of the Democratic Republic of Gandoor.

To give a more detailed answer, the Constitution of the Democratic Republic of Gandoor states that National Elections are to occur every six years on the first Saturday in July, with the candidate from whichever party has the most seats in the Forum following the election becoming the Prime Minister-elect. (The candidate is usually the leader of the party, although this is not required by law) On the second Friday in October, Forum arrangement decided in the July elections begin their first session and their first act is to officially appoint the Prime Minister-elect to the office of Prime Minister, officially stating they are doing so 'based upon the will of the people', granting them all the rights and privileges associated with the office.

Parliament has the power to dismiss a Prime Minister in a vote of no confidence, and the monarch will always choose the individual most likely to command the confidence of the House of Peasants.

Depends who you call the "leader" although the president is the official leader and his power is granted by the people's votes the actual leader is the CEO of what's known to praleians as "the company" they have a monopoly on everything on the island, so if the people start getting angry, no water, no power, no shops, no anything. So the people generally do whatever the CEO wants.

Emperor Constantine I claims his throne as emperor of Volgaria for many reasons

1. When Emperor Constantine took power during a coup he formed a new constitution for Volgaria that decreed the Emperor and no one else shall rule the nation until his death. Which then a heir chosen by the Emperor shall take his place on the throne.

2. The Emperor is open to duels if any challenge him (keeping in mind that since he took power no one has ever won a duel with him)

3. The Emperor has a very close secret police/body guard (similar to the SS and the SA.) that enforce his will. Anyone seen as a threat to his position in any way are either captured or killed on spot. If you are captured you are executed by the emperor publicly as he cuts off your head with a saber.

The Emperors choice to keeping his throne is through the constitutional method, however he rules the nation mostly by pure fear.

The claim to the throne is a very old one, dating back to the first group of humans to defy Nargothond who had occupied the territory at this time. Subsequently, Clan Gothe is a cadet branch of the Telcontar dynasty that had ruled Danceria since it's unification until the dawn of the 20th century, when the Days of Discord/War of the Partisans occurred and the countries plunged into civil war, and where the Telcontars produced no clear direct heir.

From the late thirties and up unto the seventies, Danceria was ruled by a Fascist Republic, which gradually relaxed in power after the election of a new heir (Arahael VIII Gothe), the first time such an election had occured again since the inception of the country. The Constitution of Danceria underwent a massive revival, in which the Congress and Balance of Power was enacted, allowing the people to choose who the heir would be, and what to do if there was no clear heir and a crisis like the Days of Discord were to happen again.

Lineage wise, Clan Gothe claimed lineage from Elurín, the son of the freedom-fighter king Dior and the great grandson of the first Nargothondian to sympathize with the Dancerians, Thingol. By marriage and treaty, they claimed the Principality of Solin, bringing the the stalwart puppet of the Escanthean/Byzantine Empire under the rule of House Telcontar.

As Araheal was succeeded by Aramaer, and has a grandson Araed (Axius), and it is highly likely that Araed would (with the consensus of both houses of the Assembly) rule after his father either retires or dies.

TL;DR my boys are descended from the kings of LOTR, and as they have lineage, the Assembly/Congress can vote for them to rule unless they commit a grievous offense.

For the President of the Lunar Domain, under the Lunar Charter, being elected is one part which confirms their power, but being sworn in is what officially gives them their power as President.

For the Prime Minister, it's largely the same, except that the Prime Minister is selected by the President and confirmed by the Lunar Parliament (unless they aren't, in which case the Parliament selects and elects the Prime Minister). The current (and first) Prime Minister was sworn in by the President, which is believed to be the way things will be done in the future.
