Need help with German...

A long time ago, when I was naming the special forces of my nation, I stupidly used Google Translate (of course, there wasn't this kind of service then), and ended up with the term "Stoßschutz".

I have stumbled upon evidence which implicates that Stoßschutz actually translates to mean some kind of bumper or surge protector. Is that what it means in common German, or could it still work for the name of a military unit? If not, could you help me rename them? I was going for 'shock troops'.

Used it in google translate as one word. Got Stoßtruppen.
Also google translate had Stoßschutz come out as impact protection.

Thanks, but I think the point of this thread is to avoid using Google Translate and to get help from actual speakers. I would still like someone who speaks German to assist me in renaming, please.

Stoßtruppen was the actual name of German shock troops though.

Thanks for the assistance. I can use that; just wanted to be sure, since Google Translate has given me mistranslations before.

Google Translate isn't always the most accurate. I'd recommend using Wordreference.

What would “Commision of Humanity’s emancipation” be in Bulgarian? It is the Slomikovan commission tasked with destruction of religion in Slomikova and outside its borders.

Hi,

I’d like some help regarding French and city names. Currently, Dérve’s capital is ‘Paríque’, but I doubt that is very French nor creative.
What could be a possible name for a French city in Newfoundland, which Dérve inhabits?
I currently have some candidates for capital city names:
  • Marlet
  • Vitronne
  • Dravers
  • Greppe

Any help regarding the linguistics of French city names would greatly help.
Thanks!

P.S. I used the West European town name generator for the candidate city names.

The most conscientious leftists are shooting themselves in the foot with their ethic of sacrificing their own best to people who might not be trustworthy. The worse of them, when they fall behind in the race, decide they want to shoot others in the foot to make the race fair. Nature stubbornly refuses to be egalitarian. Not everyone can run at the same pace, or think at the same pace, and equality necessarily implies hobbling progress with worse speed for all but the slowest.

Question: is their an IRL language that is close to the "language" used in Arrival by the heptapods?

I was think about doing something like that but I'm still researching it.

If anyone can read Korean here, I found a coat of arms I want to use for my nation, but I want to know what the Korean text says on the bottom. Can someone help me translate if possible? Thanks in advance.

Paríque isn't very French because that accent doesn't exist in French (i.e. it doesn't go on the letter I). All of those other names seem fairly French though.

Also, is Dérve pronounced like Dayrv? I find that kind of hard to pronounce. It doesn't really roll off the tongue.

Usually an e at the end is silent. According to your pronunciation, it should probably be "Dérveh" or "Dérvet" (the latter looks more French).
