Is gay marriage legal in any parts of your country, or has legislation on it not been passed yet?
Gay marriage is legal in the entire country, and has been since 1939.
What percentage of your population is homosexual?
While no official census has taken place, surveys indicate that about 7-9% of the population is mostly homosexual and an additional 20% some degree of bisexual
Have religious or atheistic beliefs influenced your decision to make gay marriage legal or illegal?
Historically, the Church of Light has never been particularly engaged in the legal institution of marriage, beyond forbidding it for its clergy. Immigrant religions have historically been too small to influence policy in this regard.
Are schools allowed to refuse LGBT people?
No
Are jobs allowed to refuse LGBT people?
No, except for the clergy of minority religious organizations
Are restaurants and other services allowed to refuse service to LGBT people?
No

Is gay marriage legal in any parts of your country, or has legislation on it not been passed yet?
Legislation has not been passed on it as it has always been legal, although very rare. Marriage in Atlantiris is only used for political purposes and thus is rather antiquated, very rarely do people marry in general.
If no, why not?
Are there any regions, states, provinces, etc. in your country that gay marriage is illegal?
Gay marriage is not necessarily illegal in Voreyagee (The northernmost state), but it is taboo there to some degree, and in the past gays would be lynched. The more rural mountain Altaz clans were known to shun young men accused of being gay, and they were never given a manhood ceremony, and thus not respected in the clan. In times of little food they were exiled.
What percentage of your population is homosexual?
Probably around 5-10%, higher in the cities and lower in the more rural areas.
Have religious or atheistic beliefs influenced your decision to make gay marriage legal or illegal?
Nature worship is the most common form of religious expression, and because homosexuality is seen by some as not what nature intended, you are said to be a bad follower of Kemmengow if you engage in such activities. However, nobody should be a criminal for doing something as harmless as marrying another of the same gender- though as i said marriage is uncommon.
Are schools allowed to refuse LGBT people?
Public schools are not, private schools are.
Are jobs allowed to refuse LGBT people?
Yes, unless they are government jobs.
Are restaurants and other services allowed to refuse service to LGBT people?
Yes.
Are LGBT people allowed to adopt?
Yes, but equally qualified straight couples are given priority.

Are there any regions, states, provinces, etc. in your country that gay marriage is illegal? No. Same-sex couples are granted marriage licenses nationwide.
What percentage of your population is homosexual? Roughly 20%

Are there any regions, states, provinces, etc. in your country that gay marriage is illegal? No
What percentage of your population is homosexual? The exact amount is unknown, but it is believed to be between 1% and 3%.
Have religious or atheistic beliefs influenced your decision to make gay marriage legal or illegal? Yes and No. Fredonians are a religious people, generally speaking, so gay marriage is frowned upon by many, which influences social stigmas. At the same time, the government doesn't regulate marriage in any way so gay marriage (and by extension homosexuality) was never explicitly illegal. As such, the Supreme Court ruled in 1980—after a series of lawsuits against churches in St. Mary's that refused to host gay weddings—that although homosexuals may wed, religious institutions cannot be forced to host their wedding.
Are schools allowed to refuse LGBT people? Yes. Schools are private institutions.
Are jobs allowed to refuse LGBT people? Yes, private businesses may refuse to hire LGBT people (or anyone they want) if they wish.
Are restaurants and other services allowed to refuse service to LGBT people? Yes. Private businesses are allowed to refuse services to anyone they wish.
Are LGBT people allowed to adopt? Yes. However, adoption centres generally prioritize same-sex couples.

Are there any regions, states, provinces, etc. in your country that gay marriage is illegal? No, same-sex marriage is legal nationwide.
What percentage of your population is homosexual? Approximately 3% of East Germans identify as homosexual.
Have religious or atheistic beliefs influenced your decision to make gay marriage legal or illegal? Yes, it would be fair to say the overall irreligiousness of East Germans was a contributing factor to the GDR's legalization of same-sex marriage.
Are schools allowed to refuse LGBT people? No, the Equal Treatment Act forbids educational discrimination based on sexual orientation.
Are jobs allowed to refuse LGBT people? No, the Equal Treatment Act forbids employment discrimination based on sexual orientation.
Are restaurants and other services allowed to refuse service to LGBT people? No, the Equal Treatment Act forbids refusal of service based on sexual orientation

Is gay marriage legal in any parts of your country, or has legislation on it not been passed yet? No.
If no, why not? In the Republic of Strahcoin, marriage is defined as between a man and a woman. Therefore, homosexual marriages are impossible.
Are there any regions, states, provinces, etc. in your country that gay marriage is illegal? Yes, all. However, homosexuals who try to "marry" each other won't necessarily be arrested; their "marriage" will just not be legally recognized.
What percentage of your population is homosexual? Effectively zero. Not due to any "culling", but rather because traditional family culture/values discourage homosexuality and homosexuals are allowed to emigrate to more multicultural nations (such as Canada or various European countries).
Have religious or atheistic beliefs influenced your decision to make gay marriage legal or illegal? Yes, although practical, populist, and moral factors also strongly influenced the decision. Actually, now that I think about it, not really.
Are schools allowed to refuse LGBT people? Yes, schools are private and can refuse anyone for any reason.
Are jobs allowed to refuse LGBT people? Yes, businesses are private and can refuse anyone for any reason.
Are restaurants and other services allowed to refuse service to LGBT people? Yes, restaurants are private and can refuse anyone for any reason.

Toylockland's Policies on marriage

Postby Toylockland » Thu Nov 07, 2019 12:08 pm

Is gay marriage legal in any parts of your country, or has legislation on it not been passed yet?

Technically, no official law has been passed but it is legal in most of the country.

Are there any regions, states, provinces, etc. in your country that gay marriage is illegal?

Yup. You can be a public or private region in Toylockland - if you're a public region then you get services but you have to follow laws. If you're a private region then you basically fend for yourself and pass your own laws. The private regions are generally things like communes and cults and various things. However, there is always signage up to the effect "You are now entering Miklaya. Please be aware that X is prohibited beyond this point until you reach Y."

What percentage of your population is homosexual?

No idea. The government does not track such things.

Have religious or atheistic beliefs influenced your decision to make gay marriage legal or illegal?
Yes.

Are schools allowed to refuse LGBT people?

It depends. Public-in-American-sense schools are not allowed to refuse LGBT people as either staff or students - the best they can do is Don't Ask/Don't Tell - but then they are expected to curb ALL mentions of boyfriends/girlfriends. Private schools can hire/fire by drawing names out of a hat if they wish. In theory, private schools cannot refuse LGBT students. However, since they can write their code of conduct to say whatever they want as far as private schools go then they would be entirely within their rights and the law to have a Don't Ask/Don't Tell policy. In practice, the enforcement on private schools is rather lax anyway.

Homeschools are considered private schools until the government is told otherwise.

Are jobs allowed to refuse LGBT people?

It depends on the job. Generally speaking, the government has the most restrictions on who it can refuse to hire and the more private you are, the less restrictions you have on this.

Are restaurants and other services allowed to refuse service to LGBT people?

It depends. Public restaurants and other services aren't. Private services are.

Are LGBT people allowed to adopt?

There are three types of adoption agencies in toylockland.

Public
Semi
Private

LGBT are allowed to adopt from the public adoption agencies - the public adoption agencies *have* to let them adopt. The private adoption agencies are allowed to set all of their own policies. The Semi agencies have to let Lesbian and Gay people adopt but they can do what they want with regards to bi and trans people and they may place restrictions on this form of adoption.

One Semi agency will only place boys in homes with at least one father figure and will only place girls in homes with at least one mother figure. Another Semi agency believes that there should be as little temptation as possible for gay couples and will only place girls with gay men and will only place boys with lesbian women. Interestingly, the one thing these two semi agencies agree on is that mixed sibling sets should not be placed with same-sex couples.

Is gay marriage legal in any parts of your country, or has legislation on it not been passed yet?
As of 2007, Asanagi officially recognizes the legal rights of gay and transexual citizens within the country. This decision was taken due to there being no demonstrable scientific evidence to suggest that the existence of gay and transexual individuals or couples actively harmed the nation's functioning.

Are there any regions, states, provinces, etc. in your country that gay marriage is illegal?
No.

What percentage of your population is homosexual?
The true statistics are currently unknown, as the national census does not take sexual orientation into account, and no specific census was undertaken since 2007. However, currently, about 0.6 percent of all married couples within Asanagi are same-sex.

Have religious or atheistic beliefs influenced your decision to make gay marriage legal or illegal?
No. Scientific research was conducted into the lifestyles of gay citizens and their percentage of the population before an unbiased decision was made by the National Meritocratic Council.

Are schools allowed to refuse LGBT people?
No. No student may be refused education based on preexisting or outside factors.

Are jobs allowed to refuse LGBT people?
No. No worker may be refused work based on preexisting or outside factors.

Are restaurants and other services allowed to refuse service to LGBT people?
Not for their sexual orientation. If, however, they are known to be disruptive or have outstanding debts to said service they may be refused on those grounds.

Are LGBT people allowed to adopt?
Yes, provided they pass the same adoption requirements as any other citizen. This is done to ensure the safety and well-being of the child and also to ensure that the individual or couple in question is capable of caring for said child.
