Is gay marriage legal in any parts of your country, or has legislation on it not been passed yet? No, it is federally banned.
If no, why not? Same-sex marriage goes against the ruling party's natalist beliefs, and same-sex couples cannot contribute to the process of national rebirth. Homosexuality is seen as deviant and highly degenerate behaviour which must be removed from society.
Are there any regions, states, provinces, etc. in your country that gay marriage is illegal? Everywhere.
What percentage of your population is homosexual? The same as anywhere else in the world, but data is hard to come by because the LGBT population lives in fear of persecution, and are targeted for discrimination, hate crimes and eventually extermination.
Have religious or atheistic beliefs influenced your decision to make gay marriage legal or illegal? No.
Are schools allowed to refuse LGBT people? Yes, and in public schools this is common.
Are jobs allowed to refuse LGBT people? Yes, and in government jobs this is standard.
Are restaurants and other services allowed to refuse service to LGBT people? Yes.
Are LGBT people allowed to adopt? No.
We are free to believe that this is the century of authority, a century tending to the right, a Fascist century. If the XIXth century was the century of the individual (liberalism implies individualism) we are free to believe that this is the "collective" century, and therefore the century of the State.

Policies on Homosexuality in Normund

Postby Normund » Sun Nov 11, 2018 8:06 am

Is gay marriage legal in any parts of your country, or has legislation on it not been passed yet?:
Yes. Same-Sex marriage was legalised nationwide in 2001, under the Doyle Administration.

If no, why not?:
Not Applicable

Are there any regions, states, provinces, etc. in your country that gay marriage is illegal?:
No. The Republic is a unitary state.

What percentage of your population is homosexual?:
The exact statistics are unknown. It is estimated between >1% and 3% of the general population is homosexual.

Have religious or atheistic beliefs influenced your decision to make gay marriage legal or illegal?:
In a way, yes. The lack of religious bigotry and secular position of the government has made it far easier to pass pro-LGB legislation and rights, as there are few sensible reasons to not do so.

Are schools allowed to refuse LGBT people?:
No. To refuse a potential student because of their sexuality is discriminatory and illegal.
Legislation has yet to be passed regarding transsexuals.

Are jobs allowed to refuse LGBT people?:
No. To refuse an applicant because of their sexuality is discriminatory and illegal.
Legislation has yet to be passed regarding transsexuals.

Are restaurants and other services allowed to refuse service to LGBT people?:
No. To refuse service to a customer because of their sexuality is discriminatory and illegal.
Legislation has yet to be passed regarding transsexuals.

Are LGBT people allowed to adopt?:
Partially. LGB persons are allowed to adopt children as of 2002 legislation. However, thee are debates whether I extend this right to transsexual persons.

Is gay marriage legal in any parts of your country, or has legislation on it not been passed yet?
Yes.
Are there any regions, states, provinces, etc. in your country that gay marriage is illegal?
Yes
What percentage of your population is homosexual?
Specifically homosexual is about 2.5%, but LGBT people in general make up anywhere from 5% to 7% of the population.
Have religious or atheistic beliefs influenced your decision to make gay marriage legal or illegal?
The native religion in Kanslikad doesn’t explicitly condemn homosexuality (though, in its original forms, it doesn’t condone it either), however, some sects, influenced by outside religions have adopted a more homophobic view on their faith. In short, the amount of religiousness matters less than the specific religion.
Are schools allowed to refuse LGBT people?
No, but the rules aren’t always enforced, especially in some of the more conservative regions.
Are jobs allowed to refuse LGBT people?
No, but again, it is very easy for employers to get away with job discrimination.
Are restaurants and other services allowed to refuse service to LGBT people?
In most cases, no, but, in some places, they can refuse gay people if the their service or product is personalised to people, and would clearly change their service or product.
Are LGBT people allowed to adopt?
Yes, although there is some stigma around it, depending on the region.

Is gay marriage legal in any parts of your country, or has legislation on it not been passed yet?
In 2004, the People's Court ruled that sexual orientation was included in the minorities protected by the Cascadian Bill of Rights, in the case of Cascadian Socialist Republic v. Pacific Baptist Church. This ruling would, as one of its many effects, legalize same-sex marriage nationwide.
If no, why not?
N/A--Nationwide legalization.
Are there any regions, states, provinces, etc. in your country that gay marriage is illegal?
N/A--Nationwide legalization.
What percentage of your population is homosexual?
Concrete percentages are hard to find--homosexuality is not polled on the census. However, it is likely a bit higher than the global average.
Have religious or atheistic beliefs influenced your decision to make gay marriage legal or illegal?
No--separation of church and state is in effect.
Are schools allowed to refuse LGBT people?
No--schooling is federally owned, and follow federal policies uniformly.
Are jobs allowed to refuse LGBT people?
No--this would be a gift-wrapped general strike for any trade union that caught wind of it.
Are restaurants and other services allowed to refuse service to LGBT people?
No. Weekly inspections factor compliance with federal mandates in their ratings.
Are LGBT people allowed to adopt?
Yes, through the proper legal channels.

Is gay marriage legal in any parts of your country, or has legislation on it not been passed yet? Gay marriage is legal in The Imperial Commonwealth
If no, why not? N/A
Are there any regions, states, provinces, etc. in your country that gay marriage is illegal? The law of the intergalactic is absolute, and cannot be challenged by any member worlds. Therefore, there are no regions where gay marriage is illegal.
What percentage of your population is homosexual?~43% in total with ~15.2% being Bi and 4.3% being Asexual. There are probably many more factors, but the census doesn't take this in.
Have religious or atheistic beliefs influenced your decision to make gay marriage legal or illegal? No. Since the nation's birth in 3305, GRSM people have been accepted.
Are schools allowed to refuse LGBT people? No. Any school that refuses LGBT people will be given a stern warning a first. Then a fine. If it happens three times in a row, then one of two things will happen. Either:
  • The contractor will lose their 'block' and the state will take the 'block' back, or:
  • The person in charge of the project will get ejected and replaced, and if no replacements are available then it will be (possibly temporarily) shuttered.
Are jobs allowed to refuse LGBT people? same as above.
Are restaurants and other services allowed to refuse service to LGBT people? same as above.
Are LGBT people allowed to adopt? LGBT are allowed to adopt. They go through the same channels as non-LGBT people.

Is gay marriage legal in any parts of your country, or has legislation on it not been passed yet? Yes, in the following states: Florida, South Missouri, South Kentucky, Virginia, Tennessee, and Georgia.
If no, why not? Some states are more religious, and so see marriage as between man and woman, though even these states usually give the option of civil unions. In fact, one state (Oklahoma) has even abolished the legal concept of marriage and implemented blanket civil unions, with marriage being a purely religious institution.
Are there any regions, states, provinces, etc. in your country that gay marriage is illegal? Mississippi and Alabama, although they acknowledge foreign licenses.
What percentage of your population is homosexual? 3.8%
Have religious or atheistic beliefs influenced your decision to make gay marriage legal or illegal? In MS and AL, yes.
Are schools allowed to refuse LGBT people? In MS, yes.
Are jobs allowed to refuse LGBT people? The centralized policy on that is that employers are allowed to refuse a position to anyone for any reason, although the states can and in many cases do deviate from that.
Are restaurants and other services allowed to refuse service to LGBT people? See above.
Are LGBT people allowed to adopt? See above.

Is gay marriage legal in any parts of your country, or has legislation on it not been passed yet? Legislation has been passed. It has been deemed illegal.
If no, why not? N/A
Are there any regions, states, provinces, etc. in your country that gay marriage is illegal? Yes, every state.
What percentage of your population is homosexual? Approximately 1-3%.
Have religious or atheistic beliefs influenced your decision to make gay marriage legal or illegal? Yes.
Are schools allowed to refuse LGBT people? No.
Are jobs allowed to refuse LGBT people? That's a matter of state law, rather than federal law. In some states an employer may be able to turn away an applicant or terminate an employee with no justification required, whereas in others said employer would have to supply a valid reason. Incidentally, sexual preferences generally wouldn't constitute a valid reason.
Are restaurants and other services allowed to refuse service to LGBT people? Generally speaking, a business owner is free to turn away any customer for any reason. If they choose to do so, it wouldn't necessarily be good for business.
Are LGBT people allowed to adopt? There's no law explicitly forbidding it. It's left to the discretion of the adoption agencies.

Are there any regions, states, provinces, etc. in your country that gay marriage is illegal? No, even if some organised groups (such as catholics) are able to enforce that gay marriage not be allowed in their unions.

Is gay marriage legal in any parts of your country, or has legislation on it not been passed yet? Legislation has made it clear homosexual marriage is wholly legal and equal to heterosexual marriage.
Are there any regions, states, provinces, etc. in your country that gay marriage is illegal? No, it is a federal law, and all states are in compliance.
What percentage of your population is homosexual? Very few. Official census data still hasn't bothered to poll however.
Have religious or atheistic beliefs influenced your decision to make gay marriage legal or illegal? Of course. That's why it's been illegal for so long. Only recent developments in the rise of secularism and a massive swing to the left have allowed such sweeping changes to occur.
Are schools allowed to refuse LGBT people? No. They would have their licence to practice education revoked if such a thing were to occur.
Are jobs allowed to refuse LGBT people? No. They could be sewed by the employee for discrimination.
Are restaurants and other services allowed to refuse service to LGBT people? No. They could be sewed for discrimination if it's purely for a reason of their sexuality.
Are LGBT people allowed to adopt? Of course. And it is highly encouraged by the government for families of all stripes to adopt children.

The Social-Democratic government has widely criticized governments still violating homosexual's rights to free marriage and freedom from discrimination.

Is gay marriage legal in any parts of your country, or has legislation on it not been passed yet? The State does not recognize the institution of marriage, period. Therefore, no legislation about the practice has been passed at all. We simply remind people that there are no tax breaks or any other perks to calling themselves married. We also remind people that the coding of an offspring is to be done by just one person, so as to avoid conflicting code and general kludgery. We are not biologicals, and must not try to imitate their weird code dice-rolling thing.
If no, why not? Along with the above, marriage of all sorts is strongly discouraged due to Decepticons' extreme tendency to be (or become) homicidally territorial within "home" territories - only accepting one person per territory and a possible not-yet-sapient offspring. However, if two people want to live together until they end up blasting each other to death over who "really" belongs there, they have that privilege...
Are there any regions, states, provinces, etc. in your country that gay marriage is illegal? No.
What percentage of your population is homosexual? None. Decepticons are asexual! Anyone with any sexuality at all has to be some immigrant who got his mind ported to a proper body.
Have religious or atheistic beliefs influenced your decision to make gay marriage legal or illegal? Legislation of this sort, if it existed, would be set according to science.
Are schools allowed to refuse LGBT people? "Schools" are archaic, and we don't use them for our educational needs. Our Advanced Educational Data Pack-Producing Institutes will be glad to take your money, even if they do think you're coded out of glitches for displaying some kind of biological trait like sexuality.

As for lower education, the Standard Educational Data Pack is installed prior to full activation, and all newly-built Decepticons MUST have one. That said, the installation is done at the Debugging Center, which - before ever reaching this step - also checks to make sure new-builts' Code meets approved standards. If they catch some kind of lousy biological-port code hidden in a new-built's base scripting (such as a desire for sex), they WILL delete it. We won't have OUR species going around "thinking with the little head" (or the female equivalent thereof) like a bunch of morons, regardless of the details.
Are jobs allowed to refuse LGBT people? Biologicals can't get paid work around here, period. The mines are thataway. They'll take anybody they can catch. *Points to where some slaves are laboring hard*
Are restaurants and other services allowed to refuse service to LGBT people? They CAN, legally speaking, but we're proper capitalists. Show a business the money, and you can expect smiles as long as you're a pleasant customer to deal with. If you aren't, expect the bum's rush, literally.
Are LGBT people allowed to adopt? *haughtily* The words abbreviated as "LGBT" are all biological statuses, and biologicals are not, under ANY circumstances, allowed to adopt Decepticons since that would put them - our natural inferiors - in a position of command and influence over the young Decepticon. The same goes for any roboticized immigrants who are still "biological inside" to such an extent that they still identify as a sexuality, instead of as a Decepticon like a proper citizen.

Is gay marriage legal in any parts of your country, or has legislation on it not been passed yet? There is no federal law regarding marriage, and gay marriage is legal in most cantons.
If no, why not? Socially-conservative religious politics in some cantons in New Iberia.
Are there any regions, states, provinces, etc. in your country that gay marriage is illegal? Several cantons in New Iberia have never permitted gay marriage, but there is a movement in some cantons in New Iberia and Gordia to re-prohibit it.
What percentage of your population is homosexual? 3%, but the percentage of bisexual and pansexual people is 7%.
Have religious or atheistic beliefs influenced your decision to make gay marriage legal or illegal? Vedastia and its cantons are secular states. New Iberia and Gordia have always been relatively socially-conservative compared to the rest of Vedastia, but religious-based politics has only come to the fore very recently.
Are schools allowed to refuse LGBT people? While there is no federal law prohibiting educational institutions from denying places to students on the basis of sexual orientation, all cantons prohibit state schools from doing so. Private educational institutions are prohibited from doing so in only a handful of cantons.
Are jobs allowed to refuse LGBT people? Both the federal and cantonal governments are prohibited from denying public-sector employment on the basis of sexual orientation. Private businesses are prohibited from doing so in only a handful of cantons
Are restaurants and other services allowed to refuse service to LGBT people? Public-sector services at all levels of government are prohibited from denying services on the basis of sexual orientation. Private-sector services, with the exception of medical treatment, are prohibited from doing so in only a handful of cantons.
Are LGBT people allowed to adopt? Yes, in most cantons.

Is gay marriage legal in any parts of your country, or has legislation on it not been passed yet?Gay marriage is legal. Marriage itself plays no role in politics, it is purely cultural.
If no, why not?
Are there any regions, states, provinces, etc. in your country that gay marriage is illegal?
No, and if any county council did attempt to criminalize gay marriage, the law would be marked as null and void.
What percentage of your population is homosexual?
Around 23%.
Have religious or atheistic beliefs influenced your decision to make gay marriage legal or illegal?
Definitely. The Cultural Revolution supported queer rights and also atheism.
Are schools allowed to refuse LGBT people?
No. Anyone that did would be stripped of citizenship.
Are jobs allowed to refuse LGBT people?
No. Same as above.
Are restaurants and other services allowed to refuse service to LGBT people?
See above.
Are LGBT people allowed to adopt?
Definitely. Discrimination based on sexuality is illegal in almost anything.
