Brief Description and Status of Project (optional): The Free City of Wiedheim is a city-state, located on a main island and a few outlying islands. Therefore, the city has a long history of the need to manage its space as efficiently as possible. Yet, it also has a history as a cultural hub, with its amount of temples dedicated to the Cults of the numerous pagan religions represented in the city. The UoW and its campus, located in the District of Ringburg (where the administration sits as well) is the only university in the city and was founded in 1509.
It has also always been a major trade hub; its economic meaning finds itself in the huge banking sector nowadays.
With the population mushrooming and the space getting smaller, more efficient solutions needed to be found. Today, the Magistrat as the city-council mainly consists of engineers, skilled city planners, and representatives of Wiedheimer IT companies, to make sure, that each square meter of the area is used as productively as possible, with the help of technology. The solutions include a huge and dense digital infrastructure, automation processes, as well as flawless traffic management on both roads and rails. Since 1995, the Wiedheimer Batzen has been a purely digital currency.
People jokingly say, that Wiedheim has more server rooms than convenience stores per capita.
