How strict are your nation's borders?
Very strict

From where do the majority of your nation's immigrants come from?
Most likely Artisia, Borea, and Velkia

How long does it take for an immigrant to become a legal citizen in your nation/what are the requirements?
Immigrants usually take 4 to 5 years to naturalize and gain citizenship. To obtain citizenship via nationalization, one must:
  • be a permanent resident, or a resident legal alien that has lived in Pavonistade for a consecutive 365 days
  • live in Pavonistade for a minimum of five years, of which three is consecutive (1,095 days)
  • not hold any significant criminal records (e.g. convictions or record for felonies)
  • not be affiliated with any organizations intending to commit wrongdoing (e.g. terrorist organization)
  • speak sufficent Pavon or Luziycan, both of which are the official languages of Pavonistade
  • have sufficient knowledge of Pavonistade as demonstrated in a citizenship test, including:
    • knowledge of the federal, province, and one's municipal or local governments
    • knowledge of the history of Pavonistade
    • knowledge of the geography of Pavonistade
    • knowledge of the cultures and society of Pavonistade
    • knowledge of rights and responsibilities of a citizen
Does your nation take in refugees? If so, from where? How are they accommodated? Do they need to have a sponsor before they can enter?
Refugees are accepted from various regions, particularly from places devastated by armed conflict or disasters (e.g. famine). Refugees may also be accepted if they are fleeing from a place where they may be persecuted. An open integration policy in Pavonistade helps refugees integrate in Pavonistadian society while allowing them to maintain their culture. A refugee would need to be sponsored by a group of at least three people, which must prove they can provide the refugee(s) with necessities and resources for one year.

In general, what is the population's stance on immigrants/refugees? What is your native population's opinion of them (are they looked down upon, accepted, etc)?
Pavonistadian stance towards immigrants/refugees are neutral-to-positive. There is a slight negative stigma for immigrants that choose not to integrate into Pavonistadian society (e.g. not attempting to learn Pavon or Luziycan). On the other hand, immigrants that contribute greatly to Pavonistade are very positively recognized for their efforts.

Are immigrants required to learn your nation's first language/any other things to assimilate into your nation's culture?
Immigrants are required to learn enough Pavon or Luziycan to get through daily life. Speaking enough Pavon and Luziycan is also a requirement for citizenship.

What percentage of your population are immigrants?
15.8% of Pavonistadians are foreign-born.

Where do most of your nation's immigrants/refugees tend to live?
Immigrants either live together in certain ethnic enclaves, or are spread out in urban or suburban areas.

What kind of paperwork is required for entry/immigration into your nation? Are these papers hard to obtain?
One must submit an immigration application to the Pavonistadian Department of Immigration Services, under the Ministry of Domestic Affairs. The application must be accepted, which indicated that the person has proven that they can contribute to Pavonistadian society or otherwise have a valid reason to immigrate. One must also submit also all necessary documents for identification (e.g. birth certificates).

What is your nation's policy on visitors from another nation/tourists into your nation?
A visitors may be free to travel to Pavonistade, or travel there without a visa, with a visa (on or before arrival), or with special arrangements. All such requirements depend on what country is being dealt with. Pavonistade usually reciprocates the visa/travel policies of a country; for example, if country X allows Pavonistadians citizens to travel there without a visa, Pavonistade should allow Country X citizens to travel under the same visa-free conditions. Sterile travel is permitted.

Would your nation accept refugees from a country it was fighting in a war against?
Yes. Any such refugees would be put through stringent vetting processes to ensure they are not a risk to Pavonistadian society or people.

Does your nation have anything like green cards/visas?
A person who successfully applies for permanent residency will be issued a permanent resident card that they will have to carry at all times for identification.

How strict are your nation's borders?
It depends. Some areas are patrolled more strictly than others. For example, in the mountainous areas of the north, there are no fences and only a few signs, due to the harsh environment which means that immigrants find it very difficult to cross. On the other hand, the nation's oceans are patrolled quite frequently and strictly due to our situation as an island, many immigrants tend to arrive by boat.
From where do the majority of your nation's immigrants come from?
Mostly from Eastern European or Balkan countries.
How long does it take for an immigrant to become a legal citizen in your nation/what are the requirements?
Everybody is vetted. If you don't pass the vetting (significant criminal record, intent on terror, etc) your application will be denied until you can prove that you are not a danger to our country. Almost everybody must pass a beginner's language test - unless you can prove that you or the person you're applying for is too old/young/has other problems, etc. After passing the test (scoring 70% or above), you may apply through the following methods:
MARRIAGE - a person becomes an automatic citizen of Sezraha upon marriage to a Sezran citizen.
BIRTHRIGHT - a person born to a Sezran parent automatically becomes a citizen of Sezraha, no matter where in the world they are born. This is unless the parent specifically denies Sezran citizenship to the child such as due to obtaining another from a nation where dual nationality is not permitted or under another circumstance. A non-citizen born in Sezraha to non-Sezran parents can apply for citizenship upon their first birthday. They must have lived with a parent or guardian in Sezraha for the duration of the year, or they will have to wait another year and try again.
NATURALISATION - a registered refugee may become a naturalized citizen after living in Sezraha continuously for 2 years upon completion of the NIT (national integration test), attendance of at least 2 skills training workshops and applying for a job (unless too young/old/other problem, etc). Other applicants must have lived in Sezraha continuously for 3 years, and have completed the NIT. You must have previously applied for asylum before entering or upon entry to Sezraha (unless you can prove an extreme circumstance) or you will be deported if caught and will have to enter again.
Does your nation take in refugees? If so, from where? How are they accommodated? Do they need to have a sponsor before they can enter?
Yes. We don't take in many right now, but during the past many refugees came to settle in Sezraha after fleeing from the Balkan war, following the process mentioned above.
In general, what is the population's stance on immigrants/refugees? What is your native population's opinion of them (are they looked down upon, accepted, etc)?
Nobody really cares. A citizen is considered a citizen, no matter what.
Are immigrants required to learn your nation's first language/any other things to assimilate into your nation's culture?
They must pass the NIT and a beginner's language test.
What percentage of your population are immigrants?
About 80%, if you include Sezran citizens from other backgrounds. The native Sezran population is very low. Of this, about 25% are non-citizen immigrants.
Where do most of your nation's immigrants/refugees tend to live?
Multigenerational immigrants tend to live nearer cities where there are more skilled jobs available. Recent immigrants tend to work in factories or farms in more rural areas, but there are of course many exceptions.
What kind of paperwork is required for entry/immigration into your nation? Are these papers hard to obtain?
You need to supply a fingerprint and a document with a recent picture of you.
What is your nation's policy on visitors from another nation/tourists into your nation?
Tourism is quite a big sector in Sezraha. Visitors from certain neighboring countries have a legal right to residence in Sezraha after passing the vetting and tests. Visitors from other countries will have to apply online, and, depending on the country, may have to be interviewed at an embassy. We welcome anyone from anywhere who has applied for a visa. Most tourist visas expire after a month, while business visas after 2 and official visas after 3. One may renew their visa no more than once per year - this must be done at an embassy outside of Sezraha. After the expiry of a visa, you must apply for a new one in order to be admitted into Sezraha.
Would your nation accept refugees from a country it was fighting in a war against?
We don't have a military.
Does your nation have anything like green cards/visas?
We have visas for official, business and tourist visits. We have green cards in place of the Universal Identity Card (uID) for non-citizens to be used as a driver's license, to buy things or enter areas with restrictions, etc.

How strict are your nation's borders? Not especially strict; some highly sensitive parts of the border are fenced off, and most road access is controlled by checkpoints, but for the most part the borders are fairly open.
From where do the majority of your nation's immigrants come from? Chiefly from Sercia.
How long does it take for an immigrant to become a legal citizen in your nation/what are the requirements? About five years, or two years under some circumstances. Military service in an Imperial provincial legion grants automatic citizenship.
Does your nation take in refugees? If so, from where? How are they accommodated? Do they need to have a sponsor before they can enter? The Empire does not differentiate between refugees and other international travelers; expedited visas are available in emergencies.
In general, what is the population's stance on immigrants/refugees? What is your native population's opinion of them (are they looked down upon, accepted, etc)? Generally they are viewed neutrally.
Are immigrants required to learn your nation's first language/any other things to assimilate into your nation's culture? Being fluent in one of the many Imperial languages (Aldinais, Ostisch, etc.) is part of the citizenship test, but cultural assimilation is not required.
What percentage of your population are immigrants? About ten percent.
Where do most of your nation's immigrants/refugees tend to live? Immigrants tend to live in industrial cities where work can be found easily.
What kind of paperwork is required for entry/immigration into your nation? Are these papers hard to obtain? Entry visas are not especially difficult to obtain (generally they'd require a very good reason to deny an entrant); residency papers are a bit harder.
What is your nation's policy on visitors from another nation/tourists into your nation? If they've got a visa, they're fine.
Would your nation accept refugees from a country it was fighting in a war against? Again, we do not differentiate between refugees and other international travelers.
Does your nation have anything like green cards/visas? Yes; travel visas and work visas are both issued by the Imperial government.

The Montesardi Republic and Immigration

How strict are your nation's borders?: Moderately strict.
From where do the majority of your nation's immigrants come from?: South Fillicia, North Fillicia, Lykosia & Lubyak.
How long does it take for an immigrant to become a legal citizen in your nation/what are the requirements?: Three years after passing the Standardised Exam of Montesardi History and Citizenship and stable employment for 15 months.
Does your nation take in refugees? If so, from where? How are they accommodated? Do they need to have a sponsor before they can enter? Yes, however, only 5000 per year. They can come from any part of the Borealias and require no sponsor. They are only accommodated with language classes and government support for employment.
In general, what is the population's stance on immigrants/refugees? What is your native population's opinion of them (are they looked down upon, accepted, etc)?: Montesardi culture is historically tolerant of other ethnic groups, even adapting some of their traditions to that of their own. In modern times, refugees are viewed with pride and glee, mostly because the Montesardi public feel like they are helping.
Are immigrants required to learn your nation's first language/any other things to assimilate into your nation's culture?: An immigrant must learn one of the three official languages of the Montesardi Republic.
What percentage of your population are immigrants?: 3.6%

What kind of paperwork is required for entry/immigration into your nation? Are these papers hard to obtain?: Minimal, some sort of valid identification from the nation of origin. Later, with such document in hand, an extensive background check is done to ensure the validity of the claims of refugee status.
What is your nation's policy on visitors from another nation/tourists into your nation?: Actively accepting and encouraged.
Would your nation accept refugees from a country it was fighting in a war against?: No.
Does your nation have anything like green cards/visas?: The Montesardi government makes use of Migrant ID cards and visas for others.
A FanT nation with a nekomimi majority. This nation, obviously, does not resemble my actual political ideology. Also note that I disregard NS Stats, please refer to my factbook for verified information.

How strict are your nation's borders? Not very strict.
From where do the majority of your nation's immigrants come from? Chaotic, half-submerged regions like China, Japan, Europe, eastern India and the American east coast.
How long does it take for an immigrant to become a legal citizen in your nation/what are the requirements? The process is very short - the only requirement is that the immigrant has not done anything that would be considered a crime in Karamiko.
Does your nation take in refugees? If so, from where? How are they accommodated? Do they need to have a sponsor before they can enter? We take in refugees, primarily from the partially submerged regions listed above. Refugees are given full citizenship and the government treats them like it does everyone else. No sponsor is needed.
In general, what is the population's stance on immigrants/refugees? What is your native population's opinion of them (are they looked down upon, accepted, etc)? Karamiko is a nation of refugees - it was in fact founded by refugees from the newly-submerged regions of the world in the wake of the great climate shift. Refugees are not only accepted, they are the fabric of this country.
Are immigrants required to learn your nation's first language/any other things to assimilate into your nation's culture? No, although it's highly recommended.
What percentage of your population are immigrants? 15.1%
Where do most of your nation's immigrants/refugees tend to live? More of them live on the coasts, and less in the interior.
What kind of paperwork is required for entry/immigration into your nation? Are these papers hard to obtain? The only thing required is a formal request for citizenship that has been approved by the government. The form for this is quite easy to obtain, being a printable document on Karamiko's website.
What is your nation's policy on visitors from another nation/tourists into your nation? They're quite welcome, as long as they aren't breaking any laws.
Would your nation accept refugees from a country it was fighting in a war against? Yes, although I can't imagine how Karamiko would get itself into a war.
Does your nation have anything like green cards/visas? No.

How strict are your nation's borders? Semi-militarized to other neighbors, but more open with allies.
From where do the majority of your nation's immigrants come from? Fumihiko, and other various places.
How long does it take for an immigrant to become a legal citizen in your nation/what are the requirements? About 6 years, and they can't be affiliated with any terrorist organization (wouldn't be let in anyway), can't have a serious criminal record of any sort, and take a citizenship test detailed below under "Assimilation". Finally, they must be employed in Fostoria or have proof of at least some sort of work lined up for them, especially if they are bringing a family.
Does your nation take in refugees? If so, from where? How are they accommodated? Do they need to have a sponsor before they can enter? Not usually, it is too easy for other bad people from the war-torn area to pose as refugees and cause trouble. However, refugees are sometimes allowed in the case of people feeling a brutal regime or something along those lines.
In general, what is the population's stance on immigrants/refugees? What is your native population's opinion of them (are they looked down upon, accepted, etc)? Immigrants are generally accepted as Fostorians (Fostoria strongly follows civic nationalism rather than ethnic nationalism). Any refugees from troublesome populations wouldn't be let in.
Are immigrants required to learn your nation's first language/any other things to assimilate into your nation's culture? Yes, all immigrants must lean Standard Fostorian, the combination of South and Middle Fostorian, however they are still free to speak their native language. To assimilate, they must know some basic historical facts about the nation, learn about the political system/government, be taught about Fostorian culture, know their constitutional rights, responsibilities to the nation, and finally swear allegiance to the Grand Emperor.
What percentage of your population are immigrants? Around 2%
Where do most of your nation's immigrants/refugees tend to live? A lot of immigrants live in the southern cities of Des'en Korelia and Kourgale. There is also a sizeable immigrant population in Minden.
What kind of paperwork is required for entry/immigration into your nation? Are these papers hard to obtain? A background check must be provided for entry, but a much more intensive series of papers must be provided if seeking residence.
What is your nation's policy on visitors from another nation/tourists into your nation? Welcomed, as long as they don't cause trouble.
Would your nation accept refugees from a country it was fighting in a war against? This depends. A lot of the wars Fostoria has fought have resulted in the country on the other end being annexed into the state or subjugated, so they may be brought into camps on the Fostorian side of the border until the situation had been resolved.
Does your nation have anything like green cards/visas? Yes, there is a "Work Card".

Are immigrants required to learn your nation's first language/any other things to assimilate into your nation's culture? They can be from a variety of places but mostly Syria, Palestine and Afghanistan,

How strict are your nation's borders? Our border to the Republic of Ireland (Southern border) is heavily patrolled and almost not able to being passed. In contrast, we have open borders with Northern Ireland resp. the United Kingdom (in the East).
From where do the majority of your nation's immigrants come from? Most are refugees from the Republic of Ireland.
How long does it take for an immigrant to become a legal citizen in your nation/what are the requirements? There are many requirements such as no criminal background, willingness to work, being a Christian, being assimilated and loving both Donnegall and the United Kingdom while opposing Republican Irish unionism. Illegal immigrants are usually deported except for true refugees.
Does your nation take in refugees? If so, from where? How are they accommodated? Do they need to have a sponsor before they can enter? Yes, Donnegall takes true refugees (as many as it can bear). It takes many Irish ones fleeing the Republic of Ireland while we also grant asylum to political refugees from other liberal countries than the R.o.Ireland such as Carles Puigdemont from Spain which invaded his fatherland Catalonia. Of course they have to accomodate if they want to stay forever in Donnegall. Reasonless sponsoring is not tolerated. They get benefits in kind, not in money.
In general, what is the population's stance on immigrants/refugees? What is your native population's opinion of them (are they looked down upon, accepted, etc)? If they are willing to stay well-behaved and not causing troube, my population is fine with true refugees or legal immigrants as many as Donnegall can bear.
Are immigrants required to learn your national language/any other things to assimilate into your nation's culture? Yes, they have to fully assimilate and to work.
What percentage of your population are immigrants? This is hard to tell as we don't really count Irish refugees and British immigrants as "foreigners".
Where do most of your nation's immigrants/refugees tend to live? Refugees live in refugee camps as long as they can be sent back to their homeland or become legal immigrants. Illegal immigrants become deported.
What kind of paperwork is required for entry/immigration into your nation? Are these papers hard to obtain? A passport of course and official ocuments for immigrants.
What is your nation's policy on visitors from another nation/tourists into your nation? Almost no controls for tourists from the United Kingdom, while from the Republic of Ireland, visiting Donnegall is almost impossible. Tourists from other countries are being well controlled and need a visa. They must neither do nor say anything that promotes pro-Irish, anti-Donnegallian or anti-British sentiment.
Would your nation accept refugees from a country it was fighting in a war against? Only if they swear fidelity to Donnegall.
Does your nation have anything like green cards/visas? Yes, tourists from countries other than the UK need a visa.
Not using NS Stats while you can use our Policies for reference.

How strict are your nation's borders? They have historically been extremely strict. However, the inter-Clan borders have been nearly irrelevantized (can’t think of a better word at the moment, though I know there is one) and, though the Clans are still strict about non-Clan cats treapassing, they are more peaceful and willing to listen to an explanation as to why someone is trespassing.

From where do the majority of your nation's immigrants come from? They are mainly kittypets or loners from the Twolegplace.

How long does it take for an immigrant to become a legal citizen in your nation/what are the requirements? A Clan leader must agree for them to join and they must be apprenticed to a warrior or medicine cat.

Does your nation take in refugees? If so, from where? How are they accommodated? Do they need to have a sponsor before they can enter? There are currently no cats that would need to seek refuge in the UC.

In general, what is the population's stance on immigrants/refugees? What is your native population's opinion of them (are they looked down upon, accepted, etc)? In recent seasons, they have been more accepted; however, some cats, most notably of ShadowClan, are still wary of outsiders.

Are immigrants required to learn your nation's first language/any other things to assimilate into your nation's culture? They are encouraged, but not required, to take a Clan cat name, and before they can become a warrior, they are expected, as are all Clan cats, to take an oath pledging their loyalty to the Clans and the warrior code

What percentage of your population are immigrants? Approximately 3-10%?

Where do most of your nation's immigrants/refugees tend to live? Currently they are mainly taken in to RiverClan, WindClan and ThunderClan, due to the leaders’ policies and partially due to ThunderClan’s legacy of taking in strays.

What kind of paperwork is required for entry/immigration into your nation? Are these papers hard to obtain? Cats cannot write; as such, they need only oral permission.

What is your nation's policy on visitors from another nation/tourists into your nation? Visitors are generally discouraged unless they have a valid reason; however, this policy has been gently relaxed in recent moons.

Would your nation accept refugees from a country it was fighting in a war against? It would, though it is currently at peace.

Does your nation have anything like green cards/visas? No.

How strict are your nation's borders?

We have no border restrictions, though the two nations bordering us do. Mexico has light border restrictions, and only has a decorative fence to mark where their border police can patrol, whereas Canada has strict borders and built the worlds largest border wall.

From where do the majority of your nation's immigrants come from?

Latin America, China, India, and the EU.

How long does it take for an immigrant to become a legal citizen in your nation/what are the requirements?

All you have to do to become a citizen is live here for one month or sign a form at a courthouse.

Does your nation take in refugees? If so, from where? How are they accommodated? Do they need to have a sponsor before they can enter?

Yes, from everywhere that sends refugees. In particular, we took in three million Syrian refugees. They are treated the same as any other Imperial citizens, and we do not require a sponsor.

In general, what is the population's stance on immigrants/refugees? What is your native population's opinion of them (are they looked down upon, accepted, etc)?

Many of native-born citizens are somewhat xenophobic and racist. Thankfully, because we are an absolute monarchy, we don't have to listen to their bigotry or.let it influence our policies.

Are immigrants required to learn your nation's first language/any other things to assimilate into your nation's culture?

They are not required to, but we offer free English speaking classes to all citizens.

What percentage of your population are immigrants?

34%

Where do most of your nation's immigrants/refugees tend to live?

Spread out across the whole country, but usually in the major cities.

What kind of paperwork is required for entry/immigration into your nation? Are these papers hard to obtain?

No, but immigrants who have lived here for less than one month must sign a free form at any courthouse.

What is your nation's policy on visitors from another nation/tourists into your nation?

Legal with no restrictions.

Would your nation accept refugees from a country it was fighting in a war against?

Yes, and we would encourage their citizens to flee here in order to strengthen us and weaken our enemy.

Does your nation have anything like green cards/visas?

No. America is the Land of the Free. We take pride in not requiring people to show their papers to live or travel here. We don't even require passports.
I have left NationStates. This account is inactive and will not respond to any form of communication.
