In so far as simple participation is concerned I should think that if you have formal diplomatic relations with Gauliscia then there's no reason why your representatives wouldn't be there.

What if it's concerned with outreach as I'm new to the region and as far as regional cannon is concerned have been relatively isolationist until recent

Democratization will start gradually as the government retains more centralized/socialist authority but elections for a National Assembly begin. The transition has to be gentle. As Supreme Overlord dies the people will ultimately decide on who to replace him. Although the Military Industrial Complex has the power ultimately to protect their entire status quo.

The colonies can go wherever works on the map and like you I'm still waiting on Ach but I'm in no rush.

Yay! Go Free- markets dom! That makes sense actually, there are many forms of democracy and all are flawed. A Russia/Turkey/Thailand is usually the case for countries in-progress of democratising (which Wanka is too).

Regarding Suitor's Luck, I sent the Wankan ambassador, so why not? We could plot (together with the New Phallians) to form a new world order... or more like defend against the wild cultists out there.

Copying here so as not to clutter the RMB from the Discord discussion;

"What is the ethnic/linguistic composition of the map? I imagined that it was something along these lines: http://i.imgur.com/e6UgxMx.png I haven't accounted for New Phallia or the other colonised nations." -Dem

About right yes though it depends on applicants and I won't restrict too much insofar location and ethnicity are concerned. Not many non-white nations around, though they'd be more than welcome.

I wanted to get to the map but held back before Achesia blasts me again for piling work onto him. The realism addict in me wants to work out climate, wind-weather patterns, plate tectonics as well as some changes to empty parts of the map. I might as well bring them up for discussion.

1. Wind patterns something like this, (http://paraglidinginfo.com/wp-content/u ... tterns.gif) which came up while looking at piracy and trade (pirate RP anyone?), which would help figure out trade winds
2. Plate tectonics to figure out where mountains are (and undersea terrain and islands, like for submarines), based on continents and current islands
3. Changes to maps, minor changes: Separating Cestria from Aurus, and Anaia from Aurus/Narland, and maybe removal of the 'Amerindian' part you labelled, as that looks a tad unnatural. We have plenty of land as is. We're also assuming there's the Arctic/Antarctica to the north and south even if they're not visible.

Again, any changes will not affect built-up areas like Hespera and Meridia and figuring out climate and weather will be to support and be fitted to how we wish it to be. Now I imagine the equator to be along the not-East Asian (lower Aurus) latitude to allow for deserts just above and below it. I'm far from an expert on these things so any input will be appreciated.

@Aemen, @Christoslavia

Nice edits in the canon document, just what I had in mind. What if the West Collective Trust that colonised western Aurus (where Christoslavia is) originated from and was one of Aemen's major colonies, because he is after all anglo-saxonish? We'll need to figure out more colonies for Aemen too; maybe the first Meridian settlers to New Phallia and Atla were also Aemenites explaining the composite composition of language and ethnicity there.

How and when the business turned into a nation itself is up to you guys though there are many plausible reasons for that.

Regarding decolonisation of Aemen, perhaps that came after a major naval war between Aemen and Wanka which allowed Wanka unrestricted passage through the Meridian Sea to the Estour Ocean (before which it was easy for Aemen to blockade us and prevent major colonies).

Anyways, it fits in perfectly to me if the above would work.

@Muro that all sounds perfectly logical to me. Yes they could have originated from Aemen and took advantage of their waning influence to create a corporatocracy without their interference.

And if the continent name Aurus could originate from the latin (Inorothian) Aurum, which means Gold, in reference to the gold mines found in New Phallia/Atla as well as Christoslavia which may or may not let me create a pirate republic sometime in history (which I may or may not want to RP) that would be simply a fucking beautiful set of coincidences.

Aurus looks oddly masculine for a continent. Meridia also looks like meridianus/a/um with the ending clipped off, so presumably means 'the mid-day continent' or 'southern continent.' I imagine Herspera as a bastardisation of Hesperia, which is sort of like the term Occident in its meaning. It's at least west of Aemen, or we could say it's just western from the Inorothian perspective (sort of how Chinese maps have their country in the middle), so the Inorothians saw themselves as being situated to the west of Aemen. And then since Aurus is just even further east beyond Meridia.

Continents should be female? I believe you're right, for continent names we brainstormed a bit and put them on a doc and Achesia took the liberty of naming them and the oceans. Perhaps the Inoroth-Aemen-south Wankan area is like the 'cradle of civilisation' with Inoroth the source of Christianity. Hespera is the west side of the Meridian Sea (which the center?).

Europe and Asia both derive their names from women (according to classical tradition anyway). America was named after a man (which one seems a bit of a controversy) but the word itself is clearly feminine.

America is feminine in Italian though... Just like how the name Robert is male and Roberta is female. Though named after a man, America is still female.

You may indeed take it to be so, but then again you may not -- only you have the power to decide how you see reality (not that reality much cares what you or anyone thinks, only what they do.)

I'm thinking of making an East Asian themed puppet for this region...

Tentative map update, which can be considered semi-official for now and revokable by Achesia.

- Christoslavia, Percy Island, Cyrden added
- Due to rising sea levels associated with human-caused climate change, continents Cestria and Anaia have had their land borders with Aurus completely submerged, and 2nd Cestria to the far east has also disappeared

Asian, African, Arab or any other ethnicity analogue will be most welcome, as most of us are currently whiteish (along with being constitutional monarchies). However, do note the pop cap on puppets, and only apply if you plan on RPing to a somewhat active degree (like a post every two weeks).

The continents? I mentioned it somewhere up here, though there was no response to it. Mind you its only suggestions to the ongoing map development which have to happen, I know even though the changes are minor it will be a major hassle to modify the other maps accordingly, which I am willing to do though (in addition to wind/ocean currents, tectonics).

The modifications I suggest are with a view toward trade routes, mainly, and having those land connections between continents impeded this. Opening also gives much more area for coastal spots, naturally people wouldn't want to be landlocked within Aurus.

An eye also toward the possibility of developing more separate civilisations in Cestria, apart from the main ones around Meridia/Hespera. The 2nd Cestria below Tivernis looks a bit awkward, its quite isolated and I really don't know what to make of its climate?

Again, I'm just thinking ahead long-term for the map and putting this out here for clarity and debate. I'm talking weeks and possibly months if any changes are to be implemented and I don't want anyone to stress about this. Please don't get me wrong.

Mainly I'm concerned with putting Christo, Cyrden and Percy/Springstile on the map though.
