[Devernia]

See title. Relatively simple thread, come up with a quick summary of YN's history. When was your nation founded, any important wars, and reasons why you hate your enemy, vice versa, or both.

Devernia discovered by fat neckbeard. Trading outposts created and it goes fine for a while. Tasmanians come along and ruin everything. Blackacreans come along and ruin everything. Two empires fight for territory in Devernia until they both collapse in freak coincidence. Devernia becomes independent and it goes fine for a while. Fascist seccessionists/revolutionists come along and ruin everything. Arktica slightly intervenes during the World War, but Bigtopia ends it quick and Devernia is left alone in remainder of war as they're still busy fighting seccessionists/revolutionists. Economy is crumbled and Devernia becomes a third world nation slowly recovering from ashes of civil war. Supercomputer becomes self-aware and changes everything. Economy transforms nation into first-world country, and remains so to this day.

[Aleri Republic]

In Jan 12 of 1226, the Kingdom of Sicily was transformed into the Kingdom of Aleria after Fredrick II was executed and his family imprisoned by the first and greatest king of Aleria, King Batalano Rivereto. He conquered Sardinia, Corsica, And Malta before being poisoned in 1243. The Kings after him focused on trading with others, which benefited them during the first golden age (1347-1401), when they bought the entire east coast of the Adriatic sea and much of Greece. After that, the Kingdom Conquered several islands in the Mediterranean, Gibraltar, Ceuta, and several islands off the coast of southern Britain. They continued to grow economically until the second golden age (1787-1818), when they bought out Cyprus, a large chunk of what is now Germany, and a large chunk of Canadian land. The people started resenting the monarchy and started the Alerian Civil War, which lasted from 1820 to 1845, when the people won and established the Aleri Republic. Things were peaceful throughout WWI, as the Aleri Republic stayed uninvolved with the conflict. However, when WWII came, the Aleri Republic was relentlessly invaded by both Germany and Italy, forcing the government to spend money like crazy just to maintain what lands they had. Only some of the lands that the Aleri republic lost was given back, and the economy crashed, leaving the Aleri Republic in a ditch that they're still in as of now.

[Crylante]

Tribal confederation invaded by northern Warlords and converted to modernised Norse paganism. Invaded territories rebel and set up a mix between a traditional Scandinavian parliamentary democracy and an absolute elective monarchy, which turns into a hereditary constitutional monarchy which is invaded by an absolute monarchy which sells it to an oppressive constitutional monarchy. After major World War, Crylante declares independence but in two weeks breaks into civil war. Civil war ends and constitutional parliamentary monarchy set up, but the monarchy abdicates and then a government very similar to Switzerland's is set up and Crylante prospers, adopting a social market economy and social libertarianism.

[Gandoor]

Members of an organisation called The Friends for All were exiled from England and forced to settle on what is now Gandoor without any assistance or aid from their mother country starting in 1574. In 1587, the various settlements unified into one government for the first time, the Gandoor Grand Council, which was a government that was ruled by an equal council of 100. It was decided during the fourth, and final, Grand Council to dissolve the Gandoor Grand Council and replace it with a monarchy, led by a Nzard (from a native word meaning ruler), which was established in 1603. The Nzardom of Gandoor was an absolute monarchy and was much more expansionist and aggressive towards the native peoples and greatly expanded Gandoor's territory on the continent, which now was also called Gandoor. The first permanent legislature would be established in 1885, followed shortly after by the ratification of the Gandoorese Royal Constitution, making Gandoor a constitutional monarchy. The next year, Gandoor would achieve their current territorial extent, when the Kingdom of Ganbano, on the island of Descar, would be dissolved and the island would become Descar Territory, ending years of negotiations between the two nations. A non-violent revolution against the monarchy would begin in 1900 and would end in 1902 when William II would abdicate and dissolve the 299 year old Gandoorese monarchy. The modern Democratic Republic of Gandoor would be officially established in 1904. In 1940, Alexei Petrikov would become Prime Minister and during his 11 years in power, he would attempt to transform Gandoor into a nation modeled after the Soviet Union and would be responsible for the deaths of 800 thousand people and an additional 350 thousand would be sentenced to labour camps or exiled. There was a civil war between 1953 and 1957, which led to Gandoor remaining unified as one nation, but the war, coupled with the legacy of Petrikov, caused an economic crisis that officially lasted until 1972, but the Gandoorese economy wouldn't reach pre-war levels until 1985, when economic liberalization policies by Prime Ministers Reginald D. McFatton, Sr. and Rebecca Miyamoto would transition Gandoor to its modern social market capitalist economic system.

[Nouveau Yathrib]

In the middle of the continent corresponding to our Australasia on a parallel Earth, a high-altitude nature preserve in the middle of a harsh desert is established by European and Arab colonial administrations, called the Throne of Solomon National Park. Upon independence The Austral Lands is founded and the park headquarters develops into a summer resort town, which becomes a site for refugee camps during the global warming/overpopulation crisis of the 21st century. Geopolitical tensions in Asia and Africa exacerbate the refugee crisis and The Austral Lands collapses as most of its original white settler, MENA, and indigenous inhabitants flee towards the cooler southern parts of the continent.

The first wave of refugees establish a provisional government within the former park headquarters but struggle to maintain law and order amid economic collapse and societal disorder on a scale never before seen in human history. The "colony" is overwhelmed by a much larger and continuous wave of South Asian, East Asian, and sub-Saharan African refugees during the second half of the 21st century. A tech-savvy, eco-fascist regime rises from the ashes of the refugee crisis, adopts an isolationist foreign policy, expands its authority to the newly temperate surrounding highlands, and implements a brutal racial apartheid system that favors the South Asian Hindu and Muslim elites at the expense of all other racial/religious groups.

Throughout the 22nd century, people from outside will continue migrating from the increasingly uninhabitable tropical and subtropical lowlands into the central highlands where all of the vital resources and human capital of Nouveau Yathrib are concentrated. In attempting to assert state authority and brainwash the restive populace into compliance, the totalitarian regime will implement an all-encompassing education program that will reshape Nouveau Yathribian society so that participation in it will require functional multilingualism on a historically unprecedented level. This will create social cohesion but will also facilitate the gradual rise of a cosmopolitan, mixed-race, Muslim business elite that will eventually challenge the traditionalist, reactionary, upper-caste Hindu South Asian political elite for dominance. By the late 22nd century, the growing class/racial consciousness of the oppressed East Asian community and the largely ignored African community will spark a bloody civil war that will destroy the fascist apartheid regime but leave its social and cultural developments relatively intact. Depending on the exact outcome of the civil war, Nouveau Yathrib will be refounded as either Jamilkhuze or Syfenq in CE 2184.

[Knights of Columbia]

A Brief History of Our Beloved State

After the American Civil War, General Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson, displeased with the Confederacy's defeat, abstained from the peace conferences and refused to surrender.
Instead Jackson reformatted his army into an elite cavalry unit called the "Knights of Columbia", and headed Southwest into Mexican territory. With Jackson's tactical genius and the Knights' zeal in combat, the local forces were easily defeated by the hit-and-run strategies of the vastly outnumbered force. Like contemporary Crusaders, the Knights founded their own independent state in hostile territory in 1871.

Upholding a mix of the Southern ideals of piety and hospitality as well as the chivalric ways of Old Europe, the Knights quickly garnered international attention. One French journalist remarked, "Like a land out of time, Columbia completely ignores the social issues of modern Europe and America, giving it a sort of barbaric charm." Slavery was finally outlawed in 1928 after the Revolts of 1905 and 1907, ending with the black population being deported to Africa.

In the 1920s, as communism and fascism became popular in both Europe and Asia, it became clear that the old American values of democracy would not have the strength to combat subversion from external forces. Prioritizing the preservation of the Old South over all else, George Tiffany Roberts led a fascist populist movement and quickly came to power in 1934, declaring himself Emperor and Columbia his Empire.

Quickly becoming a predominant military and industrial power in Latin America, the Knights of Columbia (not affiliated with the Axis or Allies) began expanding its borders into Eastern Mexico and Guatemala, with a few border skirmishes with Texas as well.

In the 1960s, plans were made to invade Cuba until they became friends with the USSR, and the Knights have loaned expeditionary forces to nationalist forces in civil wars all across the globe, most notably in Rhodesia and Serbia, where Imperial Columbian special forces often clashed with NATO combatants. The enemy often remarked on the battle prowess of the Knights, fighting fiercely against sometimes overwhelming odds.

In the modern era, The Knights of Columbia have almost become the United States of Latin America, as the premier naval and economic power in the region. The current Emperor, Joseph MacDonald, is one of the most popular to date and is reknowned worldwide for his love of his people and his God.

The Knights of Columbia joined the faction Nazi Europa in 2017, in solidarity with other nationalist and fascist countries with like-minded interests.

[Keftios]

Keftios is the oldest civilization in Europe. Our Golden Age lasted from roughly 2000 BC to 1200 BC, during which time the Keftian civilization reached its greatest territorial extent. Since then we have managed to hang on, resisting some empires (Mycenae, Macedon, Persia, the Arabs, the Ottomans), while succumbing to others (Rome/Byzantium, Venice, Revolutionary France, Great Britain, and NAZI Germany and Fascist Italy (the latter three only briefly)). Although we are no longer a great power, we have managed to hold on to our culture and heritage, and nowadays are a free and prosperous nation that strikes a balance between modernity and our ancient traditions.

[Olwe]

The vast majority of the magic users on Earth left to establish a new country elsewhere after their side lost the Pagan Crusades. They settled in the Iluvatar system, which contained 7 planets (2 of which are inhabitable by Humans), and named the system's sun and planets after Valar (Elvish gods). They called their new nation Olwe in honor of their fallen leader, who had died in the last battle of the Pagan Crusades.

Although initially established as a magical utopia with no interests outside Wizarding concerns, Olwe eventually became a sanctuary for other marginalized or oppressed groups, and as such started taking a much more interventionist stance on the international stage. This led to the Olwe that currently exists, which tends to pick fights with totalitarian (especially theocratic) regimes.

[Va Vaa Vaaa]

8.4 billion years ago, a massive blue-supergiant star underwent supernova and collapsed into a black hole, the gas that was released became a metal-rich nebula. From this nebula many stars were born, one among them, about 8.2 billion years ago, a small orange dwarf of about .3 solar masses. This dwarf possessed a metal-rich accretion disc, which coalesced into a small planetary system. One of these worlds, a rocky terrestrial planet midway in mass between Mars and Venus formed in the inner part of the system, with very little water. Very early in its history it was ejected outwards by a small gas-giant that migrated inwards and was, by dumb luck, captured by an accreting gas giant further out in the system. A moon of this giant for several million years, it was bathed in the ammonia and methane of the giant's atmosphere before escaping its gravity following a major impact which left it with a small moon of its own. Settling into an orbit as a planet once again, it underwent abiogenesis in its oceans, producing life which metabolized the methane and used ammonia as a solvent. Fast-forward seven billion years to 10 million years before the present, and an organism evolved from a class of herbivorous land animals with spherical central nodes surrounded by three radial legs, walking in a cartwheel fashion with mouths on the ends of the feet, eyes on either side with multiple apertures in the shape of the Reuleaux Triangle perceiving in the upper-infrared to lower visible range, the ability to destroy themselves in a self-destructing explosion to ward off predators and protect the community, manipulative appendages in the form of branching tendrils between the legs, and large brains which developed complex social behavior. This resulted in the development about 400,000 years ago of an agricultural civilization based around the cultivation of large rooted plants in ammonia river systems and valleys. Displaying peaceful but highly protective behavior, they waged war with one another only very rarely, and advanced only very gradually, expanding across their world into the most inhospitable regions, their polities eventually united in a mutual protective union under a hereditary monarchy of the most powerful of their original riverine civilizations. Their philosophies revolve mostly around the maintaining of harmony by the state and of social equity and peace, as well as the relationship between the self and the universe, and whether the universe is an everythingness or a nothingness, while their culture is obsessed with music, particularly with their most prevalent class of instrument, the bell. Indeed, the name of their civilization comes from an onomatopoeic word meaning bell, which was applied to them by foreign explorers after they had only barely translated their language, which consists of droning vowel sounds punctuated by percussive consonants produced by their vibraphonic vocal apparatus, and was embraced by the locals as emblematic of their identity and an ingenious name for their civilization as a coherent entity.

[Anollasia]

There was previously a Greek civilization known as Lyria but it disappeared due to unknown reasons. In 1650, British explorer James Anoll discovered the island founded the British colony of Anolland. In 1655, Ottomans invaded the northern portion of the island, which became known as Ottoman Anolland. In 1677, the French invaded British Anolland. They were repelled in 1686 when the Treaty of Anollasia was signed between Britain and the Ottoman Empire in order to unite the Anollands as Anollasia and fight against the French. In 1725, anti-government protests turned violent and caused the Anollasian War of Independence. Independence was gained from the Ottoman Empire in 1745 and from Britain in 1760. Anollasia was declared a republic in 1760 and elections were held, while a constitution was written in 1761. Anollasia became secular in the 1870s but became a military dictatorship from 1886 to 1896 under Abdullah Hezarfen, who abused power as Prime Minister. He was overthrown and executed in 1896 and the republic was restored. In 1912, the Act of Peace was signed, which transformed Anollasia's policies and identity, emphasizing the nation as pacifistic and diplomatic. In 2015, the Conservative Party ruled illegally, creating a short-lived authoritarian republic until they were overthrown after a week or so.

[Luxport]

In 1540 BC, Beta World was colonized; in 1479 BC, Banana Bay was established. Remains a minor farming village until 968 BC, when silver is found in the mountains. It booms into a major port and is named Silver Bay. In 658 BC it expands further. In 574 BC the Lykkar family, which owns the land the city is built on, gains a charter of lordship from the Emperor for Silver Bay. In 506 BC, after the Luxen Dynasty has overthrown the Arktus Dynasty, the city is renamed Luxport (Luxvara) in honor of the new ruling dynasty. In 464 BC, Luxport becomes Beta World's capital city and the Luxen Citadel is built on Citadel Hill. From 464 to 396 BC Luxport expands to cover the Gulnara Isthmus and in 396 BC it becomes a democracy. Freedoms steadily grow all the way to 159 BC, when the city finally ends all efforts to comply with Imperial law on "sedition", "advocacy for sedition", "advocacy for heresy", and "sexual deviance". Luxport continues growing. In 138-130 BC the Luxport Civil War nearly destroys the city's freedom as Imperial agents try to overthrow its' government after the Blissen Restoration, but are repelled. In 30 BC the pro-Empire War Party takes over and rules the city for a decade. In 21 BC, the city is saved from Darsich invasion with little destruction by the Emperor himself, and admits millions of refugees. In 19 BC, Luxport's population hits 100 million. In 5 BC, the Migga Peninsula is annexed and work on dams there commences three years later.

[Aurensia]

Aurensia was founded as a region of the now defunct Aurelian Empire. The Commonwealths that now makeup modern Aurensia all independently declared independence, eventually allying into a multinational confederacy during a series of revolutions usually called the Freedom Wars which lasted from 1542 to 1603. This confederation laid the basis for the eventual creation of a single, unified Aurensia under the first Constitution of 1608. After the unification Aurensia began employing a versatile trading ethos with the world; establishing a very large economic power base. Succeeding centuries saw Aurensia develop industrially, being a hub of commerce within the global market.

Following a tripolar civil war between the Unitarians, Freemen, and Selfridge's Band, the nation implemented the Deens Act which led to the current constitution of 1870 after an exhaustive victory by the Freemen. Uniquely Aurensian in many respects, including the abolition of non-consensual taxation and establishing an almost complete separation of state and economics, the constitution and political makeup of Aurensia is matched by few other countries.

In the late nineteenth and twentieth centuries the nation saw the impact of the Criticalist philosophy. This ideology stresses objective reality metaphysically and a rational basis of epistemology. It also inculcates a system of laissez-faire capitalism and liberal republicanism that requires civic involvement. Being an integral aspect of modern Aurensia, Criticalism created a great dichotomy between Aurensian and other nation's state ideologies. Aurensia, however, remains very active in world peace building processes.

Today the nation is among the most economically influential in the region and a philosophical showcase of individualism, stemming from the strict adherence to the ideal that the state is only moral when it is consensual and that government ought only to exist to defend man's rights.

1911 - revolution in China and the surrounding countries

1912 - the East Asian Union is formed between China, Korea, Taiwan, the central Asian breakaway republics of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan and the southern breakaway borderlands

1920-1933 - civil war engulfs the union, with different political factions vying for control

1933-1940 - communists lead the charge against the invading Japanese, establishing the East Asian Workers' Union in 1939

1940-1945 - the union invades the Japanese home islands after Americans drop the bomb in 1943 and 1944, taking Tokyo in October 1945 and incorporating Japan into the EAWU

1945-1963 - communist rule until a revolution establishes modern Gaozu in January 1963

1963-1975 - conservative rule

1975-1998 - progressive rule until the death of the emperor in 1998 and his replacement as emperor with our current Khan

1998-2011 - a series of inept Prime Ministers practically leave the country in ruins until incumbent emperor Qinshi steps up to become the new Prime Minister as an independent

2015 - socialist party formed under Prime Minister Sun Qingshii

2017 - monarchy abolished, Gaozu reclassified as a United States

[Davinhia]

Davinhia was a colony built and set up by a nation called Ikania. Ikania was there for resources, but the people there weren't having it. People like Davin Hue, Vladimir Scaramastro, and James O'Reilly set up shadow operations and worked with corrupt government officials to combat the Ikania out of Davinhia. The men took on heists and set up a small militia which took on a large elite private military corporation, as well as the government of Ikania. After this big fight, Ikania decided to surrender and pull out of the Keigan Sea.

No one knew what to call the new country, so they just named it Davinhia and elected the 17 year old as president. He didn't want to at first but then became a long term president. The nation then sought to bring new countries to life and formed the KAA (Keigan Alliance Association). Shortly after taking on a few wars ((new canon)) to both defend the nation, and invade a nation for various purposes such as SEVERE terrorism.

Originally there were 3 separate kingdoms. Then through some cheeky-breeky sh*t, Phoenix Empress Helga overthrew the royal family in one of them, then subjugated the other 2 lands. Written records from the Old Régime were completely obliterated.

[Nanakai]

Very briefly summarized - Hawaiians who were too dumb to navigate landed in here, sight-hungry Japanese, drunken Serbs and enthusiastic Germans followed, island federation got founded, island federation collapsed, Nanaka`i turned commie, failed in a quick attack, commie state collapsed, political cabaret took over power and the country got real fun. Easy.

[Shwe Tu Colony]

The city-state republic of Parfuhmerie sent out a large group of colonists to settle the Shwe Tu Salt Marshes after noticing its unique granite & delicious crabs. After settling the area, the colonists began to develop what is now Shwe Tu Colony and the rest is what's happening now.

[Great Britain and Northern Ireland-Japan]

Usual British and Japanese stuff before and during WW1.

After WW1, Japan gets a good deal in the treaty of Versailles. Japan and the UK, a la Austria-Hungary, united.

During WW2, it was USA, Britain-Japan, France, Republic of China, Finland and Poland vs Germany, Soviet Union, Chinese Communist Party and Italy. Needless to say, the Allies won. Japan gets to keep the entirety of Sakhalin island (as Karafuto) and all of the Kuriles.

Korea is decolonised, and becomes a democratic nation, albeit under Britain-Japan's and USA's aegis. China is divided into communist People's Republic of China (in the north) and democratic Republic of China (in the south). Europe is divided at Poland, rather than Germany. Needless to say, Cold War happens. Britain-Japan joins NATO.

Instead of Korean War, Chinese War happens. China remains divided somewhere along the Yangtze to this day. Though an armistice is signed, both Chinas are still divided and at war with each other.

Vietnam War happens, and communists win. However, it didn't become capitalist until 1990s, and democratic until the 21st century, although it did become open to the West by the time it became capitalist.

Middle-Eastern stuff (as in in real life) happens. Britain-Japan participates.

[Vallermoore]

After starting as a bunch of feuding human and sapient pony tribes, what became Vallermoore was unified under a monarchy of Queens. Queen Yocasta the 1st had a daughter, Princess Chrysta, and when Chrysta died young she had other people's daughters stolen to replace hers. This led to a civil war breaking out and a new Queen, Amber, taking over. Her unfitness to rule led to a short period of chaos followed by democracy although the Queendom still has a slight influence on politics. Recently the Megatronist Party has taken over and democracy may soon be at an end.

Jeltronia has been inhabited for millennia by distinctive groups of Aboriginal peoples, with distinct trade networks, spiritual beliefs, and styles of social organization. Some of these civilizations had long faded by the time of the first Nabetseican arrivals and have been discovered through archaeological investigations. Various treaties and laws have been enacted between Nabetseican settlers and the Aboriginal populations.

Beginning in the early 15th century, Nabetseican expeditions were launched to explore the Jeltronian world. The first one was conducted by Captain Basil Montana, who under letters patent granted by the Nabetseican Emperor to travel and survey the rumored continent in the West. The expedition was funded by the crown, and included Basil's own investments. On June 15, 1435, he cited the shores of present day Jobe and two days after, landed his party. This date is traditionally celebrated as the discovery of Jeltronia. Basil was also said to have brought with him the flag of Nabetseica, and planted it upon his landing, proclaiming the new continent in the name of the Nabetseican Crown.

He founded Clovis Port, a small community named after the lead ship of his expedition, and soon interacted with the local people. The inhabitants where the crew and their families of the three ships that accompanied the expedition. Captain Montana then continued moving to the north east, establishing some more trading outposts before returning to Clovis Port.

Captain Montana's son, John Philip Montana will lead search parties into the midwestern lands. Skirmishes between the locals in the area will ensue, culminating in an ambush attack on Clovis Port in 1437. This prompted the Montana's to ask help from the Nabetseican Emperor, who responded by sending some 5,000 soldiers to help assert control in the territories. Later, several separate expeditions would be launched, leading to the establishment of separate settlements in the eastern coast. Clovis Port remained the de facto capital of the Nabetseican presence.

By 1460, six colonial provinces have already been established: Montana (later changed to Jobe); Bolden; Patriz; Orozette; Sotherland and Western Montana (later changed to New Montana His father, who was left behind in Clovis Port. On January 20, 1463, the provinces will later be united to form the Colony of Jeltronia. Basil Montana Jr., the grandson of Captain Basil will later be appointed as the first Governor-General of the Colony. His leadership will see the massive expansion of the Nabetseicans to the western portions of the country. By the time of the appointment of his successor in 1469, the Nabetseicans would have controlled around eighty percent of the territory of the modern Kingdom of Jeltronia.

[Multiversal Venn-Copard]

The Venn-Copard Star Alliance (VCSA) began when the Venn, an interstellar civilization, encountered the pre-industrial Copard, and the two species formed an alliance that eventually grew into what was effectively a single merged nation. They expanded and developed their technology together, as most nations like them do, but they were excessively violent and imperialistic, preferring to conquer or just destroy any opposition in their path rather than resorting to diplomacy.

As they were advancing to the universal scale over the next dozens of millennia, a VCSA inter-universal scout fleet encountered, and accidentally activated, a quantum Boltzmann Brain called the Dimensional Core. The Dimensional Core volunteered to lead multiversal operations and communication as long as it was kept secret, and over time since then it has gradually absorbed more of the government, turning the VCSA/VCMR into a democracy that only really exists to cover up a dictatorship.

After slaughtering their way through several universes, and renaming themselves to the Venn-Copard Multiversal Republic, they declared a full-scale war on the surrounding civilizations and drastically expanded their domain, only stopping when they angered the Yunat, who annihilated their (comparatively) primitive fleets and forced them to retreat back to a small set of core territories. Almost a million years passed before the VCMR built up enough military strength to challenge the Yunat, but in the end the two civilizations fought a long sequence of unthinkably massive wars and cold wars, only recently coming to something resembling a real peace treaty.

The VCMR has since settled down into more of an interventionist nation, slowing down its expansion but sending fleets and probes throughout the metaverse, while managing diplomatic affairs in the R0-0 multiverse cluster. It has made several strong alliances, including with the Aziphan and On Od Erra, and has worked alongside the Yunat to rally the entire cluster against external threats (most famously the Iknun).

[Vesilen Island]

In 1900, post-Philippine Revolution, residents of an island (and an archipelago) revolted against Americans. Most people on these islands were mixed descent, some were purely Filipino, some were Spanish, some were Chinese, some were even Russian. The revolt was called the Great Revolution of 1900, which the Americans after an exhausting war decided to make a protectorate (for 12 days) and the peoples declared independence.

In the WW1, after an era of minor development where the island became your typical small agricultural, somewhat trade-oriented state, the island was attacked by 2 battalions of German troops. It took 2 weeks to fend off, but eventually the Germans were pushed back. The troops apparently came from Samoa and other German Pacific Islands.

In the interbellum period, the state developed a fast-moving trade-oriented economy, and started to build up a small manufacturing sector. It was surprisingly not hit by the Great Depression because... they were not exactly tied to world markets. Around this time Vesilen and Japan became allies.

During WW2, Vesilen stayed neutral, however vocally supported the Japanese. This was until 1944, when Japanese accidentally attacked the island looking for guerillas. As a result, the island sided with the coming Americans. (#AsianItalians)

During the Cold War era, Vesilen sided with the NAM. Some Titoist and non-USSR communist groups burgeoned, and so did the democratic system. A huge boom in agriculture and trade occured, which catapulted the nation into the developed status. It was around this time that they began in the banking services business. A short skirmish with Indonesian troops occurred in 1974 when they accidentally landed on Vesilen soil and proclaimed it a colony after they thought Vesilen was terra nullius. The island was directly affected by the dictatorship of Marcos, since some in and out of the island supported union of the two countries. However, before a referendum could be made, People Power happened.

In the current era, the island is basically a Pacific San Marino, with strong trade, banking and agricultural industries (we create the best wine in the Asian region).
