Does your nation support China or Taiwan?

PostPosted: Tue Jan 24, 2017 3:31 pm
by Laeral
Does your nation support the People's Republic of China (PRC), Taiwan/Chinese Taipei/Republic of China, both, neither? Basically, what are your nation's feelings and policies on the one/two Chinas? Explain below:

For example, Laeral officially states that Taiwan is independent of China, but there has been some heated debate about how that policy should be enacted. Some hold that Laeral should trade exclusively with the RoC, others say that it would be foolish to ignore a large trading partner like mainland China.

We support neither. All nations are heresies created by the Army of Kass to divide mankind, and all must be absorbed into the One True Empire.

The official government policy is neutral on the matter. However, President Early has stated that he is in favor of a referendum to be held in Taiwan for 'Taiwanese independence' and wants the 'two Chinas' to negotiate on this issue. If passed, this theoretical referendum would end both the Republic of China's claims on the mainland and the PRC's claims on Taiwan.

Hyggemata has it foreign policy to support the PRC due to its preponderance of force over the de facto island state; however, public romanticism prohibit this policy from being announced. The Taiwanese are either regarded as a freedom-loving, democratic people that deserve self-determination, or even as the last bastion of what once was the first democratic republic in Asia.

Populi-Terrae does not support the One China Policy and does not recognize the People's Republic of China as a legitimate government of China. Our support has and will always remain with the Taiwanese nation and people. We support either a Taiwanese unification with a future democratic China or a Taiwanese referendum for independence.

The Kingdom of Lian is our universe's equivalent to this "China" as an idea a nationstate and a geographic region.

The Republic of China is seen as the legitimate government of China, with their land occupied by peoples living in the past.

Why should we recognize two nonexistent self-declared administrations claiming to govern our territories again?

Taiwan still belongs to the Empire of Japan. So the ROC government is in exile in the U.S

We've fought the PRC twice in Laos and Vietnam to prevent the monarchy murdering communist from expanding further into South east Asia.

by TURTLESHROOM II
In the Chinese region you're referring to, TurtleShroom recognizes both Red China and the KMT as separate, sovereign, independent nations, but far prefers to do business with Taiwan. We have a natural aversion to any Marxist.

However, as to the rightful ruler of China, we support the surviving descendants of the Qing Dynasty, the Ming Dynasty, and the Yuan Dynasty as the rightful ruler of China. In that region, China's monarchy is the only true and rightful government.

That said, the largest Chinese region we are familiar with was the Chinese region that was starting to be conquered by the Greater Imperial Japanese Dystopia a thousand years ago, and finished a few centuries later. The GIJD ultimately collapsed in the early 2010s AD, leaving this Chinese reigon, as well as its Vietnamese, Korean, Mongolian, Tibetan, Burmese, and Siamese holdings in total disarray. We have not been able to make contact with the remnants of the GIJD or the hundreds of nations that broke off in its collapse.

Since the PRC are the better trade partner and as an artifact from Soviet times, the PRC is recognized as the only China.

We trade with both but support neither.

Should conflict flare up, our diplomatic might would support the highest bidder, since we have no ideological or other non-commercial entanglements in this issue.

De jure China, de facto both.

As in we recognise the PRC's claims officially, but unofficially we consider them both seperate nations, and have unofficial diplomatic relations with Taiwan, having an 'embassy' in Taipei and an embassy in Beijing.

The Arachaean government also recognises both Israel and Palestine, as well as recognising Kosovo and the Sahwari Arab Democratic Republic. It is the only UN member to recognise Nagorno-Karabach, causing a minor controversy.
