AusoZera Regional ApplicationI suppose I should begin by saying this nation does not represent my real life views. In any case; I decided I wanted to play a modern monarchy, which, due to political instability similar to the Australian Prime Minister saga of the last 10 years recently elected a nationalist third party in the predominantly bipartisan system. This nationalist party promises stability and order, and are on the surface very reverent to the King, but are simultaneously plotting to either reduce the Royal Family's power significantly and establish a pseudo fascist state, or want to replace the Royals with one of their own in a mass assassination. I'll take a few excerpts from my work in progress overview of my nation for a better run-down. I like to think of it as a mixture between Russia, Hungary, Austria, and England. As I tend to RP issues IC, you may notice some initial similarities to the automatic NS overview:
General Information

Although conservative, the nation tends to be somewhat left leaning in its economic policies, with limited progressive social policies. Many have criticised modern Anglomir for the creation a authoritarian, submissive, traditionalist political environment ripe for the seeds of fascism to take ahold, of which the government has made no official comment. As a result of the heavy prudent atmosphere, people who have good jobs and work quietly at them are lauded; others are viewed with suspicion. While it is governed as a constitutional monarchy republic, the country, led by Auel Clasik since 2000, has been described as authoritarian with Anglomir's human rights record being inadequate according to a number of independent observers and human rights groups along with the arrest and supression of political opposition. With just over 13 million inhabitants, Anglomir is a medium-sized member state of the Allied States of Regional Congress. The official language is Anglisch, which is almost exclusively endemic to the nation-state, historically being spoken in very few other areas of the globe. Anglomir's capital, largest city, and metropolis is Yurk, a significant economic hub, classified as a leading global city. Major urban areas include Mongland, Gradsgov, and Misolk."

Description of Nation's History: (See factbook for extended history) (Really want to integrate myself in regional canon, so happy to change history to suit) The ancestors of modern Anglomirians are the Angloslav tribes, whose original home is thought by some scholars to have been the wooded areas of the Yurk Marshes. There is debate about when Christianity was first introduced; it was no later than the 4th century, probably much earlier. According to the Anthology, Angloslav explorers discovered the religion upon meeting several groups of missionaries on local explorations. The returning clansmen, now converted, brought the religion to their fellow Anglos. After several centuries of tribal warfare, eventually the Grand Duchy of Yurk arose as the most powerful medieval state, named after Yurk, a prominent chieftain of the Northern Anglosklan. Yurk soon began his six year conquest of the surrounding tribes. Such an attempt had been tried before by previous Angloslav leaders or warriors, but the resulting federation was usually unstable or incomplete, falling apart within several years. In 1003CE, following his success, Yurk declared himself Angloskaiser (King of the Angloskrag), forming the first Unified Kingdom, which included the sizeable Kievvan-Misolk territory.The 1400s saw a marked societal change in Anglomir. For half a year in 1417, there was an antifeudal and anticlerical peasant revolt in Mongland, which resulted in the institution of monarchic democracy; the Age of Elected Kings, also known as the Age of Tsars.
The Age of Tsars came into being through a more meritocratic doctrine being implemented amongst the ruling class. The United Kingdom of Yurk reformed into the Tsardom of Greater Yurk, and set about implementing the new ruling system.
From a small noble family in Misvolk, Cobra Bogatyr grew to become one of the country's most powerful lords, thanks to his outstanding capabilities as a mercenary commander. He was elected governor of the fiefdom, then regent Tsar of Greater Yurk following successful military and social reformns. His election was the first time that a member of the nobility mounted to an Anglomirian royal throne without dynastic background. He was a successful military leader and an enlightened patron of the arts and learning. His library, the Bibliotheca Corviniana, was the region's greatest collection of historical chronicles, philosophic and scientific works in the 15th century. The serfs and common people considered him a just ruler because he protected them from excessive demands from and other abuses by the magnates. However, during his long reign, Cobra the Great gradually turned harsher, crushing rebellion and silencing enemies of the crown. He nearly doubled the already large Yurkian territory by annexing the three border principalities (parts of the disintegrated Mongland Kingdom). Thus, by the end of the 15th century Greater Yurk was transformed into a multiethnic, multidenominational and transcontinental state.
In 1450, the Renaissance period began, reintroducing artistic, educational and scholarly debate from classical antiquity. Anglomir began to develop naval skills, and exploration to the East intensified. Limited contact was made with the First Khesulan Empire, and several small fiefdoms. During this time period, the Tsar, despite conquering nearby territories to form a multiethnic state, became focused on racial heritage and Anglosav supremacy. Thus, he declared the new Tsardom of Anglomir, after the name of his ancestral Northern Angloslav tribe.
I've realised this 'abridged version' is long enough already so I'll sum it up super fast from here. Eventually, a civil war broke out between monarchists and parliamentarians. In the end, it was constitutionally established that Tsar and Parliament should rule together, with power balanced heavily in favour of the Tsar. However, this didn't last. In the early 1900s, a proletarian revolution stirred, and they overthrew the Tsar and established a communist regime. A man called Benjamin Stanislau began to corrupt the original marxist principles and basically pulled a Stalin. He ruled up until the late 30s, where the royals came out of hiding and overthrew the regime. The economy has been steadily growing since then, but maintains left leaning policies as a leftover from the commnunist era. Politically, the population has turned extremely conservative and spits on the face of communism and socially leftist 'feminazis'. From 1999 to 2005, Anglomir saw a highly unstable political climate, with eight Prime Ministers taking power in six years. The crisis concluded with the Conservative Party, who preached somewhat paradoxical leftist economic policy, taking ahold of the leadership and effectively placing the country under shutdown. Party Leader Auel Clasik ascended to the office of Prime Minister, promising the people a "New Era of stability, unity, and strength for Anglomir". The Anglomirian people, susceptible to the nationalistic promises due to their exasperation with their current political climate, overwhelmingly supported his inauguration. From 2006-2015, the Government imposed heavy restrictions on foreign travel and news from outside the country. The authority of the royal family has slowly been curtailed, and increasingly authoritarian laws have been imposed in the name of 'democratic stability'. Since Clasik's inauguration, there have been two General Elections, both of which were won with an overwhelming tide of support for the Conservatives; it is theorised that there may have been government intervention or vote-tampering in both elections.

Why do you want to join?: I am a passionate world builder and writer. I absolutely love to be creative, write fictional histories, and produce brilliant stories to boot. I've never really been a part of a proper role-play group - at least, one where I feel comfortable joining in. I really want to have fun and get creative with what seems like an amazingly detailed lore-filled RP community!
