Main religion in your nation? Christianity (mainly Protestantism)
The percentage of the population affiliated with the above religion? 35% Most people are either agnostic, Ietsist or still culturally identify with one of the several branches of the Christian faith.
How free is one to practice another type of religion? Very free. Apart from a full-stop ban on Islamic migration as well as certain other sects.
Is abortion legal and/or is it encouraged? Abortion is legal in the first trimester upon mandatory councilling. This does not apply to the victims of sexual assault, where the child is severely handicapped or other non-viable or when the mother's life is in danger. There is, however, a strong societal stigma and the current abortion rate is 2.1 per 1000 women in the 16-44 age range.
Are terrorist attacks about religion common? Not after Islam got banned from the country (as well as 99 percent of its adherents and as they weren't citizens from Free Tristania, this was not a difficult step to take. The religious terrorism problem disappeared overnight).
How much types of religion, excluding Atheism and Agnosticism, are there? The Commonwealth is religiously quite diverse but mainly when it comes to Christian groups, other groups include Christian Animism (a mixed religion among members of the "Bergvolk" and Polynesian Animism (found within the same circles) but also migrant religions like Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism, Shinto, Hinduism as well as several small Jewish communities (numbering around 18.000 in total).
Is Atheism common and/or supported by the government? Atheism is relatively common and the government takes no position when it comes to (ir)religion as the government considers it a private matter as long as it doesn't impede upon the safety of the public. Since Islam posed a direct risk to the country, it has been dealt with in an appropriate manner.

EPHYRA: Religion in the Undying Empire

Main religion in your nation?
The Pantheon of the Blood, worshipping the six main traditional blood gods of the Ephyral, is both the state religion and the largest by freeborn population.

The percentage of the population affiliated with the above religion?
34% of the freeborn population hold the Pantheon of the Blood as their religion. The majority of these are Ephyral, whom make up 41% of the freeborn population, but a few sub-Ephyral also follow the Pantheon.

How free is one to practice another type of religion?
Officially quite free. There are laws in place permitting the free worship of your own gods so long as you are making no attempts to convert anyone in the empire to your belief. Thus it is mainly private worship that is permitted, and it is prohibited to wear other religious symbols in a temple of the gods or another sacred site. With that in mind, Ephyra prohibits the worship of the Judeo-Islamic God, be He called Yahweh, Allah or Jehovah. All sects of Christianity, Judaism and Islam are recognised as demon-worshipping cults, for all three religions waged unprovoked wars of aggression against Ephyra for its pagan and 'heathenish' beliefs. The mass death caused by the invasions and the near destruction of the only recently rebuilt empire led to a permanent ingrained hatred of this supposed god in the minds of Ephyral, be they religious or not, a hatred that persists to this day.

Regulating this is difficult however, as Islam is the second largest faith in the empire. The term heresy is used to describe those adhering to demon-worshipping cults, though the term isn't always favoured because it implies an inquisition working to eradicate all non-Ephyral religion. The Ephyral do not despise non-Ephyral religion, but they do despise Abrahamic faith. No Mosques, Synagogues or Churches are permitted within the territorial grounds of the empire. Any man or woman who preaches for the demon Allah/Jehovah/Yahweh is promptly arrested and offered as a sacrifice to the blood gods.

Is abortion legal and/or is it encouraged?
Depends on circumstance. A freeborn citizen woman who was criminally raped can obtain an abortion for any pregnancy developed if she chooses to. However, freeborn women who become pregnant in any other circumstance of sex cannot acquire an abortion unless her own life is in peril from the birth. It is considered a crime to kill a child whose birth is sanctioned by the gods. It should be noted that by both cultural norm, religious decree, and Imperial law, a woman wedded can never be criminally raped by her husband, meaning that the act of rape is still possible but it won't be criminal. This rarely happens however due to the circumstances that lead two individuals to marry in the first place.

Many women are raised from girls to both value the life of children, and to want to bear them themselves. It would be difficult to find a freeborn citizen woman pregnant who would actually want to terminate her pregnancy.

Are terrorist attacks about religion common?
Yes. Mainly Islamic terrorism. Christian threats came in the form of armies, not subversive groups, and there has been little in the way of Ephyral-Christian conflict for the past few centuries, whereas Ephyral-Muslim conflict has never ceased. The most recent terror attack was in 2029, in the city of Volos where upwards of thirty people were killed in a market bombing followed by three assailants opening fire with semi-automatic firearms. All three assailants were shot dead, and arrests subsequently made. As anger from the populace builds, the Emperor and his High Council have sworn oaths by the gods that no rest shall be granted to those who fight without a uniform, who hide amongst the crowds, those who take the gift of honorary Imperial citizenship and use it as a weapon to kill Ephyral citizens. All terrorists will be hunted down, captured, interrogated by any means at their disposal, and publicly executed for their crimes.

How much types of religion, excluding Atheism and Agnosticism, are there?
The Pantheon of the Blood is the largest, followed by Islam. There are a substantial amount of Christian denominations in the north-west of the country but by total population not many, and they do not cause any large issues. For this reason, the empire is not as concerned about stifling Christian faith as the Christian peoples in the north-west are not focused on anti-Ephyral sentiment. There are virtually no Jews in the empire, as many living in what is now the Imperial Levant fled as the armies of the empire swept in. A few of the sub-Ephyral hold their old pagan faiths, and these faiths are tolerated entirely. Due to a border with the nation of Taralus, whose people worship the Old Gods of nature, religious influence of the Old Gods naturally crosses into Ephyra but as it is another pagan faith with no direct centralised structure and no call for holy war against Ephyra, it too is accepted. Many of the smaller pagan faiths dotted around Ephyra lack any names, and though not endorsed, adherents are free to worship as they please.

Is Atheism common and/or supported by the government?
Atheism is quite common. Ephyral atheism is the main brand of this. Ephyral atheism is essentially those Ephyral who reject the premise gods exist as a physical entity, but recognise them as the deified personifications of Ephyral values and beliefs, and representative of their culture. For this reason you will find that Ephyral atheists are in fact as committed to the defence of the religion of the empire as the adherents of the gods. Some members of government are Ephyral atheists, others worship the blood gods. They don't come into conflict on this matter, and though not outright supported by the government, it is Ephyra's policy that worshipping nothing is preferable to worshipping a demon that desires to destroy Ephyra.

The percentage of the population affiliated with the above religion? 30% is estimated to be affiliated with LemOrt.
How free is one to practice another type of religion? As long as it approved (Faithist) it can practiced.

How much types of religion, excluding Atheism and Agnosticism, are there? The largest is LemOrt, followed by Nortretsolk and several others. This does not include anti-faithist religions, while still illegal still exist and statistics on these are few and outdated.
Is Atheism common and/or supported by the government? Atheism is strongly supported by the government, so much Tekirlemmih is de facto state atheism.

Main religion in your nation? Kogyokist Christianity
The percentage of the population affiliated with the above religion? 54%
How free is one to practice another type of religion? People in Palmyrion are de jure free to have their own religion.
Is abortion legal and/or is it encouraged? Abortion is legal only in these circumstances:
  • Resulted from rape
  • Is life-threatening to the mother
  • Will result into the birth of a severely-deformed baby (this is not because of eugenics, but because of mercy for the child and the mother)
  • Hasn't exceeded the end of the 2nd trimester
Are terrorist attacks about religion common? In the past, yes. Most of them were Islamist terror attacks.
How much types of religion, excluding Atheism and Agnosticism, are there?
14.1% of Palmyrians follow other Christian denominations, the two largest being Roman Catholicism (7%) and Non-Denominational Christianity (3%). 30.9% of Palmyrians follow Marshism of all forms - the most common being Palmyrian Marshism (note: Palmyrian Marshism is considered by many to be closer to Progressive Non-Denominational Christianity than to Orthodox Marshism from the Grand Theocracy of Holy Marsh).
Is Atheism common and/or supported by the government? 0.75% of Palmyrians are atheists. The Palmyrian government is a secular one, and strives to keep the peace between the religious groups of Palmyrion - but don't misconstrue this as government supporting atheism. While the government has no beef against atheism, Palmyrian society in large has a slightly negative view on atheism.

Listed below is the percentages of Palmyrians according to religious belief:
  • Kogyokist Christianity: 54%
  • Marshism: 30.9% (you can lump this with the "Other Christian denominations" down there because for many, Marshism is closer to Progressive Non-Denominational Christianity than to Orthodox Marshism)
  • Other Christian denominations: 14.1%
  • Islam: 0.25%
  • Atheist/unaffiliated: 0.75%
