yes but if you're going to make a better leo2 you should at least start with the A5 or 2E turret

this is like making a Sepv3 using the original short M1 turret

Tank transmissions are a bit more complicated due to the way they are steered. There are a few different arrangements for this, but the ones that emulate the flexibility of a wheeled system tend to be more complicated and the ones that are cheaper and simpler are more limited than a wheeled system.

2A6M is the predominant Bundeswehr Leopard 2 IIRC.

It's better protected than K2 probably.

I wish to pitch something to you. It's still an idea in the alpha stage but hear it out.

Imagine a light vehicle with a 2 man crew, both of which are seated inside a sealed and armored cabin at the front. The thing is very small, basically a modern tankette. It's armored against shell splinters and bullets only with a tad more armor (like we are talking 12.7 proof, maybe, if that) around the crew cabin. The whole thing would weigh about 5 tons, maybe. It's armed with an unmanned turret thing that has a 40mm autocanon.

The idea is to have an ultra-light fire support vehicle that can go anywhere be it by swim, airdrop or even helicopter and perform a similar role to the old combo of a jeep with a recoilles rifle on the back. And look cool whilst doing that.

No it is not. That thing is half the weight and something like 10% of the firepower of what I described. It's basically a tiny armored box with a machine gun on top. What I want is a tiny armored box with a (comparatively) fuckoff big gun on top.

The difference between RMK30 and 40mm Bofors is very little.

They will both fail to kill old MBTs and kill new IFVs reliably.

Bofors is just heavier and has slightly shorter ammunition. RMK30 can be fired from a jeep and has a venturi on the ass.

Yeah the 20mm cannon with plenty of ammo's firepower is only 10% of what the giant heavy 40mm can do with a fraction of the ammo count...

Also smaller and lighter with perfectly adequate armour is bad am I right?

The difference is in the direct fire HE capability. A vehicle of this size is not going to be threatening armored vehicles much anyway. At least no better than you could do with a dismounted ATGM team.

Wiesel AWC is very poorly protected.

But it's not like Purp would be getting anything much better with his re-invention of CVR(T) Scimitar.

RMK30 fires just as capable HE ammo as 40mm Bofors.

The difference is extremely minor. You could use the airburst projectiles from Puma if you wanted to, providing IFV level firepower in a TKS package.

Wiesel AWC can actually kill AFVs too, since its a TOW carrier first.
