And then you realize that in the field conditions are allot different than a set picture taken to get the effect that wast wanted in this picture.

whoa

imagine that

There is a slight problem involving the horizon and the relative elevation of the viewer where if the viewer is significantly higher or lower they may see a weird floating rectangle of grass or a chunk of sky on the ground. Not to mention the possibility of seeing themselves if they get too close.

Sure, it's not perfect, it's gonna get dirty, get scratches, and you're not really invisible but it's a hell of a lot more practical than bolting a giant flatscreen television to the side of your vehicles.

It's actually the least practical, most stupid thing.

>fucking tanks

do you... do you see how... like how that is different?

Current camouflage methods work fine.

Also if you have the amount of time needlessly putting fucking mirrors on tanks, you have have your grunts and tankers have some fun and camo the fuck out of the their tanks.

tank camouflage is entirely based on how well you can make it look like a bush.

that way your enemy spends his entire time reenacting Monty Python's "how not to bee seen"

The tracked vehicle obviously has better off road mobility and far superior protection from enemy fire (given that the wheeled vehicle basically has no protection at all). The tracked carrier is also amphibious.

But it also weighs nearly 20 tonnes.

For that reason, they're not especially comparable because a unit looking for an off road-mobile, protected platform isn't really going to be looking at the 4x4 while a unit looking for a lighter, cheaper ATGM platform will not look at the tracked vehicle. A tank division will probably not be interested in the 4x4, while a helicopter-borne infantry division may find the tracked carrier too heavy.

More of a Special Forces thing than regular army?

My main question would be why not just stick the mortar in something like the M106.

How wide is it? The tracks are 8.6m long

If it's too wide, shoot the wall of the far side and drive up the nice new ramp you just built.

Why does that tank have slack tracks? I thought I had a Wehrmacht tanks boner.

Because slack tracks are the ultimate in tank technology. Truly a lost art.

It's always nice when they bow off the roadwheels at high speed , or impact the running boards under sudden breaking

Your mortars should already have something larger and more protected to carry them around. Probably something like a LAV or an M113.

There's nothing special about the implementation here, if your special forces already have quad-bikes or something of the sort they can just lash a mortar and a few packboards of ammo to it on their own.

Are the TC's periscopes right on the edge of the cupola? If so they're the only thing between a projectile and the TC's head.

They need armour in front of them.

Not sure which bit you mean, the commanders hatch is slightly raised so has armour around it, the loaders is near flush with the roof so doesn't need this and the driver has a hatch with a flip open view port.

That's every era in my timeline

I have already had some ideas for later versions with more MGs.

Yeah the raised part. How come it's raised slightly?
