FV5847 Shadow

The FV5847 Shadow is a four-wheel drive (4×4), off-road utility vehicle that has been in service with the Carlosian Army since 2015. It is by far the most numerous vehicle is service with the branch, with over 200,000 manufactured. It is based on the civilian Phaeton Shadow, produced by the Phaeton Motor Company, with several minor changes. Unarmoured and armoured variants of the vehicle exist, with many different configurations in service. This includes troop carriers, anti-tank vehicles, mobile anti-air systems and mine clearance systems. Almost all major formations of the Carlosian Army are equipped with this vehicle.

~240-260 mm w/ BR-482 against flat surfaces @~1000 m range.

What type of shell is that? Some magical spaced armour will probably make my tank raugh at it if it barely gets through in the first place

How much space in spaced armour is good, at least for this context? Right now I have a 20mm plate 40mm away from the turret.

How much armor is strictly necessary for tank2tank combat in generation 3? (let's say late 80's-early 90's)
LOS thickness seems to vary between 650-950mm but I can't find much on what can pen what. I know the RHA equivalent varies between compositions and all but is there any rule of thumb for what is considered "enough"?

Whatever the M1A1/2A4/T-80U/T-72BU had, i.e. special armor and/or heavy ERA like Kontakt. Enough to handily defeat L7 or U-5TS and withstand early L44 or 2A46.
