COVID 19 ARRIVES IN NEW GOLDMAN
MONDAY, 19 SEPTEMBER 2020

The first confirmed Covid 19 positive has been recorded earlier today at the Varyag Test Base, in the form of a 60 year old woman that was originally from Wuhan, China (the epicenter of the entire Pandemic). This officially marks the first ever Goldmanian case after months of holding out unscathed by the ongoing Covid Pandemic. The Emperor has officially declared national emergency as the Department of Health and Safety prepares to initiate lockdown of the entire nation. No local transmission is yet to be recorded, but the wide wearing of face masks is now ordered to be compulsory for every citizen as face mask distribution arises and social distancing initiated.

"It is truly shocking to record our first case after months of holding out" says DHS Director Shawn Xavier. "We are now prepping our materials and manpower to combat possible local transmission. We hope to have a successful effect on limiting the virus' spread."

The entire capital city was ordered to be locked down by Sunday this week, and community quarantine officially beginning later 6pm this evening to last until October 5. All international and domestic flights are ordered directly by the Imperial Palace to be totally stopped in risk of spreading the Virus. All school and work has officially been suspended today until October 5, which while was disheartening to the Department of Youth Education, would help to limit the spread of the Coronavirus to children. Plans however for online classes via Zoom and other online services are currently being planned by the DYE.

All transportations are to immediately stop temporarily by 12 AM later midnight as social distancing protocols are to be ordered by the National Transportation Council. The Royal Family meanwhile has been evacuated to the prepared "Royal Bubble" at Emperor Norton's luxury retreat in Appalachia.

For now, it seems that the "Formidable Fortress", the name given to our nation as we held on during the pandemic, has finally fallen.

Supreme Court Justice Surprises Liberals

March 21

Justice Daniel Keen appointed by the liberal president back in 2014, stunned liberals and observers as he sided with conservative justices to strike down ordinances banning outdoor dining and indoor church worship. This was the first time the justice sided with conservatives except on one case where there was a issue where whether a highway being built to help ease traffic through several cities and towns near a suburban area was constitutional.

Keen was appointed by President Wang, and was assumed to be a reliable liberal vote. But the recent vote poised many observers whether the recent cases mean this to be an anamoly or indicator that he's swaying center left.

Newly appointed Justice Anna Creal Burla wrote the majority opinion, saying "The government may serve a compelling reason to protect and safeguard people from COVID 19 but it must be in proportional that our basic freedoms are not overridden."

15,000 Students Protest across Cities

Mar 24

In a rally event, 15,000 students held a protest across the state to protest the lockdown. #Letthemplay wants the state to go open up and let people play and resume sports but local officials have still placed a ban in place.

"We are asking the Governor to please let people play sports. It's been over a year and we are extremely frustrated. The stringent lockdown keeps on going. And we implore the local officials of the county to please allow people to be able to play sports," says Ashley Wheaten, one of the protesters.

The restrictions on sports have lasted over a year since late February 19, 2020 when the lockdown began. Many people have voiced their frustration but with the COVID pandemic in no end in sight and no rescinding of orders from local officials, the parks and sports fields will continue to remain empty.

March 24- Carthatskans Everywhere Dissatisfied with Leadership

After Carthatskan leader Serge Maitre broke Carthatska's isolationist spell in a flurry of global moves, Carthatskans fear this opens us to foreign invasion.

Carthatska first involved itself in a civil war inside Sapim, which was risky and could have led to an invasion.

Carthatska has also sent almost 2.5 TRILLION out in foreign aid donations in the past 2 days, angering liberals and conservatives alike, as most of these aided the military development of previously unassociated nations.

Carthatskans are also riled up after Tropical Storm Perrie hit Carthatska, knocking out power and internet for 5 days. We will have to see if anything is done by the government to defuse the situation and give Serge another 4 years.

Suspect Caught Photographing

March 25

A 24 year old male adult was caught photographing women secretly in the University of Burberry of Reallcra. The male was a former student of a different University of Burberry campus and investigators are determining the exact reason why he was in this campus.

"The action taken by the suspect is disgusting, an extreme invasion of privacy and it doesn't matter what the motive was," said Chief Police Alecheet Summers, "We are looking at a very lengthy punishment of a possible prison sentence of two years, along with a one year ban from the campus."

Female victims rights advocates are calling for stronger protections such as mandatory minimum of a year in prison and the maximum to be longer, saying the law was too weak.

The photos were confiscated by the police when a female student followed the suspect across the campus and was able to trick the suspect into confessing.

Mutual Fund Manager Promoted SRI

Mar 31

David Antherall died Tuesday, 74 of cancer. He was married to Haley Auntherall Austa, who's now 83. David, a promoter of socially responsible investing, was a West Region investor from Kinooas, who graduated from Tinettus University, with a masters degree in business administration in Finance and Economics. His family was comfortably middle class.

At age 42 he created his own mutual fund company to help millionaires and well off white collar professionals, as well as some middle class individuals, couples, and families into selecting mutual funds. However Antherall was deeply dissatisfied with companies believing they were too greedy and reckless. He then believed that companies should be environmentally conscious and should cater to its community and human needs.

"My mutual funds include companies that support the environment. When people thought I was crazy, I ended running a index of only socially responsible companies. If you actually look at some of my other peers, my mutual indexes that we pick ended not doing worse but actually better by 1.6%. I'm amazed," David said in a interview in 2011. Analysts say that the reason for the better returns is that companies get better publicity and don't get penalized for violating regulations. David's work made socially responsible investing more acceptable.

Article from Falcon News

Opposition parties in crisis after the Confederal Elections

The huge win of the Progressive Joint List what won the absolute majority in the House of Peoples, and gaining the majority in the Council of Cantons, and the election of the Chancellor Paik causes the mess in the political scene. The cause te not respect of a constitutional convention, what expect that at the moment of presentation of candidacies the candidate will tell in what coalition intending to governing, where Kladivo proposed a left wing coalition (Socialist and Progressist, an eventual adhesion of Green Moderates) and the two parties give the support, and right-wing candidate Itou (with Liberal-Democrats, Union of Free peoples and Greens), Paik proposed a center coalition composed by Progressivists, Greens and Liberal-Democrats, but is not supported by the parties, but supported by the former Chancellor acticing at time Lautarii.

The huge and a bit predictable win of Paik, thanks the very good handle of the pandemic, vaccination and economic where he was vice-Confederal Governor), are expected that a huge constitutional majority composed by PJL, Greens, and ALDP, but the Greens and ALDP refused to join a government coalition trying a create a Joint opposition coalition in Parliament with socialists. This cause a mess, because some exponent of Liberal-Democrats and Greens opposed the decision of their parties because it was against the will of the elector, saying that the people elected Paik because wanted a government with the Progressives, and the Progressives actually proposed a formation of PJL-Green-ALDP government. This end a formation of the first mono-colour government of Alingan History where exists a parliament, there Paik appointed Okeke Gwozdek Yahg, and today received the vote of confidence by the House of Peoples, having also some votes from Greens and Liberals in opposition of decision of their party dirigences.

In the new government where are the first Intersex confederal minister in the Alingan Hisory, the Confederal Minister of Health Adriaansen Parn Garekk

This absurd situation where the new opposition are litigious, it surprises also the Progressives, and ironically at cantonal elections of the next year, are an huge advantage for the renewal of 1/4 of seats of Council of Canton, extending a their yet absolute majority.

The new Composition of House of Peoples:

Government: 387/750
Alingan Progressive Joint List: 387/750

Opposition: 361/750
Alingan Social-Democratic Workers' Party: 93/750
Alingan Green Moderates: 38/750
Alingan Liberal-Democratic Party: 187/750
Union of Free Peoples: 43/750

Indipendents: 2/750

Composition of Council of Cantons

Government: 46/88
Alingan Progressive Joint List: 46/88

Opposition: 42/88
Alingan Social-Democratic Workers' Party: 7/88
Alingan Liberal-Democratic Party: 26/88
Union of Free Peoples: 9/88

Trade Deal with St. Lucia reached agreement

The President, his honourable, Arno Tyranic, 2 days ago, announced a potential trade deal with the Caribbean island nation of Saint Lucia, and now the President and Saint Lucia's Prime Minister, the right honourable, Allen Chastanet, have finally come to an agreement to begin trade between both countries, Tyranic has publicly said that one reason that he wanted the deal to succeed is because of the growing fear of Chinese political expansionism into the Caribbean. Tyranic and Chastanet have also begun diplomatic relations between both countries, with both agreeing to build embassies in each countries' capitals. This has also been called "groundbreaking" by the Liberal and Conservative Parties

Warning Signs for NDP in State Elections

Postby Avinaa » Mon Apr 05, 2021 9:26 am

The National: Elections in three states saw the governing New Democratic Party (NDP) lose support and even get kicked out of government after 12 years in power. Parties both to the left and right of the NDP gained support. In the State of Rhineland, one of the most competitive states in the country, saw the NDP win 27% to the Conservatives' 37.6%. The leftwing Greens and Social Democrats secured 12% and 11% respectively and the centrist Liberal Party won 11%. Despite losing nearly 10% of the vote the NDP will stay in government after securing the backing of the Greens and Liberals giving the coalition a 78-76 majority in parliament. This will be the NDP's second term leading a government.

In Hanburg the Social Democratic Party (SDP) won a major victory winning their fourth consecutive term in the state the party was founded in in 1963. Winning 38.6% the SDP looks set to stay in government. The opposition Conservative Party secured 30.6% with the center-left NDP winning 11.8% (down 6%), the Greens securing 10%, and the Liberals winning 9%. If, has expected, the SDP forms a government with the NDP and the Greens they would have a majority of 61-40. Although they could supplement either the NDP or the Greens with the Liberals and still have a comfortable majority. Unexpectedly the NDP lost ground to nearly every party.

In Zabina, the NDP faced its worst defeat with the party failing to win a fourth term in office. The Conservatives have been given the mandate to form the next government after they won 43% to the NDP's 32%. The Liberals also had their best showing rising to be the state's third party at 10%. The leftwing Greens and SDP both won 9% and 6% respectively. State Conservative leader Theresa May, a moderate supported by federal leader George Reiss, looks set to be the state's first ever woman first minister and the first Conservative to lead the state in 16 years. With the Liberals ruling out serving in an NDP administration the Conservatives will likely have a 64-56 majority in the 120 seat state legislature.

Overall, the NDP looks to be in trouble as the nation is battered by the pandemic, the government continues to rack-up huge debts supporting the economy, and unemployment remains at 15%. The next federal election for president and parliament is set for spring of 2023.

The Voice of Reason- April 5th 2039

Our top story today: Mayoral elections are due to take place on April 7th, with Pulsroth's ten largest cities all up for grabs. The nationalist conservative ruling party, PM-21, currently control the mayoral seats in seven of these cities, although with a lower majority than previous elections.

Malin Ellsworth's liberal capitalist party, Democratika, are looking to gain the southwestern university city of Waverley, after increasing their vote share in the city by 11% in the previous national election of 2035. Meanwhile, the far-right nationalist Luga Pulsrotha party, led by Sir Winston Honokawai, are expected to form a coalition with PM-21 for overall control of Meridian's metropolitan region.

Nationalist Riots Get Violent
Image

St. Vincent, Omaha, UKOK: Scenes of violence in St. Vincent have been growing at an alarming rate, but why? City officials say the reason behind these riots is the growing nationalist movements, not to mention that they're rooted in St. Vincent.

Videos discovered by law enforcement on social media showed a bus speeding in downtown St. Vincent during the violent protests and lootings with its doors open. Eleven young men and woman, dressed in red and white, threw Molotov cocktails at police and non - supporters. Another video shows as the SWAT team disperse the protests with tear gas and killing the Molotov cocktail attackers with AR15's. At 5:00 PM the protests were finally broken apart and shattered by SWAT units with their sheer numbers.

At 5:25 the bus broke down in the middle of an escape through a high speed police chase, SWAT Teams finally caught up and raided the bus with the criminals intact.

The Voice of Reason- April 14th 2039

Our top story: Results for the recent mayoral elections have been fully revealed. Opposition party Democratika are celebrating after gaining the mayoral seat in Waverley. Their mayoral candidate in the city, Marie Hinchinbrook, won the position with 54.4% of the vote, in comparison to the incumbent PM-21 mayor, Mitchell Kiralangi with 43.8%.

Rather unexpectedly, Luga Pulsrotha did not win a coalition for control of Meridian, with the city remaining in the hands of the current PM-21 mayor, Alani Woolridge.

Luga Pulsrotha leader, Sir Winston Honokawai said today,

"I regret that we failed to truly appeal to the hearts of the Eleanore Islands' Mahêalani residents, especially with the emergence of Radical Impact in recent years. We know however that we still have significant support in rural areas of the islands, so we will continue to push for a better Pulsroth that takes care of its own in the next national elections in 2041! Thank you, no further questions!"

The Spotlight

"Your trusted source for all things Pulsroth, since 1995!"

Our top story today: The sixth named windstorm of the 2039 season, Storm Libby, has swept across parts of the Southwest today, leaving significant damage in its wake. The storm reached its peak during the late morning and early afternoon over the Eleanore Islands, before weakening gradually as it swept further north.

On Marlette Island, winds gusted at up to 115km/h, putting a quick end to the Spring Festival celebrations taking place in many towns across the island, from Kitmedden to Helmsbury. In Meridian, sustained winds of around 75km/h tore off part of the roof of the 600 year old Tarânaki Rá bathhouse, with Mayor Alani Woolridge suggesting that the damage will likely take the entire summer to repair.

On the northern side of the storm, Libby bought some significant snowfall across the Inner Plains, with nearly three inches recorded in parts of Meredith and Pembroke Prefectures this afternoon.

Social Democratic Party Leader ousted following by-election defeat

In light of last night’s by-election result, in which the Social Democrats came third place in the North Frederick constituency which they have held for over 100 years, Social Democratic Party MPs rapidly tabled a motion of confidence in their leader, Derek Bruce, which he lost by 19 votes to 11. This means that a leadership election will now take place, the first within the party to take place under new rules which allow the membership more involvement in the selection process. Mr Bruce, 43, has declared his intention not to run in the leadership election.

His leadership of the party has constantly been marred by difficulties. He first took over after the December 2019 General Election, which had been disastrous for the party which came third place for the first time since 1928. Therefore, upon taking over, he became the first leader of his party not to become Prime Minister or Leader of the Opposition since then. While he is generally seen as a centrist, during his leadership he tried to make peace with the party’s leftist faction, most of whom left earlier this year to form the Party of the Left. It remains to be seen whether a new leader will continue moving the party closer to the centre or will take the party in a left-wing direction, like in late 2019 when the leftists were briefly in charge of the party for over three months prior to the general election defeat. The front runner is the Deputy Leader, David Fisher, who started as a leftist but moved to the centre. Fisher, 29, is seen as being in favour of cooperation with the official opposition Moderate Party and possibly other opposition parties such as the Greens and even the Liberal Conservatives. Whether such cooperation is possible or not remains to be seen as the Social Democrats and Moderates, let alone the Greens and Liberal Conservatives, have fundamental differences. While previously being on the left of the party, as mentioned in the article, Mr Fisher takes a tough stance against leftist rebels within the party, much tougher than the peacemaker Mr Bruce.
