Space Studies Institute in Alliance with Space Defense Force Builds Asteroid Defense Systems

In order to protect the earth from a potential extinction event, the Space Studies Institute and the Space Defense have bulit three systems designed to deflect an incoming asteroid. The first is the dart mass driver designed originally to deliver packages of metal from the asteroid fields. This has been modified to throw a large metal dart at high speeds to deflect an asteroid off its course. The second system is the high powered helium 3 deuterium rocket engine laser which can knock small asteroids off course with its beam. These two systems will help protect us from future impacts making Nationstates a safe place to live.

Moon Space Telescope Built

A new space telescope has been built from materials mined exclusively from the moon. This telescope will look into deep space is being built for research purposes. It is the second major industrial project started to launch objects from the moon. Earlier, a resupply ship was built on the moon for deep space travel.

ACG saves group of migrants

A group of 86 migrants was saved off Astoria after their boat was reported to be in distress.

The Astorian Coast Guard said its rescue vessel was dispatched to a location where the wooden boat was reported to be in trouble.

The migrants, which comprised of 74 men, seven women and five children, were transferred to the ACG vessel and landed in Astoria earlier today.

The rescue comes just hours after dozens of migrants died between Italy and Tunisia after their boat capsized.

'Spider-Man Incident' At 2019 PBA Tagalog Cup

NEO-MANILA, NEW PHILIPPINES—A man dressed in a Spider-Man costume was brought to jail after disrupting Game 5 of the 2019 PBA Tagalog Cup finals at the Araneta Coliseum on Friday, May 10.

The man identified as Paolo Felizarta stormed the court holding a placard with "Vote! Love!" written on it with 3 minutes left in the final frame and accidentally hit San Miguel star center June Mar Fajardo on his right jaw. Fajardo fell down on the floor in pain as Felizarta was apprehended by security personnel at the venue.

"Gusto ko lang po mag-send ng message. Eleksyon po kasi," (I just want to send a message because it's the elections.) Felizarta curtly replied when asked by PBA commissioner Willie Marcial why he pulled off the stunt. "Gusto ko lang pong magmahalan tayo. Gusto ko lang magmahalan tayo, 'yun lang, wala ng iba po." (I just want all of us to give love. That's it. Nothing more.)

Felizarta also apologized for hitting Fajardo, claiming he had problems seeing through his mask. "Yung message ko nga po pagmamahal tapos mananakit po? Hindi ko po kayang gawin 'yun. Hindi ko po kita. Siya po 'yung bumangga sa akin," (My message is to love so I won't do anything to hurt other people. I didn't see him. Fajardo was the one who bumped to me.) he said.

There were two other men who were caught in the scene, namely Rayahn Paredes and Flenn John Lola. Lola was assumed to be Felizarta's accomplice while Paredes, who was sitting on the stands behind the basket, was caught punching Lola as he was ushered out of the court. Police said Lola and Paredes settled their dispute at a nearby barangay hall.

Marcial revealed they are taking legal action against Felizarta. "Pinapatanong ko sa legal namin kung anong klaseng kakasuhan, kakasuhan namin 'yung tao," (I asked our legal team what kind of case we're going to file against him. We will file a case against him.) Marcial said.

Despite the drama, action continued and Team Magnolia turned back Team San Miguel in an 88-86 win off a Mark Barroca game-winner.

Anti-Monarchy Dissidents Destroyed

Yesterday at around 1pm an illegal protest formed near the Royal Government buildings in Central Londra. Protestors were seen holding anti-monarchy signs and chanting vulgar phrases, including vile insults against our beloved Queen Emilla, whose first coronation anniversary will be celebrated next week on the 17th of May (be sure to mark it in your calenders!).

The Royal Guard quickly arrived on the scene and cut down the protesters. Those killed will have their remains hung above Tower Bridge as an example to any future would be dissidents. Surviving protesters were taken to the Grand Colosseum, the largest arena in all of Miilaria where they are expected to be put into combat sometime next week. The event will be televised along with messages warning citizens about the violent ideologies of those who seek to question the authority of the Queen, and encouraging those who see individuals expressing dissident views to report it to their local guard.

We'd like to remind all citizens that it is their duty to report any suspected dissidents to their local guard. Failure to report dissidents will be punished - feigned ignorance will not be forgiven. Inaction costs lives. Queen Emilla is righteous and her name must be revered.

THE UNITED NATION CONDEMNS ANTAGOREANS FOR NUCLEAR DAMAGE IN THE JUNGLE

On 7 March 2247, the United Worlds unjustly attacked the glorious National Republic of Antagoria. Their meager force of 300 million men could not destroy the powerful pure Antagorian race's spirit. In return to their unjustified aggression, we dropped a powerful nuclear bomb upon their unprepared armies.

At exactly 8:31:52, the long-range bomber "Utaya-7", which had seen action in the Battle of Celpius in 2024, dropped the bomb upon the enemy United Worlds soldiers. Although it killed all 300 million enemy soldiers, the great jungles were sacrificed in the blast. The UN, not knowing of our war with the extra-universal nation, proceeded to condemn all Amtagoreans for testing a nuclear bomb to destroy the jungles.

Our response was to dispell all UN inspectors who arrived to inspect the National Republic's weaponery given the recent tensions over increasing Antagorean rearmament where the democratic forces are completely upset with the Antagorian people's rearming.

Premire Vladimir Malenko was giving a speech to the People's Assembly when Vitaly Medvedev rushed the podium and aimed a pistol at the Premire's head. The would be assassin was tackled by the Premire's bodyguards and was beaten before being taken into custody.



Premire Malenko was not harmed in the attempt as his bodyguards reacted swiftly. The reason for the assassination attempt is unknown at this time.

Man mauled by stray cat in Nelson park

During his routine morning run through the West Nelson Park, local man Greg Sanders got the shock of his life as he was brutally assaulted by none other than a stray cat. Mr. Sanders was quickly spotted by other morning joggers and rushed to hospital, where he was treated for lacerations and received a rabies shot.

The cat, believed to be one of the approximately 100 feral furry felines which the park is home to, was not caught by City Council park workers, who conducted an extensive search of the park and surrounding area. Wesley Richardson, of the Nelson City Council, had this to say regarding the notorious issue with stray cats. "We've known about this issue for many years now, and have been tirelessly working with residents and the SPCA to make sure cats removed from the park are treated humanely and preferably rehomed"

Rachel Myers, stay-at-home busybody and head of the small animal-rights advocacy group Fighting Unnecessary Council Cat Killings, says the council and park workers should be taking a different approach. "The cats were here first! This is their homeland and we were the ones who put paths and parkbenches and stuff here, we need to respect them and remember that we're the ones encroaching on their land!"

Mr. Sanders is expected to make a full recovery.

Astorians are 'drunk' on hot cross buns

Once the video of a traffic officer taking a breathalyser test after eating hot cross buns hit social media , and the result of it registering a false reading, it wasn't long before Astorians started finding the humour.

A man in a traffic department uniform, identified only as Mr Williams, is seen blowing into a breath testing device in a video. His alcohol level is measured as zero.

He is then offered hot cross buns and after consuming just two bites of the spicy treats his breath is again tested. This time it registers an alcohol level of 0.21. In Astoria, a breath alcohol content of 0.24mg per 1 000ml, or a blood alcohol limit of 0.05g per 100ml means that you are legally drunk. Once the news hit Astorians, the memes quickly followed.

PASAF-SNA Anti-Terrorist Collaboration Greenlighted By Sampornese Jamahiriya

BUTUAN, SAMPORNA—At 6:13 PM, May 17; a bomb combusted right under one of the APCs of the Sampornese National Army in Butuan, killing an unconfirmed number of National Army soldiers, and trapping a squad for hours. This would be merely one of many attacks both beforehand and soon thereafter, by terrorist insurgencies operating within Samporna itself, against the newly-constituted Gaddafist State.

Of key importance to these warring factions within the nation in unrest, is the Lumad Liberation Front, the organization responsible for the aforementioned attacks, as well as many others. The LLF appear to be growing much more popular among the nation's delinquent in recent weeks, partly due to their successes in the Southern fronts of the nation. The LLF have officially stated the primary purpose of their acts to be that of 'freedom-fighting' and liberation for their indigenous minority, the Lumad people, however, many even within the nation's Lumad population themselves have alleged that the organization's methodology is not one that best represents 'proper' Lumad culture. The extremities and acts of terrorism committed by the LLF have already placed them on several anti-terrorist watch-lists, most notably, the Pan-Asiatic States'.

Claiming this pathos of events to be a precedent for much larger scale attacks against the Jamahiriya of Samporna, the Secretary-General reportedly congregated members of the Asian Military Command on the 17th to strategize whether or not the Pan-Asiatic States should involve themselves with the conflict any further and how. The following morning, the Federal Congress was assembled to ratify a proper course of action.

The congregations ultimately concluded that the Federation had to follow-through on their (albeit informal) allegiance to the Jamahiriya's sovereignity a month earlier. Both the State Soviet and Secretary-General have released public statements expressing a desire to enact a Defense-based alliance with the Jamahiriya. The agenda of the government on the 18th soon became clear, and all efforts to prepare the nation for an intervention against fringe elements of Samporna.

AGAINST the perpetuation of terrorism in the Sampornese Jamahiriya, after a thorough investigation into the reactionary adversaries held against the national sovereignty of the newborn revolutionary government, the Federated People's Republic of Pan-Asiatic States extends its hand towards joint military assistance between the Pan-Asiatic States Armed Forces and the Sampornese National Army. Surmounted by rising local insurgencies, as well as foreign pressure, the Pan-Asiatic States deems assistance necessary, and is willing to make several offers purely in the interest of Samporna's national security, agreements from one post-revolutionary nation to another.

In short, we hope to stabilize Samporna in order to ascertain a much more secure endeavor for future political self-sufficiency for Samporna, in the interests of transparency between Asia and his allies.

Speaking on behalf of an informal conference between the Sixth Administration's constituents, and coming from a context wherein the People's Congress of the Jamahiriya had already ratified an executive act to urge diplomatic talks regarding trans-national defense coordination (a treaty included with the communique regarding an application for ambassadorship), the Pan-Asiatic Ministry of Defense's consultants have agreed upon an intervention-based approach regarding local counter-insurgency. That is to say, we intend to put-down radical elements of the resistance in the best interests of peace.

However, we would like to secure an official greenlight sanction from the Jamahiriya, as well as the stance of the perpetuating administration on the issue before carying-out further notions of intervention.

As per suggested by the Ministry of Defense, the Pan-Asiatic States is willing to carry-out the following:

• The cession of five (5) expeditionary divisions to the Sampornese Jamahiriya, from both the ranks of the People's Intervention Unit (PIU) and Special Forces Unit (SFU) of the Pan-Asiatic States Armed Forces, operating under the strategic command of the Pan-Asiatic States Armed Forces, but under the approval of the Jamahiriya. These divisions will include the 21st Siamese Echelon "Bang Klang Haw" Mobile Artillery Division (PIU), 11th Okinawa Echelon "Suliko" Ranger Division (PIU), 42nd Pan-Asiatic Frontier Infantry Division (PIU), 5th Irregular Partisan Regiment (SFU), and 36th Jungle Combat Company "Undas" (SFU).
• The ratification of a ten-year mutual defense pact that binds an agreement of guaranteeing each party's sovereignty (i.e, automatically declaring a state of war with those on the opposing side of any conflict INITIATED against one or both nations). This agreement will not bind ex post facto.
• Included with the above defense pact, the construction of Samporna-Asiatic exclusive bases in the Chinese Confederation, Pan-Asiatic States; as well as the Sampornese People's Congress' ratification of an agreement that does vise versa in the near future, but with a set completion deadline.

While times ahead appear to be dark, with imperialist threats looming both of our countries, we, the People of the Pan-Asiatic States, hope to create a friendship with the Sampornese Jamahiriya that will act as a lantern in the shrouding uncertainty of the future.

Today, May 19th, the Sampornese government officially affirmed the AMC's proposal for intervention, meaning that the decision for Asian troops to intervene against the terrorist threat in Samporna has been greenlighted by the respective authorities of the targeted nation, and it has been officially reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that both the Sampornese National Army and Pan-Asiatic States Armed Forces have entered joint conferences regarding concrete military action.

The promised intervention units of the Asian army are set to arrive in Samporna roughly around 5:00 this afternoon. Press coverage of the intervention has already been sanctioned by the Pan-Asiatic States Armed Forces, and the PAFNA-OSM is obligated to release reports on the next actions of both militaries as soon as details are available.

According the polls, and the ideological positions for each party, APB politics experts have put together two possible majority governing and four possible minority coalitions. The first would be a center-center right coalition of the New Democrats and the Conservatives if these two major parties face off in the second round presidential election a possible "grand-coalition" might be made. The second majority coalition would be a New Democrat-Social Dem-Green coalition government. A less likely, but still possible outcome could be that one of the two largest parties could form a minority administration with support from the other parties in parliament on a case-by-case basis. Aviniaa has only had one minority government since 1992, the NDP minority government in office from 2007-2011, however the NDP was only four seats short of a majority.

Social Democrats, in Coalition with Other Left-Wing Parties, Win General Election

In a shock result on Thursday after the last leg of voting booths were closed, the results of the RNDM election were tallied and proved all the polling wrong. The ruling Socialist Party, as predicted, did suffer the loss of 155 seats, but still finished in a solid third place with 145 seats, which defied predictions that stated the Socialists would finish last. As expected, the far right Popular National Front made significant gains, winning 155 seats to become the largest Opposition Party in Parliament. But, completely averse to the polls, the Conservative Party lost 107 seats to win a minuscule number of 60 seats, despite polls predicting that they would be the largest party. The Trotskyists have won 10 seats, which signals a comeback for the party that once had 10 parliamentary seats in 2016 before losing all of them in the midterms. And in the biggest shocker of the night, the Social Democratic Party emerged as the big winners of the night, winning 220 seats to become the largest party in Parliament.

However, since no party won more than 300 out of the 600 seats, a coalition government is necessary to avoid a hung parliament. The New Left Bloc, consisting of the SDP, the Socialists, and the Trotskyists, has formed the ruling coalition.

Amelia Jortor of the SDP has been sworn in as PM and will take up her duties effective immediately. Tuor Amiran, her predecessor as PM and leader of the Socialist Party, has been appointed as Foreign Minister under the coalition cabinet.

Miilarians to be healthier, happy and stronger following new food regulations

The royal court has announced that food manufactured and processed in factories will be banned completely in Miilaria, effective from 30th June 2019. This is the latest in efforts to de-industrialize, increase the number of Miilarian jobs, and boost the health of our citizens.
Head of the Baker's guild, Alya Atasi praised the announcement. She made the following statement "This is wonderful news for bakers all over Miilaria, we'll no longer have to compete with low quality products that cause heart disease, cancer and other problems. Everyone will be healthier and happier thanks to this. We expect numbers of bakers to increase dramatically too, more bakeries will open, there will be good high quality food available for everyone." Butcher guild leader Simona Chops added "aye, same for us butchers. Ye don know what they puts in that factory meat. It ain't real meat I can tell ye that much. Good riddance to all that rubbish, so 'appy this is finally 'appening."

Dorne Times: State election results in Dorne, considered by many to be a national bellwether, have been punishing for the major parties. The New Democrats have surged topping above 20% for the first time in two decades with the CSU under performing in a state a year ago they expected to be competitive in. The SDP appears to have hemorrhaged votes to the NDP and the Greens. In the 200 seat state Legislature 101 seats are needed for a majority, currently an SDP minority government is in power with support from the NDP. This is the first election where no party secured at least 30% of the vote. Coalition negotiations are expected to be a long and difficult process additionally it is not yet clear which party leader Governor Parker will appoint as premier and invite to form a government.

Violence Breaks Out As Miirandian State Falls

This morning, 6th June, 2019 at around 10:30 am a large explosion destroyed the parliament building of the northern state of Miirandia, killing many of those inside and injuring others. This comes following increasing tensions and violence in the region as austerity has lead to terrible living conditions for the majority of the people, many rebel factions have emerged with very diverse ideologies. The location of the president, Aria Sole, who never appeared in parliament in person is unknown, but it Is believed that she has fled and is in hiding. She has not been heard from since the incident.

Giana Falchia, leader of the militant group Freedom for Pictaria has claimed responsibility for the incident in a video released on their website. She said the following:
"The people will not tolerate being oppressed, starved and powerless anymore. We need salvation by any means necessary. We love peace, but the status quo is not peaceful. Thousands of us are living in impoverished conditions, dying because we have no access to food or medicine, while the rich enjoy lives of luxury built from the suffering of those below them. If there was a peaceful way to improve things, we'd take it but there isn't. Until everyone is free from these dire conditions, violence is the only option we have."

Emilla, self proclaimed "Queen of Miilaria" commented on the situation, the following:
"This shows what happens when there isn't a strong leader in charge, like me. People descend into chaos. It's pitiful. Now as rightful Queen of the entire island of Amilla, I declare the right to seize control of the land, regardless of what those globalists say. IT IS RIGHTFULLY MINE!"

President of Miiland, Eira Vonne said:
"This is a sad display of what unchecked capitalism does to the common people. Each deserves the right to life, health, freedom from oppression, things which are incompatible with the exploitative ideology of capitalism. The people need self determination without the meddling of international corporations... and certainly not from tyrannical monarchs either."
