If by "atheist" you mean that you do not believe in gods or supernatural forces, people would certainly look at you weird - how would you explain magic, then? - but let it slide. If as an atheist you are concerned with living without being coerced into religious ideology; then congratulations you have a lot in common with most of our religious population who do not want to be coerced into the ideologies of other sects or religions. Your objections will be listened to and be judged by their merits on a case by case basis.

If as an atheist you are concerned with insisting that society must abandon all religions and become completely atheist; congratulations you are a hypocrite! You are acting just like any other religious/ideological missionary.
