Mattan 2020 Elections

Postby Matta » Mon Nov 21, 2016 3:46 pm

It's time again, Mattan Presidential Elections are coming up. There is a lot of tension, many subjects are being talked about, however at the front of it all is one extremely important topic. Terrorism and Piracy, how will the candidates combat these movements that seem to be on the rise. With Ivan being the one many seem to favor regarding what his policies are concerning terrorism and his military plans.

There have also been some shocking things revealed in the news. Both the Green Party and Worker's Union will not have candidates this year. Instead Green Party will be supporting the Libertarian party, while the Worker's Union will support the Democratic Socialists. Another shocking result is that the Independence party will also have no Candidate and will not being supporting any other party. We also have former Democratic Capitalist Michael West running as an independent after being upset about not being this years party nominee.

Now on to the candidates in this years race.

As were are covering the events in this year election, we decided to ask each candidate what they plan to do about the terrorism and piracy. Each one had a different plan. Here are their answers

I feel with a lot of the people in these groups, they just feel their voice isn't being heard. WMSG formed because they were upset with how they were being treated. As did ISU, CTF was formed in order to combat ISU. If we help them get their voice heard, and their reasonable demands met, many might leave. As for the Pirates, many seem to have come from poor families looking for money. If we can help them get legal jobs and make money to survive, many will leave. As for the one's that still stay in these groups, it will become much easier to combat, and we can even get help from the reformed to catch them.
- Monica Ardelean

I do agree with Mrs. President. We need to help the poor get jobs and provide for themselves. Which we can do through incentives for companies to hire them. However, concerning Terrorism and Piracy in general, compassion is no longer something they deserve. They have betrayed their country and their fellow man. I believe we must raise our military budget. As well as try to increase trade to counteract any problems that we might run into with raising our budget. I also believe we need to put our allies to use. Give France, The U.S., Portugal, Spain, The UK, and whoever else it concerns permission to sink any pirate ships they see in our waters. Even allow them to patrol our waters. We are still a growing country, we need help from the outside to survive. I would also make a pact with our allies to help bring Terrorism and Piracy to an end
- Michael West

I agree with my opponents, we need to help the poor, but not through a capitalist way. Businesses make a fortune, they can afford workers.I would propose creating government jobs for the poor. We have plenty of agencies and such that need jobs fill. I also agree with Mr. West that we must not show mercy to these terrorists and pirates. As well as we must raise the military budget. I would however keep trade the same. However, I believe it is not in the best interest of Matta to allow other countries to handle our affairs. We have an army of 200,000. We can handle these threats ourselves. If pirates are in their waters, they have every right to sink them. I will use my strategies and the strategies of some of our best in Matta to crush these traitors once and for all.
- Ivan Cowden

In all honesty, Michael West has the right idea. I agree on almost all his point. We need to help the poor in the way Mr. West suggests. However I agree with the current President, we need to show compassion to those willing to take it. For those that don't we show no mercy. Back to Mr. West points, I agree with raising our military budget and counteracting the effects with more trade. I also agree we do need to use our allies to our advantage, maybe not going as far as Mr. West suggest but, enough to stop the terrorism and piracy.
-Maria Dubois

Looking at current polls so far, it seems Ivan does have some advantages. Many seem to believe in him and his plans. It seems that many are starting to believe that isolationism and little mercy for our enemies is the best option for Matta. We will be back tomorrow to update you on all the current happenings.

After a week, we've decided to look back at the polls so far and see who is ahead

Monica Ardelean- 1,500,000
Michael West- 400,000
Ivan Cowden- 8,000,000
Maria Dubois- 3,000,000

After showing the results so far, we asked our candidates what their thoughts were so far

Well, Ivan is a very good Candidate, he has a bright future for Mattans. I can understand why many are voting for him. I may not agree on all his policies, but he does have sound reasoning. I hope I win, but if I don't I will gladly accept whoever takes my place.
- Monica Ardelean

It is upsetting, I am really hoping people will start to see that I am the right candidate for Presidency. I respect Ivan, but I do not agree on much with him. I believe he will drive this economy into the ground. He will also being wasting our allies if he doesn't do anything with them to fight terrorism. I know you all have your own views, but please, I am the right Candidate.
- Michael West

The race is not over yet. We have several months left. I will not let myself get cocky. I will continue as I have planned. I am going to continue to reveal all my plans. I also must say, that I respect all my opponents, and that I hope this election does not create division in our great country, we're all Mattans.
- Ivan Cowden

Well, I guess I will just have to try harder, get out and be more proactive. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go to a rally in Parsimonia.
- Maria Dubois
