Your Nation's Parliament Building

Where does your nation's legislature meet? Do they have an elaborate palace complex, or do they meet in some hovel? Please post a description or picture of your parliament building, and describe what sort of government organs are housed there.

This should be fun, at least for those of us who enjoy looking at buildings.

The People's Supreme Soviet Building. Home of the People's Supreme Soviet (duh), the national legislature of Reijekstan. This building is also home of several other government organs, including the Council of People's Commissars and the People's Economic Union.

The actual building is the Belorussian Parliament Building.

[Appalatchia]

The Appalachia Legislative Building is the home of both the 45-member Senate and the 252-member Assembly of Appalachia. It also houses offices for each member of parliament and smaller chambers for committee meetings and other hearings. The larger portion on the left houses the chamber and staff offices for the Assembly, and the portion on the right contains the chamber and offices for the Senate.

The building was completed in 1985, shortly after Appalachia's independence. However, as Appalachia's bureaucracy has developed the number of committees, as well as the number of staff associated with the workings of parliament, has grown significantly, and the building is quickly running out of usable space. There are also security concerns, considering a major public highway does run underneath the building. Expansion of the current building is not possible due to space, and there is little undeveloped land within the rest of the capital.

The building is essentially a replica of the old Capitol building, except located in Urbem Occidentalium, the capital of Carena. The original Capitol building still exists in Washington DC, serving as a public museum of the Carenian and former American governments.

Our Parliament meets in a coconut grove on Fish With No Name Boulevard. There's a picnic table set aside for the Cabinet but other Members have to bring their own lawn chairs or sit on the grass. The public is welcome to attend but they are expected to maintain a respectful silence. Order is kept by the Sergeant-at-Arms who is, of course, unarmed.

If it rains, they go across the street to Tim Hortons.

The Dommaltandian Congress was adopted in 1980 and is in St.Paul, Minnesota. Previously, the Congress was located in Vancouver.

The senate meets in a gigantic Donut building to debate bills, hold votes and throw/ spraywater balloons, pies, silly string, water guns, ect. at each other.

The National Assembly of New Birgland meets in the National Assembly Hall in the capital city of Libertopolis. The current structure was built from 1955 to 1956. The main legislature hall, located in the center of the building, holds 1000 Members of Parliament. The wings to the left and right hold the MPs' offices, as well as a few other offices. The building is superficially similar to China's Great Hall of the People.

The current legislature hall is seen as inadequate for a nation of over two billion people, so a new building, with a legislature hall capable of containing 10,000 Members of Parliament was approved. Construction started in 2015, and the building is expected to be completed in early 2017. The new National Assembly Hall is built almost completely out of high-strength glass, to symbolize the government's transparency. The legislature hall is circular, with a movable platform in the middle. The design has made many people refer to the new hall as the "Galactic Senate" due to its resemblance to the Galactic Senate from the Star Wars franchise. The offices contained in the old building will be moved to two buildings built near the new National Assembly Hall, and are connected by an underground tramway for quick access between buildings.

The Popular Assembly Building (then simply known as Parliament) was constructed in 1951 in Aspinal Hill, Garvey, St. Perpetua under the guidance of architect Theophilius Cailean (c. 1894-1981) in a Renaissance style. The building is cramped for its 500 members. St. Perpetua has a unicameral parliament, a holdover from the MacLeod regime.

After being partially damaged in the Civil War (2012-2015), the WPDRF government approved plans for a new building on the site of the original. The designers proposed a sail design, reflecting the maritime nature of the nation's history.

The Vistonian Congress meets in Eastminister Hall, one of several buildings on Commonwealth Campus, a large estate home to the federal government. Eastminister was the second building on Campus constructed, in 1595 (after the Chancellor's residence, Cassandria Hall, in 1594), following the war for independence and the first federal elections. Before Eastminister was built, the Delegates-elect met in either Cassandria Hall on campus or Ahlberg Palace, the residence of the royal family, off campus, for informal business.

Congress is a unicameral body with 440 Delegates, which as a parliament elects the Chancellor (Head of Government).

Gandoor's legislature, the Forum of the Democratic Republic of Gandoor meets in a building that officially has no name, but is usually referred to as the Forum as well.


The Forum of Gandoor is a unicameral legislature with 1000 seats.

The Nortan Parliament building is officially named the Castle of the Court of Lerdenstone. It is located on the southern side of the Calbend, in the Inner Wall. It is named after Lerdenstone, the small hill upon which the Castle is located. Originally, the castle was a residence of the Royal Family and was built originally in the 12th century to protect the city from the Normans. It became the location of the Royal Council for some time thereafter, however in the 14th century, the Court moved to the Castle of Hameford to escape the Black Plague. When the King moved back to Lendert, the Royal Council moved back to the Castle. The Royal Council, which included the Parliament, the Exchequer and Chancery as well as the Court of the King's Bench, took up the Castle as its premises whilst the Royal Family moved to the Palace of St. Michaelsgate.

The current building mostly dates from the 12th and 13th centuries, with later additions from the 16th and 19th centuries as the modern Government evolved into one similar to the Westminster system. The House of Commons sits in the Common Hall, a small, sparsely decorated chamber which dates from the 13th century and was originally the library of the Royal Council, which was moved to the present Library of Commons. The chamber still retains shelving on the walls of the hall which currently hold copies of most acts currently in force. The House of Lords meets in the Great Chapel, a larger, more decorative chamber officially named the Chapel of St Giles.

The rest of the building is used as offices of MPs, for a number of Government departments and for the five Castle-Courts which sit in the Great Court Hall and other smaller halls intermittently. It also contains three libraries, the Library of Commons, the Lords' Library and the Library of the Castle-Courts, along with a number of ceremonial rooms, two dining rooms, a kitchen, and some private rooms.

The Parliament House

The parliment of the People's Republic of Abdulistan meets in a building officialy named the Parliment House. It is located in central Abdulistan, not far from the Presidential Palace and is located within District 14, the government district of Zargabad, the capital of Abdulistan.

the parliament building is located in the centre of the capital Ici Roelandia (an artificial city built around the 1950's). The original building is over 60 years old but was modernized in the mid 90's and now looks like this:

Beginning at 5:00a.m., today, Nov. 9th Both Houses of The Federal Council have begun meeting at the new Capitol Building, The House of The Rising Sun. This is the first in the thousands of years history that the Seat of Government of Chadtonia has met in a non-historic building. Our parliament building is not a building,it's an abandoned underground tunnel complex serving as well as a Secret Military HQ,a missile Silo and Leader living quarters.It suits perfectly the separatist government of Yurantsk because it's unreachable to the enemy,and goes so deep that it functions as a bombing and nuclear fallout shelter.

The Imperial Senate Building is a marble C-shaped (or rather, [ - shaped) building with three large bronze domes, the centermost of which flies the Aldish flag. It is a 5-story building with its own kitchens, sleeping quarters, telephone exchange, generators, and even a metro station. The Imperial Garden between the two wings of the building includes a sizeable fountain in the center, along with a number of bronze statues and other memorials. The Garden is open to the public along with the foyer of the main building; the actual assembly chamber, meeting rooms, offices, and other areas are off-limits to the public.

Underneath the building is a sizeable underground shelter complex built to withstand sustained bombing or shelling, intended to allow certain vital components of the government to continue functioning if Aldin City comes under attack. It contains large stocks of non-perishable food, a number of meeting rooms, a radio broadcasting system, and other amenities (not all of which have been declassified).

While Astrolinium has no parliament per se, both the Advisory Council and the People's Assembly are accustomed to meet in the Royal Villa (La Vila Recale in Aelian), specifically in the peristyle during good weather.
