Members of ethnoreligious groups are subject to both the civil & criminal laws of their own faith, but only if they live on communally-owned land where such customary law prevails.
What is the biggest religion in YN (not including atheism)? Zurnanism, the state religion. It is animist in nature & followed by the majority indigenous population.
Is your populace religious? Very much so.
What is the state of religious freedom in YN? There is one religious commissariat that regulates Zurnanism + all religions that don't fall under the purview of a subcommissariat. The Subcommissariats governing minority religions are as follows:

• Ethnic Minorities regulates all ethnoreligious groups (who are viewed as ethnic groups in South Zimenma & not as religions);
• Islamic Subcommissariat regulates all self-identified non-ethnoreligious Muslims;
• Orthodox Subcommissariat regulates all self-identified non-ethnoreligious Christians;
• Karmic Subcommissariat regulates all self-identified non-ethnoreligious Hindus, Jains, Buddhists, & Sikhs.

Religious identity is self-identified & optional, but the Basic Law outlines what constitutes a religion vs. what constitutes an ethnoreligious group. A religious court will have jurisdiction only over a person who has identified themself to the Central Government as being of a particular religion, & only for civil law. Children are subject to the religious court of their father; if the father has not self-identified, the child is subject to a secular civil court. Ethnoreligious courts are separate with different ethnically-based rules, & have civil & criminal jurisdiction over any member of the group who lives on communally owned land.
