Should The King ever be unable to fulfill his duties, a Regent will be appointed. The regent is usually a member of the Royal Family, and is most often the Queen Mother (the King's Mother).

Should the Lord High Chacellor (the effective head of government) ever be unable to exercise his duties, the Earl Marshal (as the second-highest ranking member of the Royal Council) will exercise the duties of the Lord High Chancellor until the incumbent returns.

If the Chief Executor is temporarily incapacitated, the Second Executor assumes his/her duties. Should the Second Executor also be incapacitated, the Head of the National Council will become leader.

The Lieutenant Governor is always there to act as official governor in case of an emergency, until the former may return to duty. If the Lieutenant Governor is unable to lead, then it passes on to the majority-leader in the Senate, then to the Defense Minister.

If the Prime Minister is unable to lead, the Vice Prime Minister takes over. If both are unable to rule a vote is held in their party to determine a new leader.

Parliament vote for a new President should the current fall ill, die or assassinated. If there is a tie, there will be 2 vice presidents.

It largely depends on whether or not the sovereign has appointed a successor. If they have, their successor takes over rule of the nation as Prince/Princess Regent. If they haven't, the Imperial Council appoints one of its members as Lord/Lady Protector to rule the nation until such a time as the sovereign is able to return to their duties.

If the High King could not lead temporarily due to sickness or other circumstances, the Second King will be replacing him. There's 4 kings, two of them being the High King and Second King. If the Third King and Fourth King couldn't lead cause by some circumstances, the First Archduke will be in lead being the 'Alternative King'. Though, this circumstances is rare.

If they were not able to lead for some reason, or they are out of the country on official business, the deputy First Minister would step in for however long they are needed for.

If the HHLE is unable to lead, the President would become the main head. Should he become unable to lead, the Vice-President would become the lead. Should he be unable to lead, main power would go to the Prime Minister, then if unable to lead, Minister of Defence.

Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces
President of the Senate
Secretary of Production
Secretary of Defense
Secretary of Order
Secretary of Research
Secretary of Education
Secretary of Health
Secretary of Foreign Affairs
[i]Senator William Hammond, HCIL

In Oflandia, power is split up amongst many different sectors of government, so there is no one person who's inability to rule would be to catastrophic. However, if the Chairman of the party was unable to rule, power would temporarily be assume by the Premier, the usually ceremonial head of state. There would immediately be a election to find a new Chairman. The Premier is appointed by the Chairman, so if he was to die a new one would simply be appointed.

An Acting Prime Minister is appointed, who's almost always the Deputy Prime Minister. Usually the Deputy Prime Minister is either the deputy leader of the governing party, or the leader of the second largest party in a governing coalition. Currently the Deputy Prime Minister is Wilma Zeegers of the Country Alliance Party.

Order of Succession if the Emperor of the Nocts, currently Veckys Celreos First of His Name, is rendered unable or incapable of leadership:

1. Designated Heir-Prince to the Noctish Throne, if of age. If not, then the Empress-Consort. Failing even that, then either the Queen Mother or net available kin of the Emperor.
2. Hyperostrategon of the Armies
3. Archprocurator of the Lunar Ecclesiarchy
4. Commissar for the Security of State and the Imperial Throne
5. Chancellor/Kansleris
6. Speaker of the House/Rezhetorikos
7. Hyperostrategon of the Navies.

The Order of Succession continues past this point, but would be too tedious to list in full, going down the list of all possible political and military appointments in the Realm. Priority is given to selected officials and military high personnel rather than elected officials.

If the President and CEO is unable to fullfill the duties of the Office, the Vice-President takes over for the duration of the interregnum.

From there the line of sucession goes down to longest serving members among the Board of Directors.

The leadership of Equestria is invested in the Alicorn Sisterhood, a small group of alicorn ponies, each a Princess of Equestria. The Sisterhood has a strict order of seniority, with Princess Celestia, the oldest, being the ruler of the nation.

Should Princess Celestia be incapacitated or otherwise unable to rule, the leadership would pass to the second in line, her younger sister Princess Luna. Should both sisters be unavailable, the leadership passes to Princess Celestia's niece Princess Cadance. Should she also be unavailable, it passes to Princess Celestia's protege and Princess Cadance's sister-in-law, Princess Twilight Sparkle. Finally, if no other Princess is available, the leadership would nominally pass to Princess Cadance's daughter, Princess Flurry Heart. Because Princess Flurry Heart is still a minor, though, Princess Cadance's husband (and Princess Twilight Sparkle's brother) Prince Consort Shining Armor would serve as regent.

This depends on the circumstances

If it's purely temporary and because the reigning Emperor is otherwise occupied (being abroad does not count except in exceptional situations), things are done either via ministerial fiat or supermajority vote among them.
If it's permanent, it would be treated the same as if they had died, the throne passes to the heir whoever that may be. This has actually happened, leading to the current situation.
If the current Emperor is too young to rule (as they are currently) then the presently appointed Ministers select a Regent to wield almost-absolute statutory powers until the Emperor is of age. The last two regents were selected from foreign realms to minimise the chances of corruption or a local conflict of interest.

In the event that the President of the Transhuman Union is unable to lead, a council will be met from the Big 5 autonomous nation's presidents: China, Russia, USA, France and the UK. One of their presidents will be appointed regent by popular vote, and possibly new president if the old president resigns from power.

In such circumstances, the Grand Duke's heir would take temporal rule over the nation in their stead, retaining just about all their powers; In other cases that the Grand Duke doesn't have a mature heir to temporally rule the Grand Duchy of Soleanna. A Viceroy is appointed by the Grand Duke themselves or the Court of Peers, who retains half the powers an heir would have.
