Party politics were abolished in Ashyaria in 2013. It was decided that parties were disruptive to the proper functioning of democracy and that by allowing each Member of Parliament to sit by themselves in Parliament, they would be better enabled to represent the interests of their constituents.

Similar situations exist in the Provincial Parliaments.

Twenty has no legal political parties, and organizing or joining a political party is considered treason.

The primary clandestine political parties operating in Twenty are:
Communist Party of New Freedomstan (#20ite Branch): Former ruling party, was purged by the military four years ago. The party is estimated to have no more than a few hundred members, but is considered to be the greatest threat towards security due to those members being believed to hold high positions, and potential sympathizers numbering in the thousands. Official ideology is Nefreedian Socialism and Marxism-Leninism.

The Worker's Party: Longest surviving clandestine political party, the Worker's Party officially adheres to Socialism and Marxism. Membership is estimated to at most be in the high hundreds, potentially up to a thousand, but is considered less of a threat due to membership being estimated to largely be civilian.

Democratic League: A relatively recent formation, estimated to only exist in Collective #3. Ideology is nebulous, but includes the formation of formal state institutions, framing of a constitution and guaranteeing basic civil and political rights, as well as less restrictions based on clone batch. Membership estimated to be in the low hundreds. Considered more of a threat than the Worker's Party due to suspected sympathies from the Scientific and Diplomatic castes.

Brief Explanation of Ifaltannia's Political System:

Ifaltannia is made up of 14 provinces, each of these provinces contains 12 counties. For every county where a party is a majority, the party gains a seat in the Parliament. This means there are 168 seats in Parliament. The party with the most seats has won the election and their leader is sworn in as Prime Minister by the Monarch. Votes are counted using the Alternate Voting method. A voter is given a list of parties and their first choice is marked '1', if that party cannot make a majority the 2nd party is given the voter's vote. The voter may number as many parties as they like, or just one.

Background: The Worker's Party was founded in mid 2017 as a spiritual successor to the the Socialist Revolutionary Party that was disbanded after the failed revolution during the age of unrest. The Worker's party is untrusted by most Ifalts, even those the party attempts to gain votes from. Many of their members are defectors from the Liberal-Socialist Party. They promote a strong Anti-Monarchist message and call for a socialist structured economy. Most of their support comes from the counties in Murtef and Alleon.

Background: The Liberal-Socialist Party was founded in 1921. Originally founded to promote social progressive ideals, the party now focuses more on class divides and increasing the autonomy of the provinces, while keeping the monarchy. The LSP (FSC) started to gain support throughout the 80's and early 90's but in recent days, the support has been slowly decreasing in favour of more centrist parties. The party also suffered severely when members split off to join the now disbanded Socialist Revolutionary Party. Most of their support comes from Aros, Aldrin and Shacs.

Background: The Ifalt Republic Party was founded in 1994 with the belief that Ifaltannia's Monarchy should be disbanded. They despise the government having to rely on the Royals for bills and laws to be passed and have pledged that if elected they will have the monarchy disbanded and exiled. Popularity for the party reached a peak during 2017 and in the Age of Unrest attempted a coup, hoping that the recent failed coup by the Socialists would leave the Government in shambles. Despite the failed revolt, the party still holds on to the last few seats it owns, however in recent months support has plummeted and many expect the IRP (IPC) to not gain a seat next election.

Ideology: Undoran Restorationists

Background: Undora's Protectors was founded in 1804, after the government dismissed a bill that would of seen the Province of Undora restored (Making 15 Provinces). The dissolution of the Undora province is one of Ifaltannia's most divisive controversies. Under the Geralt Imperial Kingdom, the province was split between Murtef and Arkro due to an administrive dispute. A civil war after saw the province completely erased (See the History of Ifaltannia Factbook). The UP (UM) call for Undora to be restored as a province. Most of their support comes from the ex-Undoran counties in Murtef and Arkro.

Background: The Centrist Inclusive Party was founded in 1893 as a reformed version of the Central Political Group. The party, like its predecessor promotes the Constitutional Monarchy and some members call for a decrease in Parliament's role in government in favour of a more direct Monarch rule. The party wasn't very prominent until the 70's when it started campaigning for the government to build new suburbs in Berkas to solve the housing crisis at the time. Most of the CIP's (MUC's) support comes from Bearn's east counties and Entham.

Background: The Traditionalist Party is the oldest party still running in Ifaltannia. Founded in 1802, The first Prime Minister after the Quenadian occupation was from the TP (SC). The party strongly advocates that the Crown is essential to government. They have strong views regarding immigration and argue it must be tightly controlled but believe those who are allowed into the country should be given citizenship, provided they learn Ifalt. The party consistently gains a large number of seats in elections, however the rise of new parties has seen their dominance challenged. Most of their support comes from Bearn's west counties, Sentana and Breens.

Background: Founded in 2014, soon after the collapse of the Ifalt Empire, the united Patriots are nationalists who's main concerns are the state of the military and immigration. They see the 2012 military cuts as traitorous to Ifaltannia and campaign regularly for the reversal of the cuts. They are content with the current state of immigration laws but argue that the nation is overpopulated and could do with suspending immigration for a 5 year period. The party got off to a rocky start upon formation but in recent years their popularity has been increasing. The do not have a specific region where most of their support comes from. However they are popular with the military and the youth voters.

• Smaller/single-issue parties - Concerned Families Party (2001-date), Fluoride-Free Tinhampton (1994-date), Reparations Party (most controversially; never won a seat; 1989-1997), International Focus Party (IntFed; 1963-2015), Tinhampton Union of Sovereignty (NatSov; 1965-date; still exists but only garners about a hundred votes or so every year, despite claiming a seat in 2013), etc.
  In addition, there have been several defunct parties. To name two of the more notable: The Christian Democratic Party (led by Celia Bauer) attempted to present itself as a hybrid of T1P's religious focus and UCP's mild conservatism, and did see success in the late 80s and early 90s (to the extent where Bauer was even awarded the job of Minister for Business Standards back in '92), but the party jumped ship to the main UCP in 1994.
  Meanwhile, KUMBAYA! was a more harmony-focused party whose ultimate aim was to integrate Tinhampton with the (old) United Nations to enjoy "global harmonised standards", but was exposed after then-Education Secretary Lydia Anderson ordered an investigation into the party's infiltration of schools in May 2002 (which led to St. Margaret's Catholic School, Anderson's alma mater, to declare independence from Tinhampton for two weeks in protest); the party was forcibly dissolved in October, but not proscribed.

Democratic Christian Union - Unjoni Kristjana Demokratika
The UKD is a religiously conservative socialist party. Their economic policies match that of European left wing parties, however, it is socially conservative, with heavy influence from the Orthodox Church.

Party for the European Development of Yakutikov - Parti għall-Iżvilupp Ewropew ta 'Yakutikov
The PIEY is economically identical to the UKD, however, socially, it is more liberal, and completely secular.

Liberal Party - Partit Liberali
The Liberal Party, ironically, is a far right religiously conservative party. It has no official economic policy, but tends to vote in favor of more right-wing policies. It is very close to the UKD in regards to social policy, however, they differ on the subject of LGBT rights. Unlike the UKD, the Liberal Party wants to outlaw homosexuality, and ban SS-Marriage.

Democracy Alliance - Alleanza Demokratika
The democracy alliance is a centrist amalgamation of several smaller parties from all sides of the political spectrum. It's main platform is anti-corruption and free market liberalism.

Unite/United Yakutikov - għaqqad/magħqudin Yakutikov
Unite! and Unite Yakutikov, while two separate political parties, field all candidates jointly. Officially, it's to promote national cooperation and harmonization, however, it is more likely that it is to get around the campaign spending laws. Both parties are Ultra nationalist. Unlike most ultra nationalists, they are not racially motivated, since Yakutikov would not exists if it were not a mix of several different poeples. They are motivated by the hatred of both the Russian CSTO alliance and the EU and NATO. The are fierce isolationists.

Fatherland - patria
Patria is a neo fascist party that advocates for and integration of Church and State, wanting to put the Patriarch of the Yakut Church, above the President.

Communist Party - Partit Komunista
Doesn't really need an explanation. Hasn't changed since the fall of the USSR, refuses to recognize the legitimacy of the Russian government, insisting that the USSR is still the rightful occupier of Russian lands.

United Europa Party - Parti Uniti Europa
PUE/UEP is a party whose sole platform is for Yakutikov to join the EU. The party split from the ruling UKD, due to their promotion of the state church. Their manifesto looks like it was written by Guy Verhofstadt. They want to transform Yakutikov into a liberal European nation, like Luxembourg.

Reunification NOW! - Ir-riunifikazzjoni, ISSA!
The ISSA is an anti independence movement started by the few Ukrainians that opposed independence from Ukraine but did not flee back to Ukraine. They have very little support nationally, and constitutionally, their existence is illegal, since the constitution stipulates that it is a criminal offence to enter into politics or the public sphere on an anti-independence and pro-Ukrainian platform. Nonetheless, they have and the government have, in the name of political freedoms, ignored their existence. They only get support from the eastern border regions with Ukraine. Their only policy, is reunification with Ukraine.
