You would be surprised at just how many people born post 2000 don't. And not just laymen. Like people in my bloody profession. I tell them that I used to use floppies to carry data and they are like "what are floppies" so I explain it and they just stare at me as if I was some sort of antediluvian.

It's almost as bad as when I tell them there used to be a time when nobody had mobile phones.

no it's people who grew up in the decade either side of the millennium

which is usually the decade post-birth decade

which means 1981-1995 or so i guess

And in their hands are great big rifles spewing fire and death.

Except the artillery never stops it just moves past you and there is no lull as the power armoured troops are literally in the frag radius of the artillery as it moves over your position.

It all depends on if you are going for "dramatic glorious charge" or "war is hell".

So I agree with you but my way was more suited thematically for invoking the glory of it even though it would be stupider IRL.

Because unlike shitty boring storage devices that were used for a few decades and have their own small fully written out place in history, swords have actual interesting and valuable history that ties in with the history of warfare :V

Well it's probable powerarmor troops used some kind of rudamentery gun director and such for their guns given the Minigun, GMG and other have no real ability to utilize sights properly.

I imagine they had a gun director forward of the gun and another reticle to aim with that provided fire direction to the troop
Disregarding FO4 mostly because it's selectively canonical because of how shit it is.

But assuming otherwise make like some star-crossed combination of the Colt IAR and any 40s/50s/60s IAR or GPMG.

This raises a fun questions though, do you use the additional mass a power assisted trooper can carry to give him more ammunition, or do you let him cary a heavier weapon and ammunition to take advantage of the higher supressive ability?

I suppose as heavy infantry they must be able to fight other heavy infantry so maybe have them carry more explosives individually.

Still calling them self propelled Infantry and there is nothing you can do to stop me rip.

Mobile Infantry > all
But why not both have some with moar dakka and others with heavier weapons?
If you have exoskeleton-equipped troops, it's only reasonable to imagine your enemy does, too. Therefore, I propose a setup like this: In regular units, have one platoon in every company a heavy weapons platoon, with the ordnance to attack better-protected targets, be them exoskeletons or tracked armor.

Though this raises a different question; what sort of armor could you reasonably strap to a Raytheon XOS that doesn't need to be hooked up to a power plant 24/7? If it's armor that's not much better than what we're using nowadays, then you don't really need weapons better than what we have. It you could have something much fuller, like Fallout power armor, than that might require HMG ammo as standard and force a heavy weapons platoon to carry 20mm+ weapons.

I still prefer my story setting: In the Mad Max universe, Europe is no better than Australia, except instead of driving around in Ford Falcons, Europe has regressed to feudal society, where knights are tank commanders, assisted by their men-at-arms who help operate the aging Cold War-era beasts, and the common rabble has to find ways to face Pattons and T-72s with homemade guns and prison shanks. Every once in a while, the Armor Pope declares a Great Crusade against the forces of Chaos, and Prokhorovka-scale armored engagements claim untold numbers of lives.

Gallan Systems wrote:alexander the gr88

I'm better than Ford because I prefer spears and pikes over itty bitty swords, but I'd believe it if they uncovered an 88mm gun from the battlefield of Gaugamela which explained how Alexander won each and every battle. Blessed by Ares Manslayer.

There doesnt need to be one, no specially modified version of the ZB53 was needed for tank use besides mounting of a pistol grip/solenoid firing link, so just imagine the M21-26IL version minus butt and designated "m/21-26T"
