VATS is silly

Well it's probable powerarmor troops used some kind of rudamentery gun director and such for their guns given the Minigun, GMG and other have no real ability to utilize sights properly.

I imagine they had a gun director forward of the gun and another reticle to aim with that provided fire direction to the troop
Disregarding FO4 mostly because it's selectively canonical because of how shit it is.

But assuming otherwise make like some star-crossed combination of the Colt IAR and any 40s/50s/60s IAR or GPMG.

This raises a fun questions though, do you use the additional mass a power assisted trooper can carry to give him more ammunition, or do you let him cary a heavier weapon and ammunition to take advantage of the higher supressive ability?

I suppose as heavy infantry they must be able to fight other heavy infantry so maybe have them carry more explosives individually.

Still calling them self propelled Infantry and there is nothing you can do to stop me rip.

I hold that all infantry carried inside vehicles are cavalry. Be that dragoons or voltigeurs or something else.

new topic: unified procurement for all military branches or bespoke? both? the us military sort of coincidentally agreed on stuff like BDUs and PASGT back in the day, but it doesnt now, though it seems uniforms and small arms could at least be administered on a defense-wide basis and mb save money, at least vs letting the army and the navy and the air force all buy different stuff, which could be used for Olds' pensions instead~

To achieve this, i was thinking of giving them sort sort of IAR-ified GPMG (yay Beta-C mags) with maybe sort sort of underbarrel rocket launcher or some sort shoulder mounted rocket.

Another idea was, since they operate in "squads" of six, give three the IAR/GPMG thing and then give the other three some sort of automatic rocket launcher because god bless the enclave

Why not just give them grenade rifles all round? Like give them an XM-29 equivalent as a standard issue rifle. Maybe even a OICV with 25mm grenades and a beta-C mag for the rifle bit! The chief problem with OICV concepts is that they are usually too heavy for a soldier to use. Someone with power armor does not need to worry about that. And the combination of a rifle for anti infantry work and a grenade launcher for anti power armor/entrenchment work would be cool. You can than have bigger and badder grenade weapons like those Chinese things as their SAW/LMG equivalents. And than finally have each section have a single guy with a big ATGM like Javelin.

Actually I basically imagine a world where jamming becomes so omnipresent that wireless communications just go out the window. So no remote guided weapons, no hacking, no remote control, no nothing. Instead war grinds down to the pace of the jeep borne runner and telephone cable and you have power armored infantry advancing on enemy trenches each dawn.

OOC: It's artistic freedom for the sake of creating a certain kind of image. It's just such a cool thematic element.

IC: There is such a thing as signal saturation.* As in, any given bandwidth can only carry so much in terms of waves before it gets saturation to useless levels. And for any given application only certain relatively narrow frequency bands will do. This is an actual problem IRL with mobile phones where the rise in demand is going to serious over saturate urban areas in the foreseeable future. In this case all the jamming, counter-jamming, trying to signal louder and all that just over saturate the waves to the point where no communications are possible near to the front lines. So as you approach the front you enter a fog of war.
