I could probably allow 20/40 as a passing grade since the bulk of guys going through basic training are going to be rear area people like supply clerks and truck drivers. Galla's basic training is supposed to be something of a sausage machine that produces lots of minimally competent troops who are basically fit enough to pass their real training when they go to whatever job school, anyway.

I'm not sure how practical it would be to introduce ballistic theory and require much stricter shooting requirements for Mechanized Infantry, though. Either stricter shooting, or shooting using optical devices instead of iron sights, perhaps.

US qualifies on optics now. If you don't trust recruits with combat optics they can be held at the range for shoots.

It's not that, it's just that they'd never be issued combat optics to begin with, so there's not really a reason to teach it to them? Only combat infantry are issued the optics. Rear area troops get iron sights and "stuff you remember from basic training" to protect them from attack. If anyone is going to break optics anyway, it'd be mechanized and airborne infantry. Rear area troops would keep them in a padded case in a padlocked locker in an armory.

Galla never really had an Iraq or even a Vietnam to teach it that rear area troops probably need more than hazy memories from years ago and a carbine to keep themselves safe. Its last major war would be Morieux where it basically learned that rear area troops are well protected against attack by partisans with their standard automatic carbines (.30 M2s) and pistols.

Karaman would have the potential to teach it that rear area troops require substantial protection or at least something better than a flak jacket and a rifle when facing partisans with machine guns and RPGs, but I don't think Galla ever fought partisans (or fought anything) in Karaman with anything less than Ranger-quality paratroopers. Alanko would probably just reinforce the lessons of the Morivaine War because Skyenetsyetsy Tsundere would roll over it with tanks and mechanized infantry because he's basically a Russian.

e: OK you convinced me. Everyone has at least Tascorama Reflex Sight. Combat troops probably have Colt 3x20s with ACOG-style reticle.

It goes through your nose. Did you not learn this at basic training?

You link an oral airway.

Not the nasopharyngeal airway.

You're thinking of a Nasopharyngeal airway.

It is around a 2--more a nuisance than anything. It makes me somewhat concerned when I do squats, that's about it

Sounds like a tendon issue.
Compression and stretches are your best bet. Glucosamine and chondroitin should be part of your dietary supplement intake. Reduce your current working weight by 25% and increase rep count slightly for a few weeks, if you're doing high impact (uphill run) cardio, reduce this for a few days or weeks and see if it improves.

Consult your physician if any further concerns arise.

My little paramedic <3

OPAs are for trauma that is not facial and in patients who are not conscious.
NPAs are for everything else in which a compromised airway is necessary
Traches are performed by Paramedics and some AEMTs IRL (US) to bypass the upper airway and requires special training

If he's unconscious, the OPA is fine. It keeps him from choking on his tongue.

Is only the NPA taught in basic training?

puz my left knee is garbage sometimes there's a very noticeable and uncomfortable ache throughout the day and sometimes if I run up stairs it will give a bit and there will be a sudden pain in it. No change in the dull ache regardless of movement. Do I need a new robit leg.

Sometimes they still have a gag reflex
Some forms of shock caused by blast, GSW or other trauma common in military settings can render a person to a GCS of 5-6 where a gag reflex might still be present even if the person is for all intents and purposes not A&O.

if you encounter that he is choking on his tongue, simply perform a head-tilt chin-lift, or a manual jaw thrust if you suspect a spine injury.

The NPA was the only thing we were thought. We also learned the head-tilt chin lift and manual jaw thrust.

If he has any kind of swelling that obstructs his airway nothing the standard soldier is trained to do is going to help besides scream really loudly for a medic.

OIC.

So an NPA requires less training overall. OK.

The glory of the IFAK and its contents is that it requires the bare minimum of training and covers all the major things very well.

Yeah

SOME BOOKS (AAOS I'm looking at you) teach you can't use a NPA on a facial/head trauma victim because it can enter the brain and cause a Pneumocephalus. This is only known to have happened twice, once in Israel and once in Iraq, both as the result of IEDs.
I don't consider any of these valid but oh_well.

NPAs are also p easy to insert.
