The only real way to make up for the severe lack of movement and severe vulnerability of your hand is to have them as part of an armoured gauntlet. That would fix the issue of it not being too secure, while also giving your hand the protection is desperately needs.

Also make them fixed, non-jagged blades. Retracting blades that have dumb notches and swoops are just no

What would it take for a rifle design to have a fatal flaw that, when a certain component or several are worn, produces the result that switching to full auto and pressing the trigger fires all the rounds in the magazine and nothing can be done to stop it. Like you throw the rifle away and it still keeps firing until it runs out. ?
Purpelia does not reflect my actual world views. In fact, the vast majority of Purpelian cannon is meant to shock and thus deliberately insane. I just like playing with the idea of a country of madmen utterly convinced that everyone else are the barbarians. So play along or not but don't ever think it's for real.

Friend, that sounds like one of those awful legal-loophole open bolt guns from the 80s. Are you sure you want to do this? You could, if there was something at fault with the sear, but with enough accidents in training, in the field and at muster, why would you want to?

Basically because I am watching a video on the SA80 and that inspires me to look up random easy to access critical failures I could add to my future 1st generation gun designs as a fluff piece. Like "in use it was discovered that X but they fixed it by version 3" or something.

Didn't the Japanese use bikes in some of their invasions of Southeast Asia, when they defeated the British who were there?

Yes. Singapore campaign. However you shouldn't interpret this decision as meaning that bikes are viable in modern times as a primary means of transport. Owing to the long distance between staging areas and landing areas in Malaysia, the poor infrastructure, the terrible supply situation the Japanese were in, they ended up serving a useful role in the campaign. But that's mostly because the Japanese couldn't ship enough trucks/oil into the area to provide other transport alternatives, and because of the lack of transport by the British/Indian opposition. IIRC the Japanese accepted Singapore's surrender while on basically starvation rations, if that gives you a sense of the supply situation.

What alternatives to the M2 Browning should I look into for reasons of fluff and in-universe writing nonsense?

How common was it for Chinese Nationalist soldiers to use American equipment in WII? I know in early WWII the NRA was largely German equipped, but what about mid or late war?

For what period? The others have more less covered modern alternatives but for earlier interwar stuff you could look at the Vickers. 50 (s), the big hotchkiss 13.2mm mgs and even stuff like the ZB-60.

I've been looking into this "Robinson Gun" type deal, unfortunately, I cannot find any details or pictures past the work of some guy going by the name "ScrewFaceRomeo" on DeviantShart.

The Period is open-ended & ambiguous due to some of the nature of certain technologies lore-wise.
