Yet medicine was for its time very good. I recently heard the story of how diabetes was first diagnosed, in Ancient Greece; physicians noticed that the urine from people who had certain symptoms was constantly attracting honey bees. They correctly guessed that - because bees really like sugar - the urine must contain high amounts of sugar, and so prescribed high sugar foods.

Yes, it's not traumatic medicine, but it illustrates how people are not stupid. I'm sure having contests for who can saw through a leg the fastest is a bit tasteless, but when the alternative is prayers and booze, you take what you get.

Papa Puz for the sake of [[[realism]]] I'd like to know what the medical section of a mechanized brigade would do if a fair number of troops, say I dunno, five were heavily wounded by shrapnel from a big howitzer (D-20 to be specific)

In 200 years they'll probably be just rediscovering miasma theory tbh.

Did I say "nuked"?

It merely needs to be knocked down by lack of breeding. Hikkikomori have inherited the Earth. Otherwise known as "the meek", "spergs", etc.

Good luck with that. It doesn't matter how long you live, though.

Israel and France are literally the only developed economies to maintain the bare minimum birth rate for human survival xD

You won't even have three kids XD

Can't face up to the fact that capitalism is literally an extinction engine.

Although it has more to do with evolution and human psychology combining to make high wealth cause fewer births. For whatever reason, developed economies seem to hit a cliff when they reach a particular point of economic growth that coincides with high education and long lifespans. Then it's a slow race to the bottom as each generation asymptotes to extinction.

If there is a need we can always start spawning more kids later. So far we're just using India and China as our breeding vats.

But anyway, as I said. I will personally mock this for centuries.

1) Male privilege, not checked. Females can only breed until about 35 LOL.
2) This proves you have literally zero knowledge of demography.
3) No, you won't. Maybe a couple of decades and you'll die of cancer, heart disease, or Alzheimer's. Like everyone else.

The only sad thing is that people will be surprised when we go into terminal extinction.

Is there any sort of like solution to the death of the Western world and the rise of the Eastern/Arab world mainly because of the fact that Eastern nation people have more incentive to produce kids?

It's not "the Western world".

It appears to be a universal phenomena associated with high levels of economic development. Somehow wealth creates a perverse incentive against breeding. You'd think that having more money people would be more inclined to have kids since they could support them, but across all strata of society you see a massive reduction in birthrate to the point of extinction. This is possibly related to women being educated and having jobs, but that might not be true, since women have a narrow timespan (approximately half their life, or a third if you want the proper number of chromosomes), to breed. By the time women start settling down into families they're in their thirties and the children you have at 35-40 will have various palsies, syndromes, and genetic disorders that make them unfortunate, to say the least.

If we assume that economic development is more or less an objective outcome (i.e. liberal market capitalism is the way forward, industrialization is good for everyone, etc.) then there's no reason to believe that this isn't a universal phenomena since it's occurred in East, West, North, and South more or less without missing a beat. Look at Iran, Saudi Arabia, or Pakistan. These countries hit the same cliff in the 1990's that the Western world hit in the 1960's, due to their economic development, reaching Stage 3 of the demographic transition. That is, post-peak growth rate and a rapid diminishing rate as development continues.

Stage 5 is where the West is: a slow decline, having transitioned from Stage 4 sometime in the 1990s to varying degrees. The only thing keeping us afloat atm is immigration. What if I told you immigration policies in the West since the 1970s have been implemented with a deliberate goal of staving off extinction long enough for us to solve the problem with technology? It's truer than you think!

Image

The UN, in a highly tendentious and overly optimistic viewpoint, predicts that TFRs will pick up past the replacement rate sometime in the 22nd century. The other scenario is that TFR remains constant today, but we already know that birth rates are a asymptote approaching zero as economic development increases. Both of these are great because they encourage people to continue living their lives today instead of worrying about the problems we face today, because the problems appear to be fundamental to our entire civilization.

The most obvious outcome is that Humanity will be extinct within a few centuries. That's the historical trend that we have been following since the early 1900s. Not even holding back economic development seems to work, since that might simply have the same effect, but at a level which makes stopping it more difficult.

The Bigs, that is the legislatures and other people in charge, have been grappling with this issue for a few decades now. How to face oncoming extinction without panicking millions of people? Without infringing on their rights to live their lives as they want to, without forcing women to breed or men to have children, etc? This is actually the reason that the United Nations has Population Division, but the UN is fucked up from what its founders originally envisioned.

Anyway, the go-to answer for the moment is mass immigration while legislatures try to wrangle with hyper religious nutjobs about "the sanctity of life". So far, the hyper religious are winning. No one is doing serious work on artificial wombs anymore because the politics surrounding it are too hot.

2. Yeah, that's why Millennials are having millions of kids we're back to late Industrial birth rates.
3. Over optimism is also called "delusion", which you seem to suffer from in spades. It only exists in people who don't know what they're talking about, though, thankfully.

The word 'natural means' is key there.

Advanced maternal age increases the risk of genetic deformities like Down's Syndrome and cerebral palsy. This is a fact. As much a fact as disease is caused by microscopic organisms (noceboes OUT!) and washing your hands after you use the restroom is good hygiene.

You go from basically 0% to about a quarter percent at 35 and it increases exponentially to ~3% at about 45 and then it falls off as the ovaries dry up, re: Down's. Palsies and seizure disorders are much more common IIRC, but it's basically because the reproductive organs are nearing the end of lifespan.

So what you're basically saying is that in the future we will be stupider and weaker as a result of AMA children. Good job.

The only way to avoid this is to use IVF, but that's not actually your child, you're just the carrier/breeder for another person's child.

The risk is 3% higher and can be alleviated through a variety of means.

IVF is the only way because it bypasses the egg production altogether.

But even my grandmother could have a kid using IVF.

That's still going to require an egg donor, though.

The best method is, obviously, to breed the oocytes outside of a female womb altogether and just use a machine to do it. But that's decades away, or never if the advanced economies keep getting stonewalled by religious nutjobs. First it's the Christians who do it. Next it'll be the Muslims who are stonewalling human birth machines.

Then again that would require the exceptionally lazy (and getting lazier) Millennial generation to get off their butts and donate eggs and sperm. Egg donation is actually a serious effort.
