Q: We understand that, obviously, the government of the Grand Republic is exceedingly large and has an enormous number of tasks it has to undertake. However, of these tasks, which would you say are perhaps the most important objectives, both in the short term and in the long term for the Republic?

A: Yes, exactly. As you said, obviously the Republic has an important to-do-list that extends quite a bit. Despite that fact, there are evidently objectives that are more important in the plans of the government and our overall goal to secure the stability and security of our nation, not only domestically but also abroad, in this perilous world. You can jot that down as one objective, perhaps, *laughs*. In order to achieve that goal, firstly we plan on ensuring the economic stability of our nation. In the short-term, we're experiencing a minor inflationary gap that should be relatively easy to control with no worries, but for the last decade or so we've been very successful in maintaining GDP growth at potential, which has so far created a very healthy economic situation in the Republic. We have to keep working at it to ensure that we're able to withstand any unforeseen crises in the future, of course. Much like the recent attack at our summit in Antonia, for example. As you surely know, the Republic has declared that a state of war exists between Etzonocua and the Republic now; this was, as of... say... three months ago, last quarter, a completely unexpected situation. And yet, we stand here today, preparing our men and equipment for conflict. This is actually an important part of our second objective: maintaining the security of our nation. Obviously it's important for us to achieve domestic protection, and in retrospect, looking over the last few hundred years, the Republic has been very successful in doing so. However, we must also take into account our foreign interests, and especially our dignitaries in other regions of the world. This attack was clearly an attack against the Republic and its allies, and so, to ensure its security, the Republic must respond with a heavy hand.
Q: I see. In terms of foreign relations, the Republic has historically been at odds with the Waltch Dominion. However, under Valerius' office, that has changed extensively. Is that also an objective of the Republic?

A: Uh, obviously the Republic will have international enemies. This is inevitable in a world as exorbitantly large as ours. However, it's important that the Republic also maintain warm relations with numerous nations, in order to have allies to rely on whenever a situation perhaps dips into territory into which the Republic was not ready to go. The Waltch Dominion is one of them; they're across an ocean from us, only, and are a very lucrative economic market that our companies could potentially tap and succeed in, obviously with the intention of it being reciprocated by the Republic's market. In terms of politics, we're both large nations with substantial political and economic influence in the world. It's only natural that the Chancellery would attempt to establish, uh, friendly relations with the Waltch Central Government.
Q: Right, exactly. And, how about the space market? That's something of rising importance in the Republic, is it not?

A: *chuckles*. Yeah, that's something of rapidly increasing importance within the Republic, and much to the delight of many individuals. Obviously, the innovations undertaken in the private sector for space exploration are magnificent, and beyond the economic boost that such an explosion of a market provides, it's important for the scientific progress of both the Republic, its allies and really the whole world. This new market is providing wonderful opportunities for physicists, chemists, engineers, and a variety of other professions to contribute to the advance of our knowledge of our planet, our solar system, our universe, etc. So, obviously, from the government's point of view, this is excellent, and we plan on participating in this particular venture; Congress has recently passed a new budget for the Grand Stellar Institute that includes a couple billion credits for the expected expenditure of contracts with Thedosian space exploration companies. We're very interested in seeing what we can take from this.
