Due to the importance of sea food in the Isles, great care is taken not to over fish, so that the main food source of the Isles is not depleted, leaving the Isles without sustenance.

The Isles are home to a deadly hemorrhagic disease called Tussimsanguinis, or more commonly Blood Cough. The most common practice now when an outbreak of Blood Cough is reported is to use the military to quarantine the area affected, advise the populace to stay indoors and away from other people. Doctors enter the area, and are only allowed to treat patients if they are wearing full bio hazard suits to avoid spreading the disease further, while similarly outfitted soldiers bring food and water from door to door to the other residents of the area. The soldiers serve a dual purpose as well, as their job of bringing food can also help discover more patients affected by the disease.
