Anyways, time to post something I've shown on Discord, but not on NS proper. First dump are uniform designs for a puppet of mine, with a Late Steampunk/Early Dieselpunk WWI aesthetic. Not entirely original content, but something I've still heavily worked on to give it my own unique look.
Now, with those done, here's something that I've worked on from scratch, with the help and suggestions of some NS buddies on Discord. It's essentially a mashup of a Berthier, Carcano, and Mauser, made into a carbine/service rifle for the same nation. I'm quite happy with the way it looks now, though I'm not quite ready to take it out of the "WIP" phase.(Image)
I like it, but the bayonet could maybe use a little more work. Was also considering a Swedish-style bayonet at the suggestion by another NS'er, or a Spike Bayonet because I just like spike bayonets. I don't really know. Anyways, the rifle itself seems fine to me, even if the bayonet seems a bit off.

If you aren't drawing with vectors then the difficulty has always been getting the angled/curved section right, and getting the track links to line up properly at the end without overlapping or leaving gaps. If you are drawing with vectors this is somewhat easier since you can rotate segments without them getting too blurred, but usually at such small scales things may go wrong even with a vector.
