Government Type: Democratic Constitutional Monarchy
Head of State: The Serene King, Antonio Ricci
Head of Government: The Serene King, Antonio Ricci
    National Overview:
    General:
Velvetos is a Democratic Constitutional Monarchy. At the head of it all is the Serene King that rules over the kingdom. Beneath him are the "Princes" who rule the cities. Velvetos is a kingdom that revolves around trade and culture. It is a gateway between Euclea and Coius and is a continuation of basicly the Silk Road, transporting goods from Coius into Euclea. It's borders have remained relativly stagnant throughout the ages, focusing more on internal growth. The name Velvetos derives from the river "Velvus" which in return derives from Velvet. It is mostly a liberal country with some of its population being more conservative. Culture, Science and Trade are the most important factors in Velvetos.

    The History:
Velvetosians migrated into the Karnacian Peninsula ages ago from the north of Euclea, where modern day Wazovia is. The heavy migrations from the north overshadowed the native population which integrated into our culture. The land here which was ripe for agriculture, fishing and trade was quickly taken over and large cities began sprawling across the peninsula. However, each city was prosperous on its own and thus remained independent (Greek Polises essentialy). It was only after threats from the north and approaching danger appeared that the cities realised they needed to unite all their wealth and power to hold off any attempts at an invasion of this rich land. Thus Velvetos was created. Each city however still retained a sense of independence. After the unification, Velvetos became an extremly wealthy nation and dominated trade even more. It has even before the the unification hold many trade deals with the overseas nation of Fars and supplied Euclea with exotic Coius goods. Many Farsians even migrated to Velvetos and they have become part of the country.
Velvetos however became backwater, industrially at least, in the Industrial Era of the world when the populace revolted against the making of unclean and heavy polluting factories that made the rivers and landscape filthy. It was only after technology improved and the ability to create cleaner factories did Velvetos start properly industrializing.

    The Government:
There is a 2-step election that is required to become the monarch. The Crowning of the Low and The Crowning of the High as they are both named. The 1st step is The Crowning of the Low.
As each city desired a representation in the now unified Velvetos, a governing system needed to be made to appeal to the masses. Each city has a number of aristocratic families and each family can designate 1 member of the family as a possible candidate to become "Prince", the governing ruler of the city. Then after each candidate is chosen, the people begin voting on the candidate they wish to elect to power. The aristocratic families had no say in these votes and all was left to the people. Since there would be many candidates, the candidates would be halved, with the top half proceeding unto further voting while the other going out of the race. The halving would continue until there were 2 representatives left after which 1 will become elected into power as Prince. Next proceeds The Crowning of the High which is the election for the ruler of the kingdom. The candidates for this election would be the Princes of each city. The people would proceed to vote for their candidate until The Serene King is chosen. Since these elections can take up to weeks and even months, a figure is needed to replace the monarch in this time. The Royal Regent as he is called would be the candidate that came in 2nd place. This Regent is as well a candidate for the High Election.

    Social views:
    • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: Velvetosians have always accepted homosexuality as a thing, even in the past. This has however caused at times problems with the church.
    • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Very acceptive to religions, at times even housing heretics in its land.
    • General population's view on atheism: Frowned upon. Velvetosians believe that their wealth is not just by pure merit but assisted by a greater power. Didn't matter which greater power, just that there had to be one.
    • General population's view on abortion: Frowned upon. Children are gifts from life that need to be loved for just as a madman would gold.
    • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Accepted. All the trade in Velvetos have made Velvetosians tolerant people to all ethnic groups.
    • Any big prejudices in your nation: There are no major prejudices in Velvetos.
    • View on immigration into country: Very accepted. Immigration is open and welcoming to everybody.
    • Women's Rights: In the past it was non-existant however in modern times, Women have all the rights as men.
    • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Most substances are legal except a few potent and dangerous drugs however Velvetos encourages that people do not consume such substances.
    Other:
    • Factbook: Wiki page will be made

National information
Official Name: Königreich Weiderland.
Shortened Name: Weiderreich
Requested Location: Between Wazovia, Vredlandia and Ostrozska.
RP Population: Anywhere between 40 to 60 million
Culture: Weiderland consists of a very Liberal society in terms of Art and media, this is expressed through paintings, literature and television shows enjoyed by the people of Weider. Older generations of the Weider people are very militaristic, most of which were conscripted into the military during "The Great War" and have since struggled to integrate themselves into the new mindset of the Weider youth. Conscription still remains as a Government policy, which the people of Weider see as being just as a form of National duty. Despite being a Democratic country, Weiderland has a contingency plan that consists of emergency powers that can be granted to the head of the government. This is a backup plan in the case of an economic or political emergency that poses a significant threat to Weiderland. The culture of Weiderland allows this as the people of Weider have a firm belief that Weiderland needs a strong leader in dire situations.
  • Ethnicity: Predominantly white, composed of Weiders with Vredan, Wazovian and Ostrozskan minorities. With an even greater minority of Gaullicans, Coians and Bahians focused in urban areas.
  • Religion: 45% Solarian Catholic, 40% Amendist Sotirianity (23% Weiderland Confessional Church, 17% Episocopal Church of Weiderland), 9% Agnostic/Atheist/Did not respond the remaining 6% are minorities from the Vredlandian Church, Bógumilojisk and Atudaism
  • Languages: The official language of Weiderland is Weider, with a recognized regional minority of Vredan and an unrecognized minority of Wazovian. An increasing amount of Weiders are bilingual through education, many adopting Gaullican as a secondary language.
Government Type: Parliamentary elective Monarchy
Head of State: Gunter Steinmeyer
Head of Government: Olaf Hackenholt.
National Overview: The people of Weiderland came from a series of tribes, a tributary of "Old Althiria" that eventually broke off when the state collapsed. The Weranians travelled westward, entering what was to become Weiderland in the early 400s, having migrated to establish Weranic confederations and tribal kingdoms that eventually became large states in the era. During the Medieval era, the separate tribes that came to the land of Weider were in disarray over who should lead. This lead to the nation being split in a bloody civil war between the western and eastern sides of the Weiderland. Those who wished to follow the traditional Eastern culture of Werania and those who wished to start anew and adopt the culture of newly found neighbours to the west. It was only until there was an outsider threat, that the eastern and western tribes of Weiderland signed a truce of peace. Invading Wazovian forces from the West threatened to overthrow the Weider tribes, however after many years of fighting the combined forces managed to push them out of the region and back into their own homelands. After the war, both eastern and western tribes decided to merge in order to survive any future threat from the Wazovian people, thus beginning the Weider Confederation. The Weider confederation was led by the largest tribe at the time, this being the Veldereich who were originally of the Eastern side in the civil war. The leader of the Veldereich Wilfred Von Sydow united the tribes under him and appointed the leaders of the smaller western and eastern tribes as his Lords. During the Renaissance era, The Weider Confederation was at war with Althira over trade. They had also planned to send some colonizing parties up north and down south, but both attempts at expansion failed miserably and there were no further attempts after this time. Over the years, the leaders of Weiderland decided to create a council, made up of the Lords from both the eastern and western tribes. The Kaiser would sit at the head of the council and this would soon form what is known as the earliest form of democracy in Weiderland. The council members would bring up current issues that need to be dealt with and they would decide on the best solution through a voting system. If there ever came a time where the votes were tied, the Kaiser would make the deciding vote. The Kaiser also had the ability to overrule any decisions made if he saw fit and he had to be present for every voting session to ensure that it was a fair vote. This system gradually evolved over time and in the modern day, the Kaiser no longer has the power to overrule decisions and the Monarchy is simply for tradition. All the emergency power is given to the head of the Government instead. During the "Great War" Weiderland sided with The Entente. This was partly due to their dispute with the Wazovians in the past and partly because they saw them as a great threat. The decision to join The Entente came directly from the Kaiser despite the government's vote against it, this would prove to be the last time the Kaiser would be given emergency power as there was an outrage among the people. After losing the war to the Democratic Alliance, Weiderland decided it would stick to its more democratic roots and listen to the needs of the people, which led to the removal of the emergency powers for the Kaiser.

Social views:
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: The youth of Weiderland largely accepts Gay people, the Liberal culture of Weider proved itself pro-gay rights as a legislation that approved gay marriage was passed in 2015. However the older generations of Weider are less welcoming of this change and stick to their old fashioned views which outcast Gay people.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Weider's population widely accepts minority religions, however a minority of the people shun minority religions. There have been cases in Weider of racist groups being formed, however these groups do not represent the ideology of the majority of the people.
  • General population's view on atheism: Atheism is more common in the youth of Weider, as most adults and senior citizens were brought up with varying religions.
  • General population's view on abortion: As Weiderland has a very Liberal culture, most of the people of Weider are pro-choice, with very few taking on a conservative approach of pro-life.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): The people of Weider tend to be very accepting of their Vredan and Ostrozskan neighbours, however they are slightly more wary of Wazovians.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation The people of Weider have a slight prejudice against Wazovia
  • View on immigration into country: As a nation that began from a group of Weranian immigrants coming from the East, Weider people tend to have a welcoming attitude to most Immigrants. They do however expect them to integrate themselves into Weider society and give back to the community.
  • Women's Rights: Weider people pride themselves on gender equality in the workplace and in society as a whole. Their militaristic past was far different as women were expected to adopt a homemaker role while men were conscripted. However after the Great War, several legislations were passed by the government to ensure that women were given equal opportunity, such as equal pay acts and the conscription of women as well as men.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs:
The legal age for to drink in Weiderland is 17. The age to buy Tobacco is raised even higher at 20 years of age. Most drugs are illegal in Weiderland, however recently the Government has been arguing on the legalization of marijuana for medical research.

Other:

National information
Official Name: Luminese Republic of Meidao
Shortened Name: Meidao
Demonym: Meidaonese
Requested Location: The islands south of Zimte - already marked on the map that Calt made in #welcome-announcements
RP Population: 17.5 million
Culture: (A brief summation of the nation's culture, language, and so forth. If it has a real-world equivalent or inspiration, be sure to list it here.)
  • Ethnicity: Meidaonese, as a sub-ethnic group of Songhua, I suppose. Substantial, but not too large, Nematsujin population as a result of occupation and historical piracy. Tiny Althiran and Farsi populations as a result of colonial administration and trade immigration, but the majority of the population is Meidaonese, as a result of interbreeding and natural population growth.
  • Religion: Dominant religion is ancestral worship, done through small local or familial shrines, although there are large (still minority) populations of Lotherists and Catholics as a result of ADC influence and Althiran influence. A tiny Mazdaic population has developed as well.
  • Languages: Majority of the population speaks Meidaonese, a dialect of Song that developed over centuries of difference. Still distinguishable from Song proper, but mutually intelligible. A good portion also speaks Althiran and most politicians speak Gaullican as well.
Government Type: Democratic republic, with power vested in a bicameral parliament: Parliament of the People, and Parliament of the Land (working names) as a lower and upper house, respectively. The majority of legislative power rests within the PotP, which elects the Prime Minister in the standard European way, while the Parliament of the Land elects the President. Voting is done through PR, although each island also votes for a single seat in the PotL.
Head of State: President Min Jingyi Lee
Head of Government: Prime Minister Guo Jianhong Yuen
National Overview: (A brief summary of your nation's general political ideology and society.)

Social views:
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: SSM was legalized by a vote of Parliament in 1999, and sodomy and other LGBT-related sexual acts were decriminalized in the early 1990s. Transgender individuals are given partially subsidized SRS if they pass a psychological assessment and evaluation. Meidao has a fairly thriving LGBT population, although there are some tensions between older generations and younger ones - primarily about 'continuing the family line' rather than 'stone the gays'.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Organized religion is an oddity in Meidao, but not opposed or discriminated against.
  • General population's view on atheism: As with Mother Song, Meidao does not particularly care about atheism.
  • General population's view on abortion: Distasteful and taboo to discuss in public, but abortion is allowed among the citizenry. Tourists cannot get abortions, nor can minors unless the state or the parents consent. In the case of rape, incest, or genetic defects, Meidao often subsidizes the abortion over the objection of the small Sotiran minority in Meidao.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Almost irrelevant; the population of native Althirans is small, and most Meidaonese citizens are, well, Meidaonese. Other ethnic groups are considered oddities, but are not legally discriminated against.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation Horridly against poor people; being poor is a sign of inferior mind or work ethic. The Meidaonese prioritize acquisition of wealth and such over nearly everything, other than their family. Even then, within their families, the men are expected to sacrifice quality time with their loved ones in order to work to acquire more material wealth. The Meidaonese are rabid consumers, prone to picking up the latest Satucin or Songhua fads and running with them.
  • View on immigration into country: If Songhua, welcomed with open arms. If not Songhua, then welcomed, but required to take Meidaonese language lessons. Integration is difficult and tedious, given the mildly more xenophobic nature of the Meidaonese. Tourism is fine and welcome, but living in Meidao is more finicky.
  • Women's Rights: Women are an essential part of any family, and in the eyes of the Meidaonese, that is where they belong - with their family. Women legally have all of the rights that men do, but are socially encouraged to pursue home-making careers and paths. Some women are trailblazers and pursue careers in business, the military, or politics, but they are few and far between.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: All recreational drugs (tobacco, marijuana, alcohol, etc) have been legalized and can be produced, distributed,
and sold throughout Meidao. Some age restrictions apply on selling alcohol and tobacco, but are not stringently enforced. All 'harder' drugs are more stringently monitored, with the production of opium, heroin, etc, forbidden, as well as the distribution and sale of them. Use of heroin, etc, is not legal, but is not criminalized either, with offenders simply forced to go to rehab if caught by the police. Songhua tourists are allowed small personal exceptions to this law, but cannot sell their personal supply of drugs.

Head of State: Arrajin Hyupatos (First Consul): Tigran Sarkissian
Head of Government: Yerkrord Hyupatos (Second Consul) Sadi Tarpinian
National Overview:

Politics: Denikert's form of democracy has several differentiating points. The first is the existence of the ZKSAA (Association for the Support of Continuing Democratic Governance- Zhoghovrdavarakan Karravarman Sharunakut’yann Ajakts’yelu Asots’iats’ia), a political party formed by the military with its leadership formed from the upper echelons of the military leadership. The ZKSAA, in times of relative calm, acts as a neutral force in politics, with members abstaining from all votes on any matter unless the stability of the current government is at stake, while their involvement in politics increases as international instability increases. Their vote tracker and opinion poll serves as a reliable indication of how safe the average voter feels from external matters. Otherwise, the military will only intervene in politics if the prized institutions of Denikert are endangered from within, much like how the military will only assume political control if the nation is endangered from without.

Otherwise, Denikert's political scene is much like any other democracy, with several political parties spread across the political spectrum. In addition to normal issues, each party has a different (although not distinct) stance on the issue of Darshistan and Fars.

History: The area now known as Denikert was home to one of the 'cradles of civilization', along the Azbek and Davar river valleys. These two rivers gave rise to some of the first major Bronze Age civilizations and cities in Coius along their banks around 4500 BC. Various civilizations and cultures rose, flourished and fell over the next few millennia, until the rising Farsi Empire to the south conquered the various smaller states around 640 BC.

Denikert spent the following centuries under the Farsi Empire, until the rise of the Salamic Caliphate in 700~ AD and its conquest of Denikert over the period 720 AD-730 AD. The next 300 years saw Denikert as the main battleground between the much-weakened Farsi Empire and the Salamic Caliphate, with the former mounting ineffectual attempts to retake Denikert. After 300 years of on and off fighting between the Farsi and Caliphate, the Caliphate began to impose higher taxes on the majority Mazdaic population of Denikert. This, combined with the gradual rise of a more austere and less tolerant brand of Salam led to the Zoulvisian Rebellion of 922 AD, where Zoulvisia, a merchant's daughter who claimed to have been granted visions of a coming second prophet by Mazda, led a zealotry-fuelled revolt against the Caliphate.

Zoulvisia's revolt met with initial successes against the Caliphate, and she gathered a group of fifteen followers called the Companions who served as her bodyguard/scribes/priests, but in 924 AD her army was defeated at the Battle of Nikkert and Zoulvisia herself was killed in battle, her body taken from the field by her Companions and buried in her hometown of Shamiramishen, a grave which her children swore to preserve until the coming paradise. Her Companions compiled their writings into a book called the Writings of the Companions of Zoulvisia, which would go on to be the basis for Zoulvisian Mazdaism. Over the next two centuries, as Zoulvisia achieved near-legendary status within Denikert, Zoulvisian Mazdaism would largely supplant the more peaceful Heqanatic Mazdaism that Fars followed. Zoulvisia also inspired several holy orders to form, the most notable of which are the Mardaspan, more commonly known by their Badiwayan name of Hashhashin, who were known for their often-suicidal assassinations of Mumin nobility and generals over the 10th and 11th centuries, and the Fedayi, militant Dasturs who led several peasant revolts during the 11th century with mixed success.

It took the Crusades to finally weaken the Caliphate to a point where the Fedayi and Mardaspan could finally lead a successful open revolt against the Caliphate and proclaimed Zenobia I Terzouvisia as the new T’aguhin (Queen) of Denikert, uniquely with cognatic-agnatic primogeniture being the method of succession. The Terzouvisian Dynasty ruled until 1855, fighting several wars against both the Farsi Empire to the south and the various Mumin states to the north until Amathia invaded and turned Denikert into a protectorate with the monarchy as a figurehead.

Elen III Terzouvisia, dissatisfied with this arrangement, attempted a revolt in 1879 but was soundly defeated, resulting in the exile of the Terzouvisian Dynasty except for a single member who was responsible for tending to the Mausoleum of Zoulvisia. Colonial Denikert saw itself exploited by Amathia, largely for its agricultural produce although some prospecting attempts indicated potentially large rare earth deposits in the inland areas. This period also saw the rebirth of the Mardaspan, although this time as a terrorist group and having nowhere near the impact that their medieval namesake did.

During the Great War, Fars invaded Amathian Denikert, while Denikert's populace was split; many formed militias in the manner of the medieval Fedayi, while others joined the colonial forces of Amathia to resist their religious and traditional enemy. In the latter stages of the war, the pretender Arman II Terzouvisia was invited back by the Amathia and Gaullica to attempt to bolster support within the population of Denikert for their cause, but the war ended before this could have much effect.

After the Great War, Farsi troops occupied Darshistan and southern Denikert during the Great War, and refused to leave after the war's end, while de jure Denikert was given as a Community of Nations Mandate to Werania, with the goal being to develop Denikert to such a state that it could survive on its own, with the monarchy to be returned to power to assist in governance. This agreement split the Denikert militias, some of which de facto disbanded, while others fought the royalist forces of Arman II Terzouvisia, the departing forces of Amathia and the arriving forces of Werania. The remaining active militias were swiftly crushed by the combined forces, but the Mardaspan and Fedayi continued a low-intensity insurgency for several decades afterwards, while Werania accepted de facto Farsi rule over Darshistan and southern Denikert.

A second revolt in 1949 was attempted by the combined forces of the Mardaspan and Fedayi along with Arman II Terzouvisia and his royalists, but was again crushed within a year by the forces of the Weranian Army and elements of the Colonial Denikert Army loyal to them. Independence was finally granted in 1955, with a 5-year transitional period as Werania gradually handed authority over to the new Grand Republic of Denikert and a CN referendum on the status of the monarchy in 1956 saw a 53%-47% defeat for the restoration of the monarchy. Arman II Terzouvisia died in 1957, but his daughter, Mane I Terzouvisia, was elected as the first Arrajin Hyupatos of Deikert in 1960.

After gaining full independence in 1960, Denikert undertook rapid militarisation with the aim of expelling the Farsi forces which still occupied what was de jure its southern territory and Darshistan. The 19-Day War of 1967 saw a decisive victory for Denikert, with all of its southern territories being reclaimed and a Zoulvisian Mazdaic dictatorship being established over Darshistan.

The Cold War between Denikert and Fars lasted until the breakout of the Darshistan War in the late 1980s, where CN intervention forced a ceasefire and the current powersharing agreement in Darshistan. After Fars joined the Coian League with Hyndana in the early 1990s, Denikert entered an alliance with Negara to counter Fars, but otherwise there has been little movement from either side recently.

Culture/Language: Denikert has a deep respect for its institutions; most people's relatives fought for independence and their establishment in a region that had rarely been conducive to a stable state for either the Den or Larsam people, and their preservation against all odds is held up as a distinct matter of pride in a region otherwise dominated by autocrats of various flavours. The two cultures and people are quite intertwined, with many people speaking both languages to an extremely good degree, as both are taught in school from a young age.

Social views:
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: Accepting, as long as it is kept relatively private.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Extremely frowned upon. Local religions are largely tolerated, but all other religions are regarded as attempts by Angra Mainyu to turn people away from the path of asha.
  • General population's view on atheism: Extremely frowned upon. Someone without religion is regarded as faithless and untrustworthy. Those who profess to be atheists are also subject to higher tax rates.
  • General population's view on abortion: Legal until 24 weeks, after which it is illegal. Has a monetary cost unless its a child of rape, in which case the state covers the costs.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): The Larsam are regarded as cultural brothers; they and the Den share a common religion, a common history, an overlapping mythology and deep cultural links. Nearly all smaller minority groups are also accepted with open arms.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation Has a strong dislike of Mumin Badiwayans and non-Zoulvisian Mazdaics, especially Farsi.
  • View on immigration into country: Depends on religion. Fellow Zoulvisian Mazdaics are welcomed with open arms, while everyone else, unless they convert shortly after, is ostracised from the community at large.
  • Women's Rights: Equal before and under the law, and respected throughout society. Zoulvisia being a woman led to women being regarded more highly earlier on in time, and thus rights were gained more easily and earlier on after independence in addition to being regarded more highly in society in general.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Tobacco and alcohol are both legal, although taxed heavily. Other drugs are banned and carry a deep social stigma due to their association with the Hashashin and their suicide-assassinations.

Other:
  • Factbook: Not yet.
  • RP Preferences: Just about anything.
  • RP Samples: Pfft.
  • Primary/Other NS Nations: None.

There also exist a very small amount of the indigenous people, known as the Rulawan, who practice their traditional pre-Sotirian religion.
  • Religion: There is no majority religion in Bokela, though both sects of Salam make up a majority, with Solarian Catholicism near. There are also notable minorities of Atudites and Mazdaics.
  • Languages: The official language of Bokela is Sulario, a descendant of Solarian with large Badawiyan influences, which can be written in both the Solarian and Badawiyan scripts. Badawiyan is a recognised language,
being known mainly by the Bokelan Muladis, as is !Hebrew and Farsi.
Government Type: Officially it is a Federal parliamentary elective constitutional monarchy. The Council of Princes (Concilio de Sidis) is the upper house and an unelected body made up of the twenty sovereign princes, or representatives send in their stead, and is headed by the Britur. Every six years (or if the current one abdicates) the Council meets to elect a new Britur (a term derived from the old Solarian Praetor) who acts as the Head of State. The People's Assembly (Asumbla Populo) is a directly elected democratic body, with membership being determined by population size, + 10 for every state. Both houses are equal when it comes to legislature, with the exception of the federal budget. The Vasur (derived from the Badawiyan Vizier) is often the leader of the largest party, whether by majority or coalition, and must be approved by majority vote in the Council of Princes. Each states has its own government and parliament, and there is some tension between federal and state powers, oversight, and overreach.

History
Likely to change/update when integrated into regional and other people's lore
Pre-Solaria: Had an indigenous (non Hyndo-Euclean) culture from the Neolithic period to the middle of the Age of Empires. Not much is known of this indigenous culture, though their descendants live on in small numbers and call themselves the Rulawan. Based on a few ruins found in nearby coastal Euclea and Badawiya, it is believed that they were a seafaring people who set up a few short-lived colonies. There is also evidence of some !Canaanite settlements on the island, and of some of the Rulawan becoming Atudites, though it is believed most of Bokela's atudite population hail from medieval and early modern immigrants and converts. They were then conquered by the !Carthaginians, and their fleet served an important role in the first war against Ancient Solaria, while their troops were famed as skirmishers. With !Carthage's defeat, Bokela was annexed by Solaria.
Solarian Age - The Bokelans put up little resistance to their new masters, and were quickly subsumed into the growing empire as auxiliaries, and their fleet and ports became an integral part and base of the imperial navy. Solaria lightly colonised the areas, mainly with veterans, though by the golden age of the empire all inhabitants of the island, with the exception of those living in the Xavoko mountains, considered themselves Solarian, were Solarian citizens, and spoke Vulgar Solarian.
Age of Darkness: With the collapse of Solaria, Bokela suddenly became isolated from the vast empire it had once been a part of. The Propraetor at the time took charge, and largely succeeded in preventing anarchy, and keeping it politically and economically stable. Carcosi attempts to establish footholds on the island were thwarted, though it diminished Bokelan power. As Gaullica attempted to recreate the empire, Bokela sent envoys and the Propraetor submitted to new imperial rule. Bokelan provided troops and ships to the conflict with the Farsi, which further diminished it economically and militarily.
Salamic Colonisation: Bokela was successfully invaded by the Salamic Caliphate, and was quickly integrated though it remained an outlying region, only used as a stepping stone to Euclea. Caliphal power waned, until the mid-9th century when the ruling emir declared his independence. The Mumins had adapted to the local customs of the island, and in many areas employed Sotirian lords, known as Sidis. The Salamicisation of the island was initially very quick, especially on the south-eastern side of the island, before slowing due to resistance from Sotirian rebels, and missionaries sent from Solaria.
11th c. to 16th c.: The emirate collapsed in the late 10th century, and various Sotirian and Mumin 'taifas' were created. War plagued the island for a century, with Carcosa interfering and managing to directly annex a few coastal cities, as well as hold sway over several Sidi and Imers (Emirs). Most of the island, barring the north east, the Carcosi cities, and most of the west, was united under the Humalid Sultanate for two centuries, before that collapsed into autonomous taifas. In the 15th century, the !Shia sect of Salam began to grow on the island as the !Shia Ghurik Imers of Jadida conquered much of the former Humalid Sultanate's lands, and in its brief 45 years managed to convert a sizeable amount of the population, but more noticeably put in power many of the !Shia princely families which still rule in those areas to this day.
17th to early 20th c.: Its strategic location, and the fact that it was so divided, made it a good target for expanding Euclean empires. It was conquered by x. in the mid-17th century, but revolts against direct rule, allowed it, with the aid of y., to remove x.. Y's influence grew exponentially, and through a series of treaties they were able to establish their suzerainty over the island, and garrison it, while respecting the autonomy and "sovereignty" of the various states. The Bokelan states unanimously agreed to stay neutral during the Great War, though whether they were forced into it by their overlord, or invaded regardless, will be established when GW lore is done.
20th to 21st c.: Bokela becomes independent in 1948, and the various princes held a meeting that year in which they established the main constitutional basis for the 'Princely States of Bokela', though they hold absolute power within their respective states, and refuse calls to establish democracy. In 1955 unrest soon becomes civil war, as militias loyal to either princes, religion, or democracy, battle in the streets. The Bokelan Federal Army fails to prevent the violence, and soon many of its soldiers join the various militias. In 1956 the Britur appeals to the CoN, and it responds with both peacekeepers, and bombing the strongholds of rebels and militias that refuse to come to peace talks. 1957 sees the crisis averted, as the Council of Princes redraw the constitution, and establish Bokela as a secular and democratic federal constitutional monarchy. The militias are disbanded, and the various leaders are pardoned of any legal actions they took during the war, though a few are prosecuted a decade later for war crimes. In the 1970s Bokela opted out of joining the Euclean Community, with many Muladi princes and citizens feeling uneasy about joining a Euclean organisation mostly composed of Sotirians, but it attempted good relations with the EC. In 2005, various peaceful marches (known as the Green Revolution) in Salamic majority states saw them force their parliaments and rulers to commit to a more liberal and less religious approach to law and society.

Social views:
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: Homosexuality is illegal in 9 of the 20 states, but by federal law it cannot be criminalised in any way. Odoram is the only state to allow same-sex marriage (though this is undergoing a case in the supreme court), though the other 10 where it is legal recognise civil partnerships.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: By federal law any citizen of Bokela, regardless of ethnicity, religion or language, is allowed to be any religion or none. (Salamic) Apostasy is illegal in all of the Salamic majority states (except Anecra, Faros and Alesfeyn), but by a supreme court ruling cannot be criminalised or enforced, and since the '2005 Green Revolution' there have been growing movements to remove old, and unenforcable laws, such as this.
  • General population's view on atheism: Legal, but disliked as a (lack-of) religious identity. Atheism and Deism as philosophical concepts, or merged into their respective religions, is considered far more acceptable.
  • General population's view on abortion: Illegal in most states, with a few allowing it in only a few cases.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): It is illegal to discriminate based on ethnicity or race. That said, there is some racism displayed towards Badawiyans by Sulars, and Eucleans by Muladis. Muladis also see Badawiyan heritage as more prestigious, and may discriminate against other Muladis who have less Badawiyan ancestry.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: The main is religious tension and conflict, which while relatively tame compared to other mixed countries, can sometimes erupt into neighbourhood skirmishes, or full blown riots. Attempts at integration and education since the 1960s has seen a marked drop in prejudicial attacks, but they still occur.
  • View on immigration into country: Immigrants face a tough time integrating, as they often do in any country, and their success in integrating often depends on their religion and ethnicity, and of where they move. The government has a policy that immigrants integrate into the culture, though they celebrate them as Bokelan culture was made from the synthesis of two 'immigrant' (others would argue conquering) cultures, the Solarians and Badawiyans.
  • Women's Rights: Upheld by federal law as completely equal.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs:
All drugs are illegal, with the exception of alcohol and tobacco. Alcohol in the Salamic majority states is illegal for those of the Salamic faith, though due to supreme court rulings this cannot be a criminal act. Most !Sunni Mumins tend not to drink, while those of the !Shia sect tend to ignore those passages, point to others that are contradictory, or have it on special occasions.

  • Factbook: Not yet.
  • RP Preferences: I don't like nation rps, or writing news or tweets, or character and faction rps.
  • RP Samples: Abdol de Xamah stood next to his Vizier. "Give me 10,000 soldiers now." he said.
The Vizier nodded, and they walked outside where 10,000 elite, very skilled infantry stood in formation.
"Soldiers, I give you this epic speech now because it will take up most of this post, and will look really epic. Fight for me and all that jazz, ok bye." Abdol said, and it was epic.
His 10,000 men then marched into Gaullica, conquering it. Abdol smiled, he was once again proving why they called him the Victorious King of Heroic Conquests.
"Now we conquer the Federation." he whispered quietly to himself, receiving a round of applause from his devoted companions and servants.
The next day the Federation was conquered, and he was crowned King-Emperor of Kylaris.

National information
Official Name: Free City of Carcosa and the Aurean Islands
Shortened Name: Carcosa
Requested Location: Small group of islands in the Aurean Straits and a tiny piece of mainland Coius
RP Population: 8,107,400 (2016 estimate)
Culture: Carcosa has vaguely Solarian cultural influences, as well as some old traditions dating back to the Sea Peoples who first brought the city to greatness, but these days it is primarily a great melting pot.
  • Ethnicity: The Amyr (essentially the descendants of the Sea Peoples, Solarians, and Badawiyans) are the largest ethnic group, but Carcosa is majority-minority, with millions of Badawiyans, Eucleans, Bahians, and Coians all crammed together and heavily intermixed.
  • Religion: Solarian Catholicism and Salam are the city's predominant religions.
  • Languages: Gaullican is the official language simply for convenience's sake, though a significant fraction of the population speaks Amyr as their mother tongue, but Carcosa's citizens speak hundreds of different languages.
Government Type: Carcosa could be best described as a deeply flawed democracy bordering on an oligarchy.
Head of State/Government: Princeps Senatus Hélène Statia
National Overview: Carcosa, built on a small cluster of islands in the middle of the Aurean Strait, has long been one of the world's foremost cities, spanning the gap between Euclea and Coius along one of the world's most critical waterways. Built up by the Sea Peoples who swept into the Solarian Sea before Solaria rose to power, and then conquered by that mighty empire, Carcosa remained a thriving metropolis even after the fall of Solaria and for centuries was one of the dominant players in Southern Euclea and Northern Coius. Its fleets and trading empire extended throughout the Solarian Sea, but as the 1600s and 1700s wore on, Euclea's great states began fielding increasingly powerful fleets of their own and flexing their economic muscles.

Growing ever weaker in the face of large, centralized, and increasingly industrialized Euclean states, however, it eventually submitted to Gaullican hegemony, becoming a protectorate in the early 1800s. Despite this, Carcosa retained a distinct culture, and fear of the fickle Carcosian mob and its wrath prevented Gaullica from ever annexing the proud city. As the Age of Imperialism wore on, Carcosa began to draw immigrants from around the globe, both those who ended up washing up on its shores like flotsam and those seeking a better life in Euclea's wealthy, advanced nations. With this flow of cheap labor, and resources from across Gaullica's empire and elsewhere in the worldflowing through its port, Carcosa became one of Euclea's great industrial cities as the 1800s wore on.

The city grew rapidly in the late 1800s and into the 1900s, but the rise of National Functionalism in Gaullica and the outbreak of the Great War threatened its fortunes. The city was heavily bombed and shelled when Allied forces swept in and Carcosians took to the streets to eject Gaullican forces from the city, but this triggered a frenetic postwar building boom as Carcosa continued to maintain a crucial role in world trade. For a number of years, as Euclea recovered from war, the city remained aloof from the Continent, preferring the stability guaranteed by a Negaran naval detachment and security pact. However, as the turbulence of postwar Euclea settled, the EC matured, and Gaullica's economic engine once again began to hum, Carcosa drifted back towards Euclea, eventually allowing the treaty with Negara to lapse and joining the Euclean Community as a full member. Its role as an entrepot port began to grow during this period, as well as its financial sector.

Carcosa's government is largely dominated by its wealthiest families. While their influence remains largely behind the scenes, and Carcosa maintains all appearances of a functional democracy, the city is in many ways an oligarchy, and there is a massive divide between its wealthiest citizens- living in penthouses, jetting around the world, or watching the city hum from their yachts- and its poorest, living in cage apartments or crawlspaces thanks to its astronomical housing prices. Despite these struggles, it remains a huge draw for poor immigrants from around the globe, especially Coius, seeking a better life either in the city that never sleeps, or beyond, in Euclea.

The city's wealth and modern economy remains largely based on entrepot trade and shipping, and it has one of the world's largest ports, handling millions upon millions of containers and huge quantities of everything from grain to liquefied natural gas. Carcosa also has several massive shipbuilding and shipbreaking yards, but as other countries have risen to compete more in world maritime trade, the city has also become a draw for Euclean tourists attracted by its legal gambling and prostitution and permissive drug laws. The city has also become an increasingly important financial center, with more relaxed regulations than much of mainland Euclea making it an attractive place both for major corporate headquarters and for startup firms. In addition to its more legitimate financial dealings, Carcosa is known as an attractive tax haven for the wealthy, and its ancient banking institutions, known for their discretion, are excellent places for the world's super-rich to stash their cash.

Social views:
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: SSM is legal and most people don't care
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Carcosa has a long history of religious tolerance and diversity, and both the Solarian Catholic and the Mumin clergy have lost most of their power over the last two centuries
  • General population's view on atheism: No one really cares
  • General population's view on abortion: Abortion is legal for women for any reason, as long as they can pay or have insurance
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): First-generation immigrants to the city tend to be most suspicious about those who are different from themselves, but most of the city is past caring terribly much about race
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: Almost everyone, no matter how new to the city, looks down on those who are fresher off the boat.
  • View on immigration into country: Modern Carcosa has been built by cheap immigrant labor and immigration is seen as a positive good to be encouraged, even if it does cause problems in terms of housing prices
  • Women's Rights: Fine
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Most drugs are legal to possess and consume in small amounts, but not to sell (cannabis, MDMA, and certain grades of opium being the exceptions on the sale bit), and alcohol is completely legal and heavily consumed

Other:
  • Factbook: no
  • RP Preferences: I like any RP I do, whether it's about high-level political machinations, diplomatic summits, or wars, to ultimately be about the characters at the center.

National information
Official Name: Kingdom of Andurne
Shortened Name: Andurne
Requested Location: The space east of Zimte
RP Population: 36,753,900 but I might raise it depending on how big the land I'm claiming is.
Culture and Ethnicity: If you can imagine a mix between post-apartheid South Africa/Rhodesia, Australia, and Guyana then you're on the right track... There are influences from Britain, native Amerindian culture, and former African slaves.
The only official languages are English and Adurna creole. Uniquely among south American countries a large white minority exists from the age of colonization. This does not come from just the slightly above average number of settlers between discovery and release, but also the unfortunate fact that a lot of natives died off from diseases they had no defenses from. Additionally a large number of freed slaves emigrated back to Africa or neighboring nations that did not have apartheid. Ethnically the population is made up from 20% White (mostly British), 50.5% Black (mostly descended from freed slaves), 20% mixed race (White/Amerindian or white/black for the most part), and around 9.5% Amerindian.
Government Type: Federal constitutional monarchy.
Head of State: Technically queen Elizabeth II but Prince Mathew Steyn is the prince of Andurne
Head of Government: President Pieter Odena
National Overview: (A brief summary of your nation's general political ideology and society.)
In contrast to south Africa where white people clung on to power for as long as possible, Andurne gradually shifted out of it's racial divide in the late 70's and early 80's when universal suffrage was finally made law. Before this whereas the native Amerindians had their tribal councils that were listened to by the central government, but black people simply did not have the right to vote. This was partly because of prejudices but also due to the right to vote being reserved for the educated who owned their own property (i.e for the majority, white people).
Of course after slavery ended prejudices gradually waned, and as the black population steadily became educated to be more or less on par with everyone else, the end of the Apartheid like system ended.
However there ended up being a prince of Andurne due to conservative elements in the government seeing this coming and deciding that they wanted a permanent white figurehead who would be above the presidency (though his power would be limited). So a member of parliament who claimed ancestry both from one of the first governors of the colony, and a noble house from the UK, was sworn in as the prince of Andurne.
The title of prince being used due to the insistence of some that queen Elizabeth not be "usurped as head of state".
The making of the head of state a heredity prince did cause some debate and indeed disbelief in the UK and as of 2017 there are still many nations who quietly behind the backs of the princedom that is under 40 years old.
Politically the country is mostly divided between the Andurne labour party, the conservatives, and the Andurne freedom party as well as a half dozen smaller parties.
The scars of the past have slowly healed and racism is no longer a large issue.

Official Name: Princedom of Golathin (Hennish: Prinsdom van Gekozenland, Vreden: Princisiba nov Gelzvaht)
Shortened Name: Golathin
Requested Location: A (or B if the LC thinks it would be a better location)
RP Population: 18,692,000
Culture: Golathin is a highly religious nation, populated primarily by Weranic-speaking peoples that migrated to the area during the colonial period to avoid persecution due to their odd Sotirian sect. The teachings of their sect - the Church of Christ Undivided - permeate all layers of society. The country has been considered a melting pot of specifically Weranic cultures.
  • Ethnicity: Henns and Vredens together form a plurality in the country. There also Kesselbourger, Weranic, Estmerish, Gaullican and native minorities.
  • Religion: Sotirianity is dominant and the state religion; indeed, Sotirianity is not only the official religion of the country, but permeates throughout all it's government. The Church of Christ Undivided is the state church, and it is difficult to distinguish where the church ends and government begins; the head of state for example is also defender of the faith and leader of the church. Additionally many laws are theonomicly drawn from Sotirianity.
  • Languages: Hennish and Vreden are the dual official languages of the country, and combined form a majority in terms of most commonly spoken first languages. Native languages are mostly considered dead, and are rarely spoken for fear of persecution. Kesselbourgish, Weranian, Estmerish and Gaullican are other minor languages. Uniquely, many denizens of the country who speak Weranic languages utilize the constructed Golathinic alphabet, which is the holy script.
Government Type: Federal theonomic guided democracy under a semi-constitutional monarchy
Head of State: Clemens III, Prince of the Church

Culture: (A brief summation of the nation's culture, language, and so forth. If it has a real-world equivalent or inspiration, be sure to list it here.)
  • Ethnicity: Ethnic makeup of Asafiyah |
  • Religion: Percentage of followers by religion | The birthplace of the three major Abrahamic religions, Asafiyah is dominated by these ancient faiths, its history having been forged by them. Asafiyah houses the spiritual capital of these religions, Adunis, which serves as a sacred city to the billions who follow them. As such none of the faiths maintain majorities within the country. 45% of the population practices Salamism, which is then further broken down by sects. The majority sect, Shima Salamism, is practised by 22% of the population. Shima is followed by Shia Salamism, at 15%, and then concluded with Alewak Salamism, at 8%. Salamism is followed by Atudaism, practised by 31% of the population. Sotirianity is the smallest religion at 18%. Broken down by sect Sotirian Catholicism stands at 12% and Bogomilism at 5%, and Pelagianism at 1%. Mazdaism is followed by 3% of the population, found mainly in the southern part of the country. The final 3% consists of smaller sects and tribal religions found in the eastern desert.
  • Languages: Under the Constitution of Confederation the official languages in Asafiyah are Atudaism (Hebrew), Badawiyan (Arabic), and Colonial Language?
Government Type: Confederal parliamentary republic
Head of State: President Adel Salim Karimi
Head of Government: Premier Yitzhak Aharon Navon
National Overview:
Politics: The Free Confederacy of Asafiyah is a confederation of (X) semi-autonomous states united under the Constitution of the Confederation in the aftermath of the Asafiyahan Civil War in 1968. Under the constitution Asafiyah's constituent member states are semi-autonomous and are, for the most part, free to govern themselves without the intervention of the Confederate Council. Each member state is governed by a First Minister, who is generally the leader of the largest party in that state's regional parliament. They act as the executive within their respective state, and as a representative of said state in the Confederate Council. The Confederate Council is the national governing apparatus of Asafiyah, not unlike the Federal Government of the United States, albeit far weaker and decentralized. It is composed of the President, the Premier, the Speaker of the National Confederate Congress (the national legislature), and the Chairman of the Confederate Council, who acts as a "speaker" of sorts, mediating and managing the general business of day to day affairs. The Council is responsible for the enforcement of laws, the management of the military, and the handling of diplomatic affairs.

The national legislature of Asafiyah is the National Confederate Congress, a unicameral body consisting of (X) members. The NCC is responsible for the passage of legislation, the ratification of treaties, the collection of taxes, and the general governance of the country. The NCC is lead by the Premier, who is generally the head of the largest party or coalition of parties. Members of the NCC are elected using Party-list proportional representation under the D'Hondt method. The politically minded populace takes full advantage of this, there being 11 parties currently holding seats as of the 2015 NCC election.

History:

Social views:
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: Asafiyahan views on homosexuals and their rights are generally mixed and vary from state to state. While homosexuality isn't illegal, it is frowned upon in the more socially conservative states, most of which have made same-sex marriage illegal. As of 2017 only two states have legalized same-sex marriage, however it is still illegal for same-sex couples to adopt or have a child via a surrogate.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: The diversity found in Asafiyah in regards to religion has fostered a secular approach by the government and indeed by the majority of the populace at large, with some exceptions. Respect and appreciation for the other faiths found in Asafiyah has become the new social norm. This hasn't prevented sectarian violence and clashes between more conservative minded religious forces. Despite attempts to move towards a completely secular society the influences of the three major faiths still permeate many aspects of Asafiyahan culture.
  • General population's view on atheism: As a near non-existent minority, Atheists and Atheism itself are often viewed in a negative light. While there is no official legislation regarding the status of atheists, and while they are protected under the constitution, atheism is very much a social taboo.
  • General population's view on abortion: Abortion is more or less viewed extremely negatively in nearly all of Asafiyah. While not being universally condemned, it is officially illegal nationally and within every state, a result of the negative stigmas that follow this heavily controversial topic.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): As with religion, the diversity of ethnicities has prompted a cosmopolitan by the government, which actively promotes multiculturalism. Atudites and Badawiyans live, for the most, in relative peace. Of course as with religion, Asafiyahans are no stranger to conflict, which is usually ethnically or religiously motivated. Integrations efforts of the last few decades have seen real progress, but there is still much work to do in bringing Atudites and Badawiyans together, a task that is in no way helped by the presence of numerous ethnic tribes and Euclean ex-colonials.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: Outside of the largest metros Asafiyahans tend to view Eucleans, Asterians, and other Coians in a negative light. Imperialist stereotypes of these peoples are extremely common, and Asafiyahans tend to stay to their own and remain protective of their local societies.
  • View on immigration into country: Immigration is a very controversial topic within the social circles of Asafiyah. The populace at large is guarded concerning their culture and history, and are reluctant to take on too many immigrants. They are also rather reluctant to take immigrants from societies that don't meld too well with their own. This has fostered an anti-immigrant attitude throughout most of the country, which diligently guards it borders.
  • Women's Rights: Within Asafiyah there is a large split regarding Women's rights and their place in society, a split that is generally along religious and ethnic lines. Atudite and Sotirian majority states tend to have more liberal views regarding women, passing legislation that prohibits discrimination based on gender in employment and wages, and provides for class action suits; nonetheless, there are complaints of significant wage disparities between men and women. Women and men are given equal access to diagnostic services and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases. Women are also starting to see greater representation in STEM fields and politics. It is a different story in Salamic majority states, where men are still the dominant members of the economy and society at large. Most Salamic women are required to wear traditional Salamic garb, as is custom. They are under represented in the education system. Women in most states are disadvantaged in regards to marriage and divorce laws.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs:
Drug usage in Asafiyah varies greatly from state to state and most of the laws pertaining to the production, sale, and usage of these products is based on the variety of religious practices found throughout the nation. Salamic majority states tend have a complete ban on the production, sale, and usage of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs such as cannabis and LSD. Atudite majority states tend to share these laws, although they are far more lax when it concerns alcohol and tobacco.

National information
Official Name: The United Federation of Akalia | Tin Yedduklen Lεeṛc n Talaket
Shortened Name: Akalia | Talaket
Requested Location:
Image

RP Population: 34 Million
Culture: Mainstream Akalian culture closely resembles the culture of IRL Pre-Islamic Berbers, despite many belonging to the Tidist faith which has its roots in Salamism, the nation was never successfully culturally converted to resemble Badiwayan culture. The culture fosters a sense of self-preservation, independence and community self rule which embodies itself in society through Agrarianist Idealism and Regionalism. However, this has begun to change, especially in coastal areas and major cities which have seen cultural influences from a former colonizer continue to inspire the urban Akalians to continue a path of modernization. This has gradually trickled into the countryside, but beyond the coastal regions, this cultural shift is still underway and has created a cultural divide.
  • Ethnicity: The most common ethnicity in Akalia, Akalian, is derived from the Tarift, Tamazight, and Tashelhiyt Berber peoples of Western Maghreb IRL, with a notable minority being the mostly Nomadic Ijdi peoples whom are derived from the Berber Tuaregs. In addition to this there is a minority of Tisent people whom reside in the northern islands, though there has been some mixing between this population and the mainland, the Tisent people who originated overseas before invading the isles in the 600s are a distinct ethnic group.
  • Religion: Just as the culture and ethnicities within Akalia are diverse, so too are religious differences. In the Salt Isles Sortirian Catholicism is the major religion, along the coasts and stretching into the central mountain range a unique religion known as Tideism with its roots in the Old Faith, Salam, and Atudaism arose from a revolt against the Salamic government that controlled the area in 751, in Ijdi areas the Salamic faith persists as the most common, and in the south west tip of the country a minority of Heqantic Mazdaists exists dating back to an old trading city in the region that has since been abandoned.
  • Languages: Standardized Akalian is the official national language, as of 1992 the Tisentic language is recognized by the Commonwealth of the Salt Isles.
Government Type: The United Federation of Akalia is a Federation of states which have varying levels of autonomy due to cultural and religious divisions. The Nation's central authority is the Federal Congress of Akalian Commonwealths, which functions as a unicameral parliament and elects a Federal President every six years. The Government also has an independent Judiciary appointed by the Federal President known as the High Court. Though no longer holding any official power, the old monarchy still holds traditional status as the head of state.
Head of State: Queen Safiyya Sumantia
Head of Government: Federal President Izim Aitbrahim
National Overview: Tying into the Agrarianist/Modernist divide, Politics in Akalia center on the balance between opening the nation to foreign investment and adopting foreign national concepts, and preserving the decentralized, regionalist, and traditionalist past of the nation.

    Social views:
    • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: Gay Rights are protected by most commonwealth governments in Akalia except in the Ijdi Majority province of Sibus where it is illegal to enter a gay marriage or Civil Union and where people are even persecuted by the more conservative locals. Additionally, where it is legal the legality varies in regards to adoption rights, and while half of the commonwealths allow for Civil Unions, only the Salt Isles have legalized Gay Marriage.
    • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Secularism is ingrained into the country, both from its time as a colonial subject, and before that as the Monarchy had promoted the freedom of religion in order to maintain internal stability.
    • General population's view on atheism: Atheism is protected by the national Constitution which protects all faiths including a lack thereof. That said in more conservative Ijdi areas Atheism is considered taboo and unacceptable.
    • General population's view on abortion: Abortion is generally frowned upon, despite it being legal for the sake of preventing black market abortions. However, only hospitals in major cities perform such abortions, and doctors are allowed to refuse to give an abortion due to personal religious beliefs. Furthermore in most commonwealths it is illegal for an abortion to occur after six and a half weeks of pregnancy.
    • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): The government has denied the existence of race since a 1998 study on the matter by the early post-colonial government concluded that race not only doesn't exist biologically, but is not reliable nor necessary in further censuses, since then race has been taught in school as a pseudoscience intended to artificially divide people. From the government's perspective, being so diverse requires such measures to ensure social cohesion, for individuals race tends not to be a regular focus in daily life.
    • Any big prejudices in your nation: A commonplace prejudice among the older generation is a distaste for the more common sects of Salamism which dates back to the 751 Akalian Revolt which when followed by a series of subsequent rebellions eventually forced out Salamic government and brought elements of the old faith while making Salamism and Atudaism syncretic faiths. While this long held bitterness has remained in many rural areas, it is less common among younger, urban people.
    • View on immigration into country: Immigration is not much of a subject of attention, and while there are yearly quotas, those are only in place to prevent the immigration rate from overwhelming government authorities. To help ensure the quality of immigrants is not detrimental to the nation, priority is given to skilled professionals as slots fill and the quota closes in. Special exceptions are given to those seeking asylum and refugees. Additionally, anyone who has a felony on their criminal record is not permitted to immigrate to Akalia.
    • Women's Rights: Women have the right to vote in all commonwealths of Akalia, and women's property rights have existed dating back in law to the pre-Solarian Era when Akalia was a collection of tribes.
    • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Tobacco and Marijuana are legal nationwide, and Alcohol is legal in all commonwealths except for the Commonwealth of Sibus.

    Other:
    • Factbook: I will launch an iiWiki page upon acceptance.
    • RP Preferences: All

National information
Official Name: The Kingdom of Werania (Koenigreik Weranien)
Shortened Name: Werania
Requested Location: as the document says
RP Population: ca. 80 million, probably lower
Culture: Werania shares close cultural and historic ties with its neighbours Vredlandia, Estmere, and Weiderland- and more distantly so with Gaullica and Cheospetia. Historically a fairly progressive country, Werania is known for a number of influent philosophers and authors, gaining it the title 'das Land der Schreiber und Weiser'- at least, among its Weranic-speaking neighbours. It is also well known for its folk traditions, including the world-famous Herbstfest in October and its Sotirmas customs, which include Sotirmas trees, Advent wreaths, and Sotirmas pageants, and the myth of Saint Nicholas of Tingis as a giver of gifts, also known as Sint-Niklaas or Santa Claus. Among other enduring contributions to global culture is a long tradition of classical composers, and the stories of Hans Sotiraan Andersohn, who collated a number of fairy tales and original composition in the classic Andersohn's Fables.
  • Ethnicity: By far the largest ethnicity in Werania is ethnically Weranian, making up about 88% of the nation's population. Large diasporas of non-naturalised residents originate from Denikert (7%), Ostroszka (2%), and Wazovia (2%), with remaining residents mostly consisting of citizen of other EC countries, as well as of Vredlandia and Weiderland.
  • Religion: Measuring religious adherence in Werania is made difficult by the syncretic adaptation of Weranian Paganism into the country's varieties of Amendism, as well as the local Catholic Church of Sotiras historically. About 12% of the population remains strictly Solarian Catholic, with 26% ascribing to Amendism- another 30% consider themselves Amendist Pagans. The country's Den minority is almost entirely Mazdaist, and the remaining 19%, 5%, and 1% consider themselves irreligious, wholly Pagan, and something else entirely, respectively.
Of the countries Amendist denominations, the Weranland Maurician Church is the largest, accounting for fully 40% of the nation's population- about half of which are Amendist Pagans congregating with the state church. The Maurician Church rather uniquely allows for a degree of free interpretation of scripture unheard of among other denominations, and has a rich history of theological debate- as a result, it can better be seen as an umbrella religious organisation instead of a singular faith.
  • Languages: Werania's principal language of state, business, and instruction is Weranian- specifically, Standard Weranian, a Northern dialect of the Weranian language family that was instuted as the national language before the Great War. As part of Euclean Community agreements on the matter, as well as local political initiatives, the Weranian government is committed to protecting local languages, like the Weranian dialect of Estmerish (Estmersk) and Cheospetian dialects in the West of the country. In practise, however, this is poorly implemented, more due to a failure of local initiatives than as a result of deliberate policy- preserving native dialects is a low priority for the Weranian government, and before and after the Great War the country in fact actively encouraged 'Weraniasation' in the relevant territories.
Government Type: Multi-party parliamentary democracy. Also, a constitutional monarchy.
Head of State: Her Majesty, Queen of Weranians & Duchess of Weranland, Maria Vauxemme III
Head of Government: His Excellency the Royal Chancellor, Josef Bernardsohn
National Overview: Werania is mostly defined by the end of pillarization- the voluntary division of society into various strata along religious and political lines- after the conclusion of the Great War. Its membership in the Democratic Alliance helped crystallise its position as a force for democracy on the world stage, and it has kept up the pace of democratisation domestically, introducing a new constitution in 1946 which allowed for the general franchise from age 20 onward. As of 1968, the state introduced compulsory voting and lowered the franchise to age 18, a state of affairs that continues to date. Operating a parliamentary democracy with proportional representation means that Werania almost never has a majority government; instead, the state is governed by broad coalitions formed between parties after parliamentary elections, which means that extreme swings in national policy are unheard of, for better or worse.
Outwardly, Werania is a strong supporter of the Euclean Community. The government (unofficially) considers its priorities in order to be economic growth, combating climate change, and securing the future of the EC- to this end, it is a strong supporter of further Vredlandian and Weiderlandian inclusion into the Community, despite opposition domestically. The country considers itself a peacebroker, and tries to use mainly soft power to promote stability in Coius and Bahia- the country's military power projection is largely limited to Euclea, where it considers Western Euclean states to be its principle threat. Although all of Werania's neighbours are fairly openly considered close allies, the country still operates a comparatively large conventional army- conscription was only scrapped in the mid-1990s. The country operates a limited nuclear deterrent with three nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarines and air-launched weapons to boot- a significant reduction of its earlier arsenal, in the 1970s, which was around twice the current size. Werania has pledged to a no-first-strike policy, and both officially and unofficially considers military force an extreme last resort.

Social views:
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: The general public is accepting of homosexuals and same-sex relationships; support for civil partnerships, which the state has already implemented on a national level, hovers around the 80% mark. Gay marriage is a much more contentious issue- although polls suggest public support is over 50%, major parties in Parliament continue to oppose it on ideological grounds for various reasons. As a result, same-sex marriage remains a legal impossibility, although the authorities recognise same-sex marriages conducted in other EC countries between non-citizens by a policy of tolerance.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: State policies of religious plurality in place since the end of the Great War have resulted in a high degree of acceptance between the country's Amendist, Pagan, and Catholic populations- other religions, particularly Mazdaism, are viewed with suspicion by the general public, but all recognised religions have official protection from discrimination and are granted certain tax exemptions under Weranian law, although adherents of minor sects occasionally complain that getting a religious authority recognised is more difficult than it should be. Officially recognised religions include Amendism, Weranian Paganism, Solarian Catholicism, Mazdaism, Salam, and Satyism. The State Church is the Weranland Maurician Church, at the head of which is the reigning monarch of Werania, but its official duties are mostly limited to the coronation and various public functions, and it operates largely independently of the state.
  • General population's view on atheism: Atheism and irreligiousity is thoroughly tolerated in the public sphere. Although frowned upon in rural communities, urban centers rank among the lowest worldwide for church attendance, and many of the country's politicians openly profess to not being religious. The state does not provide special benefits for non-religious persons, but marriages must be conducted by the state to be recognised and discrimination is not tolerated, and as a result there are few advantages at the personal level to being religious.
  • General population's view on abortion: Abortion is a low-priority issue for the general public, frowned upon in rural areas and tolerated in more cosmopolitan and urban ones. Legally, they are allowed in the first trimester or in a broad sweep of medical circumstances, with liberal parties in government pushing to lower the limits on abortion. The country's ethnic minorities often have more issues with it than the general populace, but social services see it as a useful tool to avoid impoverishment, and overall pregnancy is seen as too much of a private affair to inquire too dearly into why someone would want to end it.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Ethnicity is not a hot-button issue in Werania- the country's public institutions have regulations against discrimination. There are elements of society that would rather see people be Weranian than otherwise, but this tends to come down to a matter of cultural values and language moreso than physical appearance- the latter is used more as an identifying symbol of ethnicity than a reason for exclusion in and of itself.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: Stereotypes exist for the country's Den minority, as well as characteristic stereotypes for most neighbouring countries, including Glytter. Prejudices certainly do exist, but are not tolerated in the public sphere- Western Eucleans are characterised as filthy, Coians are characterised as lazy, and Vredlandians are often considered excessively uptight. These ideas are known to cause issues, but are almost universally condemned outside of fringe groups and comedians.
  • View on immigration into country: Immigration is viewed rather warily- negative connotations exist around Coian and Western Euclean immigrants in particular. In recent years, as integration continues to take root and the country's significant Den minority continues to become more and more Weranised, the public view of them as a group has become less and less polarised, but this cannot be said of immigration from other countries- pretty much just Eastern Euclean immigrants are viewed with universal acceptance.
  • Women's Rights: Women's rights are a non-issue in the public eye in Werania; the country has operated equal franchise for both sexes since 1946, equality is assured on legal and political grounds. While there are some issues in terms of equality for women in the nation, the country has gone so far as to allow universal military service since 2008; there are two political parties opposed to further egalitarianism, neither of which has been in government since 1867, as the former is highly unpopular, and the latter was only formed in 1970.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: The country's drug laws are highly tolerant- 'soft' drugs, classified more by public perception than by actual effects, such as alcohol, tobacco, and cannabis, are largely legal (although highly taxed.) 'Hard' drugs, such as heroin, cocaine, and other substances are prohibited, but punishments are generally restricted to fines or community service, and a strong emphasis is based on rehabilitation.

National information
Official Name: Kebabatic Cooperative Union / Kebahati Congregative Union
Shortened Name: Kebabatian
Requested Location:
RP Population: 67,324,543
Culture: Kebabatic society has shifted considerably since the Cooperativism/Functionalist revolution of the 19th/20th century. Today, Kebabatic culture is defined by its adherence towards modernity/modernism, scientism, utilitarianism and progressivism. Aesthetic culture points towards a modernist-traditionalist style, while eschewing traditional social mores. Despite all this, the Kebabati's traditional propensity towards the ocean and seafaring has never wavered, especially with the rural peoples.

  • Ethnicity: The Hallagic peoples have been the predominant ethnolinguistic group in the country, though recent immigration has added populations from Coius, Bahia, Asteria and Badawiya.
  • Religion: Traditional Bahian religions have been a prevasive element both in the pre- and post-
revolutionary society. However, irreligion is a growing tendency due to promotion by the government.
  • Languages: The Kebabati language (a Philippine language) is the official national language of the state. Federal commonwealths have their own languages used alongside it. The second most spoken language is Kaung.
Government Type: Directorial Technocratic Republic on the national level, Directorial Technocratic Epistocracy on the federal, "informed" Direct Democracy in the local.
Head of State: The Executive is helmed by a 22-member Directive Council (Directive Magistracy?), where the position of Chairman (more like a "primus inter pares" position more than anything else) is rotated or chosen every election of it.
Head of Government: ditto
National Overview: Since the Cooperativism revolution, Kebabatian's whole being has changed into one that's alien even to their Althiran comrades. A creation of a utilitarian, scientistic technocracy which has streamlined society into an open canvas, Kebabatian has developed over time into a technologically advanced society defined by the synthesis of individual-collective identity, progressivism, equality, negative liberty and "rationalism", with high respect for human rights and common decency. This is the Kebabatian that both citizens and outsiders recognize.

However, the deeper realities are quite different. Kebabatian at its deepest core is an experiment in social engineering. Decades and centuries of such are done in secret, quietly controlling dissent and unpersoning potential underminers of the system (which includes anyone with a propensity for anything contrary to the current society, i.e. conservatives) through a series of subliminal PR work and an extensively coordinated intelligence system.

Social views: Modernist, cosmopolitan, egalitarian and anti-traditional (refers more towards the old oppressive social relations that serve in contrast to Kebabati society).
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: Full rights and liberties.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: They don't really mind
  • General population's view on atheism: Not minded. It's actually growing.
  • General population's view on abortion: While legal, it's commonly seen as more valid at the periods before the fetus becomes an actual baby with a complete brain.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Generally open, but has this emotional allergy against generally conservative societies.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation See above.
  • View on immigration into country: Big on it, so long as they adjust.
  • Women's Rights: Egalitarianism is a thing.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs:
Recreational stimulants are quite popular though moderation is emphasized, due to pollution and social cohesion concerns.

Other:
  • Factbook: Still in Sandbox phase.
  • RP Preferences: I don't do wars generally unless I really feel like being stupid and shitfaced. There's too much pressure to reply on time.
  • RP Samples: My best one yet.
  • Primary/Other NS Nations: Min in esquarium, Partania in overon, Kontinovad in somewhere.

National information
Official Name: Nordane League (of Freely Associated Communes)
Shortened Name: Norday or “the League”
Requested Location: The island that “coincidentally” looks like Iceland (next to “Althirian Union”)
RP Population: Whatever would be deemed appropriate by the region for an island nation that far north to have.
Culture: The cultural aspects of Norday is probably the least fleshed out part of it, simply because by not being a stereotypical NS matriarchy, I’m not sure what sort of issues would develop in such a society aside from omnipresent gender issues. The matriarchal nature of Norday, alongside operating under a Libertarian-Marxist ideology (multiple successive generations of people living in such a society notwithstanding), would create a borderline constantly “WIP” culture that will probably never get fleshed out and explained in a fashion that I would see as “good.”
  • Ethnicity: Peoples analogous to North Germanic ethnicities, immigration from mainland Euclea has given rise to sizeable ethnic minorities of (whoever wants to have them lol)
  • Religion: The majority of the population is irreligious, however sizable minorities of pagans, Christians, etc are also present as the Commune never experienced a State-enforced Atheism period common in virtually every communist state IRL.
  • Languages: Nordane (a North Germanic “constructed language” in a middle ground between Old Norse and Bokmål Norwegian) is the national language. Althirian is also used in some of the coastal autonomous communities and free cities.
Government Type: Constitutionally Libertarian-Marxist state operating through a Directorial Confederacy of voluntarily associated communities
Head of State: Chairwoman (of the League Directorate) Lý Taalle
Head of Government: Same as above
National Overview: Norday is a constitutionally Libertarian-Marxist polity consisted of voluntarily associated autonomous communities. While the cooperativist revolution did indeed spread to Norday, it instead manifested itself as an anarcho-syndicalist, quasi-Luxemburgist ideology. The bloodless revolution in the early 20th century produced a devolved, anarchic society based on self-sustaining communes ranging in size from small hamlets to entire cities. Necessity (perhaps the outbreak of the Great War?) caused the communes to band together, with each directly ratifying the New Social Contract, thus forming the Nordane League of Freely Associated Communities.
Social views: Modernist, cosmopolitan, progressivist
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: Full rights and liberties
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Indifference
  • General population's view on atheism: Again, indifference. Religion is considered an inalienable right, and as such, others try to not to concern themselves with the religion of a person.
  • General population's view on abortion: Legal and no social stigma attached due to the (still) matriarchal-oriented culture
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Indifference.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation Traditionalists (i.e conservatives) and Totalists (authoritarians) faction members are viewed upon unfavourably. Traditionalists due to the perceived stigma of holding back progress (of the revolution), and Totalists for advocating a a stronger, larger government and subsequent greater state control and intervention in traditional commune matters.
  • View on immigration into country: Encouraged.
  • Women's Rights: Take a wild guess.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Decriminalised drug laws, with recreational usage of marijuana and other “soft” drugs.

Other:
  • Factbook: This app is more or less a spur of the moment thing but IIwiki page will be made pronto
  • RP Preferences: I can do pretty much anything
  • RP Samples: There should be an acceptable post in here somewhere
  • Primary/Other NS Nations: -Alemannia- (Esquarium)
  • Any troubles with moderation? (If so, a link, please.): N/A
  • Anything else?: Original idea, pls do not sue, Kakle

National information
Official Name: Gothaunian Republic (República Gotalana)
Shortened Name: Gothaunia
Requested Location: South of Gaullica, something along those hastily-drawn lines
RP Population: ~55 million
Culture: Gothalania is a land of many cultures and people, owing to its position on the Solarian Sea and at the edge of Euclea.
  • Ethnicity: While a slight majority of the population is descended from the Gallo-Solarian population harking back to the day of the Empire, and which could further be expanded in smaller groups if needs be, there exists sizeable minorities all around the country. Centred on the southern coast, people with significant Badawiyan admixture are numerous thanks to continued contact. Historical Atudites communities can be found all around the country, still thriving today. The indigenous, unassimilated Tenic population still survives in the mountain to the north. Finally, the once-conquerors of Weranian origin retain their distinct characteristics, mostly scattered along the significant routes of old times.
  • Religion: Strictly speaking, the dominant religion in Solarian Catholicism and also the most geographically widespread. Catholicism isn't the only Sotirian church present, with Protestantism having strongholds all around the country and a small Episimialist community surviving up to this day. Salam and Atudism remain the main religions for their related communities. Slightly over a half of the population considered irreligious
  • Languages: The official language of the state is Catalan, a status confirmed by its overwhelming use in interlinguistic contexts. The Republic has steadfastly maintained a policy of safeguarding local dialects and languages, leading to widespread diglossia. An approximate list of languages spoken in the country, without delving into dialects and with their RL name for clarity's sake: Catalan, Occitan, Arpitan, Piedmontese, Ligurian, Lombard, Emilian-Romagnol, Romansh, Judaeo-Romance, Mozarabic, Arabic, Iberian Celtic and Iberian Gothic (both constructed languages)
Government Type: Unitary parliamentary directorial republic
Head of State: Republican Directorate - President Margarida Roviralta
Head of Government: Republican Directorate - All 9 members
National Overview: Part of the Solarian Empire, conquered by migrating Weranian tribes first then by the Salamic Caliphate later. Push back the latter, starts a gradual process of unification, might even flex its power overseas if the opportunity arise. From the 18th century onwards republican and leftist ideologies started gaining traction, ultimately leading to instability and repeated changes from republican to monarchical systems of governance and the opposite. Fascism, notably National Functionalism, grew in popularity starting from the eve of the 19th century.

Near the beginning of the Great War, Gothaunia was invaded by Gaullica, prompting the king Lluís Felip III to appoint a National Functionalist Pro-Gaullican government, which quickly signed peace with Gaullica and joined its side in the war. As the tide was turning, with Gothaunia having lost aerial and naval supremacy and enemy troops having finally succeeded in establishing a beachhead (although at a cost), Lluís Felip III removed, with popular backing of a war-weary population, the government and negotiated a capitulation in which Gothaunia would retain its territorial integrity and overall political organisation, at the cost of several more conceding terms in other fields.

Despite having fought on the aggressor side of the Entente for most of the war, it managed to survive its end mostly unscathed - or so it would seem. Despite the successful last-minute attempt to save the country, the initial appointment of a National Functionalist government has not been forgotten by the people, whose confidence in the monarchy was greatly shaken. With the National Question, the longing for independence or autonomy of the various ethnic groups of the country, brought to the forefront by the end of war, judged unconvincing by nationalists groups who in the war saw an opportunity, combined with continued economic troubles, stemming from the reparation payments and the occupation of parts of the country as agreed to in the treaty, saying that the post-war political climate was volatile would be an understatement.

Almost two years after the end of the war, the monarchy was disestablished amidst riots and strikes following a military coup in 1937, marking the beginning of the Sixth Republic. Despite overwhelming support following its establishment, the country soon returned to its earlier problems, leading to another wave of instability. While popular fronts of leftists and centrists held power for the entire duration of the Sixth Republic, the right-wing elements of society, still bitter about the earlier removal of the monarchy, gradually consolidated as a group capable to challenge the status quo. Shortly before the 1947 election, which the right-wing, including far-rights elements, had a serious chance of winning, the left-leaning General Guillem Adimari seized control of the country, allegedly invited by the government ahead of the election.

Immediately starting repressing groups judged "hostile to the values of the revolution of 1937", his regime evolved into a left-leaning authoritarian military dictatorship, presenting itself to the people as the saviour of the Republic's values. After 34 years of rule, the dictatorship finally relatively peacefully disbanded in 1981, with a transition to democracy marking the beginning of the Seventh Republic. Since then, it has remained a stable democracy, politically somewhat more to the left than most countries as a legacy of the dictatorship. It has joined the Euclean Community at some point too.

Social views:
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: Same-sex marriage is allowed and the general population is accepting of homosexuality.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Historically a land of different faiths and religious tolerance, Gothaunia continues this tradition up to this day.
  • General population's view on atheism: Atheism was heavily promoted by the military dictatorship and is widely accepted today.
  • General population's view on abortion: Abortion is available on request and accepted by the general population.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Racial prejudice is heavily frowned upon as fundamentally un-Gothaunian.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation The dictatorship's legacy include a heavy prejudice against far-right ideologies and overly religious people.
  • View on immigration into country: Gothaunia is seen as a stable yet fragile collection of ethnic and religious groups, and the general view on immigration is a cautious one.
  • Women's Rights: While there is still progress to be made, the equality between the sexes is considered very good and sexism is frowned upon as reactionary.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Decriminalisation, and legalisation of soft drugs. While overall drugs are considered socially acceptable, prejudice against drug-users is prevalent in certain areas.

Other:
  • Factbook: Nothing yet.
  • RP Preferences: Pretty much anything will do.
  • RP Samples: Two posts from the same thread here and here and a newspost example there.
  • Primary/Other NS Nations: Sjalhaven
  • Any troubles with moderation? (If so, a link, please.): Negative.
  • Anything else?: The samples' sure ain't stellar but I can do better if given the opportunity.

National information
Official Name: Vandrian Social Republic (Vändria Sotsialistlik Vabariik)
Shortened Name: Vandria (Vändra)
Requested Location: The island north of Werania and west of Glytter
RP Population: 34 million
Culture: Traditional Vandrian culture was heavily tied to the "village" lifestyle, centered around a church or in more densely populated areas the seat of a noble who owned the land. Industrialization compounded by the December Revolution (working name) in 1915 had a profound impact on the culture of Vandria. Life shifted to the nation's few urban centers and emphasis was placed on education, rationalism, and modernism as the center of most communities shifted away from the church and the now dethroned nobles. This drastic change created an early rift in the nation between the more urban minded revolutionaries and members of agrarian / pastoral factions in the nation's legislature. Compromise eased the divisive rift between the two factions however it is still perceived as a rather large cultural divide by the nation's population.
  • Ethnicity: Vandrians (Estonians) are the primary ethnic group with a small minority of Kihnu (Sami) people in the north
  • Religion: Catholicism was the dominant religion up until the late 1500s when Presbyterianism took root, and later forms of Quakerism. The prominence of organized religion diminished greatly following the revolution. Most communities maintained small unorganized congregations, others held onto the more democratic doctrines of Quakerism. In the 70s a renewed interest in pre-Christian Vandrian history sparked a "pagan revival" movement that, while a small minority, had an impact on the nation's religious culture. Vandria being a secular nation also is home to a number of religious minorities from all corners of the world.
  • Languages: Vandri is the the de-factor official language of the Republic. Kihnui is recognized as a regional language.
Government Type: A multi-tendency republic in the vein of cooperativism. Drawing influences from Luxemburgism primarily with some influence from Council Communism.
Head of State: President Alvar Kallaste
Head of Government: Chancellor Silvia Vaino
National Overview: (A brief summary of your nation's general political ideology and society.)

The modern state of Vandria, as it is known today, was formed following the December Revolution (1915-1918) which deposed the monarchy which had ruled the nation since the 1200s. The Social Republic was established under a system of radical leftism, known as cooperativism. Ideological adjustments were made in consideration to Vandria's unique issues, primarily the large divide between the educated urban population and the largely disenfranchised rural population. The first convention in 1918 saw the organization of a number of major factions (such as the Communalists, Agrarians, Centralists, and Radicals) which would become major political organizations in the nation's history.

Today the political system of Vandria is largely the same as it was in 1918, advocating a multi-tendency democratic process with an emphasis on the federal nature of the republic. Most policy making is focused on a regional, community level as opposed to a national level. This belief in democracy expands beyond the public realm and into the work place as well with a strong tradition of work place democracy and cooperative business models.

Internationally, Vandria has remained relatively uninvolved outside of trade choosing instead to remain neutral in most major foreign affairs. A period of relative isolationism existed in the few years following the revolution up until the emergence of the Great War (which Vandria was probably nominally part of in some way or another, maybe). Following the war, Vandria opened up more to the international community but forwent any serious foreign military dedications. In the 80s and 90s Vandria became more involved in the international stage, largely owed to the actions and activism of President Kaspar Vitsut, with its admittance to the EC.

Social views:
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: Homosexuality is viewed as acceptable by the majority of society, and has been roughly since the Revolution. Government legislation which legally recognized same-sex marriage initially appeared in 1919, a few years after the revolution.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Religion isn't considered to be a big issue to the general population, religion is largely considered a private matter. Most people don't have any sort of formal opinion on other religions.
  • General population's view on atheism: Atheism falls into the same category, being a private matter of faith it isn't viewed in any particular way. A handful of activists during the revolution tried to push for state atheism however the motion was defeated and the stance became gradually less popular in the 20s and 30s.
  • General population's view on abortion: Abortion is a more divisive issue and is considered to be one of the hot-button issues of Vandria. Pro-choice factions of the debate seem to currently have a slight majority over pro-choice factions however the issue still remains heavily debated both in and out of the nation's legislature.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Ethnicity isn't a particularly big issue in Vandria. Most don't really consider it in their everyday lives and is treated as non-issue in Vandrian society.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation In Vandria there has, at times and by certain groups, been a prejudice against the more agrarian components of society. This is not representative of the nation's government or society as whole, however some view people living in the nation's more rural region as backwards and uneducated. Historically there was also a prejudice against the native Kihnu people via forced relocation and seizure of their native lands however steps have been taken (since the 1950s) to mitigate the damage caused by policies of the past.
  • View on immigration into country: Immigration isn't a clear cut issue in Vandria. There are some who harbor negative sentiments about too much immigration while there are those who outright oppose immigration. There are also those who also support an open border policy. The majority of the population falls somewhere in between the extremes, leaning more towards a lax immigration policy.
  • Women's Rights: Women's are no longer viewed as a major issue in Vandria as gender equity was established legally and socially by the December Revolution. Women have been able to serve in the same capacity as men in the government and military since 1918 and are afforded all of the same rights.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs:
Tobacco, alcohol, and marijuana are all legal. More authoritarian and considerably "traditional" elements of society are opposed to their use however only a small minority actually suggest criminalizing their use. Other "harder drugs" such as cocaine and heroin are still illegal.

Other:
  • Factbook: Not yet
  • RP Preferences: Character driven diplomatic. Historical as well.
  • RP Samples: Here and Here
  • Primary/Other NS Nations: Marsane

Postby Ugomvia » Thu Nov 30, 2017 3:59 pm

National information
Official Name: The Federal Republic of Ugomvia
Shortened Name: Ugomvia
Requested Location: East if Kigomba
RP Population: 15,969,724
Culture: The most real-world equivalent would be that of modern African culture. More specifically would be that of the Bantu people. With a language that most closely resembles Swahili.
  • Ethnicity: Most outsiders to the country would just consider a citizen to be Ugomvian, however, that's just the nationality. Their isn't particularly a main ethnic group in the country as there's so many small ones. Surprisingly this dosen't create a whole lot of ethnic tension since none has ever had too big of an advantage.
  • Religion: Because of a difficult and violent past, Ugomvia as a nation has been turned into more of a atheist/secular state. Where most things spiritual in the past have simply been deem "old tradition".
  • Languages: The language of the country's former colonizer is the official and most widely used language. However, there's Ugomvi, which is considered a loose collection the similar sounding languages between the ethnic people. Most commonly used in more rural parts of the country.
Government Type: Junta, or military oligarchy
Head of State: Zane Jabari, the official president of Ugomvia. However, he's more of a public and diplomatic figure head, with little to no power.
Head of Government: Sebastien Garcia, the foreigner made military leader of the country, and is who's considered the man with the real power.
National Overview: For most of the nation's modern history, Ugomvia was a colony, but wasn't particularly influenced by much outside administration since it wasn't too valuable. But in 1983, rapid decolonization left it in an overnight scramble for independence, or so they thought. [INSERT OTHER MORE POWERFUL NATION HERE], the colonizer left a puppet dictator in charge. But with a short reign, it didn't come without consequence. In a extreme effort to "modernize" the nation was purged of most of its spiritual and traditional identity. But mysteriously the puppet dictator passed away, along with most of their family in what has been nicknamed the silent coup. After such a past this has left Ugomvia and many citizens with a sense and desire for personal, and independent freedom. A feeling of being in charge of one's self. For personal self sustainability. The name of this belief is called Utawala wa nafsi, translated as "Rule of the self". The closest equivalent would be Libertarianism. This ideology has been applied to the state as well. Oddly though in the form of a police state that has warped the ideology into more of a nationalist form. This has left the nation with civil strife against much of the citizenry as to which way this ideology should be practiced.

    Social views:
    • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: The government has no official statement, rules, or regulations regarding homosexuality. However, stories of violence against homosexuals is not uncommon. But with very little discriminatory laws, law enforcement often need to deal with such behavior.
    • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Because of the nation's past, much of the citizenry is wary of religious practice. But there's religious tolerance. Mostly for immigrants, while the government remains very secular. Believing in complete separation of church and state.
    • General population's view on atheism: The population has quite a popular view on atheism, and to many outsiders it seems like Ugomvia is an atheist state.
    • General population's view on abortion: Abortion is legal and allowed, however, for much of the population getting one is difficult do to access. As well as most people aren't interested or willing to get one. Mostly because of societal norm.
    • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Similarly to religion with the nation's past, many Ugomvians haven't had much of an ethnic identity. Do to much of the barriers being forcefully torn down.
    • Any big prejudices in your nation What are probably the two biggest prejudices in Ugomvia are between homosexuality, and ideological difference. But there is some ethnic tension in more remote areas of the country.
    • View on immigration into country: Immigration into the nation isn't very harsh at all with the government. But with the more nationalist views of citizenry there has been cases of discrimination against immigrants. With a strong desire for them to assimilate into the culture.
    • Women's Rights: Mainly do to societal norms, women's rights are pretty low, with few in the work force. Taking up mostly a role of care taker for families and communities. However, in the capital and other more urban areas. Things look much better with the treatment of women. However, this has a lot to do with the law enforcement. Where not too many laws discriminate between genders. Along with some serious treatment to toward violence against women, despite what is commonly deemed socially acceptable.
    • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs:
The nation has no rules or regulations on such substances. Not even age restrictions. However, many communities fight back against more "Hard Drugs". Trying to teach families, and mainly the youth of the harm they can bring.

    Other:
    • Factbook: https://www.nationstates.net/nation=ugo ... l=factbook
    • RP Preferences: I'm actually quite fine with any.
    • RP Samples: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=383947&start=50 and viewtopic.php?f=31&t=383281&start=5425
    • Primary/Other NS Nations: None
    • Any troubles with moderation? (If so, a link, please.): Nope
    • Anything else?:
I know I applied once before a while ago. But do to personal things I was pretty well side tracked. I hope I can once again join this region. If anything ought to be altered, please point it out.

National information
Official Name: Kingdom of Ruttland (Ryk fan Rutlân)
Shortened Name: Ruttland
Requested Location: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/252609958762381312/388097645895483392/kymap.png
RP Population: 10,792,800
Culture: A lot of this culture is based off of Flemish/Dutch culture only with more of a rural slant.
  • Ethnicity: The majority ethnic group of Ruttland are Ruttish people (West Frisians) who make up 82% of the population. 8% are Vredlandians who mainly live in border regions, whilst 10% come from other ethnic groups.
  • Religion: The dominant religion of Ruttland is Solarian Catholicism with 44.5 of the population identifying as such. The second largest group are those who profess no religion at 30.6% followed by adherents to the Vredlandian Reformed Church at 17.3%. 7.6% followed a range of other religions. Religion is strongest along the central “Bible belt”.
  • Languages: Ruttish (West Frisian) is the official language of the country. In the southern and eastern provinces Weranian and Vreden are designated as protected languages.
Government Type: Ruttland is a constitutional monarchy with a parliamentary form of governance in the Westminster tradition. The unicameral legislature is the Royal Legislative Chamber whilst the executive is the Cabinet led by a Prime Minister.
Head of State: Queen Annigjen I, reigning since 1975
Head of Government: Prime Minister Eilkje Koopmans. Has been in office since 2011 and currently leads a coalition government of the liberal conservative Modern Centre Party and social democratic Cooperative Party
National Overview:
  • Politics: For most of the 20th century, Ruttland was under a dominant party system where the National Consolidation Party, an agrarian one-nation conservative party, ruled continuously for a 45 year period before being ousted from office in 1991 by a purple coalition of the social democratic Cooperative Party and the liberal conservative Modern Centre party. Since then governments have changed regularly. Currently National Consolidation, Modern Centre and the Cooperatives are the three major parties with minor ones including the national conservative Catholic People's’ Party and ecologist Greens. Elections are typically bland with the major parties having similar policies whilst governance is technocratic and consensus driven.
  • Economy: Ruttland has a social market economy that is predominantly service based. One of the earliest countries to industrialise Ruttland has outside of coal (which is now depleted to the point of no longer being economical to exploit) no natural resources but during the 20th century developed a large steel sector as the government created a corporatist economic model. Economic decline led to the economy to be liberalised in the 1980’s as the government deregulated finance and cut the corporation tax to 10%, making Ruttland somewhat of a tax haven. Since the 1980’s the government has attempted to turn Ruttland into a science and tech hub. The main exports of Ruttland is machinery, metals, foodstuffs and technology. Ruttland’s nominal GDP per capita is $42,045 and is GDP PPP per capita is $44,231.
  • History:
-Human inhabit the area in bronze age period
-Part of various kingdoms; small city states and principalities
-Comes under the orbit of the Solarian Church
-Prince of Arnrecht unites the country into the Kingdom of Ruttland in 1337.
-Kingdom of Ruttland dissolved in 1674 after a civil war; country becomes a “republic” (the same way the Netherlands was a “republic” during the United Provinces period)
-The country is annexed by Vredlandia sometime during the 1700’s. Industrialised during this period
-During the late 1800’s Ruttland becomes independent from Vredlandia after the latter switches from the Solarian to Vredlandian Reformed Church (possibly with help from other Solarian nations).
-Flirts with authoritarian rule during the 1920’s until the regime drops it by the 1930’s. However, the nation remains under the rule of the centrist National Consolidation Party until 1991. In 1996 Ruttland joined the EC, where it promotes a pro-free trade, economic liberal but anti-federalist stance in the bloc.
Social views:
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: Despite the de-criminalisation of same-sex activity only being passed in 1987, since the early 2000’s Ruttland has become one of the more accepting nations regarding gay rights, with anti-discrimination legislation passed in 1999 and the legalisation of same-sex marriage implemented in 2014. 67% of the population support same-sex marriage. Some homophobia remains in the “Bible belt”
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Ruttland is officially a secular nation with a policy of laïcité. Generally people are indifferent to religious faith. Residual anti-Semitism, latent Islamophobia and stereotypes of Coian indigenous religions remains
  • General population's view on atheism: See above.
  • General population's view on abortion: Abortion is legal upon request. 48% of the population support the current law, 37% believe it should be limited and 15% have no opinion/undecided.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): People are on the whole indifferent to race. However there is lowkey racism in society to non-white people’s.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation No major prejudices. Historical anti-Vredlandian/anti-Reformed Church
  • View on immigration into country: Despite 8.3% of the population being made up of immigrants, 72% of Ruttish citizens believe immigration should be “drastically reduced”. Immigrants from wealthy EC states are better received than those from developing states.
  • Women's Rights: Women are considered by law to be equal citizens with strong anti-discrimination laws in place. Sexism still exists in society but is increasingly becoming fairly intolerant of such views.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Ruttland has a drinking culture mainly based around beer. Other alcohol is consumed albeit not to the same extent, with the drinking age being 17+. Tobacco used to be common but its use has been declining recently. Other forms of drugs are illegal, although the government has stated it intends to legalise soft drugs such as cannabis “sometime in the future”.

Other:
  • Factbook: None at the moment
  • RP Preferences: Character-driven and Diplomatic RPs
  • RP Samples:
"Glad to see you've made it!" I said as I stretched my arm. "It's an honor President Santorum". I bowed my head as a sign of politeness, a common greeting in Pilgrana. "Thank you Prime Minister O'Hare, but I'm a democratically elected official, not a king, I think that just a handshake is good enough". "Oh yes! Of course, my apologies! Right this way Mr. President, the Highking is waiting for you." I said. I guided him through the massive palace. The royal family were known for their extravagance prior to the Republican Revolution, which heavily weakened their absolute status after the drafting of the new constitution. Despite this, walking through the Palace gives you a glimpse of their taste. Gemstones decorated the ceiling along with gold, magnificent chandeliers and Renaissance-style paintings and carpets of exotic design and dyes covered the floor. Neo-classical status of posing nude men and women alike we spread across the massive hall and old paintings were places on the walls.

After the tour around the palace, we reached the throne room, from where the king was while chatting with several other high ranking officials. The room was filled up with leaders from across the world, who have been invited to the new G20 Summit in Pilgrana. "President Santorum! Old friend!" The king called out while rushing to sake the hand of the president. "It's been awhile old friend" he continued once her reached them. "Indeed it has! Nice to see you still know to wow an audience", the two laughed. "Ah yes, best I can do. How are things in Elurnia? I've heard several things about an attempt at you impeachment?", "Yes, several false allegations nearly cost me the job! Good thing it turned out alright in the end", "Indeed my friend, looks like the summit is about the begin, we need to get ready. Right this way"
  • Primary/Other NS Nations: All of them have CTE'd (making a comeback to NS)
  • Any troubles with moderation? (If so, a link, please.): Nope
  • Anything else?: Nope

REAPP REAPP REAPP.

National information
Official Name: Pyhävuori Cooperative Union
Shortened Name: Pyhävuoret
Requested Location: The islands at the far west. South of Althira, west of Rhakataa.
RP Population: 67,324,543
Culture: Pyhävuori society has shifted considerably since the Cooperativist revolution of the 19th/20th century. Today, Pyhävuori culture is defined by its adherence towards modernity/modernism, scientism, utilitarianism and progressivism. Aesthetic culture points towards a modernist-traditionalist style, while eschewing traditional social mores. Despite all this, the Pyhävuori's traditional propensity towards the ocean and seafaring has never wavered, especially with the rural peoples.

  • Ethnicity: The Finnic peoples have been the predominant ethnolinguistic group in the country
  • Religion: Traditional Euclean religions have been a prevasive element both in the pre- and post-revolutionary society. However, irreligion is a growing tendency due to promotion by the government.
  • Languages: The Vuori language (shitty Finnish) is the official national language of the state. Federal commonwealths have their own languages used alongside it. The second most spoken language is Althirian and Lappish.
Government Type: Directorial Technocratic Republic on the national and the federal level, "informed" Direct Democracy in the local.
Head of State: The Executive is helmed by a 22-member Directive Council (Directive Magistracy?), where the position of Chairman (more like a "primus inter pares" position more than anything else) is rotated or chosen every election of it.
Head of Government: ditto
National Overview: Since the Cooperativist revolution, Pyhävuoret's whole being has changed into one that's alien even to their Althiran comrades. A creation of a utilitarian, technocratic and cooperativist (and corporatist) republic, defined by its technological advancement, complete supplantation of old society, essentially cooperativistic economics, social justice and excellent protection of human rights. Despite its technocratic character, Pyhävuori governments institute different experiments in democracy, ranging from the typical liberal democratic form to the most direct and electronic form. Sustainable and ecological development is the law of the land. Leading advancements in design, science and technology the country sets itself apart from its neighbors and partners in the cooperativist sphere, a relentless innovator. All the trappings of a cosmopolitan utopia, however, is the thickest, most obscure façade in the world.

Pyhävuoret's survival, stability and prosperity is held at gunpoint by the upper technocracy. The current society is crested by the subtle hand of social engineering through its projects, policy and a viciously effective secret police. The government's intelligence service immediately liquidates or apprehends anyone who expresses "reactionary" or "potentially-undermining" thought in varying degrees of brutality (and secrecy). Any organizations or individuals that survive such ordeal are closely monitored and influenced by the state to obscurity. Information defined as memetic hazards or potentially dangerous to the overton window are expunged with utmost discretion. In the limelight, Pyhävuoret has gotten criticism for its paternalistic and intrusive actions amongst disenfranchised states under the guise of development. With the essentially invisible omnipotence of the Union Office of Security and Public Safety and the Union Office of State Strategy, its foreign policy might be the only thing that reaches the light of day.

  • Primary/Other NS Nations: Min in esquarium, Partania in overon.
  • Any troubles with moderation? (If so, a link, please.):
  • Anything else?: I do art requests. Expect to be queued, though.
