We use the Imperial system since that's what the Colonial Regime used until 1979 when we got independence. Didn't seem like something we needed to change.

For most purposes, we use the imperial system. However, for precise military commands, such as calling in a kinetic bombardment, or perhaps more realistically sniper fire or close air support, we use the metric system.

No. We use the Carolinian System of Weights and Measures, based somewhat on the Imperial System but improved.

We use the imperial system because we're part of the United States and honestly, I don't think people would want to get confused by the km signs and go speeding down the highway and end up in a car crash. That wouldn't be good. However for construction & scientific related jobs, we do use the metric system because it makes their jobs so much more easier.
