Economy:
The Federation of Gnobar's Economy has boomed from the old days of recovering from Civil War. In a matter of only 20 years the GDP has risen from $8,756.90 to a massive $29,871.61. But after the initial economic turn around wages have begun to finally settle around an average $25,000 GDP. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Automobile Manufacturing industry. Although both the Arms Manufacturing and Furniture Restoration sectors have done considerably well in the past years. The currency is the Gnobarian Talent.
Unemployment has also settled to an average figure of 3.11% of the available and willing working population

Geography:

Nothern Provence:
Officially known as Tanack, but more so commonly refereed to as the Fierce Land/Wastelands. It is essentially a vast open plain of rock and mountain ranges. It has only a tiny amount of life. Most notably it's rare selection of mosses.

Eastern Provinces:
Home to three counties of Irelm, Deack and Worer.

Both Irelm and Worer support much of Gnobar's agricultural needs due to its rich soil quality and vast valleys. Both counties have many villages and towns littered through out but share a common capital city of Sulfine due to its location on the border.

Deack is covered in a vast forest and supplies much of Gnobar's timber for construction. It's capital city is Belnysi.

Western Provinces:
Home to two counties of Asmest and Urnirt.

Much of Gnobar's fishing industry and shipping lies in these regions as it is Gnobar's only access to the sea. Urnirt also has a small farming community, and Asmest has a bustling mining industry with reserves of iron, copper, zinc and small amounts of gold can be found.

Asmest largest city is the port city of Queir, like wise Urnirt's largest city is also a port city called Turbel.

Southern Provinces:
Home to four counties of Gnobar, Osak, Vortkim and Sneenth

Osak is the 3rd largest region in the country only being beaten by Tanack and Irelm. It's capital city is Lorpoli, and much of Gnobar's power needs are generated here. It also has a rich source of uranium.

Vortkim has a reasonably sized forest, it also has an extensive quarry system in it's highlands which supply much of Gnobar's stone for construction. It's most notable city is Nocer, but it was mostly abandoned due to the civil war.

Sneenth is a small region that has a reputation for producing some of Gnobar's greatest minds. The university of Nyan being most note worthy.

Gnobar is a region that is home to the capital city of Gnobar. At one stage the city was small and the region had a rich farming community. But as the city grew the region was swallowed up. Now the 1,036 km2 region is almost completely covered by the sprawling city.

History:

Early(city state stage pre 1811):

Originally the land that is now the Federation of Gnobar was a loose collection of city states who had a rich trading life with one another. Each city state had vastly different government bodies, ranging from Republics, Monarchs, Oligarchs, Council, etc. It was the City of Gnobar that sparked the uniting of the cities under its rule.

Originally it stated via a trade war and causing their neighbours to submit under the Gnobar City Council's rule, as they cut off much of their supply routes. With Gnobar's expansion into the surrounding areas, military spending increased. Soon Gnobar's military forces were the best in the lands. Many weaker city states sought Gnobars aid and allied themselves under Gnobars flag for protection from larger city states.

Around 1805 a confederation of states mostly from the Western Provinces, united together and declared war on the now large Gnobar state. Key battles were the battle for Lorpoli in Osak, and Taking of Queir. The battle for Lorpoli, victory went to Gnobar and this was the beginning of the end as the Western Confederacy had thrown most of there resources into the assault. If it had succeed Gnobar would have had only one option but to sue for peace.

Queir was the final battle in the war, due to it being home to the Western Confederacy Government building. With the final defeat, Gnobar reigned supreme and finally united the provinces under one control.

Golden Age (United 1811-1890):

For almost 80 years The Council of Gnobar experienced a Golden Age of art, science, literature, and education. The lands were at peace, politics was engaged by the rich, as they became enlightened to the idea of debating. Around the 1880's new ideas began to emerge which would eventually end in a split of the provinces. 1890 the Golden Age is declared over.

1895 the Western Provinces declare independence and become the Commonwealth of Urnirt. 1903 the once united country is now split back into the provinces regions. An uneasy peace is kept until 1956, but eventually war would be trigger after a dispute between the Commonwealth of Urnirt and the Republic of Deack(Which claimed the Northern provinces also). It came about after the treaty between the regions regarding the Northern province was broken.

The treaty permitted the three nations right to test weapons in the wasteland and was to be free zone for the three nations. After The Commonwealth of Urnirt had tested it's first nuclear device in 1955, fearing the completion of it the Republic of Deack annexed the lands and ceased further testing for both Urnirt and Gnobar.

On January 7th 1956 Urnirt Armed Forces entered Tanack. After 3 days of fighting Deack's forces had retreated and the wasteland were now under Urnirt's control. Gnobar stayed out of the war at first. Publicly they didn't wish to support either side to help maintain diplomatic relations. But internally Gnobar was tired of Urnirt and Deack constant fighting. The people of Gnobar wished to reclaim there lands, many citizens of both Urnirt and Deack wished to return to Gnobar also.

November 17th 1958 Gnobar entered the war, officially beginning the civil war.

Civil War ((Unofficially 1956)1958-1965):

The vast majority of the war was fought in the trenches between the countries boarders. None of the States wished to have an open assault as to do so would cripple them. Especially after the 2 years of fighting between Urnirt and Deack. From 1958-1960 most of the war was fought via small squads deep in enemy territory and a constant battle of espionage.

It wasn't until the Nocer Incident in 1960, were Urnirt forces successfully deployed their first nuclear weapon. Urnirt forces in a blitz move quickly stormed the borders and pushed Gnobarian forces back several miles. Both Deack and Gnobar were outraged by Urnirt's move. After all they considered themselves kinsmen, but just with different ideas in government and other areas. A brief armistice between Gnobar and Deack was signed in 1960 after the Nocer Incident. Under the armistice neither nation would attack each other and focus solely on the Urnirt's force for their war crimes. The armistice was eventually followed up by a peace treaty in 1961 which saw both Gnobar and Deack unite under the same flag.

At this stage Gnobar had only just retaken its borders, this was due to an extremely bad winter and spring offensive, and also Urnirt's military technology was unrivalled. June 1962, rumours of the Nocer Incident begin to reach the people of Urnirt. They had heard of the rumours before but simply brushed it off as enemy propaganda to turn the people against the government. Another year of trench battling went on, it was finally broken on the 1st of October 1963 when the Alliance of Gnobar and Deack launched a surprise counter-offensive on of the most important days in the Gnobarian calendar.

Urnirt's forces were completely caught off guard and within 48 hours they had been pushed miles into their territory. During the next year a gruelling campaign was fought on both sides that saw a constant shift in the border lines. It wasn't until early 1965 that the rumours of the Nocer Incident were proven to be true to the people of Urnirt. Outraged at their governments decision people began to rebel, huge numbers deserted the military. Those that remained loyal were running out of time.

March 1965, a joint force of Gnobar and Deack entered the city of Asmest. The garrison were dug in deep around the government building but were suffering massive causalities. It was on the 5th day of the assault that saw them wave the white flag. It was not from the might of Gnobar or Deack, but the people of the city had in the night revolted and taken control of government building. Rioting engulfed the remaining Urnirt regions. March 17th, President Duris Kalwaro of the Commonwealth of Urnirt was gunned down by an angry partisan group. March 18th Urnirt sues for peace. March 19th talks begin. March 30th peace is declared and the terms are accepted. March 31st 1965 The Federation of Gnobar is formed.

Armed Forces of Gnobar

Branches:

All males and females from the age 18 are required to complete a 2 year military service, mostly it is just training, that is par-taken several days during the week. The individual may go to college and have several freedoms. In the event of war, all able bodied people who have completed the 2 year military service may be called upon to serve in the event of war.

A typical military service term lasts for 5 years.

Gnobarian Defence Force
Founded in 1807 during the expansionism of the city state of Gnobar. It's military trains it's soldiers in a ride range of combat situations, weaponry, artillery and how to operate a wide range of military vehicles.

Organisation
A company has 400-500 soldiers, which are organised into 10 platoons of 40-50 people. Squads comprise of on average 10 members. Members in each company are mixed with people from other regions to encourage a friendship, this is to help avoid another civil war.
