Background Information: He was born in the capital Qersi in 1956, to a merchant named Okanos Merpa. He attended Forotrin Primary School and Qersi High School, the most prestigious in the city. From 1974 he attended Khoretin College at Qersi University, pursuing a Commerce degree. He obtained his Master of Commerce in 1977. He worked at the Revenue Dept as a tax collector from 1977 to 1984, then worked in various higher level jobs at said Dept from 1984 to 1998. He was then appointed as an officer in the Foreign Affairs Dept. In 2008 he was appointed as Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Foreign Affairs, a post he held till 2012. After this he has continued working as an officer in the Dept, and also teaches Accounts at Qersi University.
