Slavery is legal in Welskerland under certain circumstances. The National Code of Ethics for Masters is a document that contains clear and explicit guidelines on how the master is to treat his slaves and the appropriate forms of punishment for mistreating his slaves. There are also guidelines for the master disciplining his slaves and what types of punishment is acceptable and what isn't. If the master cannot get the slave to submit and he has exhausted all legal and ethical options, they are taken to court, where the judges resolve it.

A person can be become a slave by:

1) As a form of punishment for a criminal carried out by the government.
2) To pay off a debt owed to another person.
3) Being born to slave parents.
4) Voluntarily agreeing to become someone's slave.

Under most circumstances, slavery is temporary and the slave becomes a free man once his term is up. This includes children born to slaves, they are free once their parents become free. The only exception to the term limit is for more extreme crimes.

There is some controversy where there is a push to abolish slavery in all its forms.

Slavery has been officially abolished about 180 Years ago. However there are a few loopholes in legislation that would theoretically allow to Slaves to be imported, but this nearly never happens as Slaves cannot be imported without license due Dushani Customs law.

Slavery is illegal in Rhodevus. Anyone caught with slaves, or caught buying, selling or shipping slaves in Rhodeve territory can be arrested and sentenced to life in prison. There is also a law known as the Slavery Decree, which states that any escaped slave which finds its way into Rhodeve territorial waters, will automatically be granted its freedom.

Demand for slaves goes for manual labour, fighting, handmaids, sex slaves, trophies and more.

Slavery is kept going via a breeding programme to ensure there is fresh stock. Any child born of a slave is also a slave. One can also voluntarily enter slavery, sell a child into slavery, be kidnapped into illegal slavery but somehow be transported into the legal system, or be captured during conquest.

Slaves have no rights and no power. It is not against the law to kill, assault, maim, rape, starve or otherwise negatively treat a slave PROVIDED it is your slave (or permission is granted). If not, the crime is against the owner, not the slave itself and they may press charges.

Individuals may own slaves; noble families often make use of menservants or handmaids in their household for menial chores and is ultimately not a terrible life provided you do well. It is considered demeaning for a man or a woman of a noble family to consort with a prostitute, let alone a slave, thus those in the ownership of a powerful house may potentially evade that fate. Life is even better if you are in service to the royal family, even better if to one of the women. Many of the Princesses enjoy having handmaidens or menservants around to aid them, whilst the Princes prefer the handmaidens. However, most slaves are unlucky enough to be sold to lesser nobles, or general members of society who may beat, rape or kill their slaves at their pleasure, purely for fun rather than a beneficial task. Girls and women, and occasionally men may find themselves sold to a brothel. Prostitute slaves are much cheaper to use and maintain than trained sexual consorts, and are mainly used to set up a business and attract poorer customers.

Most of the men may find themselves either being put on a building project or sent to fight and die in one of the many arenas. Women are sent to the arenas also, merely for fresh and entertaining sport. The practice of slavery has endured to do the Ephyral not believing other humans to be as advanced as they are. From the Romans to primitives discovering fire, all are worthy only of serving to the Ephyral. Tourism is uncommon across Ephyra for fear of kidnap and enslavement.

Slavery was introduced in 1370, with the announcement to the newly established parliament ( that has 1,000 members) under the " National Protection of Carriebean and enslavement of forginers bill" under it, any peoples that were not part of Carriebean would be enslaved, this has led to a booming slave trade known as the Golden era of slavery from 1371-1865, when the american civil war ended in confederate defeat, and a massive loss of a potential market place for slaves, instead of abolishing it, Carriebean looked to other markets, setting up the East Indian Slaving Company, The South American Slaving Company, and the Western Southern African trading company. the company rebooted the slave trade, and with government oversight, the companies flourished until 1920, with the begining of the 4th civil war and a subsequent drop in the demand of slaves due to the war torness of the nation. the slave drop caused thousands to be unemployed and for over a dozen companies to go bankrupt, the Slave trade picked back up from 1965 to 1990, when the Carriebean Revolutionary Army, the Military junta that ruled us, re-instituted slavery under all carriebeanian citizens not of carriebeanian pure blood. this meant that over 104 million of the 500 million people in our nation were slaves, and they made the nation run, working in factories, preparing the military tanks, and working in Oil and Natural gas. When the United States intervened in the 5th Carriebean Civil war (1991-2003), Carriebean quickly killed off millions of slaves in the " Great Carrriebean slavery holocaust of 2004." a total of 15 million slaves were killed in ten years of massacre, the massacre was condemned world wide, but carriebean did not suffer sanctions due to the large economy it has. Slaves are now under direct government leadership as of 2010, with camps set up to enslave them, along with 40 entire modern cities that can fit slaves, they are named numerically, with City #34 the biggest, with 12 and a half million slaves and 120,000 guards of the carriebean people's militia that guard the city to ensure none escape.

as of 2016, the Carriebean nation has 41 cities with a total of 330,500,000 slaves total. according to recent Carriebean Plans, seven more cities with capacities of 15 million people are to be constructed and finished by 2019, by that time, the slave population is expected to double to more than 660 million and the total population to 3 and a half billion.

The devout of the Chantry often atone for their sins by selling themselves into servitude to the Chantry. They usually will work for the Chantry for at least a year. About half of the people you see working around a chantry or temple will be these so-called "Relits". They mostly take the roles of Solar Guard or Harvester. The living conditions they are in are usually very simple, and they do not suffer much abuse.
Long story short, sometimes, people sell themselves into slavery so as to be cleansed of their sins through servitude.
