14 are 'regular' states, 2 of which have been given special commemoration in the constitution (the founding Brothers, as they're called), the more powerful of the five original states (3 of which have divided up, and while mentioned, are not culturally considered founding.) The largest of these is Ircas, a mighty southern state roughly the size of Mexico.


Nine special administrative subdivisions, all under the grand Division, Aklorgarianas, which claims most the land around Icono and the city itself (though the farm-areas caucus with their surrounding states, so to not be overrun in elections by the extremely populated capital. This rule applies for everything 11 miles beyond Icono city limits).

3 are military based. They are Northern institutions, where populations are extremely supported, and politics is governed by one body overseeing them. As conflict against small, nightmarish creatures (Reaters) and colonization (the order of the day for when they were uninhabited) is soon ending, the military has agreed to transition out of power in 4 years. A referendum is coming to decide if these states will form into one larger entity (Aragata) or stay divided, if not with the borders tweaked.

1 is An Island-Nation like region, Ircanas. Far away from the rest, but large and culturally Klorgian, a small neighboring nation is in talk of union as a new special division. This state has laws set in place for conflict and distorters not in the rest.

And finally, the last one is not a state, as much as a council. The Tactictioners, as they are many timers called, are a group in charge of infrastructure and politicking on untouched islands being populated by Klorgia. They have functionally different governments on all, but are technically one administrative division.

We have 12 "counties". Won't list all their names, but each one governs themselves and we regulate their laws. Sound good?

Roelandia is divided into three federal republics (also refered to as regions) which are themselves subdivided into 20 so called city-states (comparable to cantons and/or bundesländer in Germany). Plus one capital district which functions in much the same way as the city-states.

This makes for a total of 24 "states".

The Islamic Queendom is divided into thirteen districts.

30 different regional counties, with a single county reserved for the capital.

The Empire is parted in 4 Beylerbeyliks: Anatolia, Arabia, Africa and Rumelia. Within these are a multitude of ethnically and historically oriented sanjaks, each one ruled by the respective Sanjakbey who controls his local valis and emirs. Some regions are under special administration by a Pasha ensent by the sultan directly, most of them key regions or troubled areas. Jerusalem for instance is such a Pashalik as to get rid of the religious affairs and to control fanaiticism. The special region Mekka-Medina is directly controlled as well, as are key oil areas and the empires' biggest cities. As for the states: that depends on what would constitute a state. Egypt Sanjak certainly qualifies for instance, but does the Special Region of Cairo too? The Beylerbeys certainly have the highest authority and rule indeed while maintaining even their own armies. so I guess the answer is four.

The United States Of Evaropi has 14 states, 13 being contiguous, and one being in the High-North Sea.

Ungvarnfjall was originally a Unitary State, however after the War for Suomi Independence it was split into 7 Holds to keep the realm stable and to keep it working efficiently.

Dequarmi is a federation of twelve states, who came together under a federal government to protect themselves and their interests. This is embodied in the nation's motto, "Twelve states, united as one".

As already mentioned, Dequarmi has twelve states, which are semiautonomous divisions which share sovereignty with the federal govermment. They are run by State Councils, which are in turn headed by Head Councilors. These councils have control over localized affairs, such as police forces and local law. Each state gets one vote in the upper house of Parliament, the Federal Council.

Additionally, Carena is the suzerain of multiple extraterrestrial colonies. This include the Carenian Martian Authority, Martian State of Deseret, Carenian Colonization Alliance of Venus, Europa Colonization Authority, and the Coalition of Outer Belt Corporations and Scientists.

We don't have states but each island (besides 5 which are uninhabited nature preserves), have their own local governments. Making there 16 local island governments.

Seven, although it could be argued that Goverwal is itself a sub-state of Greater Goverwal, although that union has grown so weak that it extends only to defence and sports nowadays.

The Republic is organized into three variants of subdivisions, the States among them. Currently, the Republic is composed of nine states (Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, and Texas), and are joined by the Autonomous Republics and Federal Districts: Autonomous Republics, as the name suggests, are former nations in Central and South America that were annexed into the Republic in the late 2100s, excluding the Autonomous Republic of Hawai'i.

The Autonomous Republics outnumber the States, yet have less representation in the Federal Congress as a result of greater autonomy: the current Autonomous Republics are Belize, Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Hawai'i, Honduras, Mexico, Peru, and Venezuela. A notable part of the Autonomous Republics is their ability to form Autonomous Confederations, essentially trading and cultural blocs: currently, there are only two Autonomous Confederations - the Confederated Territories of Central America (El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Mexico), and the Confederated Territories of South America (Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela).

Contrasting both are the Federal Districts, the most numerous of the subdivisions, usually composed of the city the District is named after and the local subdivisions surrounding it. Federal Districts are unique as the city government is under a federal charter with the national government, rather than that of the subdivision, leading to both the States and Autonomous Republics having at least one Federal District. Federal Districts are usually formed from the city it is named after, additional cities that have signed assent in joining the District, and the surrounding local governments - while they are under Federal supervision, with Federal laws applied in full within the Districts, all Districts have higher representation in the Federal Congress. Currently, there are twenty-six Federal Districts, with the State of Texas uniquely having three Federal Districts in its borders: the list of Federal Districts are Albuquerque, Atlanta, Arlington (additionally serving as the Capital District of the Republic), Austin, Baton Rouge, Belize City, Belmopan, Birmingham, Bogotá, D.C. (Distrito Capital), Santiago de León de Caracas, Ciudad de Guatemala, Santiago de Guayaquil, Houston, Honolulu, Jackson, Jacksonville, Lima, Mexico D.F. (Distrito Federal), Montgomery, New Orleans, Phoenix, San Francisco de Quito, San Salvador, Santa Fe, Tallahassee, and Tegucigalpa, M.D.C. (Municipio del Distrito Federal).

Dahyan is subdivided into 22 governorates, each headed by a Governor who is appointed by the central government.

While not technically states, the USSR is divided into 4 city-states (each with a Governor), 15 republics (each with a President), 8 Soviet republics (who elect councils to elect the Supreme Soviet of each SR, who elect the Supreme Soviet of the USSR), and 1 Federative Soviet Republic (who elects a council to elect the Supreme Soviet of the USSR as well as Soviet Prime Minister).

We have "provinces", although they technically act like states. It's complicated.
