In Mexica Tenocha, for all crimes there are only two punishments. Slavery and death. All slavery is essentially the same, while death gets increasingly more painful as the severeity of the crime increases. The least painful death is burning at a stake.

Our worst punishment is life without parole. This is reserved for mass murderers (like Harold Shipman or Fred West).
Please note that Mid Lothian is based on fantasy. Any references to anything/one/where that exists is completely coincidential.
Frequently used abbreviations: HoS = Head of State; HoG = Head of Government; ML = Mid Lothian; KSS - Kate Stephens-Smith.
Fancy an embassy in ML? Click me for details. (PS - I'll return the favour.)
I am usually rewriting stuff about Mid Lothian - just because it's true today isn't necessarily true tomorrow.

Warning - Full-time Grammar Nazi at work. You have been warned. (I guess that's due to my mum being an English teacher. Also, don't use masculine words to describe me - my name is Rebecca, which is clearly a feminine name.)

if you rape someone then kill that person we first cut off your "junk" ( :palm: ) then shot you in both arms and legs and finally throw you at the ocean.
thats all

We have the death penalty by lethal injection recidivist murderers and rapists that can not be rehabilitated and have continued to re-offend after attending a rehabilitation program.

our second most severe penalty is surgical sterilization for child molesters followed by life meaning life in prison.

The worst punishment the state issues for a crime - generally premeditated murder, child molestation, or slave trafficking - is hanging from the neck until dead by means of a nylon rope. Simple, gets the job done, not too protracted or painful if done by an experienced hangman.

Some really crazy punishment-happy types want to bring back crucifixion for the very worst of them. However, the vast majority see this as barbaric - especially anti-slavery activists and Christians (crucifixion was carried out on rebellious slaves in the old Roman Empire; the opposition to crucifixion by Christians should be obvious).

Now, there are some customs that aren't quite illegal but might be fatal. Those generally merit poison, shooting oneself in the back of the head while cleaning your gun, or increasingly - mostly because some of the Viri Russi enjoy old-school gangster movies - cement walking shoes.

Kalasparata's punishment would be generally seen as both insanely barbaric and ridiculously complicated. You want menaces to humanity dead, you might even want people to watch them suffer... but it gets old after awhile.

Our nations worst Punishment is life sentence to hard labor camps without possibility of parole. The oldest living prisoner with this sentence is only 77 years old, he has been serving since the age of 19.

Capital Punishment (Death penalty) for criminal offenses that fall within criteria for the sentence are very harsh. Execution methods vary by state to state in Von amerika, methods offered are: Hanging, Beheading, 5 man firing squad, lethal injection, lethal-slow gassing, electrocution-slow and painful, live incineration chamber.

The worst punishment in Fisenesia is usually The Arena, but can be Experimentation depending on what experiments are being conducted. If a criminal is sentenced to The Arena, (OOC- its like The Hunger Games, but with convicts instead of children) it is essentially a death sentence. Experimentation is where the criminal is used as a subject for various scientific tests, advancing science trials without the use of animals and providing the much needed human without the usual limits of morality when testing on a sentient creature.

If you rape and murder someone, or rape more than one person, or rape the same person more than once, or rape different people more than once, then the punishment is the following:

Made to live forever using drugs (it makes your sentence worse) then cut you into pieces, painfully staple you back together, paraded in chains in front of the entire population while the laugh at you, gouge your eyes out, then sell you as a slave for 1 USD to the grendels.

Most Kandarinese factions and jurisdictions shun forms of punishment involving drawn-out tortures. The point of punishing your enemies, they believe, is to get them out of the way, not to make them suffer - a hated enemy who is alive and suffering horribly is still alive and therefore is still a potential threat. It is likewise believed that a ruler who imposes over-the-top cruelty on their enemies invites similar retaliation. For this reason, the Kandarinese tend to stick to quickly and efficiently killing those they wish to see punished the most severely. Some do practice soul binding, however, as there are all kinds of valuable uses for soul-bound items and volunteers tend not to be forthcoming.
I wish I remember who wrote:Games like Nationstates are like a big cardboard box, and there are two kinds of people in the world. The kind who look at the empty void inside the box and ask "Where the hell is it?" and the kind who jump into the box with their friends and make it into a fort, or a spaceship.

Takaram's prisons do not utilize physical torture or execution as punishment. When someone commits the worst crimes in Takaram, one is sentenced to life imprisonment. However, while this may sound cushy to some, they fail to understand our thinking. Takaram super-maximum security penitentiaries operate on the theory that the worst punishment that can be enacted upon a man is to destroy everything that he stands and fights for. We lock prisoners up into dark solitary cells. They are given food and water, as well as regular meetings with specially trained psychologists who's sole job is to wear these men down to nothing. They slip through whatever armor that the men have, find the flames that drive them, and snuff them out. After a few years, most prisoners are either driven mad or simply left hollow, a physically healthy but mentally dead shell of their former selves.

Needless to say, suicide rates are high in Takaram.

Atom extractor? Failure. That's one of the most delicate things I can think of.
Speaking of which, it would be totally painless.

It wouldn't be fast enough, as well. Unless you're taking out trillions upon billions of atoms at once, then it'll be both painful, fast and non-cost effective. Since, y'know, knives work just as well.

Not that I'm condoning torture at all.

Hairs are untold numbers of atoms wide. And besides, you'll eventually pull out the sodium atoms in the gateways that register pain. And then it won't hurt at all, considering you have pulled out all the atoms between it, mostly consisting of cells that can't feel. That's right, it won't even hurt half the time.

Just use acid or something. I know you want to be cruel'n'all, but this idea will just not work.

Death by firing squad

Postby Corydonia (Ancient) » Fri Apr 09, 2010 3:22 am

This usually means simply a single bullet fired into the back of the skull. However, the aim of our socialist system is to prevent crime by preventing the root causes of crime. We prefer reeducation to punishment. However, in the case of a traitor or class enemy, or a violent criminal, we resort to the supreme penalty.
