As far as sentences go, The Empire does not have an option for execution. Jailing is primarily a focus for rehabilitation. The Empire realizes that some criminals may not be incurable -- serial killers, sexual predators, and the like. Highly offensive crimes or repeat offenders risk near-indefinite stays in psychiatric hospitals until cured or dead.

Unofficially, in the cases of gang lords or military opponents, The Empire has few qualms over quick and direct assassination.

Execution can be anything from a hanging, to firing squad to beheading with a Katanah. Death is retributive and a strong deterrent as well as a preventive for repeated offenders we aren't afraid to show an execution to the public. We don't discriminate between youth, adult and mentally challenged if you are able to commit a heinous enough crime with malice you are able to face your punishment.

Crimes against Children, violent murder of two or more people, attempts against the state (treason) all warrant the death penalty. However no one uses lethal injection as a means of execution. We still use prisons of course.
