The worst war in Alachian history was the civil war of 1627, which was between the forces of the two candidates for emperor, Flavius and Appius, both sons of the recently deceased emperor Quintillius Maximus II. The south declared for Appius and the north for Flavius, and bloody civil war lasted until 1633. Over 300,000 (probably a lot more, estimates vary) died, and the agriculture and cities of the country was ravaged, with the capital city of Iborica reduced to ashes by the forces of Appius in 1631. By the middle of 1633 the forces of Appius had been cornered in the southern region of Vernisia, and at the decisive battle of Talentium in September of 1633 almost all of Appius' remaining army was destroyed. Appius fled to exile overseas and Quintillius Maximus was declared emperor on January 1st, 1634. He was to prove one of the most famous of all the emperors because of his reforming of the Holy Imperium into the Holy Imperial Republic, which is the current form of Government for Alachia today.

The Cybertronian Civil War.

From hundreds of thousands of members of each side, at its worst the entire population of Cybertron was apparently reduced to less than 20 living individuals (both sides combined)!

Fortunately, once we won, it didn't take long to repopulate the planet. After securing some nearby resource-rich asteroids, we had enough raw material for the job, and production commenced. The ability to produce more of ourselves in high-speed factories is something we are thankful for.

The Bloody War which ended the long span of the Kingdom of Tiesa, and put the Communists in Power. More than 25.2 Million people died in the Revolution. The last King of Tiesa and his family including his two young sons and wife were brutally beaten to death infront of the former Imperial Palace which was later burned to the ground. Advisors and Subjects to the King were nailed to the Grand Cathedral in the center of the present day Capital City of New Moscow. Communist Leader Terrance Eebus ordered for the torture and death of thousands of Imperial Loyalists and their children impaled. Most details of the Revolution have been censored by the Communist Party. Opponents of the Communist Party see Terrance Eebus as a monster guilty of a crime too great for death.

The Holy Revolution of May 2008

In the style of the Crusades, Catholic troops took over the government in the bloodiest coup in Fleftic history. 100 million men, women, and children, civilians and soldiers, dead or wounded. Archbishop Renald Gullotti declared himself Grand Cardinal of the Almighty's Republic of Abanhfleft. The Cathloic regime fell in Christmas 2008, in which democratic and communist troops took back Abanhfleft at great cost. All in all, 275 million lives were lost as a result.

This remains a very black mark upon the Catholic Church of Abanhfleft.

Hemenstrian Civil War and Uprising of the Ruling Earls (1537 - 1556)

Details:

Although not the largest war Hemenster has fought in, it was arguably the most significant war for Hemenster, and has contributed much to the shaping of our country today. Prior to 1537, tension had been for a very long time growing between the Five Ruling Earls of Hemenster, who had long held distrust and loathing of eachother (predicted since the creation of the Duchy of Hemenster in 1408, which unified the earldoms under a Duke). Hemenster was (and still is somewhat) divided into five separate earldoms each controlled by a "Ruling Earl". The only land in Hemenster not part of an earldom was/is Totleigh Isle, which is Ducal territory (belongs to no one but the country itself).

The five Ruling Earls hungered for power and were constantly wishing to expand their own territory. At that point Hemenster was in a state not dissimilar to the Cold War. Finally in 1537, war broke out. The Earldoms of Wittonshire and Huntford, who had for a unknown time, been secretely allied, attacked Naffing - the most powerful of the earldoms, and also where the Duke - Timothy Lyttelton - was seated. Naffing then allied with Chesterford, but the fifth earldom, Heston - the smallest and most isolated - refused to engage in war for the time being.

The Duke and his advisors/parliment were technically not allied with any single earldom, for they dealt with and represented the affairs of the entire Duchy, which encompassed the five earldoms. Timothy Lyttelton, 6th Duke of Hemenster flat out refused to have anything to do with the civil war, and for twelve years he held that position while the civil war raged around Him, while He and parliament conducted affairs as normal, even if they were hindered considerably by the war. When Timothy Lyttelton, 6th Duke of Hemenster, died in 1549, his eldest child, Lady Siobhan rose to the ducal throne and became the 7th Duchess of Hemenster. Lady Siobhan was 26 when she became Duchess, the youngest of any Duke or Duchess of Hemenster past and present.

Unlike her father, Siobhan Lyttelton immediately began to deal with the civil war, and made constant tours around the Duchy visiting the Ruling Earls and engaging in diplomacy with them, while remaining politically unalligned. Her efforts rose to no avail however, as the Earls continued to war with eachother. By that time, Wittonshire and Huntford had gained considerable territory in Naffing, and Heston had joined the war, allied with no Earldom in particular but would back whoever seemed to be at an advantage.

In 1554, Her Grace The Duchess of Hemenster with several of her loyal advisors, travelled by boat to England (of which Hemenster was/is technically part of), to see Queen Elizabeth I of England -thus Hemenster, and speak to her about the situtation in Hemenster. The Earls, who were not fond of the "meddling Duchess", dismissed this as her cowardly fleeing from the war. The Duchess of Hemenster stayed in England for 2 years, and in that two years, Hemenster received no word from her. What The Duchess and Queen Elizabeth I spoke about and negotiated in that two years is uncertain, but in 1556, Her Grace The Duchess of Hemenster returned to Hemenster with thousands of English soldiers sent by Queen Elizabeth I, which she personally lead into battle with all of the Earls' armies. The Duchess possessed an army far superior to nearly the entirity of all the Earls' put together, and easily reconquered the five Earldoms in the name of the Queen and Duchess. It was an easy win for the Duchess, and barely any casualties were taken in the Duchess's army.

After retaking control of all of Hemenster, Her Grace summoned the five Ruling Earls to Winchester (not Winchester, England), where Her Grace was seated with parliament. There, acting with the grace of Her Majesty The Queen of England (thus Hemenster), she dismissed all five Ruling Earls of their positions and stripped them of their peerages and power. She passed on the five Earldoms to five people who had aided her with eminent loyalty and shown great merit during the war. It was then that the Statute of Winchester was created that restricted the Ruling Earls' power and would prevent something of this measure from ever happening again.

The Second Anticitzen Uprising.

Five years after the establishment of Permanent Administration, a spate of large pro-republican riots sprung in Satirius's major cities in what was the first Anticitzen Uprising. The Department of Riot Control was largely able to suppress it and disperse the conspirators to the mountainous borderlands of the south, with a little aid from reservists at the locales they were defending. However, lack of effective law enforcement at said mountains led the Anticitizens to capture all three Valleys of Egress in a decade, the only "real" way of southbound land transportation out of Satirius, and coordinate an incredible offensive. 120,000 Riot Officers and reservists died in the first two months, and the south was for all intents and purposes seceded until the regular army mounted a bloody counteroffensive, costing them another 50,000 casualties. The Anticitzens, however, fared far worse, with 2.5 million of their 4-million strong resistance dead through carpet-bombing of the Valleys. The resistance, broken and effectively caged, were pinned down as the army mined the foreign end of the East Valley and created a DMZ on the national end, establishing the Anticitzen Exclusion Zone, now seventy years old. Here, recruits are hardened with live combat against an entrenched (albeit woefully unskilled, as the "disciplined" Anticitizens and their commanders have either died in the war of old age) enemy, a process which kills about 30 recruits (out of about 80,000) per year.
