The Prague Human Development Index

Postby The Greater Bohemian Union » Sun Feb 28, 2016 11:32 am

Sponsored by a independent non-profit hosted in Prague, the Prague Human Development Index has been released, pretty much the same as the traditional HDI but with small tweaks, the same math is used as well!

Factors in the Prague Human Development Index
  • Life Expectancy at Birth (Traditional)
  • Mean Years of Schooling (Traditional)
  • Expected Years of Schooling (Traditional)
  • GNI per capita, PPP (Traditional)
  • Healthcare Accessibility (New)
  • Educational Quality (New)

The New Factors

Healthcare Accessibility - This factor will rate the ability for citizens in your country to get healthcare when needed, and gauge how many barriers and obstacles it may take for citizens to get it. This is a minor factor and will be weighted lower than average, and cannot change the index by more than 0.05.
x1.3 - Low Insurance / Highly Inaccessible
x1.2 - All Insurance / Highly Inaccessible
x1.1 - Some Insurance / Moderately Inaccessible
x1 - High/All Insurance / 70/80 Accessible
x0.9 - All Insurance / 80/90 Accessible
x0.8 - All Insurance / All Accessible

Educational Quality Factor - Education on the traditional scale is only monitored on longevity and not quality, we ask a few questions to gauge the quality of education. This is a minor tweak and weight. It will not change the index by more than 0.05. This factor was introduced after a few applications came in and therefore does no apply to a few.
x1.3 - Very Low Quality
x1.2 - Low Quality
x1.1 - Low-Medium Quality
x1 - Medium Quality
x0.9 - High Quality
x0.8 - Very High Quality

More to come in the future!

F.A.Q.

Q. My nation doesn't conform to some of the boundaries put on numbers in the form.
A. Then your nation is most likely not MT, this scale has to be for a certain set of nations or else the math doesn't work. All the numbers have very good minimums and maximums to work with, and you gotta stay within the number ranges.

Q. How can I support you for getting my HDI?!?
A. Great question! Linking it in your national overview back to this form or in your signature is great and lets other people be able to get their own P-HDIs!

Dimension index = actual value – minimum value
maximum value – minimum value
+++++++++++++++++++++++++
NOTE
Very high human development 0.800 and above
High human development 0.700–0.799
Medium human development 0.550–0.699
Low human development Below 0.550

::Healthcare::
What is the life expectancy of a new born in your nation? (20 to 90 years) 90 years
If your healthcare is public, does everyone have access to it at all times, if not, explain?
The UCE's healthcare system is entirely state-owned and operated. Individuals may access healthcare services by going to pharmacies or medical centers anywhere in the United Colonies of Earth. Nonhuman citizens may have to prove citizenship in some places, though.
If your healthcare is public, describe the nature of it in your nation such as possible wait times, if staffing is adequate, etc?
Providers of healthcare are mostly Surgical, Pharmaceutical, Advisory and Medical Assistance Robots or "DocBots"; humans only take part in the process as patients or administrators. Staffing of medical centers is calculated as being 1 DocBot for every ten citizens in the service area, which has been calculated as adequate but causing former administrative costs to be replaced by electricity costs. Wait times are generally 10 minutes or less.
If your healthcare is private, what is the percentage of people that have healthcare insurance?
See above.
If your healthcare is private, of those who do not have healthcare insurance, if any, what percentage of them are below the poverty line?
See above.
(The above question is gauging the ability of higher income persons may not choose to have insurance because they do not mind paying out of pocket between actual poorer people who cannot afford to pay)
::Education::
Is primary/secondary education mandatory in your nation?
All children between the ages of four and sixteen are required to attend school for at least six hours out of every school day.
Is tertiary/college education mandatory in your nation?
There is no statute or regulation stating such explicitly. However, the majority of jobs require at least an undergraduate degree in related fields.
What year do children start education (If mandatory)?
Children start education at the beginning of the school semester which is nearest to their fourth birthday.
Are teachers mandated to have at least tertiary education to teach?
Teachers in the United Colonies of Earth who are human are required to have a bachelor's degree at minimum, to a master's degree for extremely complex or specialized fields.
Robotic teachers require no such standards; nonhumans are held to the same standards as humans.
How many years of tertiary education does the typical teacher have? Typically, 6.5 years for human teachers.
How many years does your Government expect citizens to enroll in school for? (0 - 18) 12 years.
(If primary and secondary education are mandatory and tertiary education is not and is also not provided fully by the government then the above number should be around 10 to 15. It tertiary education is mandatory or if it is fully provided by the government then the above number should be around 13 to 18.)

FUTURE INDEX TAKERS:

Please note that Gross national income per capita PPP is very likely in a modern day society to be around 30,000 to 50,000. Here is a few examples of world powers:

The UK - $39,826
The USA - $54,629
France - $40,537
Germany - $47,033

I say this just to insure you all get true numbers to your nation as I have seen a lot of you go above 50-60k in this number.

Those greater than 60,000 most likely have to be smaller countries, like the Nordic countries and the Gulf States like Qatar, Bahrain, and the UAE where either you have awesome affordable living or most of the populace is rich.

EDIT: If anyone has questions on the 'Kahneman and Deaton Rule', that is upheld by the UN and pretty much says that once its above 75,000 any higher does not benefit overall in human development.

Oh, for us, we are PMT.

Yeah, this is more meant for MT nations, you are totally free however to do it as a PMT, you just won't get the full affect of telling where you are at aligned in with average nations since you will always be higher.

What is the life expectancy of a new born in your nation? (20 to 90 years): 80
If your healthcare is public, does everyone have access to it at all times, if not, explain?: Everyone has access to healthcare at all times.
If your healthcare is public, describe the nature of it in your nation such as possible wait times, if staffing is adequate, etc?: Long wait time for unimportant healthcare, but for anything important, such as an emergency, undiscovered disease, anything lethal, or anything time-dependent, the doctors are basically the flash. You can find extremely large quantities of doctors at all times, but lower on weekends.
::Education::
Is primary/secondary education mandatory in your nation?: Kind of. You have to have some education, though you can be homeschooled, or, in a surprisingly common trend, get all your information from the internet - it works surprisingly, very well.
Is tertiary/college education mandatory in your nation?: No, but most people get it anyway.
What year do children start education (If mandatory)?: Public? Around 5 or 6.
Are teachers mandated to have at least tertiary education to teach?: Yes
How many years of tertiary education does the typical teacher have?: 5
How many years does your Government expect citizens to enroll in school for?: 10 min, 15 max, assuming they are not homeschooled/internetschooled
What is the actual mean years of schooling per citizen?: 17, usually.
::Economical::
What is your countries Gross national income per capita PPP (International $): 64,263

HEALTHCARE: (80 - 20) / (80 - 20) / 1 = 1
EDUCATION: (12.5 - 0) / (18 - 0)=0.694 + (17 - 0) / (15 - 0)=1.13 = 0.913 / 0.955 = 0.956
ECONOMICAL: (64263 - 100) / (75000 - 100) = 0.856
(1+0.956+0.856) / 3 = 0.937

To the government of Jiakros:

Your HDI is 0.937, you are classified in the 'VERY HIGH Human Development' section.

Prague Human Development Index Form
::Healthcare::
What is the life expectancy of a new born in your nation? 82 years.
If your healthcare is public, does everyone have access to it at all times, if not, explain? Emergency care is available to all people regardless of nationality, as it is the state's ethical responsibility to all human beings to prevent loss of life; ordinary heath care is available to all citizens and permanent residents in China, free of medical fees. Administrative fees are paid by patients.
If your healthcare is public, describe the nature of it in your nation such as possible wait times, if staffing is adequate, etc? Staffing and equipment adequacy varies from place to place, but has been on an improving trend in contempt of economic downturns and social upheavals. For serious operations, especially those immediately affecting a question of survival, resources are diverted immediately to the satisfaction of that problem. For less serious operations, resources are given on a first-come first-serve basis, but unreasonable waiting times and queues are shortened whenever alternate procedures are found or additional resources allocated.
If your healthcare is private, what is the percentage of people that have healthcare insurance?
If your healthcare is private, of those who do not have healthcare insurance, if any, what percentage of them are below the poverty line?

(The above question is gauging the ability of higher income persons may not choose to have insurance because they do not mind paying out of pocket between actual poorer people who cannot afford to pay)
::Education::
Is primary/secondary education mandatory in your nation? Both yes.
Is tertiary/college education mandatory in your nation? No.
What year do children start education (If mandatory)? They are mandatorily enrolled in primary education in the September immediately after they turn six years of age.
Are teachers mandated to have at least tertiary education to teach? Not in all positions, but most schools prefer such qualifications. In tertiary institutions, a tertiary degree is universal.
How many years of tertiary education does the typical teacher have? Most teachers have a bachelor's in science or liberal arts, with an intensive teaching training program equivalent to a master's degree.
How many years does your Government expect citizens to enroll in school for? (0 - 18) 16 is the current norm, encompassing twelve years of mandatory education and four years of college/university.
(If primary and secondary education are mandatory and tertiary education is not and is also not provided fully by the government then the above number should be around 10 to 15. It tertiary education is mandatory or if it is fully provided by the government then the above number should be around 13 to 18.)
What is the actual mean years of schooling per citizen? 14, since lots of people choose to eschew a degree for a diploma after finishing the first two years of tertiary education.
::Economical::
What is your countries Gross national income per capita PPP (International $): $48,000, all citizens and resident aliens accounted.
