Speaking of, since then, has there been any word on the AN-94s progress? Will the Ak-12 shut the AN-94 out of standard service, instead it being in selective service with certain units like currently?

AN-94 was never seriously intended for standard service to my knowledge.

Are you still using PMG alone for these, or are you modifying them in Paint, because wow. Those look amazing!

I do have a number of weapons that I touched up in Paint, but the only thing I did to this one was remove a line above the hinge because it's faster to just do it that way than to use shapes.

I'm fairly happy with the general aesthetic, but it probably needs a muzzle brake, and I feel like a longer handguard would be more appropriate given the era.

The AN was originally intended for use as the standard issue rifle of the Russian ground forces
Upon its adoption it became immediately apparent this was never going to happen.
The ANs replacement is still a ways away. The thought is that the AK-12 will replace the AK-74M; it compared against the AEK-971, which is unfortunate it didn't win

Puz I once hit my sister with the butt of an air rifle. I didn't do it that hard, but she cried and ran away, leading to me getting in trouble. To see if it really did hurt, I hit myself with the same very small amount of force on my head. It hurt. Like, it hurt enough that I knew that a decent hit could break someone's skull.

So how hard do you need to hit someone with a wooden stock to kill them? You see movie people getting smashed in the head all the time and they either die in one hit or just get knocked out then wake up no problem.

I sacrifice a small orphan in your name. Praise be to Puz.

With limited economic resources and a small population, the Republic of New Zetland is not capable of maintaining a traditional military. A gendarmerie force known as the NGNZ (National Guard of New Zetland), which fulfils the role of a military, is also tasked with law enforcement. Fortunately New Zetland is an isolated island nation located in a relatively benign security environment and, as such, has no need for a true military. Members of the NGNZ normally wear Disruptive Pattern Material uniforms and red berets. PASGT helmets and vests are also issued as required, though they are not seen regularly. The standard weapon of the NGNZ is the Lithgow L1A1.

Honestly, and this is just speaking as an American who loves guns, the AK-12 doesn't seem like a step ahead technologically. The AK-12 just seems like a regular AK-74M that has been updated for a more modern time, minor functional changes aside. The AEK-971, and the A-545, seems to be more of a step forward with it's BARS system, the AN-94 with it's hyper-fire capability.

I can be wrong though, and the AK-12 would be a step in the right direction until something more proficient at it's job of killing things come along.
