The Technocratic Syndicalists wrote:So I have this idea for a sensor controlled barrel change system for a belt fed MG. Basically there would be a thermocouple built into the barrel which measures its temperature and displays in on a screen on the weapon's receiver. When the barrel gets hots enough the screen would start flashing red, indicating to the user that he should change the barrel. The screen could also serve as an electronic round counter with the colors of the numbers changing as the barrel heats up (starting off blue, turning orange, then red, then flashing red, etc)
Thoughts?

This exists, with the added advantage of having an automatic mechanism for changing barrels.
