I don't think i quite got it; i used to play War Thunder a lot until last year but i guess it flew over my head.

On unrelated news, i've got a free week right now (Motherland's week, since our independence day is there) and i guess i might play another match or two. But knowing my 400-600 ping, it probably won't be very enjoyable.

Oh, top page. Is it still standard practice to post a gun/infantry related stuff in the top page? i'll go search for a decent photo.

I know, i know, the drawning is crap (and the paper is all screwed up) and these guys are probably suicidal or something.

Have some earlier drawnings of late 19th century dakka to see if that cures ya.

I'll see if i can redeem myself though. I have an idea for a drawning, which recently came to my head when i recalled a post by a fellow here in IDT some years ago... I don't know when i will be able to work on it, but it is very likely to be done. And it will probably be less puke-inducing, unless you dislike huehue br br.

Não, that is not sufficient for such a task.

To into favela, you must VBTP-MR Guarani, Urutu and AMTRAC.

I don't think our Air Force has enough money to conduct such an operation.

Seriously, 60% of the FAB is grounded right now because of budget cuts. It's a miracle we're still being able to keep going with the Gripen purchase program.

But i think using our Mi-35s wouldn't be a bad idea. Their optics can keep the crew and the troops on the ground aware of the situation, it has enough armor to not get shot down by an AK or FAL like happened to a RJ Police "Esquilo" quite a few years ago, and if shit gets hot for the guys on the ground, its gunner can provide fire support with... acceptable collateral damage. No collateral damage would be impossible in the tightly packed environment of the Favela, but any operation there, with air support or not, will invariably have a significant degree of collateral damage. At least using the Mi-35s would ensure that traffickers running away from the Favelas could be neutralized instead of just being watched like happened in 2014 when a police helicopter located a group of armed men fleeing but was unable to do anything.

Since i get a feeling that this is getting a bit off-topic, i'd like to take the opportunity to ask more knowledgeable individuals who happen to be interested in this question if it would be feasible to use attack helicopters like the Mi-35 to provide fire support to troops in such a tight and irregular environment as the Favela. Consider it as an infantry operation against an irregular group and not as a police action, because over there it is said that when shit hits the fan and the Armed Forces are called in, it's just like war, just with more civilians than usual.

brazil isnt the us army

theyre more competent anyway

however this is SUPER grimdank:

Finally, the riots showed that National Guard and Federal troops will need to be better equipped for future civil disturbance operations. Radios suitable for the city environment, personal protective equipment, and less lethal means of dealing with well-armed criminal gangs are required in sufficient numbers to support police and military involved in a large civil disturbance.

Hypothetical question: If Russia really invaded Crimea, in a full-scale land war, and the US decided to get involved, how much would the average US Army infantryman change compared to how he's equipped now, in a COIN-based environment?

Loaded question.
Depends on the unit.
It would change greatly since it would result in the NCR and Cesar's Legion engaging in a battle over Hoover Dam while the Institute fights for their Technocracy, the Brotherhood goes all LITERALLY HITLER, and a random Self-Propelled Infantry Regimental wakes from a 200 year slumber to fight for TRUTH, JUSTICE, AND THE AMERICAN WAY with .38 special needs pipe guns in some bizzaro world.

The hilarity that the US learned the same thing as Russia did at the same time is not lost on me.
Its just worthy of note that the experiences lead to such dramatically different results. This is obviously because of what was experienced.

The Kingdom of Ascqvar-Pfaltzreich uses the Mas-36 bolt action rifle (current year being 1942 here) as the main rifle of the national army. The army developed this rifle using feedback from soldiers after using and reviewing other rifle designs over the course of several years. This rifle also serves alongside the Karabiner 98 Kurz which is used my some independently operated Civil Militias (Bürgermilizen) of Pfeltzreich.

Are "dazzler" weapons/devices ever actually useful or used? I've seen a few images of these devices attached to M240s mounted on HMMWVs, but I've never seen them actually used or if they are actually effective. Further more, what about the US Air Force's specialized PHASR rifle?

The Protocol on Blinding Laser Weapons bans them in some regards

The UN wrote:Article 1
It is prohibited to employ laser weapons specifically designed, as their sole combat function or as one of their combat functions, to cause permanent blindness to unenhanced vision, that is to the naked eye or to the eye with corrective eyesight devices. The High Contracting Parties shall not transfer such weapons to any State or non-State entity.

What devices attached to 240s? As Puz pointed out, they're banned.

A pilot-blinding system was proposed for the F-35. Galla says it was dropped for reasons beside the ban.

Permanent blinding devices are banned, temporary blinders are not AFAIK.

One of those M240-mounted dazzlers, for reference.

Tbh the impulse of radiant light or otherwise needed to blind a person permanently is so high it's basically impossible to do with a system that weighs less than an unnecessary amount.
Basically any convenient sized blinder is going to be "temporary" blinding, larger blinders would basically work by cooking your eyeballs.
Mm

Looking at rifles and how they work and stuff and I was looking at AK's. And whilst I've found some good cross section images and stuff I can't rightly tell if the bolt is supposed to lock up into an extension that's part of the barrel or if it's part of the receiver and the barrel also slots into that.

So which is it?

Purpelia does not reflect my actual world views. In fact, the vast majority of Purpelian cannon is meant to shock and thus deliberately insane. I just like playing with the idea of a country of madmen utterly convinced that everyone else are the barbarians. So play along or not but don't ever think it's for real.

The drawning is supposed to portray a Little Brazilian (one of the states that later united to form the USBN in my nation's canon) expeditionary group that got sent to the Eastern Front to fight alongside Soviet forces. To into Coup d'etat, you must Walker Bulldog.

For a second i had forgotten the Hind could carry troops. That would indeed be quite useful for evacuation or insertion of troops in strategic locations, even though i suppose it would still be suicidal to attempt to drop troops in a hot LZ despite its armor since those bastards have been known to get their hands on RPGs. Sometimes i wonder how can they get so much crap past the border.
