I don't have Tacbars or whatever but I do tend to pack mostly meal supplement bars when I go out to do my yearly "Puz is still horrifyingly unstable" journey into the woods.
They work well enough. They dont taste amazing but they aren't awful.
Should probably be sure they at least get a real meal or at least an MRE here and there because eating those will cause plenty of digestive issues.

What are your opinions on the concept of a primer actuated assault rifle?

Like I know that it's definitively possible thanks to Forgotten Weapons and Wikipedia. But neither tell me of any potential horrible down sides of using such a system. So like it just looks to be the ideal thing really. It's clean and simple. There are no gas pistons or tubes to complicate things. And yet it's a locked breach action. So like am I missing something?

PS. I know I'd need to make the primers on my ammo a certain way to make sure the system can work. And I can see how that would be a turnoff for someone with existing ammo stocks. But I am adopting a new rifle and cartridge together so making the primer a certain way is a non issue.

needlessly complicated for literally zero gain
There have been zero successful commercial and only a handful of military trial firearms that have ever used primer actuation, if there was any benefit it would have become far more common.
The only thing that has used it is the spotting/training rifle for the SMAW and that may have killed one person ever.

Er... I need to ask. How is it complicated? Like... from what I've seen it's basically the simplest thing stight after strait blowback.

Because 90% of the ammunition used complex piston arrangements and the other 10% either risked primer blow outs or moisture entering through the unsealed primer pocket.

Mind you, though, the French nearly did settle Australia, until they decided it would be too much bother for too little reward seeing as England was just starting colonisation.

Rip in peace balkans

Hypothetical question: If Russia really invaded Crimea, in a full-scale land war, and the US decided to get involved, how much would the average US Army infantryman change compared to how he's equipped now, in a COIN-based environment?
