Urranese Forces Sishai Gets New Boss, Promises Reform

In a ceremony at Joint Base Matsu, command of Urranese Armed Forces Sishai was transferred to Republic of Urran Air Force Major Air Marshal Lie Chen-wu.

This comes after the unexpected death of Marines Corps Major General Chi liu-kwang earlier this week. Liu-kwaning passed from a heart attack at the age of 72 after more than 50 years of service.

The Air Marshal has immediately begun putting into place reforms that were discussed by his predecessor, but never fully brought into play.

In a speech at the transfer ceremony, Liu-kwang announced the reactivation of the 3rd and 4th Bomb Wings, was well as the transference of three fourths or Urran's tactical, and half of Urran's medium and intermediate range ballistic missiles will be transferred to Gunagdong Province "as soon as can possibly be achieved".

The plan also calls for more air and coastal defense batteries, as well as the creation of more long range radar stations.

Along with these plans, call have been made to expand military facilities on the island, particularly air bases, which would allow for higher tempo combat operations in the event of a regional or global conflict.

In his speech Liu-kwang said,"It is important for us to be able to project hard power and engaged in conflict across the entire continent of Sishai to ensure local stability and tranquility. Urran remain committed to our duties to ensure a peaceful environment where prosperity and international cooperation can flourish".

Liu-kwang finished his speech by announcing a new regional anti-piracy policy, allowing for the destruction of any unresponsive or aggressive acting vessels suspected of piracy or smuggling. This comes after a spike in piracy in the region following the collapse of the Azen State. The Air Marshal also agreed to work together with local leaders to deal with the refugee crisis, but noted that the federal government would not interfere with a prefecturial order to bar all migrants from asylum or entrance into Urran via Guangdong Province.

Kaisr Willem van Valk II, age 27, died this morning in what appears to be an assassination at approximately 11:13 AM, Steiric/Nauchrten Eastern Time.

BKI officers have cordoned off the scene of the crime and are not allowing anyone other than authorized personnel through. Director of the Bureau Kasmir Verskol has released a public statement several hours ago addressing the investigation and members of the public and international community. In it he states "It appears a moderate-size plastic explosive was placed on the Ragno-Kohlefeld line near the rear of the train, near the cargo compartments which were carrying military munitions and armored vehicles. The explosive appears to have been remotely detonated, the resulting explosion, though comparatively small, caused the cook-off of the improvised magazine. The final explosion obliterated the rear portion of the train and derailed the carriages ahead of it. The crash and explosion combined are estimated to have killed some 200 military personnel--primarily Bundesgarde and Reiksheer personnel--and an additional 150 civilians. Do note that these figures are estimates and a body count is being conducted by BKI officials and local Bundesgarde units. Many are still unaccounted for."

A public medical report indicates that the Kaisr, having survived the initial attack, died approximately half and hour afterwards from internal wounds and oxygen deprivation, which had gone untreated as surviving bodyguards were unable to locate him. His body was discovered 3 hours later, buried beneath debris from the train and clutching a small child--Anastasia Förster, age 12,--who survived and is recovering in Ragno Military Hospital.

As the late Kasr was unwed, with no heirs and no siblings, the Crown of Cold Iron has fallen to the next most competent relative, as judged by the Reiksrat. As such the Crown has thus been passed to Panzerkavalier Hauptmann Amelie von Wintr, of the valiant Reiksritter House von Wintr. The Donnish Military has now just announced the successful detonation of a 10 Kiloton Tactical Nuclear Warhead meant for use in Donner Land's newest Nuclear Cruise Missile which will be launched by Nuclear Powered Submarines designed by both the Valaran's and Donner Land for the Donnish Navy's need of a submersible fleet as well as the new Tactical Nuclear Doctrine announced by Donnish Military Staff.

After months of development, a successful test means that Donner Land has become a Nuclear Power after so long being surrounded by nations fully capable of the ability. Both Strategically and Tactically. Allowing for deterrent and 1st Strike Capability against Enemy Forces. The Military has said that the weapons will be designed to produce less radiation and fallout but retaining its power, and likely aimed at destroying infrastructure and other high-value targets.

Critics of this, including those in other nations, mostly environmentalists and those against nuclear proliferation, have said their grievances with another nation becoming nuclear strike capable. However, the likelihood of using these weapons are still very low. Donnish citizens shouldn't be alarmed, and, if anything should feel safer because a form of deterrence has been created.

After the detonation, the Donnish Military has announced that it will now be organizing the logistics and administration behind creating a Nuclear Launch Command, which will control when, where, how and why nuclear weapons will be launched and further clarifying Donnish Doctrine when Nuclear Weapons have been deployed to Donnish Submarines. This Nuclear Attack Command (D.N.A.C) as it will be called, will ensure that the nuclear weapons of Donner Land will be used correctly and stored safely and for a time placed under the Navy's command.

Seeing this, the Military is announcing that it will be asking for volunteers from the military to join the DNAC and assist in its creation and foundation.

Vacif to join PACT intervention in East Helsa

SORSOKINA - One week after initial intervention in the East Helsan nation of Modeno, Vacif is deploying the 7th Mechanized Division to assist its PACT allies in East Helsa. This will mark the second deployment of the Vacifan ground forces abroad this year and since the lifting of isolationism. The same 7th Mechanized that had been deployed to Turmenista. When questioned on the intentions of PACT in East Helsa, PACT spokesperson James Sewerd told reporters, "The PACT's operation in Modeno is centered around the preservation of the status quo in East Helsa, and the national sovereignty of the Modenan peoples." The Vacifan government has condemned the actions of Greater Liverpool and its Dominion allies, but has cemented their stance by deploying Vacifan soldiers. Since the start of the PACT operation, the fighting has been pushed relatively close to the northern border between Modeno and Greater Liverpool. The army has made few statements regarding the redeployment of the 7th Mechanized division, however have planned their own press release in the future following their deployment.

Herculius – There have been numerous reports of a large explosion in the capital today. It is believed that it was nuclear in nature, however, not much is known. This occurred approximately an hour ago at 1136 when all communication with the capital city was lost. A mushroom cloud was reported by many people, and of whom posted it on social media. It is too early say what the full extent of damages are.

Today the Caesar was having a full meeting with his cabinet in the Imperial Palace. Though it is believed that there are radiation shielded parts of the Imperial Palace, the Cabinet Meeting room is not one of those rooms. Not all hope is lost for the brave leaders of the executive branch, however, as it is possible that they were not affected by the explosion.

The Senate also saw full attendance today, with a special session to go over new laws on the ledger. It was a marathon session to vote on many bills which have already been debated. At the time of sign in, all members of the Senate were reported in. No one reported out by the time of 1135. All members of the civilian Personam Concilium were reported to be in attendance as well, watching the proceedings, and offering commentary when designated by the Praetor.

In a horrible twist, the entire Pontifex High Court was convened listening to a case and the Joint Chiefs, with all their deputies, were meeting in the city as well on this day. This means it is believed that the entire line of succession was meeting in New Rome today. What this means for the future of this nation is not known. It is, however, too early to make any decisions. The full facts must first be gathered. This station urges all Romans to stay calm and remain indoors. Keep all pets and servants on a tight leash.

<EDIT, 1249> There are reports coming in that the Nation Orphan Convention was also meeting in New Rome today. This convention saw over 5,000 orphans, aged 5 to 15, coming together to talk about their experiences, and make joy and merriment. Caretakers also attended with seminars for them. It is not known how many casualties there are, but at the moment it appears to be total.

Herculius – The surviving Legates and their staffs from the 25 Legions, 6 air defense zones, and 4 Naval Fleets are meeting in Herculius to determine what to do with the nation. It is expected for them to create a new provisional government until such time that a proper election can be run.

Preliminary reports investigating the explosion have confirmed that the explosion was, in fact, a nuclear explosion. Experts believe that the device detonated was, in fact, a three-stage thermonuclear device, which was common in the Roman Arsenal in the 1970s. They believe this due to the amount and types of radiation present, and the amount of damage the device caused. Incidentally, the Imperial Air Force lost 3 such bombs when a plane crashed in the Roman Sea back in the 1970s. Neither the plane nor the bombs were ever found or recovered.

All traffic has been halted by military units as the contingency plan went into place. Anyone caught outside will be arrested. There have been 10 deaths in relation to the roadblocks by the military.

Constanius – During the middle of the first meeting of the Provincial Government, another two explosions rocked the Empire, the first in Herculius, with the other believed to be detonated in the breadbasket west of Herculius. Though it is not known whether these were nuclear, there were many pictures posted on social media of mushroom clouds, and many reports of blinding flashes. A former Air Force pilot also stated how it is likely that it is likely these were the remaining two nuclear weapons lost in the 70s when the IAF bomber was lost in the Roman Sea.

This attack follows the news that the Greater New Rome Area Nuclear Power Plant has begun undergoing a meltdown after the destruction of infrastructure in New Rome. Officials are shutting down the plant, but they believe that it will not be completed in time.

The new attack spreads fears for the Herculius Nuclear Power Facility, which is much closer to the city than the New Rome plant, that it may meltdown before officials can get to it to shut it down. This is very bad as wind patterns go to the west, over the bread basket, where all the grain production occurs.

With all leaders dead, it is not known where the nation will go now. We are now looking at a nation-wide famine. Radiation is causing large swaths of the nation to be inhabitable. This news station shall stay for as long as possible, bringing all the news as we get it.

The radical animal group, The Bloodied Hooves (TBH), claimed the three attacks. They a group of Fauns who think they believe that Romans have oppressed and slaughtered them for hundreds, maybe thousands of years. Sadly, this is not further from the truth. Is the cow oppressed? The goat? The horse? They are not, and neither were the Fauns. But they had evil outside ideas infect their heads, and so here we are, 3 thermonuclear warheads detonated for no good reason.

TBH stated they committed the acts to destroy those who sought to destroy them.

Reports are coming from an IAF Base that strategic bombers have been fully laden with bombs and taken off. Though the location to which they are flying is not known, it is believed that they are targeting the untamed area on the peninsula after Hadrianium, where the Fauns still dwell and attack the civilized parts of the continent.

Ondos – The Gileanan government announced that at 0320 this morning that they had commenced an invasion of Sicilonia. This invasion was preceded with rising tensions on both sides, and the Roman government planning on deploying several Cohorts, if not an entire Legion, as a show of force. However, the attack on New Rome and Herculius happened before forces could be deployed.

At 1046, the Gileanan government announced the complete take over of Sicilonia. Though it is reported that many were killed, the leading members of the Vestal Virgins were able to escape. Their current whereabouts are unknown.

Many experts believe that the Gileanan government would not have attempted such an invasion if the NIR had not been attacked. This is the first of the short term affects of the fall of the NIR. It is believed that Jedus will also attempt an attack on Tatonia and Nabonia. However, they are currently celebrating the fall of the NIR, who had been exacting soft power on that state for many years now.

This invasion will mark an end to the lavish Roman lifestyle of the Sicilonians, as the more puritan lifestyle of the Gileanans is enforced. It will be a long while before Gileana can declare a total victory.

Constanius – Riots have been occurring in Constanius since late last night. Food has already disappeared from the shelves, with no chance of being restocked. All shipping companies have ended service because it is too dangerous to be on the roads. It is reported that similar riots are occurring in other cities as well.

The remaining members of the 5th Legion have done nothing to curb the violence and rioting. Other Legions have taken direct control of their area or have begun fighting internally. It is reported that a full war is being waged in Bonna, as Cohortions and Centurions try to take power in the Legion.

GRCS Suspends Roman Membership

Olympia, URA, GRCS

In an emergency over-weekend meeting of several representatives to the GRCS Council, the Council voted in a 4-2-2 vote to suspend the membership of the Greater Remnant Cooperation Sphere. In the vote, the Remnant, Zhanguanese, Canaamese, and Nongean representatives voted in favor of suspension, while the Namavarian and Pragmatan representatives voted against. The Alenterran representative refused to vote, calling the meeting "politically motivated." The Roman representative was not present for the meeting.

A suspension in the GRCS has never been discussed until this meeting, but a GRCS representative anonymously speaking to RNN explained that the suspension removes coordination between the NIR and the rest of the GRCS until such time as another vote is held to review the membership of the NIR. Additionally, the vote to review the NIR's suspended membership can be called at any time by a member other than the Roman representative.

Some critics have stated the unconstitutionality of such a meeting being held, as well as the fact that a vote was held on the Roman membership while there is currently no information on if a Roman government currently exists, including the assigned Roman representative to the GRCS, who's current whereabouts are unknown.

The GRCS is expected to meet this Friday to discuss the potential of a GRCS diplomatic, relief, and peacekeeping operation to the ailing NIR.

25 Suspects Arrested by R.U.S.E In Connection to Terror Plot

Officers from the Pakirani Rapid Response Unit Special Activities (R.U.S.E) packing up.

25 indivuduals were arrested by Rapid Response Unit Special Activities (R.U.S.E) officers last night in Pakiranistani held Azenyanistan in connection to a terror plot. Local residents were ordered to stay inside after curious onlookers ventured into the raid zones with one resident stating "I heard alot of bangs and shouting so I went to check outside and this military man aimed a machinegun at me and yelled at me to go back inside" similiar accounts were taken from other residents.

This comes as a surprise as R.U.S.E officers did not have jurisdiction in Pakiranistani held Azenyanistan prior to this raid. According to R.U.S.E Public Spokesperson Commander Sher Bahadur Khan, his agency had recieved jurisidiction from Pakiranistani Military Police as he stated at a public briefing of the event "Yes it is true we nominally do not have jurisdiction in the area that the raids have occured, however, we were requested by local elements of the Pakiranistani Army Military Police to spearhead the raids with officers from the force assisting the operation."

Information about the results of the operation were also released at the public briefing, according to the operation memos the assault was planned after an anonymus tipoff from a local source alerted the Pakiranistani Military Police of a possible terror plot. Local military officials began monitoring the hangouts of the possible suspects in order to confirm the possibility of the terror plot, the terror plot was confirmed but according to the memo a problem arose with manpower as there were no free Military Police raid teams availaible at the time and as such an executive decision was made to fly in R.U.S.E officers to lead the raid. More details are expected to be revealed about the operation, stay tuned for more.

Astaria, Valaran — Prime Minister Hesseren has ordered an evacuation of Valaran citizens from the Imperial Republic of New Rome (NIR), following a series of domestic nuclear terrorist attacks that have wiped out the Roman Government and left the country on the brink of chaos.

In a televised address, the Prime Minister laid out a series of policies designed to address widespread security fears. He called the nuclear incidents “one of the most grave disasters to have befallen in Ausozera in recent years.” Foreign Secretary Crien, in a follow-up interview, called the situation “an international crisis of considerable proportions.” Crien is a noted maestro of understatement.

The Roman Republic has seen the detonation of three nuclear devices in quick succession. The first wiped out all government branches as well as much of the Capital city, New Rome. The second and third detonated outside New Rome, causing damage to the nation’s food production. Responsibility for the attacks has been claimed by Faun-rights group The Bloodied Hooves (TBH). Following the loss of the civilian administration, military authorities have stepped in, but there appears to be widespread food shortages, a high degree of civil unrest and apparent infighting between different military units. The full death-toll is unknown.

The Valaran government has officially labelled its priorities as the security of Valaran citizens in NIR, and the prevention of further rogue attacks. Hesseren stated that a Task Force being readied to Modern will instead be re-routed to the Roman Republic. The Task Force, including the Fourth Patrol Fleet and at least one VRM Brigade, will be used to evacuate Valaran citizens trapped in the increasingly unstable republic. Specialist CRBN teams will also be deployed, in the likely event that Valaran citizens were caught in the blasts. Crien added that the families of Valaran citizens will be evacuated, and that the Task Force would attempt to liaise with authorities on the ground, in order to assess the situation. Valaran has an unknown number of citizens in NIR, but it is thought to number several hundred thousand, many of whom were in the capital city. The Foreign Ministry has confirmed the deaths of all members of its embassy in New Rome.

A second Task Force was being assembled to deliver aid to the stricken nation. It will comprise of a number of transports, and the new Isan Class of Frigates, each filled with food, medical supplies, and CRBN response equipment such as ion-mobility spectrometry and HAZMAT suits. Hesseren stated that its mission will be to assist the Roman authorities in securing contaminated areas and helping survivors fo the blasts. It will also attempt to alleviate shortages of food and emergency supplies. Crien also noted the difficulty of coordinating the delivery of aid, given the deteriorating situation. Asked how safe the members of the Task Force would be, the Foreing Secretary pointed out that “they have volunteer and trained for the most extreme of scenarios” but that they would be receiving VRF protection.

In his speech, Hessen stated that the Task Force may sail under the colours of the ISCF, an international Humanitarian Agency designed to replace the IADA. Equipment such as the Isan Frigates had originally been purchased for ISCF roles. However, the Valaran government has not tabled a resolution in ISCF for this purpose, leading to confusion about whether the Task Force would be an ISCF mission or not. A government spokesperson replied that “what matters is sending aid to this in need. The Task Force will be delivering [emergency supplies] whether under ISCF colours or Skaran sigils.” ISCF has faced mounting criticism for inactivity, with representatives of the United Remnants calling for joint action regarding the NIR.

Asked whether she believed that The Bloodied Hooves were responsible, Crien said “the matter is being investigated at the highest levels”, referring to Valaran Security Services. She noted the group’s “terrorist acts”. However, Crien also took the time to point out that the grievances of Fauns and other sub-human groups were legitimate, as “most have been deprived of basic rights”. Non-human slavery is routinely practiced in NIR, with widespread allegations of the trafficking of non-humans into the Imperial Republic.

All members of the government implored citizens not to panic, in fear Romans or Fauns may be targeted in reprisals. Police protection was announced in areas with high-numbers of Romans and non-humans, with additional units mobilised. The government has additionally taken the unusual step of deploying censors online to delete “inflammatory content” and “damaging rumours” as part of an effort to tackle the spread of false information. There is also concern that Romans may themselves attempt to ‘take revenge’ on Fauns. The 2014 census lists some 39,000 Roman citizens, and some 18,000 Fauns as living in Valaran; those with Roman heritage are though to number as high as 100,000.

The government has also ordered a halt to all products and persons coming from NIR, following widespread fear that the TBH or other groups may have smuggled atomic devices out of the country. Legionaries were deployed to all major ports and airports in order to aid the checks. The move came under immediate criticism from business leaders for stoking panic, and for the potential to cause widespread chaos. Given the highly integrated nature of global supply chains, Roman components are found in many products. The detonations in NIR have revived calls for an international action on Nuclear Weapons, and Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMDs) in general. WMDs in Ausozera have long received varying degrees of tolerance. Some nations have foresworn their use outright, and instead focused on conventional armaments and ballistic missile shields. However, geopolitical rivalries and insecurity following the Second World War has lead to many nations employing them as deterrents, often despite opposition from their own citizens. WMDs have occasionally seen use in armed conflicts. For instance, in late 2017, militaries from the Dominion used chemical weapons in then Azenyanistan. However there has long been a taboo on the use of Nuclear Weapons, in large part due to their high-destructive power and potential for Mutual Assured Destruction (MAD). This taboo has remained despite periods of high-tension between nuclear armed states, and has become institutionalised. Most states have a formal or de facto ‘no first strike’ policy.

The NIR was thought to have one of the largest arsenals of WMDs, not just including nuclear warheads, but also biological and chemical weaponry. It has also remained highly opaque on the nature of its stockpile or its ‘strike policy’, leading several analysts to label it a ‘rogue WMD actor’. Valaran maintains a relatively small nuclear stockpile, largely deployed with its ballistic missile submarines and strategic bombers. It has consistently disavowed the development of most chemical and biological weapons. Recent efforts have lead to an AGSON Missile Shield against ICBMs, complementing Valaran’s own ballistic missile defences .

The international environment regarding WMDs has recently shifted. Initial fears of nuclear war have faded, and concerns instead turned to securing arsenals. Both the The Unified Isles and NIR are thought to have misplaced parts of their stockpile. At the the same time, there has been a gathering push for WMD regulation. However, after a lull in the early 2000s, geopolitical rivalries have again risen, leading to nations to again resort to and rely on the protective shields of WMDs. During the high point of crises like Aratoas, Union nations threatened a nuclear response to aggression by the Dominion. Meanwhile, nations such as Donnerland and the Free Asian Ports have both begun nuclear programmes, though not without opposition. This did much to stymie efforts at regulation, which also ran aground on competing incentives and the difficulties of enforcement. Blocs seemed willing to shield allies from international repercussion, making WMD reductions zero-sum.

The Valaran Government has laid out renewed plans to create some kind of Multilateral Treaty of WMDs. The Treaty would establish an international monitoring and crisis response bodies, prohibit devices below 10kt, and make steps towards restricting unsafe practices. Alternative proposals include using ISCF to regulate WMDs. This fulfils a long-standing international aim of Hesseren and the Social Democrats in general, and has been included in Party Manifestos since 1949. However Social Democrats have long faced considerable opposition for such proposals, including from both other main Parties The Treaty has itself faced significant stumbling blocks. It faced indifference from many states, and hostility from those who considered the proposal to be unfairly targeting rivals while leaving the arsenals of allies such as Donnerland intact. Donnerland has recently conducted its first nuclear test, and plans to make a number of Tactical Nuclear Weapons just above the cap of 10kt. Valaran has not conducted a live test since 1991, following a self-imposed ban.

The NIR was thought to be one of the main opponents of such a Treaty, both in the GRCS and internationally. This did much to damage the Treaty’s prospects, since the URA was considered likely to shield its ally from scrutiny or repercussions. But that was before the present crisis. The detonations have highlighted the issues of unsecured nuclear devices, and of a lack of transparency surrounding WMDs. The GRCS has taken the unprecedented move of suspending the NIR — a dramatic event, given that the Roman Republic is the second-most powerful nation in the alliance, and its accession was a crowning achievement of Remnant foreign policy. With its suspension from the alliance, the GRCS’ members may feel freer to support and enforce such a Treaty.

The Nuclear detonations and instability in one of Ausozera’s most powerful states has taken up a lot of airtime, and other issues have understandably been overshadowed. To some, this is has been taken as an opportunity. Using the crisis as cover, the nation of Gileanas has invaded its neighbour, Sicilonia. Both are former provinces of the NIR. While Sicilonia remained under Roman protection, Gileanas has been noticeably opposed to the Roman Republic.

The Valaran Empire has taken a dim view of the invasion. Appearing on national television, Senior Foreign Ministry Diplomat Sathren announced a series of sanctions against Gileanas if they did not withdraw. The first-wave of sanctions were targeted at the leadership, with the threat of blanket measures if Gileanas did not withdraw. Economic sanctions are largely decided by the Foreign Ministry, unless overruled by a Parliamentary vote. This has rarely happened.

Hesseren’s government has been a consistent defender of national sovereignty; the Prime Minister has repeatedly called it the "foundational principle of international affairs". Hesseren has followed up this rhetoric by helping to establish PACT, an alliance built around the protection of national sovereingty. The Prime Minister has also justified two (ongoing) interventions on this principle: in Calvard and Modeno. However, Hesseren has come under criticism for ignoring a similar invasion of Lotschen, which was conducted by an ally.

In Sicilonia’s case, the Prime Minister’s rigid principles have also been blurred by the geopolitical situation. Gileanas is opposed to NIR, which Valaran has also found itself increasingly at odds with. NIR is a leading member of the GRCS, an expansionist bloc that is often seen as a rival to the Valaran Empire and its allies. This has complicated a previously strong relationship, founded on trade links. The issue of non-human slavery has also become increasingly prevalent, with the Hesseren administration pushing for legislation that penalises companies that maintain links to the slave trade. Prior to the current crisis, both countries seemed to be heading for a period of diplomatic ‘deep freeze’. In this context, an intervention against Gileaneas would be aiding the NIR (and by extension the GRCS), and so might be considered “lending a hand to its enemies.”

Asked if military options were being considered, Sathren noted “that nothing was off the table.” Some analysts have questioned the likelihood of an intervention. Famed observer Daran pointed out that unlike in Modeno, no Valaran interests were threatened by the Gilean invasion and argued that the situation in NIR was far more important. Many cited a widely-circulated (and highly controversial) May report by the Think Tank Strategy & Security (Strat-Sec) that warned of imperial overstretch. The report noted that Valaran was already deployed in multiple nations, including Rathras, Modeno, Calvard, and Linnea and of reduced resources, particularly in light of a massive procurement effort taking up a large share of a shrunken budget (in real terms). This overstretch was apparently ‘already in evidence’, highlighting significant cuts to the legions and non-readiness of most units, the postponement of several projects, the ‘firesale’ of several military assets and the use of colonial forces like the Siridians instead of VRF in Modeno. Strat-Sec’s report has been hotly contested, with opponents pointing out that most of these deployments were small and limited to the VRM, with the vast majority of the VIN and VRF remaining unengaged (and active).

Sathren noted that a sizeable Task Force, including the 4th Patrol Fleet, was already being readied for the Roman situation and “could easily be re-routed.”

Urranese "War on Migrants" Escaltes, Coast Guardsman Killed

The Urranese Navy and Coast Guard are currently at the forefront of a migrant crisis as boats filled with Azeni migrants attempt to cross out of Sishai and into Urranese territory across the Sishai Straight. Urranese authorities have been closely working with those of other countries to stem the flow of migrants and provide aid to those displaced by the collapse of the Azen State. However, the Urranese government has refused to take a single migrant and has been accused of violently repelling migrant skiffs and the crisis has been dubbed a "War on Migrants" by several NGOs and media outlets.

The "war" turned deadly in the Sishai Straight and lead to the death of an Urranese Coast Guardsman. In an official press release, the Coast Guard stated that the cutter RUCGC Katemba, an Izu Class cutter, attempted to intercept a stolen fishing vessel being used by migrants to transit the straight into Urran. The civilian craft refused to respond to respond to calls to halt, necessitating the launch of a rigid hull inflatable boat. As the boarding team attempted to cease the vessel, the fishing boat turned away and into the RHIB, causing one member of the team to fall between the two vessels, where they were crushed.

The Coast Guard reports that the fishing craft was halted by cannon fire from the Katemba and that the captain was apprehended. The reports states that the 63 migrants on board have been repatriated to the Federation. The captain is now being held at an Urranese military base in Guangdong awaiting processing into the judicial system. We have been told that the MOJ intends to charge them with an extensive list of charges, some of which carry the death penalty. These include vehicular manslaughter, attempted murder, resisting arrest, failure to comply with law enforcement, reckless operation of a vehicle, operating a marine vessel without proper licensing, theft of a marine craft, reckless endangerment, attempting to enter Urran illegally, and human trafficking.

The name of the Coast Guardsman will not be released until the family is notified.

September 31st, Donnish Elections have all wrapped up. In the council, the Liberal Faction has risen up to 70 seats. The Moderates are now with 35, and the Conservatives have shrunk to a paltry 20. All of this is heavily influenced by Ex-President Vanzen Keene's move to support the Isle'ish Diplomatically, causing massive unrest in general, as well within the council itself with multiple people asking for the impeachment of Vanzen Keenes.

In Keene's place is now Arlehg Rurts. Described by opponents as being "unremarkable, and not a strong leader". But praised by allies for listening to his allies as well as his loyalty to his party and the Donnish Constitution. Opponents have criticized him for simply being a lapdog for the Liberal Faction of the Donnish Council rather than an actual leader as well as his lack of experience in the political field as a whole.

Some proponents of Keenes have called this an overreaction in fear of another "Voy" while most opponents have defended themselves saying that any sane person would call for it since it defiles the very Constitution that the government is built upon. Regardless, the elections are now over, and the damage has been done.

As for the Military Council, Military elections have undergone and all Generals have been re-elected. This is not unsurprising, the sentiment for the longest time has been "if it's not broken, why try and fix it", nothing has gotten any worse for the military, and if anything they've shown their purpose and fighting perceived Tyranny by Vanzen Keenes, the one who had set up the government in the first place.

Due to the scandal, Vanzen Keenes has been all but completely forsaken by the political and military community, despite his actions in the Coup which had defeated Voy in the first place. Instead of being perceived as the Cincinnatus of Donner Land, he's perceived more as the nation's Julius Caesar. Fallen from high popularity due to the unpopularity of an action that is currently delaying conflict and war and instability of PACT due to certain obligation conflicts in the PACT Charter's laws and the Donnish Constitution.

Though some will forget his name, and thus his actions, only to be forcefully labeled a Dictator attempting to force his needs on the people. What they won't know in the future is that his actions were completely known by him as being unpopular and arguably illegal. He sacrificed his political and military career to stop the loss of Donnish life in a land irrelevant to its people and the nation's needs in a war that could be easily avoidable.

This is why this paper is sad to report that Xhughere Vanzen Keenes was found dead in his home, in his military uniform. The Cause of Death has been reported to be Suicide via self-inflicted gunshot wound. There is no word on his reasons for Suicide.

Ex-governor Banshee Executed

It has been confirmed that the former Governor Banshee, leader of the Azen people, has been executed by firing squad after a military tribunal made up of MoD and MoJ officials convicted her of treason against Urran and conspiracy to start an armed resistance movement against the Urranese government.

Banshee and twenty of her co-conspirators were executed at midnight at Tsushima prison, the country's most notorious criminal penitentiaries. Prison officials have reported that Banshee refused her blindfold and died singing the national anthem of the former Azen State. Banshee also refused her last meal and was denied the chance to address the public before her execution.

The body has been cremated under Urranese customs and is awaiting a flight to be sent to what is now the Sishai Federation.

The 20 others executed chose either hanging or lethal injection over being shot. Their bodies are also set to be returned to the Azen homeland following cremation.

Six other low level New Azen officials have also been found guilty of similar charges. The tribunal decided, however, that they were "merely following the orders of their superiors" and are scheduled to be deported to the UoAE. It was decided, however, that they will be permanently barred from entering Urran again.

The incident has caused a bit of a stir both in Urran and abroad for the use of a military tribunal to convict and sentence a civilian politician.

However, General Bai Li Quan of the RUMC has cited Banshee's former military service as justification for the use of a military tribunal.

The MoJ has also released a document stating that the use of a military tribunal against civilians suspected of terrorism or piracy is permissible under Urranese law if the MoD can provide sufficient evidence to a Federal Court and an impartial civilian jury, as was the case with Banshee.

This has not, however, satisfied many left leaning politicians or certain members of the Urranese public, who feel that trial be jury would have been preferential to a military court.

"It's really scary"said one protestor. "They can lock you away in an island prison until some Army bigwigs decide you need to die. It should have been left up to the jury."

Others cite Urranese security as being paramount and taking precedence over the lives of colonials.

The Urranese 10th Court of Appeals has taken issue with the barring of the lower level officials from entering Urran, citing Union treaties that include freedom of movement between Union states as a legally binding contract that cannot be revoked.

"We will move to challenge this ruling" said Paul Akimoto, federal judge on the 10th Circuit Court. "If they had been deported to the Federation, I would take no issue with it. However, the fact remains that Union citizens have the right to visit Urran, including those from the UoAE. The MoJ and MoD have broken the law, in this case."

However, Lu Ziai Jin, Urranese ambassador to the Union, has stated that Urran is determined to maintain the right to refuse entry to anyone, citing the threat of terrorism, espionage, and the spread of disease as credible reasons to uphold the ban.

7 dead after 3-way Shootout in Dockyard

Policemen secure the Hanigoro dockyard following the shootout

T he usually quiet dockyard of Hanigoro had turned into a gruesome crime scene following a shootout between local authorities, and two warring crime organizations during the early hours of the morning, leaving 7 dead, including a police officer, and injuring 14 others from what was allegedly an arms deal gone wrong.

The incident occurred at around 3AM after an anonymous tip informed Police about a trade of high-powered firearms between members of Resavesi-12, a newfound crime organization allegedly started by former Azen soldiers who specialize in arms dealing, and the Church of Kasai's Wrath, a known cult with a long-history of crimes involving kidnapping, money laundering, and murder in the past 2 decades. According to the police report gathered by our sources, just before the shootout, police overheard a heated argument between the two factions resulting in one of the Resavesi members shooting the other, leaving him wounded. Police then stormed the area to which both factions began shooting at the police and at each other, resulting in a 10-minute shootout that left many dead and wounded. Included in the list of the dead was Officer Nagai Kugesake, 32, and Algeira Hasseumi, a high-ranking member of the Resavesi and allegedly the dealbroker between their faction and the cult. 14 others from both factions have also been arrested following the firefight, including a high priest of the cult.

After a thorough investigation of the crime scene, several crates of firearms, including machine pistols and fully-automatic rifles were collected from the Resavesi inside their vehicle, as well as a sum of 400,000 Flk. inside briefcases located in the high priest's car. This also included documents and photos that could help authorities in future operations against the two factions.

As of now, the authorities have locked down areas of the dockyard for further investigation by police and have advised workers to avoid the areas for the next 24 hours.

Ondos – For the third week now, new cases of endolarna have been reported in the NIR. They were first reported in the city of Zela, and have spread since. This city was the location of Imperial Army Infectious Disease Research Center, which was believed, though never confirmed, to be working with biological weapons. Endolarna is a virus that creates a hemorrhagic fever. It is easy to identify with its Sheppard’s hook shape. Though not normally airborne, it appears that this strain is propagating through the air. All flights from the local nations have ended. The all flights in and out of the NIR have ended. Analysts believe the disease was used in the turf war that had occurred in Zela between several Cohorts of the local legion.

Low yield tactical nuclear weapons have also been used in the turf wars along the east coast. These weapons were deployed with the forces. The military regular sent the “dirty bombs” as a precaution incase they were needed in the defense of the NIR. The use of these weapons have been feared for a while as all sides have been using increasing force. More as the story develops.

Liyom and Adra sign historical, if symbolic, peace treaty.

Today, monday sixth of September of 1975 of the Imperial Calendar, an historical event unraveled, something few people expected to see; Adra and Liyom signed the end of the Adran-Liyomesse war, a conflict that has been going on intermittently as far as 1782 as an official war, and even further as an unofficial conflict between both nations, covering entire generations and a big part of the history (and culture) of both nations, having started long before either power employed gunpowder in war. While the war itself has been all but abandoned since after the Second World War, none of the involved nations ever tried to sit down and officially put an end to it, usually out of national pride, lack of urgency or a combination of both.

It is not surprising, then, that the representatives chosen by each nation were specifically handpicked due to representing the future generations of both, in direct contrast of the older generations that would have looked at this event as "a waste of time". Effectively, the accord was signed by Adran Crown Princess Lady Adreanna Argentus Silva, mute from birth and a big defender of minority rights in Adra (alongside her brother, Crown Prince and renown philantropist Lord Maximilian Argentus Silva) and Princess Salla Varyinen, previosuly known as Sadisia ur Kateritza (former Speaker of Azenyanistan, one of the few Azen leaders to be cleared from charges of crimes against humanity in the recent Haufen Trials), adopted daughter of High Queen Suoma. The fact that both representatives, women in their early 20s with characteristics that would make them outcasts in more conservative encarnations of their nations (the former for being a woman with a handicap, and the latter for not being a birth daughter) was not lost on anyone.

"We wanted to make something more of this already historical event" Princess Salla told the Vox after the document was signed. "Not only forge this document as a representation of the Union as different peoples that learned to leave behind old grudges, but also to point out how the Union is a force of progress that welcomes what used to be outcasts with open arms."

While still early on, the reactions to the accord have been overwhelmingly positive, with political figures of all nations of the Union showing their support and, most commented, a touching open letter by Suvi Pietarinen, the last Liyomesse survivor of the Great War, who celebrated the accord as "a way to prevent our children from suffering the horrors my generation endured" and "a true eye opener to the positive effects of the Union in its individual member states", among others.

Grunalia Undergoes a Change in Management

Less than 12 hours ago, a small haphazard company of revolutionaries stormed the Kitzstadt Common House and all but cleaned house, in the culmination of nearly a week of fighting in the nation's capital and it's urban municipalities.

It started 7 days ago, when protests in the third and fourth largest cities, Přírov and Jaża respectively, Escalated into lethal force from the National Police. With weapons fire tearing into civilian crowds, the protests were either dispersed or escalated into full blown riots. Citizens took up arms, and by dawn most of Jaża had descended into a war zone. The number of deaths and the number of wounded have yet to be fully tallied, but as of now it sits at a somber 130 dead or missing.

The next day fighting in Jaża lulled as people started a mass exodus from the city into the countryside, where potential families and safe havens started being sought out. But again by dawn, Jaża had been reduced to a warzone.

5 days prior to today, the Government of Grunalia called upon the Anowan military to respond, but without any framework fro a defense from internal parties, the Anowan government both refused to apply it's military to what can only be seen as a domestic dispute, and further pressed for a non-violent means to end hostilities within the nation.

On nearly the other side of the country, a group known as the Grunalska Oslobodilačka Fronta [Grunalian Liberation Front](GOF), before now only being a small civilian run militia, soon took it upon themselves to seize control of the border crossings and nearby woodlands around Dulanta near the southern tip of the nation. Across the nation, similar groups took up arms to achieve a sense of order to the ongoing chaos.

4 days ago, former members of the Federal government openly broadcasted that they were deserting their posts and seeking their own end to the hostilities before whole units going missing or found fighting government forces, either fighting the militia groups that have been springing up on their own terms, or simply turning to fight with said militias.

In the countryside, reports of civilians being gunned down in hamlets and secluded villages were abound but not wholly confirmable, as ethnic Anowans and those of a Maccabean faith all but swarmed Anowan bases seeking asylum, in which the Anowan military was unfortunately forced to turn down due to a strict neutrality policy in the turbulent nation's affairs.

At the beginning of the weekend, a ramshackle collection of civillians, government defectors and foreign mercenaries likely hired to take advantage of the situation or arriving of their own volition began a siege on the city of Kitzstadt. Culminating in three days of fighting, and the result of a successful revolution of a now fractured nation under a patchwork of allegiances and leaders. Though with that said, the nation's new interim government is looking to rectifying hostilities and "Looking towards a solution of the Anowan Protectorate Deal."

Nationalist Group Attacks Azen Neighborhoods

Around roughly 11:00 pm last night, the Constantis Police Department received a cry for help from multiple citizens in Gratis, a predominantly Azen neighborhood near the south of the city limits. When the police arrived on the scene, 3 buildings were engulfed in flames, of which were two apartment buildings and retail clothing store. 20 people have been hospitalized and 3 people have been reported dead so far, according to information from the Police.

Evidence from the event shows that the fire was caused by the nationalist group known as the United Nationalist Camaalbakrusian Front, as police found multiple instances of graffiti art with "UNCF" written on walls of buildings adjacent to those which were attacked. Police agree that this group was most probably the cause of the fire.

Supreme Chancellor Grabowski has deemed the actions of the UNCF as "unforgivable acts of hatred and terrorism" and promises justice for those who are the victims of acts such as these. "We shall not rest until these criminals are brought to justice" says Chief Leopold Mistal of the Constantis Police Department.
