$100,000 in cash found in the Salza River near Pretzen

Rattean police are investigating the source of the $100,000 in cash that was fished out of the Salza near Pretzen by a young man, according to local media reports.
Police officers rushed to the Salza river near Pretzen on Saturday after a passer-by spotted the cash and jumped into the cold water to retrieve it.

Police initially suspected the cash may have come from a money laundering scheme or a bank robbery, but their leads have fizzled out.
According to media reports a witness who was cycling along the Salza on Saturday December 5th told police he saw an “elderly, confused man” throw what appeared to be his life’s savings into the river.
Two young men saw the €500 and €100 notes in the water and jumped in to collect them before police arrived and gathered up the rest.
Most of the sum was recovered by police officers and fire rescue personnel.
The young man who was first to notice the money suffered no injuries and is in good condition despite the almost freezing temperatures in the Rattean capital.

If someone does come forward to claim the money and is proven to be its legal owner then the students could claim a reward under
Rattean law - and if no one claims it after a 4 months, the students could claim the entire amount

Army Adopts New Rifle

An Army spokesperson announced this Tuesday that the military will officially adopt the Daewoo K2A assault rifle as a final replacement for it's aging M16 rifles. The K2A offers numerous advantages over the M16. Previously, the Army was in the process of adopting the CZ805 BREN as it's new standard issue rifle. However, not long after the weapon started to enter service the manufacturer started to receive complaints about the weapon. It was rather unreliable, and soldiers disliked the way it felt in their hands. The Army itself says that they don't like it much either, due to the high costs associated with acquisition and maintenance. Last month, they started looking for a new weapon to replace the M16.

The K2 had previously been offered to the Marine Corps as part of their own upgrade program, but the rifle was passed over in favor of the FN FNC. The two weapons showed similar performance, but the Marines ultimately decided that the FNC was better. The manufacturer, Daewoo, has only ever had such luck in the past, as few of the weapons they produced ever made it into standard issue. The company has spent most of its existence producing weapons under a subcontract to help relieve pressure on primary weapons factories, manufacturing aftermarket parts for older weapons, and accessories for the few weapons that they do produce for standard issue with the FAP Armed Forces and other foreign militaries. This sudden turnaround in fortunes is giving hope to the Singapore-based Daewoo, which now plans to merge with small-arms manufacturer Seburo.

"It really is incredible. Ten years ago, nobody wanted our rifle. Now the Army, the Navy, the Self Defense Force, even the Esgonians are starting to ask for it" says designer Nakamura Maru "I hope that it's a sign of things to come".

Helsa Federation becomes official, HQ Founded, first continental projects under construction. Populace unhappy.

The Helsa Federation has now become official with the first Continental project being under cconstruction now, a underground high speed rail network connecting the entire continent from city to city from north to south, east to west. The Federation HQ and Capital has also been set in Auraxis the Capital of Vanqauria in which a 'city within a city' will be constructed to house the Capital and HQ. However the backlash from unification in Donner Land has been rampant as protests and riots take place in Roal City, Bögt and Tutten along with other towns in the Country. It is advised to stay away from these areas to avoid injury.

It appears that the populace is very obviously not happy with aligning with our former enemy's across the border. But as our Head of State said, we must unite to further the Helsen people into the future. To survive we must unite against the real enemy, not our brothers the Vanqaurians.

But besides politics, the Donnish Economy among other things will benefit from these projects and the unification of Helsa. Goods will become cheaper as some are shipped in from other country's just across the border and already the Helsa Federation has one of the biggest Economy's in the World. Not only this, but business such as the Titanium industry and Wood industry will benefit from selling their goods to the other nations of Helsa especially the Agriculture industry which has seen a huge surplus since 2014 from the new Agricultural discoveries.

Millitary wise, The Federation will have one of the Largest Militaries in the world if not number one in the world. And since the continent is united to a single cause, protecting the Federation, nothing will stand in the way of a united Helsa, not even the powers of ISAT or the Union. So we must prepare if anyone finds the Federation upsetting the 'Balance of Power' in the world.

The government of Donner Land will not be interfered with by the Federation as the nation has representation in the new Council of Helsa and the Chancellor along with autonomy like with other nations under the banner of Helsa. The Federation of course will intervene when needed for the good of the Continent.

Esgonian Navy unveils new Battleship

After at least 6 years of development, with only rumors of the development reports and leaked images on the internet. The Esgonian Naval forces have now unveiled their new battleship to the public eye in a press conference and unveiling and commissioning ceremony, dubbed the Sadako-Class.

The events were held this morning at Port Ordello Naval Base near the city of Alreida, where the new ship, named "Ayanami" is docked, was attended by members of the Department of Defense, the head of Kasada Heavy Industries and Shipyards, and the commander of the 3rd Fleet, where the unveiled ship was assigned to, followed by a concert being performed by the Esgonian 3rd Fleet Band.

Although some specifications for the ship are still held classified by the government, recently released information, followed by experts who attended the events and official announcements from the press conference prior to the ceremonies had stated that it was an enhanced redesign of the classic Iowa-Class Battleship which was used by the Federal Esgonian Navy from 1938 up to today, with reinforced and modernized armor to enhance its survival on the field. It's armaments include at least 6 18-in (450mm) deck guns, 4 deck railguns, in which its specs were also highly classified, both of them being able to fire from long ranges, thus giving them good use for fire support; and VLS cells, where it was able to mount both the BGM-109 Tomahawk and the RGM-84 Harpoon missiles, though how many would they carry, and if it is also being able to mount Trinity-N missiles, is still unknown at this time .It also uses the AEGIS systems, and fitted with SAM systems such as the Patriot and Buk Type-N to protect itself from aircraft assault. Its propulsion systems was similar to the Esgonian Nimitz-Class carrier, being able to use saltwater as fuel.

Qatar- Recently the government issued a demand to the Fronslandish government to accept a Equatorian demand for a compensation of 10 billion dollars as a response to Fronsland shooting down a Equatorian jet believed to have entered Fronslandish airspace. After the deadline passed, with the Fronslandish government not even attempting to discuss the situation. As a result, the country embargoed Fronsland, though Fronslanish media has claimed that the embargo will not majorly impact the nation.

After a vote for deployment of troops was passed by a vote of 289 to 211 in Parliament, the military has stated that the 2nd Armored Troop and the 9th Infantry Brigade are currently being to be deployed into the zone, but only when Equatorian officials give permission for WPT troops to enter in Bahrain.

The Vanquarian government has recently announced the successful transfer of 10 billion Credits to Equatorian government accounts, therefore settling the Qatar/Bahrain dispute and possibly ending tensions.

This act of selfless aid to their close Fronslandish allies did not go unnoticed as the nation of Fronsland has gifted the Iron Empire with permission to construct numerous more military bases in addition to the already constructed naval base in Fronsland's port.

Vanquarian military outposts are to be built near Fronsland's northern borders with Esgonia, UoAE and North Arkana, numbering 19 altogether with 11 to face UoAE, 6 to face Esgonia and 2 to face North Arkana. Following the outposts is the construction of 2 major military bases behind the outposts. Lastly there will be new custom-built, Fronslandish-Vanquarian military port very close to Esgonian territory and facing the middle of the Gulf shared by Esgonia and Fronsland.

With such a vast amount of military assets to be spent the estimated amount for personnel to be stationed there is over a hundred thousand. Vanquarian High Command has told press that these new assets are purely for defensive and strategic purposes in the region.

The two heads of the Kaiserreich of Reutoa and the Esgonian Federation shake hands after a recent press conference indicating that the two nations have signed the historical "Red Dove Treaty" this noon.

Reutoa, which is a member of ISAT, now named the ISARA Protocol, had earlier decided to extend it's hand towards the Federation further, to which the Federation had agreed. D.I.A Announce successful SF Operation in Reutoa, 3 Communist Leaders confirmed dead. DCLF respond with the Suicide bombing of an Army Base. 200 Servicemen and women killed. More wounded.

Tonight the DIA has struck a mighty and decisive blow to Communists in Reutoa. 3 leaders have been confirmed dead in a Operation involving elements from the SCAR and LG. No lives were lost but a total of 2 were wounded in an accident of which the DIA will not disclose how until further notice. However we do know it was not serious and the young fighters will be back on their feet within a few weeks. They did share details on how the leaders died, Number 1 suffered "Severe Blunt force trauma to the head and spine", Number 2 had "Died of blood loss" and Number 3 from "Multiple stab wounds." Usually the DIA does not share these details but it has been speculated that they are trying to create a show of force to the DCLF.

However the DCLF had their own response, hours later a small Military Base reported a Vehicle was driving dangerously on the road towards the Base. Later they reported the vehicle had blown through the checkpoint despite gunfire and crashed into a Mess Hall as IMTF Personell were eating. The Vehicle exploded destroying the Mess Hall and damaging surrounding buildings killing 200 and wounding many more. The Head of State called for 5 minutes of silence on this day to remember the loss of lives in the attack.

Relations With Novokraina

Just a few hours ago the Vanquarian government officially announced that the Iron Empire has signed a Free Trade Agreement with the militaristic nation of Novokraina.

This comes after the official release of The Helsa Economic Scheme which aims to considerably strengthen Helsa's role as a global hub of trade in Ausozera. Vanquarian spokespeople have told press that the Free Trade Agreement with Novokraina is aimed at supplementing the 'HES' with much needed economic support.

With the collective nation that is the Helsa Federation transforming into a self-sustaining state the Vanquarian government hopes that improving relations with fellow countries, particularly the controversial easing of economic tensions between Esgonia and Vanquaria, will lead to better prosperity for all involved parties and in the long run, a close ally of the Federation.

Encounter with Unknown Vessels Ends Violently
Occurred at site of TF-37's disappearance

A group of naval vessels of unknown origin was identified by a routine patrol off the coast near location famous for the disappearance of Task Force 37 yesterday afternoon, with the encounter ultimately ending violently. A small task group from the 1st Fleet was deployed to investigate after the vessel refused to respond to radio hailing. While the task group was en route, the unknown vessel, identified to be an old model battleship of remarkable similarity in appearance to the old-model Kongou-class vessels, sent unintelligible signal lamp messages to the patrol aircraft. Running short of fuel, the aircraft returned to base.

Intercepts of radio chatter by the task group as it approached indicated potential Portean or Urranese origin, but intelligence from the patrol aircraft indicated none of the vessels were displaying recognized emblems or flags. Attempts to contact the vessels from beyond visual range did not produce results, forcing the task group to close to visual range. Attempts at signalling were once again attempted. Information is currently unavailable on the events leading up to the beginning of the incident, but what is clear is that one of the small vessels fired what reports indicate be its main battery of guns at a frigate of the task group. Simultaneously, lookouts identified the turrets of the large vessel turning to face the task force. The group commander made the decision to engage will maximum effect. Details of the battle itself are currently unavailable, but what is clear is that it was over quickly, with no losses to the task group. All three vessels sank much faster than expected, which is believed to be the reason for the less than fifty survivors picked up after the incident.

In the aftermath, attempts to interrogate the survivors were unsuccessful, but initial reports point towards the survivors being of Portean or Urranese origin. The Diplomatic Corp has stated this issue will be brought to the attention of both nations, and that hopefully answers for this incident can be found. The survivors are currently detained at a naval base, under uncertain circumstances as no state of war exists, and they can not be charged as pirates either.

An alliance was signed with The Holy Empire of Eredion to strengthen relations between the two countries and the pact that already been signed, the alliance has now been added to the pact, it was signed in Svetonopol. After Emperor Lukas vi Eredion landed in Svetonopol, he was greeted by our Hetman before signing the document that makes our nations even closer despite the fact that we are an ocean away. The alliance state: "Both parties promise to aid each other in defensive as in a offensive war, whether in economic aid or military aid". With the alliance singed, the Lukas-Oleksandr Pact was renamed to: N.E.C.A. - Novokrainian - Eredian Cooperation Alliance

Vanquarian vessel sunk near the continental platform by unknown attacker.

Earlier this morning, the UCB Consul Bonaparte moved to intercept a vessel, that was later found to be flying the Vanquarian flag, after the Unionist intelligence services discovered unknown ships (later confirmed to hail from Vanquaria) passing through patrol routes of the Unionist Navy. After being contacted by the Bonaparte's captain, the Unionist vessel discovered the ship had been destroyed by an unknown attacker, who had left the wreckage floating in the sea.

While the details are still unclear, we are saddened to announce the passing of at least seven Vanquarian sailors. While we don't know much about what happened after that incident, we are sure our government is trying their best to return the survivors to their families.

Security Naval Patrols

With Vanquarian forces beginning to arrive via aerial transport in the dozens the Vanquarian fleet that had been stationed in one of the ports of Fronsland, before the announcement of a major army to arrive in the continent, has begun operations in the region.

The fleet, numbering about 13 warships, have started doing routine patrols in the outskirts of Fronslandish waters in accordance/cooperation with the Fronslandish naval forces. Corvettes have also been sighted in international waters though the fleet admiral told press that they were merely accompanying marine scientists on research tasks.

The admiral has told press that the security naval patrols are to ensure the security of the region and the continent in a maritime environment. Meanwhile a fleet of over 20 vessels has departed the port of Moscow including 5 SIGMA vessels though officials would not answer as to why SIGMA was involved.

And with construction of the numerous outposts and military bases along with the military port already started Vanquarian High Command have said that they wish for only the peaceful security of Fronsland and to develop good relations with the neighbouring nations in the continent.

Need To Increase Security

The very recent news of a Vanquarian fishing ship destroyed by unknown sources has caused anger in Vanquaria.

Vanquarian High Command spokespeople has ,in a talk to press concerning the matter, told us that this is cause for more Vanquarian assets to be deployed to the region to ensure maximum safety for innocents in those waters which have now been proved unsafe despite the numerous fleets of other nations patrolling them.

High Command has issued a secondary fleet to follow in the steps of the first deployed fleet, which is close approaching Fronslandish waters. The secondary fleet's units were announced, a Vanquarian military carrier and an unspecified number of Destroyers.

With now a larger force than before estimated due to be stationed the military port in Fronsland specifically built for this fleet is to be increased in size considerably to accommodate a larger force.

Meanwhile the already stationed fleet in Fronsland has deployed 7 warships along with air support in the form of a Boeing E-3 Sentry to escort the first to arrive fleet from international waters.

After the tragic sinking of a Vanquarian transport in an Unionist patrol route, the Unionist Navy has approached the Vanquarian authorities and have asked them to allow them to assist their vessels in securing the sea. They argumented that they felt guilty due to the event happening in their patrol route, and offered to assist them in securing the seas.

Fleet Mobilized to End Piracy

In response to a tragic sinking of a Vanquarian transport, the Navy has declared an "International War on Piracy", vowing to end raids on commercial routes once and for all. To that end, the Navy says they have redeployed the 6th fleet and mobilized the 9th fleet out of Singapore to the waters west of Ashai. The combined fleets include 12 warships, 2 carriers, and two Helicopter Destroyers. 2 Wasp-class amphibious assault ships have also joined the force to provide additional support, and include elements of the 501st Marine Division, an airborne unit specializing in both air assault and amphibious operations. The complete force will work with Unionist Navy vessels to put an end to piracy around Ashai.

Unity Between Navies

Unionist naval forces have recently offered the Vanquarian naval forces in the region, after the tragic incident concerning the downing of an innocent fishing trawler, aid in combating a possible pirate threat.

In response to this the fleet admiral of the naval forces in the region, Admiral Akainu, has approached press and told us that he has been in a period of consultation with High Command concerning this matter and has decided on what step Vanquarian naval forces should take in this matter.

'As Commander of the Iron Empire forces stationed in Fronsland on a mission to provide stability and security to the region I will address the offer made by Unionist Navy officials.

Vanquarian naval security appreciate the offer but unfortunately will have to decline as cooperation between Vanquarian and Fronslandish naval security has begun to target a possible maritime security threat.

I have already issued a change of objectives for the secondary carrier fleet that is heading to Fronsland with orders to drop anchor on the west side of the continent and conduct security surveillance and patrols. Meanwhile Vanquarian and Fronslandish naval security will conduct surveillance and increased patrols in central Fronslandish waters, the shared Esgonian-Fronslandish Gulf and south-eastern Fronslandish waters.

The first fleet will conduct security patrols on the central and north parts of Fronslandish waters. The secondary fleet will conduct security on in the west of Aishai in international waters and the third fleet will be at the southern area of Fronslandish waters and international waters. All fleets will be supplmented by Fronslandish military assistance and Admiral Akainu has expressed that all other nation's fleet that are mobilising to the west of Aishai refocus on their own waters as Vanquarian naval forces have already begun operations in that area.

Patrols Increased Due To Vanquarian Military Activity

Citing increased Vanquarian military activity in the region and scheduled Vanquarian ballistic missile tests near Esgonia, the MoD has announced the deployment of an Aegis equipped cruiser to the Urranese naval station in Esgonia. URS Akita left the port city of Setagaya this morning to join two Mosura class destroyers and an Akizuki class air defense frigate already stationed there. Also being deployed is an extra P-1 maritime patrol plane, bringing the total number of these planes deployed to said naval station to three. The MoD says that Urranese helicopters and patrol planes will be flying patrols more often and over a larger area until a decrease in Vanquarian naval activity is seen.

Esgonia is not the only nation in the region to be receiving Urranese guests. URS Lanzhou, a Jyu class littoral combat ship will make a quick stop over in a Portean port after several mysterious disappearances of vessels, including a Vanquerian fishing boat, have been reported. The MoD says that this is not a deployment to Portean waters, but rather a mere stop on the ships tour of duty.

Urranese Giant Salamanders Beginning to make Comeback

After years of being classified as threatened by habitat loss, the Urranese Giant Salamander is beginning to make a comeback thanks to strict federal protection and captive rearing programs put in place by the Urranese Association of Zoos and Aquariums. The salamander is one of the largest amphibians on the planet reaching an adult size of up to 1.5 meters. It is also one of the longest lived with an estimated lifespan of 80 plus years. Due to encroachment into its natural habitat, the numbers declined drastically from the 1950's to the mid 1980's until protection programs and captive rearing of young salamanders was put into place. Stricter environmental protection laws and complete protection from harvesting are seeing more salamanders surviving to breeding age in the wild. Numbers are beginning to rise and with them the health of Urran's rivers as a whole. We can only hope that this trend will continue and that populations will make full recoveries.

An hour after the Admiral's talk the press has received confirmed official information that with the situation changing and Vanquarian naval security facing the uncertainty of flexibility in foreign waters aid from fellow navies will now be accepted with welcome arms.

The Vanquarian Second Fleet have already initiated surveillance operations in the western waters of Aishai for a possible pirate threat though it has not been fully confirmed as to whether that is the case or a more sinister force is behind the downing of the innocent fishermen, citizens of the Iron Empire.

The Second Fleet has announced it's positioning in the north sector of the Western Waters of Aishai where it will make use of advanced equipment including drones to patrol the given area. Satellite surviellance is considered too great an asset to be brought into this matter when we asked a captain due to leave the Fronslandish docks for duty as the equipment possessed by Vanquarian naval security should be more than sufficient enough to fulfil the required range of the operation.

Moscecor Navy partners with Linge-Moscecor Shiperies
A Moscecor Shipyard named after Malik Linge, a naval engineer of commercial marine transport agencies, has partnered with the Moscecor Navy. The Moscecor Navy, which currently consists of 4 Visby Class Corvettes, two cancelled Project V (Vetlesen) cruisers, and a completed cruiser (MNS Mildor) used in the 1950's which has 3 5"/54 (127 mm/54) caliber Mark 42 guns, and two M2 brownings. Orders from global companies are soon to be answered. However, in an attempt to industrialize Moscecor further the company of Linge Shiperies will be merged with the navy.

Two new marine species discovered off of the western coast of Moscecor
Two new species have been discovered near the shores of Moscecor. The two species were named the West Island Dugong, a new sirenian species located near the edge of Moscecor national waters. Four have been moved to the Holta Zoo. This sirenian is more social than other, and groups have been found. Out of the two groups, one had four members, three cows and a bull. They roam territories, so the bull probably serves as a breeder just as the females are. Some scientists predict that females and their calves will gather in feeding groups, and during breeding they will move north where females form feeding groups once more, only to be approached by several males. Most males live in a solitary manner, not staying with the female for more than a few months at the most. While heading north, some dugong move closer to the shore where they may be hit by boats. These animals are always moving, says discoverer Rode Ivar.


The next species is a endangered porpoise, named Saetern's porpoise after its discoverer. 2 were reported off the coast of Mescocor by a ocean canoe-goer named Alex Saetern who took a picture of this group. So far several expeditions near the area and up to twenty miles across. The porpoises are reported to have headed north.
