I'm going to trust it's not your nation twice because I have no reason not to believe you. I've added you.

orslan rejects your application

I would like to veto the decision to reject the application. I would like to put this to a discussion between staff members.

Are you sure you weren't a previous member?

I recently looked at my post from months ago to join, it wasn't responded to. So I am sure I'm not a previous member.

Thank you so much for making this Spenty! I'm no good at coding or else I would have made something similar from the start. I replaced our previous application with this one. I amended it a little such as I added at the end the question asking for previous history with the LoN but that's really all I changed. I think this is brilliant!

I've amended the IPFTA

Postby Zazumo » Sun Apr 16, 2017 11:26 am

I made this proposal before and it went nowhere but I changed Section III. The new version is as follows:

Section III: Inter-Pacific Peace Tribunal (IPPT)
Nations establish an international justice tribunal which oversees corporate litigation's and consists of 1 judge from each participating member nation. This tribunal will have authority over any international incidents between participating nations. These may range from copyright and trademark disputes to human rights and immigration cases which may fall under the IPPTs jurisdiction.
IPPT judges are selected at random and each member nation reserves the right to have their judge join or abstain from a ruling. Rulings made by the IPPT are legally binding and not adhering to an IPPT ruling may result in a ban from the League of Nations and all future IPFTA trades.

In the original there were a maximum of 10 judges and 2 of each of those judge was from a specific nation. This meant that under the original concept if your nation isn't serving in the IPPT and a case involving your nation occurs you may not have been able to defend yourself to the full extent of the law. Now each member is allowed 1 judge to serve in the IPPT and may preside over or abstain any case. This also removes the limit of 10 judges in the IPPT so to allow as many nations to participate in an IPPT case should one of importance ever occur. This change makes assembling an IPPT easier and removes any bias from proceedings. I hope you all approve of this change.

I think that there should be permanent ippt seats and rotational seats. Staff members get 1 permanent seat, and other Lon members get 2 rotational seat. one per nation.

Zazumo wrote:I made this proposal before and it went nowhere but I changed Section III.

If we want a permanent IPPT how many judges should we have serving total and how would they rule? My version is simple and allows anyone to participate with a ruling done via majority vote by the IPPT.

Staff members get one ippt judge each of which is permanent, all other nations must share 2 slots. It will rotate, so whatever two countries have the temporary positions a few weeks/month will be replaced the next few weeks/months. This will ensure activity, if a member fails to complete their obligations in the ippt they will be seen as inactive and therefore wish to no longer take part in the Lon or ipfta, and will be removed from the league.

And how would two members sharing a seat make a ruling? What if they ruled differently?

League peace force

Postby Orslan » Sun Apr 16, 2017 3:16 pm

orslan would like to increase the amount of Orslanian troops in the LPF by 2,000, we've also taken notice that seven Lon members have not met their requirements in LPF troop dispatch, which is a requirement to be apart of the Lon. The LPF is thus missing out on about 10,000 available man power. We would like to request raising the required troop dispatch from each nation to around 3,000, LPF bases are nowhere near their capacity, so the lon is actually losing a lot of IPOS funding these understaffed military bases.

Orslanian nuclear capabilities

Postby Orslan » Sun Apr 16, 2017 3:35 pm

Orslan plans on increasing its nuclear arsenal by five fold each of which will be in nuclear subs, warships and will be attached to certain drones. Which will patrol Federation waters as well as international waters/airspace and trade roots.

Following this news members of our Congress have passed a bill condemning the use of nuclear weapons. Senators have also sent a letter to Emperor William asking him to commit to entering dialog aimed at reducing the number of nuclear weapons in our military's arsenal.

An open letter to His Royal Highness Emperor William;
Respectfully we, The People's Republic of Zazumo have serious concerns on the proposed nuclear deal by the The United Federation of Orslan. As you know several media have reported anti nuclear protest in the wake of the announcement - we hereby state our opposition to the deal and urge the government of The United Federation of Orslan not to embark on the deal considering the greater common good of a nuclear free world.

On behalf of the citizens and government of the People's Republic of Zazumo we thank you for your time.

A big reason for this has been bad record keeping. Personally I'm guilty of only keeping records of my military and not others. We can fix this by starting a Google Doc to keep records straight. Of course I don't want to post a direct link here for anyone to alter. Instead I'll post an link to an editable doc in our Discord where only staff can view it.

This is a bold ask - something that would put many contractors out of work. A nation like mine with a small arms industry wouldn't be affected as much. Should you give us a good deal on future trades we may even support this.

How about more Orslanian investment in zazumo, kokoro and other companies are willing to construct high speed rail lines, bigger highways, airports, and other infrastructure projects at 2/3's the price of our competitors, 1/3 of the workers will be Orslanian the rest from zazumo. In return can zazumo buy more Orslanian IPOS bonds?

How does this look?

Section III: Inter-Pacific Peace Tribunal (IPPT)
Nations establish an international justice tribunal which oversees corporate litigation's. The IPPT shall consist of 1 judge from each member nation serving as staff with 2 seats rotating between non-staff members . This tribunal will have authority over any international incidents between participating nations. These may range from copyright and trademark disputes to human rights and immigration cases which may fall under the IPPTs jurisdiction.
IPPT nations reserve the right to join or abstain from a ruling. Rulings made by the IPPT are legally binding and not adhering to an IPPT ruling may result in a ban from the League of Nations and all future IPFTA trades.

Also how would we then select and rotate the two seats? Should they be elected, nominated? How long between rotation?

Probably alphabetical order, about a month sounds good.

Nothing big happening, no. We're really more of a low key trading community than a serious rp group - come to think about it I don't think we've ever did an extensive rp, ever.
