This office has been tasked to relay His Lordship's appreciation of your kind assistance and diligent handling of our request. Further arrangements regarding the matter will now be handle through the undersigned. While we are impressed by the heritage, luxury and comfort the properties identified will definitely provide our representations, we kindly request for an additional two properties listed for sale for consideration. We feel that more options will aid us in determining the appropriate property for our ambassadorial residence. To Sir Payne Marciano Assistant Deputy Minister Missions, Consular Operations and Security 21 July 2017 Sir, I am in receipt of your letter which you had the pleasure of writing to me yesterday on behalf of His Lordship the Lord Ceswican. In response to your request for two additional options for your government’s consideration, We are more than happy to acquaint you with two available properties which we believe would suit the taste and criteria of the Jeltronian Government. My colleague from the Diplomatic Protection Unit and I have also taken the liberty to personally survey the following properties this morning, to ensure that they meet our strict standards of security and comfort: 1. Rumah Britania (Sawah Lama, Weltevreden) This graceful, turn of the century house was originally built in 1902 for the British Consul to Hindia Belanda and sold by the British Government in 1951 to Mme Jasmin ‘Soerjo’ Soerjokoesoemodiningrat, a Hindia Belandan socialite and scion of the Native Royal House of Yogyakarta who is the current owner of this house. It is located in Sawah Lama, a residential neighbourhood within Weltevreden close to the Roman Catholic Cathedral of St Mary of the Assumption and the Grand Mosque of Jakarta. For this reason, the streets surrounding this neighbourhood regularly see a dramatic spike in traffic every Friday and Sunday, which the Ambassador may find to be inconvenient. Under regular traffic condition, however, we estimate that the commute between the house and the Jeltronian chancery may take between 20 to 25 minutes by car which is quite reasonable given its location in a busy central area. Structurally, Rumah Britania is in no way similar to Specx House as it is a detached house surrounded by an ornate wall and a gate, whereas Specx house is part of a row of townhouses. Architecturally, they do share the same neoclassical flair prevalent in Weltevreden and surrounding districts. The interior itself is dominated by dark wooden panels with lacquer and brass detailing. There are a small garden and a swimming pool with chequered marble flooring at the back of the house, and a cupola containing a small reading room atop the house. Like the Specx House, Rumah Britania is in the Commonwealth Registry for Historic Places. Therefore, no alteration of its exterior can be made by its owner except for restoration purposes. Mme Soerjo, who is now eighty-eight, is represented by her son Damar Soerjo in all her legal dealings. Mr Soerjo is willing to meet with a deputation of the Jeltronian government to negotiate the price, which currently stands at HBR 3,100,000. 2. Gedung Teras Del Rey (Benedenstad/Oude Centrum Jakarta) A four-storey townhouse near Pacinan Gate, overlooking the scenic shop-lined Andalusian Canal (Kanaal Al-Andalus/Moorsegracht). Gedung Del Rey, as it is known locally, is situated in the southernmost part of the Old City of Jakarta, about 30 minutes from the Jeltronian chancery. It originally belonged to a prominent Chinese trader and Freemason by the name of Oey Sek Hie, who was instrumental in the establishment of Lodge number 78 "Humanitas" located about two blocks from this house. Mr Oey bequeathed Gedung Del Rey to his sister Santje Sek Hie, to whom this house currently belongs. This townhouse is part of a recent luxurious renovation of late 19th-century residential buildings designed by J.P. Rietveld, collectively commissioned by their owners. The façade of this historic townhouse is an unmistakable amalgam of European and East Indies architectures, whilst the interior is elegantly outfitted with luxurious Parisian furnishings. A spacious dining room on the first floor can be easily converted into a formal reception room which can comfortably accommodate up to 35 people at once. It is listed at HBR 2,900,000 but its owner Mme Oey is willing to go lower on the price. I hope the information included in this letter may help the Jeltronian Government to decide on a property to purchase for the perusal of its Ambassador. The National Assembly of Nikolia was consulted, and on 3rd of September, the proposal to establish a diplomatic mission in the Commonwealth of Hindia Belanda has been approved with 85% of votes in favour of such movement. Therefore, i am sending you the official application attached to this letter.
