Foreign embassies are located in Jakarta, the capital of the Commonwealth, whilst consulates are mostly located in cities with a large presence of expatriates such as Bandung, Pahlaniukan, Samarang, Denpasar, Bandar Kunti and Jayapura. Most chanceries (embassies) are clustered within the districts of Weltevreden, Pengairan, Noordwijk and Menteng.
Jakarta is a bustling coastal metropolis located by the Java Sea. It offers a multitude of entertainment for your senses to savour. Its streets are clad with designer shops and chic hotels while millions commute through the asphalt veins and arteries that run the country's economy. Many tourists find the everlasting traffic jams that plague the city fascinating, but if you're not the "wow I love Jakarta because of its hectic and chaotic atmosphere!" type of person, there's always lounges, cafes, restaurants and rooftop bars waiting for you where you can take refuge inside from all that chaos.
Embassies are located in Central Jakarta, mostly within the districts of Weltevreden, Pengairan, Noordwijk or Menteng. Round the clock Diplomatic Protection Service officers are assigned to each chancery but they will not enter diplomatic premises without prior permission from the embassy. You may choose from a selection of four districts where you may build your embassies.

Non-resident Embassies
A sovereign state which has limited political or economic interests or a very small number of its own nationals residing in the Commonwealth of Hindia Belanda may choose to appoint a non-resident Ambassador to the Commonwealth, in lieu of establishing a permanent embassy in the capital Jakarta. Sovereign states with limited national budgets may also opt for this economical option.

Weltevreden District
Since the colonial era, Weltevreden has been an integral part of the capital city where foreign embassies and important administrative buildings line its avenues and streets. It is home to imposing colonial structures and neo-futuristic buildings alike. It is considered as one of the prime locations to build an embassy in, owing to its close proximity to the Daendelspaleis (the Jakarta residence of the Governor-General), Istana Nusantara (headquarters of the Hindia Belandan government and residence of the Prime Minister) and the Staten-Generaal (Parliament).
For this reason, the entire district of Weltevreden enjoys round-the-clock surveillance and police presence. When required, the Royal Police are able to impose a complete lockdown of the district by restricting all vehicular traffic from entering or exiting the area. Most streets in the district are also equipped with retractable bollards that can be raised or lowered by the authorities.
At the centre of the district is Prince Frederik Barracks, the oldest Hindia Belandan military barracks in continuous operation where a detachment of Viceregal Guards who are responsible for the protection and security of Daendelspaleis and the Governor-General (when he is in Jakarta) are stationed.

Noordwijk District
Just north of Weltevreden is Noordwijk District, which is home to Jakarta's art scene. Embassies located in Noordwijk enjoy both the proximity to Weltevreden, where most government buildings are situated, and direct access to some of Hindia Belanda's renowned art galleries and theatres. An expansive festival ground adorned with exotic plants and manicured grass, which hosts the annual Batavia Fashion Week and Weltevredefest, is also located within Noordwijk.

Menteng District
Menteng is an affluent district just south of Weltevreden consisting two subdistricts called Upper Menteng and Lower Menteng. Embassies located in Menteng are clustered in Upper Menteng, a chic residential area with wide palm-lined avenues and numerous mansions. The building code here is very strict and nations who want to establish an embassy in Menteng must design their chanceries in such a way that the building blends naturally with the surrounding structures. Due to the high-profile nature of the subdistrict, Upper Menteng enjoys round the clock police presence and surveillance.
Embassies in Upper Menteng has the advantage of being closely located to Lower Menteng which is Hindia Belanda's most dynamic and lively shopping and entertainment centre. Lower Menteng is filled with five-star hotels, elegant restaurants, stylish cafés and shopping centres. Open-air rooftop bars crown the skyscrapers and international retails form a dense network of shopping avenues. Apart from the main avenues where all the actions take place, labyrinthine streets lined with artisanal bars and eateries provide a non-stop entertainment to every visitor. It is a destination most frequented by tourists and locals alike for its jovial atmosphere.

Rules and application forms
Here are a few general rules and info to follow when applying for an embassy in Hindia Belanda:
- 1. Embassies are not sovereign territory in itself. The land on which the embassy building (chancery) is built is Hindia Belandan territory. However, we respect the international law concerning extraterritoriality of the building.
2. As a member of the World Assembly, Hindia Belanda abides by Diplomat Protection Act, which governs and guarantee the safe conduct of diplomats across the world.
3. Your country is not allowed to construct a helipad or hub capable of hosting airborne vehicles within the premise of your embassy.
4. Each security staff at an embassy may only carry one weapon. Only two security staff of a consulate may carry a weapon at any given time, regardless of the total number of that consulate's security staff. Other security staff of consulates may carry non-lethal weapons such as taser guns.
5. No tanks or fighter jets allowed. You're establishing an embassy, not going to war.
6. Lastly, and most importantly, please make an effort to include a cover letter with your embassy application. I really do appreciate players who are willing to engage in the occasional exchange of diplomatic letters with my nation. I do not like it when players with very young nations apply for an embassy only to CTE in a few weeks or so (I'm seeing a trend where this has often been the case as of late).
